hello,
I own vw polo 2019 with an android head unit, with a launcher installed by the dealer.
it hides a lot of apps including settings.
about a year ago I was able to somehow download play store and install some apps, but after an update the play store and the apps Ive downloaded are gone (idk if deleted or just hidden because of the launcher).
now, I heard there is a way to access the web browser via the Waze app (if anyone has a different way I’ll be glad), and install the store again.
but my problem starts here - I no longer have data connection in my car, meaning I need to connect it to hotspot, but since I can’t access the settings app, I can’t do it.
I don’t know much about android since I have an iPhone, so is there anyone who knows how to access settings, and install play store again? and better - change the launcher so I will not have to do it all the time?
thanks!
hello?

I just got my Fire TV yesterday and unfortunately it was not able to be rooted out of the box due to its software version. I was able to side load google play store, framework, account manager, and the proper google play services (7.0.99). Apparently this is the last version of play services that will properly function with the fire TV, anything beyond will not work.
First off play store never connects, it always says no connection. So then I side loaded some games to try. They launch but then tell me play services needs to be updated. I have tried side loading the most up to date play services just to give it what it wants and still have no success because the install fails, saying "failed, older SDK".
I simply want to play the games that I already own from the Google play store. Is there any way to do this?
***UPDATE***
I was able to side load over the apks for the updated google play services. And then use es file explorer on the fire tv to install the updated services. It allowed an install and the game launches as normal, it just sits there for 3 seconds and then crashes back to home screen. Tried another game and it just says a network error has occurred and all I can do is retry or cancel.
Just tried another game and it seems to function as normal but at the home screen the game says invalid license. It's a paid app so I'm guessing it can't validate that I paid for it since the play store isn't working. Trying another app now, it's free. Waiting for side load. I'm guessing the play store will never work without root. Anyway to get a new fire TV that ships with older software?
Got a bunch of games to work. It appears that some will work and others just... won't. Some of them are heavily dependent on the play store or something and without my ability to get that working because I can't root, I will have to stick with what I can do. Also some of the games that I can get going have absolutely no controller support and I cant even get passed the title screen. Ill play what I can from the Amazon store I guess.
I have rooted Kindle Fire's in my classroom (because it was the cheapest way to get devices in the hands of my students!) but at school I cannot download apps from the Google Play Store (Appstore works fine). I used Root Junky's Super Tool and I'm wondering if there's something with how it's running that is causing a security issue with the school's wifi, as I can download the apps at home and I can use the school's wifi to download apps from my phone.
If so, how would I work around this? Since most of the apps I use are from the Play Store and it's really cumbersome to have to bring them home for installs/updates, etc.
I rooted them myself but am generally clueless about how things work. I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Hello all, I am not sure if this has already been ask and I apologise if it has. I have a 2015 Honda Civic head unit in which I am eagerly trying to install TomTom go on. Unfortunately it requires the installation of TomTom from play store, before installing the modded one. I have managed to install the play store on the head unit and it's loading properly. The problem is I cannot install the apps (permission issues I presume). It gives message saying cannot download. I've added GO.apk to the Honda permissions list. However I do not know the name of the APK as the play store would try to install it. My question is, is there a way to get root access to this device or to give play store the necessary permissions? Or does anyone know of a modded version of TomTom that does not require the play store. If I get root access to the devices, I presume I can copy over the files directly to the head unit or edit the manifest? I'm not an android programmer.
Search Honda Hack - It is a one click solution to rooting and gaining access to install apps.
This wasn't available, unfortunately, when I first started trying to root mine (I bricked it once, convinced dealer it was a hardware issue and they replaced the head unit THANKFULLY!. TY Warranties)...
The Honda Hack package is great, you connect to wifi or hotspot from your head unit, use the built in browser app to go to their site, (buy it from computer - pro version first. Tried free, limitations suck),
once on site, it asks for authorization code - enter the code you got from purchasing and then it does the rest for you.
You can then install some pre-set apps they have in the honda hack menus, rearrange your home screen (this was my favorite feature), and you can use the file browser app to remotely connect into your computer (or use a second USB drive plugged into a 2nd USB port in the car) and load any APKs compatible with your head units android version (Find this in app list --> settings --> about) that you can find here on the forums or from apkmirrors.
I've got netflix, youtube, waze, file explorer, google play, google play services, and a few others right now.
Hi,
I just bougth a HeadUnit witn Android 10, I haven't been able to connect my android mobile phone. I believe the manufacturer didn't install any mirrorlink server or I am not able to find it. I keep asking the manufacturer trough Aliexpress, and theu say that they are checking with any kind of help for a week.
Reading on the internet I have found two options that may work:
1. Phonelink app: I use it and it work for the first time. But it cannot be used from the HeadUnit screen and it has not work again...
2. EasyConnection app: It seems a good option, but I found a website with a versión for android 9, and I have not been able to connect with the mobile phone ever.
Can I get the last versión of the EasyConnection Server (for the HeadUnit) and some kind of manual, please? I get that after install that, I download from Play Store the EasyConnection app for my mobile phone and it should work, is that rigth?
I have connected the phone by cable, by bluetooh and by wifi (access point of the car) all al the same time. I have activated the USB debug and the option to force resize on my mobile phone. It worked the first time that way with PhoneLink! But I would like EasyConnection or any other software that can be used from the HeadUnit screen, please.
Thanks in advance for the help!!
Have a happy new year!
I found what I believe is the easyconnection server app for the head unit, but it is in Chinese I don't understand anything after installing it.
The version is 6.6.2-662
Another issue! Is there any way to force the new apps I install to resize on the screen? The Head Unit has two bars, one on the top and another one athe the bottom. And some apps I have installed (Android Auto for example) does not fit and the menu options are under these bars and I lose important parts of the apps... Could you please help me to figure out, how to manage the resize of the apps? Thanks!
