Split-screen opens from recent apps menu, when you're use stock realme launcher. But I'm just installed a custom launcher, and application split-screen feature doesn't work. That's feature working only with stock launcher app, if it has been set as default home screen app. This is not cool. I have an idea: if we name custom launcher's package name as stock launcher package name, and replace stock app by this, will this does work?
I use Nova Launcher and splitscreen works tho I don't use it. If I want to go back and forth on different apps I use the recent menu it is more convenient, shows full screen and can jump between many apps not just 2

Newly installed KF won't hold Home Switcher settings.
I change the default launcher UI to ADW or Apex, and Trebuchet comes back on the next context change. For example, when I go into Settings, ADW is my launcher on the way in. Come back out, and I am in trebuchet again. Clicking "Set Default" will not hold.
I have a root shell on it. Can I edit a config file or `echo 1 > somefile` to get the setting to be persistent?
Do other people have nonpersistent home launcher settings?
I have already cleared cache and data for ADW and home Switcher, BTW.
I am on gedeROM 1.3, BTW.
EDIT: Well, to somewhat answer my own question, I turned off the other launchers by moving them to OFF_ApexLauncher.apk.off, etc. Now, only ADW has launchability. Seems OK, but is a crude solution.
You can always uninstall Home Switcher, unless it's something you particularly use.
My goal was to have the ability to switch between launchers, if it became necessary.
Unfortunately, without Home Switcher, I'd be stuck on Trebuchet, as well. I find ADW to be cleaner and more customizable.
I think I know what's going on now. When you have multiple launchers the system usually asks you which program you would like to use to perform a certain action and it usually happens when you hit the home button. It's supposed to give you the option of setting one as default, which is probably why it keeps going back to Trebuchet...You might have inadvertently chose Trebuchet as default.
Trebuchet and Apex were installed, with Apex being the default, I believe.
As i was re-adding my apps from the Play Store, I noticed that i had a full paid version of ADW Launcher. So, I installed that and a couple of themes.
I tested and it worked. So, I installed Home Switcher, and set ADW as the default launcher. It worked for a while.
I don't know what the trigger was, but at some point, the behavior switched back to going to Trebuchet (which has a different geometry for rows and columns, hence looks chunkier than ADW). No matter what I did, I could not get Home Switcher to change back to ADW and have the change (clicking "Set as Default") become persistent. Going in to Settings, then back to home, would switch Launchers.
So, i just renamed the apks for the other two launchers. I removed Home Switcher, and now the tablet works as I wish. It's just a brute-force approach, as root will let you perform. ;-)
I upgraded my Note to the Note II. On the homescreen of my Note I, I can place 5 icons in a row on the homescreen.
Now, with the Note II, I can only place 4 icons in a row on the homescreen, and the dock has 5!
Is somewhere an option, so I can place 5 icons in a row on the homescreen too?
None that I found, TW launcher doesn't even have settings AFAIK. If you want more, get either a modded TW (maybe SGS3 forums) or a completely different one.

One of the nicest things about Android that gets taken for granted is the ability to customize your user interface. While most folks tend to stick to app icons for launching their apps, Tagy offers an alternative approach: a tag cloud. Tagy is actually a set of widgets that let you specify a list of apps, contacts, or bookmarks to appear in a single widget. Then, as you use the widget, the items you use more often will get bigger.

This can be remedied by simply downloading and using a different launcher.
Android allows the user to completely change the UI by using different launchers.
There are many launcher apps available in the market, but 'Go Launcher' is my personal favorite.
Just download 'Go Launcher' and install it. Once you run it and set it as default, you can change the grid size to anything you want (10x10 max). It even allows you to get rid of the dock, (which I really like), since I have no use for the dock icons on screens other than the home screen.
For instance, I currently have a 4.3" phone with no dock row and a grid size of 8x5 icons and no icon labels. Works very well for me.
One side effect is that you won't be able to use any apps or widgets that need the TW framework to run. I have never used a TW ROM so I don't know any more specifics.
In any case, if you don't like the new launcher, you can change it back to the default TW by going into 'Apps' settings; select the current launcher app and click on 'Clear Defaults'. Press the 'Home' key and this will prompt the system to ask you to choose a launcher. Simply choose your default TW and go back to your original screen. You can do this unlimited number of times without any problems. This will allow you to try out different launchers available in the Play Store.
Good Luck!
i'm using Nova launcher, and have it set as 7 down by 6 across... 5 custom dock buttons for ease of access at the bottom finish it off for me

OMG, I wish I had seen this thread prior to purchasing my AT&T SGNII. SMH
I am personally not that taken with the Nextbit Robin native launcher, and have decided to go with Nova Launcher instead.
If you want to see the basic cloud functions of the phone and what still works on Nova take a look at the article on my blog here which includes a youtube video walkthrough:

Just so you know, you can pin apps and unpin apps very easily in Nova. While in the stock launcher, you can enable debug settings in the Smart Storage by tapping on the version. Then enable Smart Storage in Launcher. Then when you switch back to Nova, when you want to pin an app, go to the Smart Storage app and select Pin Apps in the menu. Profit.

I use Evie Launcher from PlayStore.
Lawnchair or Evie Launcher are pretty good and lightweight. I'm using Lawnchair for years and never faced any problems.
Total Launcher. Have been using it for a few years now, on my phone, tablet and Android e-book reader and it's been working without issues on each of them all this time.
My favorite is Ruthless Pixel launcher (beta) from XDA Labs.

If you disable the stock launcher you will get Oreo recents. I think it is also related to some Google stuff...
I use a Magisk module to "hide" system apps I don't want, including the stock launcher.

You don't need root though. You can use adb to remove the stock launcher.
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
If you disable the stock launcher with adb, I don't know how to get it back.
You could probably "freeze" the app with Titanium (root) too?
Note: If you disable the stock launcher make sure you always have at least one launcher installed or your phone won't work!
Oh, and I use Apex
Nova is always a solid choice as well ?
Still Nova Launcher

It's been a few years since Xiaomi blocked this functionality with third-party launchers by integrating its launcher into the system.
