The brightness randomly decreases/increases sometimes on stock miui rom.
I have 3 poco m2 pro and the issue occurs on two of them. Both of these were bought in July when the poco M2 pro was sold in its first sale. I bought the third one in October and the issue does not seem to be present there.
Basically brightness decreases randomly in certain apps. It can be reproduced with 100% reproduction rate in the following situations [keep brightness to max to notice it easily]
1.Launch camera app from homescreen. [more noticeable with white homescreen background] You'll see the brightness dip immediately. The brightness will increase back again to normal value after you close camera by pressing home/back button.
2.In Youtube, when you pull down the notification shade, you'll notice the brightness increases a bit [video must keep playing, paused wont work. Watch some bright video like Graham's explanation of the Gamestop stock video]
3.Open a doc in drive pdf viewer, hide the app ui by letting it stay for a while. Then trigger the ui by tapping on the pdf somewhere, the ui elements come onscreen and brightness also increases.
It also occurs in other apps but cannot reproduce reliably. I have darkmode on,Sunlight mode and auto brightness disabled and the forced dark mode for apps disabled.
Factory format does not help. I visited the service center as well, they took a bug report and said everything is fine. I have been back and forth from the service center and poco email customer service regarding this. They have formatted my phone several time but have been unable to fix the issue and insist nothing is wrong with the device, even though they do also agree that they notice the brightness dip/increase. I argued they should replace my devices if they can't figure out the issue , but they refused and as such now refuse me service at the service center. Please advice.

With auto-brightness turned off and brightness turned up all the way, I am seeing the brightness go down when some apps are launched and turn back up when the app is closed. I noticed this today when launching GoChat and then also saw it when launching the stock jellybean web browser. I am not sure but I think this has only been happening since the last software update (T-Mobile USA).
I wonder if others are noticing this.

Saw the same thing when I launched camera app, I am on the latest update.

From DisplayMate:
Since the display often uses 50 percent or more of the total Smartphone power, various display power management schemes are frequently used. The Galaxy S4 uses one innovative approach to overcome this – when Automatic Brightness is turned on, the Peak Brightness becomes significantly brighter in high ambient lighting than is possible with Manual Brightness, up to as high as 475 cd/m2, which is 34 percent higher than is possible with Manual Brightness. This is done so that users can’t permanently set the brightness to very high values, which would run down the battery quickly. From Samsung:
Samsung Adapt Display: The Galaxy S4 "learns" what you are viewing and adjusts the display's brightness accordingly. If the phone senses you are reading an article, for example, it will illuminate from a more muted brightness.

Well, I have auto-brightness, auto adjust screen tone and power saver ALL TURNED OFF, but this 'feature' persists... and as I said, this is not just during web browsing, this is also during messaging with a 3rd party app, namely GoChat, with black background theme.... this is just not a smart feature.
maybe this is taken care of in the new update. i haven't unpacked it just yet. hoping to do that over the weekend or maybe even tonight.

What you're describing sounds like how Adapt Display is supposed to work. Does the display act any differently when you enable Adapt Display?

I have the same issue. Turned everything off completely and it still happens. I posted about a week ago and some people were having the same issue.
Some people said it was adapt display on, but I have it off. Once I switched to.the CM10.1 the issue went away. I switched back to wicked Rom and I'm still getting the same problem.
Maybe a dev will eventually figure it out while building a Rom

It seems like this is a feature that cannot be disabled by the end user. This is from Anandtech's review
"On the brightness front, the SGS4 includes dynamic contrast functions that cannot be disabled and change as a function of what is being displayed. There's an "auto adjust screen tone" checkbox under display but don't let that fool you, that doesn't disable dynamic contrast, just white point."

If it really annoys you, you can always try rooting it and install CM10. I'll be a drastic change but at least you wont have to deal with Samsung's bloat
I recently upgraded my android wear device from an LG G watch to the 1st Gen Moto 360. I have the same apps installed on both (other than a couple dormant watchface apps), and I've never experienced this on my LG...
After I set my watch to any brightness value (1-5 or Auto), once the screen goes to sleep then the display turns back on (via button press, screen tilt, etc.), the brightness is immediately back to the brightest setting... You can imagine what this is doing to my battery life!
I have factory reset my watch 4 times now and the problem persists. I have toggled on and off the Ambient Screen, Tilt to wake and Card previews, just in case... No luck
My best guess is that a third party app is overwriting the phone's settings, but I can't track it down (especially since I have the identical setup on my LG G watch with no issues).
I regularly use the brightness slider with Wear Mini Launcher and after a sleep, the slider is all the way back at Max again.
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon on their Moto 360 or other Android Wear devices? Any suggestions on how to fix or troubleshoot this issue?
Currently, I can't go but a few hours before I have to charge my watch
Update...
As it turns out, the culprit was Smart Wear System SWS... I'm reaching out to the developer now
Guys how are you doing? I'm having a strange issue with my phone, i've searched the forum about it but couldn't find anything about it other than a couple of messages without any conclusion. This problem is mostly noticeable when having the screen in minimum brightness, it's like the backlight flickers a bit. If writing an SMS for example, whenever you press a keyboard key the screen flickers (it's very faint but noticeable). Also, when you open any app, it's like the brightness goes up a bit and down again, it's a very strange issue. Is anyone having this problem? Seems to be a software glitch because if you leave the phone in a static screen, that doesn't happen. It's updated to the latest fw version btw, it always happened.
To make it clear (and if anyone wants to try it), this happens with auto brightness, and the slider set to the minimum in a dark condition, whenever the brightness is medium/high at least i can't notice it.
Hey everyone!
As the title say i'm facing a issue with my always on display.
I'll try to make it as simple as possible:
When I set the always on display to be always active it works flawlessly.
When I set the always on display to activate on tap (and last for 10 seconds according to the settings) it appears for roughly 3 seconds and then disappears for 3-4 and reappears flickering for 2-3 times sometimes showing the desktop wallpaper between each flicker.
Did anyone experience the same issue?
What I did to try and fix it was:
- tested both on battery and while charging
- factory reseted and then restored backup (which was stupid, that lead me to the second point)
- start in safe mode (to check whether it was an app causing troubles) but no such luck, problem still occurs.
- uninstalled "nice lock" apps
- changed some settings under the always on display tab
- cleared cache of the always on app
What you should know:
- I'm running android 9, not rooted and have nova launcher as default home
- After I factory reseted the phone I wanted to stop always on display from updating to test whether it was a new version issue but I forgot and didn't make it in time so I'm currently running the latest version
Does anyone have any idea as of why it's behaving like this?
edit: just wanna be a little more clear, flickering is not meant like a lightbulb it's more something like it turns off and back on after a delay (I'm sorry english is not my native language I can't really explain it any better)

i also experience the same.
this phone has many strange bugs.
when i restart my A70, tap to show always on display works for me for 2-3 times.
after 2-3 times working correctly, the bug starts.
after i tap the screen, it shows AOD for 2 seconds. then turns the screen off and then at the end of the 10th second, screen just flashes itself for the last time and turns off completely.
i think it is related to the fingerprint scanner.
because after i registered my fingerprints and turned on unlocking the screen by the FP reader, this bug ends.
after i tap the screen it shows both the clock and fingerprint icon at the bottom of the screen.
after 2 seconds fingerprint icon disappears. and the clock is continued to be shown until the end of 10th second.
but there is a minor issue, when the fingerprint icon disappears, the AOD screen brightness changes. dims or brighter slightly.
can you please try tap to show AOD, by enabling the fingerprint unlocking?
samsung ?

Hey! Thanks for the answer, I can confirm we have the exact same issue. I also have the same brightness issue you described
Anyway, I have always used fingerprint unlock though so I don't know what to answer you.. I only recently noticed the weird behavior. I did a couple things to test and I found out that enabling the "fingerprint" icon showing in the always on display seems to "fix" the issue of the flicker but not the one of the brightness change (after enabling it i've yet to see the problem occur), you should try it and let me know if you see any improvement. It's probably on samsung's end though and hopefully we get it fixed with android 10 or earlier
I'll take this chance to ask you another question; two weeks ago I received a software update and ever since that day I noticed my battery to be lasting waaaay less than it used to, did you update your phone as well? Did you notice a battery drain?
I have the issue both of you talking about.
hello, I had this same issue and what I did was turn the phone off, and booting it up while pressing "Volume Up", after entering a black screen with many options, I selected wipe cache. It has worked without a flaw since then. There's lots of bugs with this phone. I recently had a problem where the USB port will detect a device and "plugged and unplugged" it, making my phone unable to dim. Thankfully I was helpful.
Hi Guys,
The home screen colour temperature on my Oppo Find X2 changes to yellow (warmer tone) automatically in the evening everyday. Both Nature tone display and eye comfort settings are switched off completely (no schedule has been set as well). The weird part is that the lockscreen's colour temperature is absolutely fine, its when I go to the homescreen I see this issue all through the night. It goes back to normal in the morning. I've tried factory resetting couple of times but it didn't work. My phone is on Coloros 7.1 with June security patch.
My phone screen color changes while using the chrome very ofen. And even while i am typing this in chrome.
And scrolling on oppo website also changes color from warm to cold.
Anyone has answers

You're joking right?
Blue light filter for night viewing.
Try looking under display settings.
For those who have problem with yellow screen in Chrome, try disabling #dynamic-color-gamut in Chrome... chrome://flags and search #dynamic-color-gamut
