Strange light next to camera

Hello guys,
I foun a strange red "light" next to my front camera. Will upload a picture very soon, but has someone an idea, what it is? It is red, but only lights up, if screen is locked. When the screen is off, or unlocked the "light" is off to.
I have not found something similar here...
Please tell me it is not dangerous
Proximity sensor.

The teardown at https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Google+Pixel+C+Teardown/62277 says at Step 4 "The front-facing camera assembly contains a 2 MP selfie cam, ambient light sensor, and what looks like a camera indicator LED." Full size photo at https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/NgYV6anKZIYNCi3p - if you get a blank screen look at your browser scroll bars, you may be viewing the top LH corner.
I've never seen the LED lit. The Nexus 9 has a notification LED that does nothing (possibly) and the thread ran to 90+ posts (including x-ray photos) http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/general/led-nexus-9-t2929379
This is the camera auto focus laser. It can be seen whenever the front camera is turned on. Google turns on your camera in the lock screen so it can use trusted face unlock - even if you have not enabled trusted face.

But why the red light is not glowing when taking photos with the front cam?
Still very mysterious
I wasn't able to see it while making a photo with Front camera. I'm not even sure, if I have seen the light before. I'm sure I haven't noticed it before, but it is quite bright. Can you see it too?

Finger print LED as Notification LED

Hi guys
I was thinking if it is possible to use finger print scanner LED as a notification LED? I know it may not be currently possible but just floating the idea for the devs who make things possible all the time
I know the LED is huge to be used as notification LED but some people would love to have an LED instead of a ringtone or vibration alerts, thanks in advance for any help in this regard
I don't know if this is possible but this is a fantastic idea.
If this is actually possible it would be awesome!
Great idea, but is there really a separate LED ? I had always assumed that the FP uses the green lighting from the display itself....

Yes I thought it was like that.
I think it doesn't matter if there's a separate LED to light up the display or part of the screen itself is used as a notification LED, but I think all possibilities are there, to choose the color, random colors each time or per app, position on the screen etc...
I don't really see the point in using those specific pixels as a notification LED when any other pixels on the display work just as well. And if anything, you'd want to avoid lighting up the fingerprint pixels too much since they are being used more at high brightness and therefore more susceptible to burn-in.

I want one to do like Samsung's edge lighting. That with Pixel Pulse would be perfect.
Amy work on this?
I disabled fps on my 6t because of the annoyingly high brightness of this green circle when your finger is close!
I don't think there is a led, I saw a video where they open the 6t and access the sensor module, it's just a camera sensor under the screen, the amoled brightness is boosted in this particular part of the screen, that's all.
Thanks God they didn't use a laser light, half the people would go (really) blind.
You can use an app like noled to simulate a led anywhere on your screen.
What about this app?

Yes, that is the app that a lot of us have been using with no issues. You just have to go into the settings and tweak it to your likings.

Abnormal colors on selfie camera in low light

Hey
So I bought the phone (Note10+ 5G) about 3 days ago and everything was working fine even the selfie cam
But today when I changed live focus effect everything get ruined especially in low light
In the viewfinder there is a color flicker and a part of the screen changes to green or red effect
And everything get worse in video
Here is a 2sec sample in low light:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-3bzKBjWNgb2OtRRSEwcwiGFniwd5d9b/view?usp=drivesdk
So what is wrong here?
edit / nevermind, watched the video and do not understand your problem...
live focus ? color flicker?
In live focus the effect green/red exists as part of the background effect. Your video does not show anything since there is nothing to focus on. You need a face for it to show anything correctly.
And you can change the live focus effect at the bottom of the screen, you have several icons for this and the far right icon is the red/green thingy.
If you cannot manage to get the settings right, just reset the camera (settings -> scroll down to initialize parameters).
Also, do not activate HDR+ for videos (available for 1920x1080 30p). This option is in beta and is buggy with many colour artefacts.

How to turn off adaptive display? White balance and RGB settings not working?

Does anyone know how to turn off the s20's adaptive display feature? (I'm not asking about adaptive brightness.) I'm on a US snapdragon, unlocked, regular S20. Thanks!
I am referring to:
"Samsung's adaptive super AMOLED screen optimizes the color range, saturation, and sharpness of the picture depending on what you're watching or doing."
https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00063051/
The vivid/natural, white balance, and advanced RGB settings mentioned in that link do NOT seem to impact the adaptive display feature. (And in fact, white balance and RGB settings don't seem to do anything at all... If anyone has thoughts about why THAT is, or how to make them actually have an effect, I'm interested.)
I have tried turning off dark mode completely, turning off the video enhancer, and turning off the dark mode on wallpaper, but the problem persists and impacts things like apps and pages in Chrome - basically everything.
If I look at my task switcher, app screens will often look the way I want them to in the preview, but when I click on one, after about a second the display adjusts and changes the image to something brighter, whiter, and less what I want. This is true whether adaptive brightness is on OR off.
I'm trying to use a screen filter to manually set the screen to the settings I need, and it feels like the screen is fighting the filter and countering it, and I think this business with the adaptive display optimizing color and saturation could be the problem. Or if you have other ideas for the source of the problem, I want to hear them.
Any help is appreciated!

It was something like attached picture on Note 9
Ah hah! I think I figured out a solution to my problem (which was that the whites were too blue and bright and vivid as compared to everything else on the screen, no matter what settings I used on Twilight or another screen filtering app). For anyone who comes after me with a similar issue: the native blue light filter doesn't JUST turn on/off - it has an opacity setting which you can find and adjust by clicking on "blue light filter" in your display settings menu, to the left of the on/off toggle switch. Turning it all the way up (to the right) tones down the whites and blues without impacting the rest of the colors on the screen, which for me at least creates a much better color display ratio.
