Anyone know whats happened to the searching within threads themselves for keywords? It was really useful and now it Its disappeared on the new site.
According to the search feature guide it should be next to the page counter but its not.
"Using the Search this thread box
This search box is located on the top right of any specific thread, right next to the page counter. From here, we can search for specific things inside of a specific thread. "

Hello, this is the only vBulletin forum that I browse(I'm more of a SMF guy, I use it and develop for it) and I can't find the place where I can see new topics in which I have participated(Tapatalk does this for this forum). Is there a link where I can see the new topics?

A couple of things you can do:
1
Subscribe to threads you are interested in and receive email notification of new posts being added.
2
Bookmark your profile page http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1153710 and in there go to the statistics tab>Find all posts by. Then by clicking on your posts you can see if there have been any replies.
Not sure if these links might work also:

Find all threads started by Dragooon123

im using subscription witout email, means i can go to my user cp and i see all threads i subscripted that have new posts
so i dont get too many emails but see all new replys..
The question is,
why does the XDA app offer this feature,
but the full version of the board does not?
I could theoretically run an emulator, run the XDA android app, and use this forum MORE efficiently than actually turning on a laptop. I use the 'participated' area every single day.
That seems backward. There has to be a way to pull this data to a web browser, if it can be pulled to an Android phone.

You should set your usercp so that it will automatically subscribe to threads you reply to (without notification)
Then go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php?do=viewsubscription&folderid=all to view them.

Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but I haven't found an answer to the same question, and this is the only time I have seen it have replies. Finding threads posted by a user will not do the same thing, the participated thread button in the tapatalk or xda app does. One should not have to subscribe to every thread either, that would be pointless considering that is for threads you REALLY want to follow.
The information is accessible to the app, which means ultimately it would be easy to implement on the website, and it is counter productive you can only find it in app. The best answer I have is find the posts in the app, but if I have to post something longer, or with links, I have to find the thread on the website.
As popular as this site is, this feature would improve quite a bit.. people(maybe more noobs) would actually follow threads they've posted questions on, so the replies aren't a waste of time. How many threads have multiple people asked for more details and the OP never replies.. Subscribing to threads would only work on any new posts, and some of my oldest ones I would still want to know activity for. This all seems obvious.
I have yet to find anything I'm looking for by using the search function here on XDA. I use specific language in my search, usually looking to sideload apps or mods and every time I attempt to use the search function it NEVER produces the results I'm looking for. Maybe someone should kang Googles search algorithms or something because it just plain doesn't work...

If you're having problems with the search then maybe you just need some pointers on search terms.
It takes more time then it should, they need it fix it.
Editing myself now instead of having my post moderated or having to come back and edit it later.
Tell us what you're trying to search for...give us an example.
Personally, I think search works very well considering the sheer number of threads on the forums.
I have no problem with the search, as long as you use specific keywords.
^Agree use keywords to for you to search properly.
Agreed...searches are only effective as the keywords you use

I do not have problems with search before.
May be I'm stupid, but today search button missed from all brousers (Chrome and IE).
How I can turn it back?
Hmmm..yea, it is missing. I'll speak with the server admin, see what's up.
I've not really had any problems with search on the site, search in the premium app seems to struggle though, maybe it's just me
Maybe the site needs a "server issues" page, since the same issue is getting reported over and over again. It would help people see what's a known issue and find out what's happening about it.

They are having issues with the forum and search button. Look around there's like 100 threads that ask about the search button in the same section your posting in. Give then some time to square it away.:banghead:

Either that or the sites users need the ability to at least briefly glance at the titles of the first six or seven threads in a given section before posting yet another thread about how search is borked and they need to spam 12 posts to get it back....

@Idiots, please learn to read existing threads. They suggest it's not just you having the issue. Meaning we know about it, and it will be back as soon as possible.

Well maybe there should be an announcement somewhere indicating there are technical issues and some parts of the site are non-functional, then you wouldn't have "12" threads all about how there's no search button!

I am pushing an announcement across the site right now, so that will be done in the next few minutes.
Regarding use of the word idiot, if someone will make a thread without their eye being drawn over the top 2 or 3 threads (all on topic of search), I stand by my statement these people highlight the need for Darwinian survival of the fittest...
I'm not a forum noob by any stretch but all others I've been on over the years have some way to display all the threads I posted in, and mark them bold if they have an update I haven't seen yet.
I have yet to find this on xda and it's getting old, even after only a few days, to go from forum to forum and check for updates to any threads I contributed to. What am I missing?
ETA: I'm looking for something like "display all subscribed topics" in a shortcut form somewhere. I really don't want to have to do this through advanced searches. It kills the entire intent of getting a quick overview of updates.
I found the issue. Apparently contributing to a thread doesn't add that thread to your subscribed threads list. This is a (pita, very unfortunate) manual step you have to do per thread if you want to keep up with the thread. I'm very surprised it has to be this way, but so be it.
If anyone knows of a way to change this on a per-user level please let me know.

Change your settings to auto-subscribe to every thread you post in. That way if you post in one that you don't want to track you can just choose to unsubscribe from it.
Go to your User Control Panel. Under 'Settings & Options' select 'Edit Options'. Then look for the "Default Thread Subscription Mode" setting - I recommend you set it to "No email notification"

Right. I noticed the app has it but it's harder to do in the forum lol

If you want to view your subscribed threads and forums using the app then click the "Favorites" tab and you'll be able to view them.
Apologies if I misunderstood your problem.

If you want to see all of your participated threads in the browser view, go to the Advanced search, enter your username, make sure "Search All Open Forums" is selected under Search in Forums, leave everything else alone. Your results are displayed as threads in chronological order of last reply to that thread. The last reply of any member, not just you.
I did search, and nothing came up.
I checked the xda FAQ, but it seemed to be more about phones than actual forum questions..
So here goes, dont flame me if I didnt search enough, I did search.
Where is the option to see my posts? And then go to the thread and my last post in that thread to continue reading?
I searched Control Panel (which seems to be the only thing avaliable that pertains to my user) with magnifying glass.
Could not find.
I feel really stupid and sorry to ask such a noob question.
- Go to your own profile page (click on the user name in the upper right)
- Click the Statistics tab
- Click "find all posts by aliendna99"
Moved to About XDA section.
You can also go to the advanced search and then "Search by user name". It will then show your posts.

It would be good to have this as a direct link for example in 'Quick links' or near the username in the upper right (where 'Control Panel' and 'Log Out' are).
Yeah it could be great
And is it possible to have a "View my posts" link for having a follow up of threads where we participated without subscription. If an answer has been posted the thread is at the top of the list.
I'm on a french forum and this feature is very useful.
Thank you.

If you want to view all of your participated threads that way, you will need to use the Advanced Search, put your name in the User Name box, then make sure the Search in Forums selection is set to All Open Forums. Leave everything else on defaults. All your participated threads will be shown with the newest replied thread at the top.
Thank you,

Hi,
Got an improvement suggestion for the desktop site under Participated threads section:
This section shows 15 threads I participated in. It could have been OK, if not for the following:
1. Threads are sorted by their creation date. This means that if there are new posts in "veteran threads" (and there are lots of mega threads like these), they will soon be out of the list.
2. There's no way to see the next threads in the list (next 15 or so).
This means that if there are new posts in such threads in which I participated, I will not see them at all. Of course I can subscribe to all these threads, but why do so if there's a section for it?
Just to compare, if I browse the forum via the Tapatalk app, I'm able to see new posts in this section sorted by the date of the last post. I believe this should be the right way to go.
I think this is a small and necessary change that should be quite easy to implement.
Cheers.
Anybody home? Maybe this is not the right forum to raise such a suggestion?
Thanks for the suggestion, but we recommend subscribing to a thread if you want to be kept up to date on progress. The "Participated Threads" tab sorts in order of last update.

Thanks for your answer. However, it seems that at least on the desktop site, the "participated threads" section is not sorted by last update (as it should), but by thread creation order.
Kindly would like to bump this:
The participated section should have the exact effect as performing an advanced search with myself as the posting user. In this case, I'll get a list of the threads I have posted in, ordered by post date (threads with newer posts are shown first). If number of threads exceeds a page, then I can select the page for previous posts.
However, the participated section button shows only one page, where this page holds threads ordered by thread creation date.
What I think that should be done is that the participated button will simply imitate the search action described above. This is exactly what Tapatalk does, but unfortunately not what happens here. Of course I can always perform this advanced search to see what happens in the threads I participate in, but this is very cumbersome.
