Guys, I come from the past (2015), and back in my days, we used something called xposed with cool addons to block YT ads, and many more things...
Now I am a dinosaur, and haven't thinkered with rooting for years.
Is there any way to block YT ads on current Android 9, and 10 gadgets? (one plus 5. Samsung note 8, 10, s20, Tablet TabA, Tab S6, etc...) with or without rooting?
I noticed some ROMs that come with AdblockPlus pre cooked, but many just offer a dedicated browser with YT ad block, and I rather not download another browser for it, but a dedicated solution.
Any help??

Ironically, I have Magisk flashed on an old Lollipop Fire 7 tablet, and some of the modules are xPosed, and some xposed relative succesors within Magisk. I tried using them to no avail , and when browsing for other Magiks modules, none of them offer ad blocking on YT for this particular old device.
I do like that Vanced app though, hopefully it's stable enough. Thank you for the info!!!

Went to search on YouTube for Firetv and the display went (for lack of a better term) wonky.
Has anyone had this happen or know of a way to fix it.
I have already restarted, cleared cache and data.
It's rooted and updates are blocked.

I just checked for you. Both my rooted Fire TV running 51.1.1.0_user_511070220 and my unrooted Fire TV running 51.1.3.0_user_513011520 are having the same issue.
I suspect the Fire TV YouTube app is an HTML5 app just loading a slightly modified version of http://youtube.com/tv so if that's the case, it's probably being caused by a bug on their end and will likely get fixed eventually. Not much you can do other than contact YouTube about it.
...or since you have root, install the YouTube HD Mod from XDA forums,as it does not require Google Play components like the normal YouTube app.
Heck, you don't even need root to install it because you could sideload it like any other app!
Gonna come right out and say it,Fire TV versions of YouTube and Twitch SUCK!
Their version of Twitch even lacks the ability to search.
I grabbed the 2.5.0 main version of Twitch (3.0 versions force close on Fire TV),and it works perfectly!
What seals the deal is that you can use keyboard and mouse for better compatibility with sideloaded apps, all without needing root!
Both sideloaded YouTube and Twitch work just fine when you got a keyboard like my Logitech K400r.
Recently it seems that some badly written apps are trying to use bluetooth for beacons and are killing my battery in the process. In the past I found that Gasbuddy was the culprit and could work around the problem by killing it. Now it's happening again, The apps aren't showing up in the battery display but bluetooth keeps popping up as the second largest user of battery. For example, right now my phone has been off the charger for 3 hours and bluetooth is listing 32 minutes of CPU time and 1 Hour 19 Minutes of wakelocks. It never used to even show up on the list.
What tool can I use on a non-rooted phone to identify the app that is hammering bluetooth and causing that kind of usage.
Thanks for the advice,
I don't claim to know best non root or even best rooted rooted solution but I the short time I glanced at Google Play, this one caught my attention: no permissions or ads.

Attached is highest app regarding battery concerns. The Windows drop down but only option given is to uninstall. If there's an auto starts app that doesn't require root, that may be an alternative to add more control to these apps of concern.
I usually just use the Recents/Active applications to see what's active but you're right, there's activity hiding from this monitor. Only some are neglecting permissions.
Gee, I thought someone had said no ads in their review? Adaway adware scan didn't reflect this as a concern. Any doubt why I love root?

I don't know how well it works for non root phones but greenify now has an auto hibernation mode for non root users.

@poit
While looking for an Adaway alternative for systemless root, I came upon an app which produced a link for permissions app and ad blocker; both have no root requirements.
https://m.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3vxa3b/managing_app_permissions_and_systemwide_ad_on/
You may have to search for the ad blocker but the permissions app is on XDA

I wouldn't recommend the auto installer unless temporarily enabling it for automated long process. I've used these rooted permissions apps but this one is very simple in approach although I had to ignore a lot of middle risk apps that I trust.
I installed both apps and scanned with no concerns. I'm liking the results so far.

Hi all, occasionally I'll get a parallel app within my app drawer, a reboot fixes it, for a while, just curious if anyone else has seen this or knows of a permanent fix? I'm the screenshot I've attached you can see the calendar app duplicated which isn't even an app that should be able to duplicate.

System info:
Oxygen OS 11.2.7.7 LE15AA
Rooted with Magisk 23001
Magisk app version 23001
Update channel:Canary
Magisk modules
Systemless Hosts
BusyBox for Android NDK
Nova launcher (though I've seen it happen with stock too)
Omega kernel 5.4.61
Hopefully that's enough info.

I unfortunately have not. It's definitely annoying though! I still don't know what triggers it either because I don't use parallel apps ever.
I had this issue when I ran Island for it's battery saver features as that manipulates user groups I think. Only time I've had that happened and you didn't mention the app though so probably not any help

The battery saving apps I'm using are greenify, naptime, servicely. (unrelated to battery sort of I'm using the GPU underclock from FKM)
Update 06/18/2021:
I reorganized my app drawer, making folders and putting everything in there or hiding the app icons via Nova Launcher (was able to hide the calendar with the parallels app icon), and so far after a reboot it hasn't come back but I also haven't used my phone much so not sure what is triggering it still.
So I've been messing around in logcat and looking for anything that might stick out and it looks like somehow apps are being randomly added to user 999. It's extremely evident when using smart launcher. pretty much any app I install is getting a duplicated parallels app.

The only way I've found to fix this is to remove the created user within adb
https://actuallydavide.com/blog/2019/04/13/how-to-remove-work-profiles-on-oneplus-devices/ this article details on how to do this. Don't worry about removing the user, if/when you create another parallel app via oneplus UI it recreates user 999.
First day on new Samsung Galaxy S21 FE phone. After some hours, I noticed that I don't have a search features in Settings anymore. It was there as expected on Android, but now it simply disappears. Any idea what can change this behavior?
Additional info - I made debloat as instructed in XDA forum for Samsung phones. Maybe there was something which could damage it?
You debloated it Dependencies...
Be very careful what you disable especially with the smaller Samsung system apps. Some are useless bloatware, but many just sit there unless needed.
In Android 10 Samsung added dozens of small system apps that preserve the UI functionality and appearance. Android 9 on the same device didn't have them but both look and behave nearly identically.
The "damage" isn't permanent. Either undo the edit(s) that caused it or a factory reset will purge all the edits and revert it to factory default settings.
Tnx.
I didn't find a solution, so I made a factory reset.
Now it works again (until my next debloat session ).
I use a package disabler and block about 80.
Some of the lists I've seen are way more than I would do. Things like that settings search feature which can be useful at times.
I poked around a bit, this is the app that provides that service.

I really appreciate you making this comment even after OP had resolved their issue. It's very helpful for future people who end up searching Google for the same issue, like I just did, haha.
I found my search function missing as well and I figured it had to have been dependent on an app I disabled, but I couldn't imagine what app. Thankfully I landed here and your comment saved me a lot of time I would have spent scouring up and down the apps list.
Funny thing is I don't remember ever even seeing the Settings Suggestions app when I was debloating. I definitely would have figured out what that was for and not disabled it. I used the app "ADB AppControl" on Windows and I did run the "Basic" (lowest level) Debloat wizard, assuming it wouldn't disable anything so essential, but I'm certain that's what must have disabled it. So there's a warning for anyone else, always be careful with one-click solutions! Hopefully this helps anyone else who ends up here on another future Google search.
Hi,
Does anyone know how to get rid of (remove/hide) the battery icon from the status bar, while still showing the battery percentage, particularly on stock Android 13?
This could have easily be done on previous Android versions through the Gravity box XPosed module however, no working version is currently available for Android 13.
Already tried :
Firefds Kit works fine and I have it installed, BUT it doesn't come with this feature.
I've tried AOSP Mods but it doesn't work on Samsung's stock Android 13.
The SystemUI Tuner app can no longer access Samsung's System UI.
I would appreciate any suggestion, other than the ones already mentioned above, that is known to be working on Samsung's stock Android 13.
Thanks!

You're welcome. Seems too easy, doesn't it?
Quickstar is a great moding app...
Don't forget One Handed Operation plus, it's not like what it sounds.
I use NavStar, Clockface and Task Changer a lot too. The app Double Tap as well.
Stock N10+ running on Pie with lots of UI bending apps. They use very little battery.

Right, it does seem too easy!? I was in denial for the first 5 seconds...
I still rely heavily on LMT, Tasker, Firefds Kit and other root-based customization tools but I'll definitely check out the other suggestions as well. Again, thanks a bunch!
