Since update to official Android 11 version I'm getting serious battery drain:
- overnight drain - 10% (WiFi, 4g and bluetooth off)
- 3.3% drain per hour
- according to GSaM battery the main culprit is...Chrome?
So I've tried to:
- clear data and cache for Chrome
- force stop
Same behaviour.
Anybody else?
The users are reporting of unexpectedly high battery drain when the Google started pushing Android 11 update to the Pixels last month. Google is testing a new feature on Android 11, in order to improve battery life. This feature will allows users to freeze apps while they're cached, preventing their execution and improving battery life.
I don't think it affects everyone. Maybe exynos? I get the same battery life now as before upgrade 11, I use opera browser. I got the 8gb snapdragon version.
I do have Snapdragon version.
As per battery stats the issue seems to come from Chrome.
My only solution here it would be a hard reset but I don't want to install everything...
Is this update One UI 3.0 or 3.1?
I don't use chrome anymore battery hog
It's One Ui 3.0
Disabling completely Chrome has solve the issue for me.
Ok no issues for me thus far seems to be the same before update, i also have chrome. I will monitor as well, if so i will switch thanks for the heads up.

I have the same issue with my S20+ (Snap). The amount of time spent on Chrome is same (or much less) than on FB or Messenger but the usage is huge. Every 10 minute of using Chrome drains 3%. Thats a lot say you browse the webs for an hour (close to 20%). I already uninstalled, reinstalled, clear data, cache, whatever it is. It still exists and is very annoying

I'm sure another battery life thread exist but the search function is not working for some odd reason.
Anyhow, I recently bought this device(32 GB) model on Ebay and it is a refurbished edition. I updated it to the latest 4.4.2 and the device is amazing. However, one issue that disappoints me is the battery life. It lasts around 5-6 hours if I'm constantly browsing the web and watching videos. To charge it, it takes a good 7 hours. I looked at the battery and noticed that Android OS was responsible for 56% of the battery drainage. I notice the back of tablet(near the camera) getting very hot when I was playing some games as well.
I'm really trying to push this things to the limits to check to see if it's faulty so I can return it before the 14 days is up. My questions are, what is the typical battery life you users experience and how long does it usually take you users to charge it? Also, my Android OS has never taken up that much battery---is this normal? If not, how can I fix it?
Thanks!
Streaming videos kills battery in general but that's still high battery usage for Android OS. I suggest you invest BetterBatteryStats from the play store and see if something else is causing your battery drain. Post some screen shots when you get the app. I
My Android OS battery utilization is sitting at 7% at the moment. I don't stream much data, and but I think high Android OS battery utilization has more to do with background data than video or music streaming anyway
Few things to improve battery life in general is to disable location reporting and location history in GPS menu. Better yet, but disable GPS in general. Turn off the setting in the advanced wifi menu that let's apps scan wifi even if it's off for location data. Google+ and hangouts are big drainers... Disable or unistall them is you can or at least don't let them sync data. Go to Google account setting and disable syncing of anything you don't needs.
Edit: I just stream 1.5hrs (1.3gb data) of Netflix and my Android OS battery usage didn't go up. It's gotta be a rogue process taking CPU cycles/checking location/sending lots of data. Install BBS and see what's causing it. More than 7hrs of screen time for me today and I still have 25% battery left.

Charge Time = 4-5hrs.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will go ahead and d/l that app and see how it goes. I'll put up some screenshots and try to see if we can get to the bottom of it.
Dears,
I bought a G3 phone just a month ago and, apparently, the battery was lasting almost a whole day in the first two weeks, but, after that, the battery became to last less than half day. Of course I've installed some applications since then, but it's very strange because the Android doesn't report any abnormal processing load of any application, so I'm presuming the OS is causing the high battery consumption. After I bought the phone, I upgraded the OS to Lollipop almost forthwith. I'd like to know if it's a known issue of G3 with L version and there is something I can do to increase the battery life.
I've installed some applications that utilize the location services, but Android doesn't claim those applications are draining the battery. According to what Android reports, the screen and the OS are main things that are consuming more battery ( 24% for screen and 16% for OS )
Thanks in advance

You should root your LG G3, then install xposed, greenify amplify and powernap. Those apps will control your wakelocks and alarms. This will also improve your battery life.
May I also suggest to reduce screen DPI. Reduced mine from 640 to 534, added about 45-60 mins of SOT
Are you talking screen on time? Or idle battery drain. Because these are two very different things. Quite often it is the way you are using your phone and the applications installed that will cause your battery life to become worse.
Of course you have the obvious things such as disabling data when you aren't using it and wifi and so on. Through my experience I have found amplify to be of little use if you are generally cautious about the apps you install. Facebooks apps are terrible. Any instant messager will be causing some sort of drain. The problem definitely arrises from these things and while you can install many other apps to limit these things. I often find it is best to address the problem at the source. Perform a factory reset. Then begin installing your apps one by one and seeing when the hit comes. Thats my advice. Then find an alternative to the problematic app. That or BBS to find what is causing wakelocks. Remember, if you are gaming the processor is going to eat battery.
To follow up on orcam he is in the perfect rite direction as for reducing the dpi its a placebo effect you can read up on it on many threads and sot is in most case 7 to 12 min longer reduce britghness get rid of carrier iq is a big battery hog debloat the system apps like facebook and all the other bloat that lg uses is bad on battery life
The best way to get better battery:
1. Root
2. Debloat - delete useless app's and files from root directory!
3. 3845*#855# (855 its international model, put your model: 851, 852, etc) and search for Thermal Daemon Mitigation OFF, then click and enable it, and search Fast Dormancy and turn off, and in High Temperature Property OFF enable it too and turn off your phone for atleast 40 seconds, turn on and wait 1 minute with screen on to update those things.
4. Xposed with Greenify
5. TricksterMOD and set the CPU freq. to min. 300Mhz and max to 1.540MHz (if you use the phone normally, and dont play games).
6. in TricksterMOD set the GPU to 330Mhz for powersave.
7. Developer Options active the "Force GPU to 2D graphics"
8. Use brightness according with your needs, not only keep it in 100% (i know in 100% looks beautyful but screen is a battery beast).
This is what i have in mine and i can guarantee if you use moderate it can go up to 3 day's, mine got 5 hours and 20 minuts in On Screen Time so...
After upgrading to OOS 4.1.0 over OTA my Android System usage started to drain the battery. So i downloaded the full zip and did a complete clean flash of OOS 4.1.0. Even after that the Android System Usage is draining the battery. I'm attaching the screenshots. Any solutions to this ?
Clear Googleplay services cache and app data, then reboot.
Haven't tried it myself, though i have read it has helped many

Settings / apps / Google play services / manage data ( clear data )
Settings / backup and reset ( turn off backup )
Settings / battery , click the three dots at the top and check the power hungry apps and enable aggressive doze and whilst in aggressive doze settings turn on nearly all of the optimised apps just don't optimise things like phone , messenger , WhatsApp if you use them regularly ...
Hope this helps and if it does then please hit that thumbs up button it means the world to me....
are you rooted ?
This is probably not because of Google Play Services.
Can you share screenshot of "Android OS" battery usage as well? I bet it has keep awake time over 1.5hrs.
I also have a problem with my OP3 draining battery after android N
My battery is pretty much done in 12 hours with next to no screen on time...

Snap. I have the same problem here too. Only thing I haven't tried was switching backup off, but I really don't want to live without it, it's just too useful now.
My battery drains even when the phones not in use. I had great battery time at the start (6 months ago) but now it hardly lasts for 20 hours with normal use. Wonder what they did with the OS or maybe its cheap manufacturing
**** OOS... I littery Switched to VertexOS for this reason and I don't see a difference other then Vertex being way more peformant and batfery friendly.
Yeah, happens me every week after a clean install despite all the play services data delete, cache, etc. Always ends up like this. Hopes it gets fixed, Nougat hasn't been going well on our OP3
Me too, heavy draining even when I don't use my phone ?
Did someone already seen this?
Huge wake-up alarm from Android with job.delay and job.deadline :s
so i'm trying to figure out why my battery is draining so rapidly. I'm charging once and rarely twice during the day at this point. I'm running the latest and greatest from leedroid if that matters. attached a screenshoot for reference.
Anything else you need to help me with this just ask and I will answer. Thanks!
There doesn't look anything too bad from that screenshot. Have you got gsam battery monitor ? Try that and see what ' app use ' shows. I had a problem for a day or two on the same rom ( nothing rom related ) and no amount of reboots solved it. For some reason the kernel was keeping the phone awake 100% . Sometimes it's an app or a download or some media on the device, if it's a recent problem check everything that's been down or uploaded and any new media or app on the device. A wipe would likely fix it but try and narrow it down first. I think my issue was a play music download but can't be sure as I cleared cache, dalvic cache and data for several apps.
It's now back to usual ( 5 hrs SOT )

android system and kernel combined have 40%, they are the top 2 consumers and have the most wake locks.

That's slightly high but not drastic. There's a ton of factors for battery drain, what's the 'held awake' time versus the sleep and how much SOT do you get ?.
Another way to narrow things down is to leave it with data off for several hours to see if the drain stops.
There's dozens of options on Leedroid which could change battery life , including the kernel options in aroma . Ambient display can drain battery as can some of the ways to turn on the device.
You could try to wipe all the caches, clear data for Google apps and maybe dirty flash the ROM and see if things improve.
Maybe also try the battery calibration as detailed in other threads. There's a possibility the battery may be degrading of course, check the thread for that and see what your capacity is now.
Do you have the Facebook app installed. For some reason, I seem to notice battery drain more with some Facebook updates. I don't know what it is but my phone will easily last a day, Facebook update arrives and phone needs charging twice a day. Another Facebook update arrives and its ok again.
I think something is really wrong with the 10 lately. My battery goes down like crazy as well, I first thought it was my device and performed a factory reset, but still the same issue. Now I see that there are a lot of people mentioning the same thing the last few days.. Can't be a coincidence that my battery went bad along with others' at the same time..

i have ambient display off, i also selected one of the battery saving kernels. i had about 10 thousand wakelocks coming from powermanangerservice.wakelock this morning. the sucky part is i got frustrated and just uninstalled better battery stats after seeing that. i know that wakelock means there are tons of partial wakelocks.... it's just becoming a pain. hate my phone right now.
()after i left work) i just installed better battery stats again and i'm gonna let it sit.

no facebook, just instagram but instagram displayed no high usage and had a small amount of wakelocks.

Mine was bad again yesterday but back to good today. Only change was a Google play update ( pushed by google, I assume play services as it updates itself not through the store ). Maybe see if there is a more recent play services that helps you.
I thought power management services was the turning on of the screen/device but may be wrong , do you have wake gestures enabled ?

no wake gestures, honestly i disable all the bells and whistles b/c battery on most phones. and here's what i got after a days use, SOT 2:50. The important thing to note my phone rarely get's used. text throughtout the day and video on the train ride home. music. i think that's pretty basic. what're you guys thoughts?
below are screenshots from Better Battery Stats of kernel and partial wakelock.

hi, has anyone experienced the battery drain when the phone is idle?
last night i've left the phone on 20-22% battery and when i woke up - the phone was turned off because the battery reached 0%...
when it charged - the idle battery consumption was off the wall...
device is about a month and a half old...
i'm using stock MIUI (latest, EU), not rooted
phone is slightly debloated via adb fastboot tool...
phone doesn't use 5G network at home or ever, mobile data is turned off when i'm home
i just can't figure out what is happening...
thanks in advance
Debloated too much I think. Have the same issue when I have Samsung Phone and used adb debloater
not sure about that...
i didn't touch any crucial Xiaomi apps, just recommended ones and never had any bebloat battery drain issues on any device which was debloated or even rooted
update:
last night i left the device with 38% battery, just to see what would happen
in the morning, 8 hours after - it still had 35% charge strange...
note: in the meantime, i adjusted some apps not to work in the background if not needed and uninstalled (almost) never used Google Lens (which i've installed few days ago to try something)
didn't touch any battery settings for common social and messaging apps that i use (Facebook, fb messenger, google messages)
so, maybe the culprit was either google lens or some of those adjusted apps - or the device doesn't read the battery well when under 30%... i'll see what will happen in the next few days...
@60nine Settings > Battery > Battery Use (check "Daily battery usage chart")
Look there if you see any app that has consumed much battery.
you seriously think that i don't already know how to check this? (how do you think i've found that the idle was draining the battery?
no suspicious apps there, idle battery consumption was at the top...
Sorry, I overlooked that you have already wrote it is the idle drain and not a specific app
no problem
