Bluetooth volume on external speakers too low - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

I have the Samsung Galaxy S20+ and the Bluetooth volume is so low when connected to my external speakers (soundbar & Amazon Echo) that it's useless. I've Googled the problem and tried every suggestion (Disable Absolute Volume in Developer Options, calibrating volume on external device to phone, etc.) but nothing has worked. One suggestion was to turn off the equalizer on the phone, but I only have the option to change the default sound effect, not disable it). For comparative purposes, I have successfully set up Castbox so that I can select a specific podcast on my phone and play it on my Echo without Bluetooth as it's directly connected to my Alexa account. Choose the exact same podcast on my phone or through Pandora and play it on my Echo via Bluetooth, and it's at least half the volume, if not less. Turning up the volume on both devices is a non-starter as it increases background noise and is annoying, not to mention that it's not even the same quality. Does anyone have a working solution? Thanks.

I found the same issue with my S20+, it was the Samsung music app, any other app I use works just fine. Give it a try, I like Jet audio.

Thanks, but it turns out that it's not any particular app. I tried Jet Audio but just like ever other app, Bluetooth audio just plain sucks. Even my desktop and tablet had disgracefully terrible audio on my Echo. I've come to the conclusion that Bluetooth just isn't capable of decent audio transmission.

[Q] Bluetooth works with calls but not media audio

I have looked through 16 pages and have not found a solution.
My day old verizon G3 works with phone calls, but thats it. Audio wont play with videos or music when paired with bluetooth headphones
I have tried google play music and power amp.
I have rebooted the phone several times.
switched from dalvik and ART.
I have paired and Unpaired.
Tried every setting I can think of.
The Bluetooth headphones are Motorola S11 HD
They work fine on my computer, tablet, G2, note 3
any suggestions are greatly appreciated

I use mine everyday to stream music via bluetooth. Are you sure the media option under the bluetooth connection is enabled? What are you connecting to?

I too own a Verizon LG G3 that I purchased recently. I also have a pair of LG Tone Ultras that I am having trouble with. I mainly use them for music and the occasional call. I've found that when I turned off phone audio under Settings > Bluetooth, I'm able to listen to music, which is nice, but the control buttons on the Bluetooth headset don't work, which is a mediocre workaround. Since I've tried a hard reset with no luck, I'll be contacting lg because at the very least, their own peripheral should work with their phone.

I come from the philippines and i have the g3 also. my bluetooth connection was fine it connected to my car and headset but now it only receives calls but does not play music through my bluetooth headphones. when i press the play button on my headset it plays on the device itself. checked under bluetooth setting and call and media and audio was checked.
my device is rooted. i did a factory reset but the problem remains unfixed. please help.

Didn't have any issues until a couple days ago, then the phone stopped playing music through bluetooth. Phone is set to allow media through blutooth for my car connection, my cat says the phone is connected as a phone and as an audio device. I dunno what went wrong. Occasionally I am able to get it to work again by resetting, but it stops working again after a while.
I've noticed this same behavior.
I found that if I go into the Bluetooth settings I can uncheck the "media" option for the device, then check it again, and it will work until the next time I connect. Not a graceful solution by any means, but it keeps me listening until something more useful comes up.

Simple Solution for Me, LG G3 Audio Streaming
Well I had this problem. I could make calls and they worked fine, voice and sound.
I could not get streaming media to play but I could see that the songs were registering on my car display.
I tried everything, the settings on the phone, re-pairing. etc. Nothing worked.
I just found out that it was a more simple problem. Somehow the bluetooth volume got turned down and all I did was turn it up while testing the problem on another car stereo. Maybe it'll work for you, just turn up the volume while attempting to stream music to your stereo on your LG G3. There are various volume settings on the phone for different things. I have no idea how the volume could have been turned down, that low. It takes holding it a few seconds of holding for the volume to go back up. I have not adjusted the volume on the phone in some time....so maybe it is bug, dunno. Maybe its just an easy accidental thing, turning down the volume. I never adjust the volume on the phone with the back buttons, too hard to get to. That is how I turned up the volume in this case, back button on the LG G3
This is not the solution I read about where you can call someone, turn up the volume then the media stream works. I guess these could be related but not what I did.

Does it properly recognise the bluetooth device as headphones/speakers?
Also I see a lot of you talk about car bluetooth. There are a lot of cars that don't actually support streaming media over Bluetooth (just voice calls since they are much lower quality).
There was a thread on the main XDA page a few says ago.

When I initially get into the vehicle the car does recognize the device with headphones/mic symbol however if I go into my bluetooth settings and look at the profiles that are connected, only the "Call audio" profile is available. If I unpair the device and restart my phone, then re-pair the device it will eventually connect and using "call audio" and "media audio" profiles. I believe this is a Marshmellow issue as it's happening in both of my cars.

Hello,
If you car actually has A2DP (the Bluetooth media standard for streaming media over bluetooth) which is supported by having the option enabled when reconnecting then it's a bug either in the car protocols or the phone software.
I can't help further unfortunately but recommend you to use the current workaround you've found and submit a proper bug report.
I think the rebooting of phone is an unnecessary step, try just unpairing the device or even better, just resetting the connection to see if it will work and save some time.
You can also try updating to 7.1.1, to see if the issue is resolved there.
Personally I've never experienced issues on neither 5.0, 6.0 or 7.0 with my bluetooth headphones. In dact I was always pleasently surprises by how well the pairing worked.

Yeah, you are looking for a custom AOSP rom for 7.0 since LG isn't planning to release the update.
It's absolutely lovely for a daily driver, works great and is quite good stability wise. Sometimes a new weekly (LineageOS) will have an unexpected bug, but that's why you just keep the previous version or a backup to keep everything running smoothly.
Going back to stock would be a pain for me at this point, both function and performance wise. I don't think you'll be missing anything from the stock rom, and most importantly, double tap to wake works.
problem seems to be syncing to multiple devices
Ran into this problem this morning.. I have an LG HBS900 headset paired to my LG G3 and my PC.. It looks like the PC's bluetooth set it up as a media device and the phone would only connect it for voice calls, no options for media showed up in the bluetooth settings on the phone..
To fix the problem:
I paired the headset to my PC and and then unpaired it and shut off bluetooth on my PC.
I also unpaired the headset from my phone, cleared the caches and rebooted.
After reboot I paired the headset to the phone and media options were available again..

Just had this happen to me now ... Couple of restarts, syncing my headphones to a computer and back to my phone fixed it for some reason.

The buttons themselves are connected and working because when I press and hold any of the media buttons, I'll hear a quick double-beep. The buttons that do not work are the "play/pause" toggle, the "play next" and "play previous" buttons. The buttons that do work are the "volume up/down", the "answer/hangup" buttons.
I've tried some of the previously mentioned suggestions, like disable then re-enable controls and pretty much have done that will all the media controls in settings and within the applications.
The LG HBS730 worked perfectly for over a year with my previous phone, the Samsung G5 Active and works perfectly with my 2 Android tablets. The headset works fine.
The LG V20 bluetooth media controls also fail in the identical ways when the phone is connected to my Toyota Highlander's Bluetooth. The phone answers and hangs up properly, but the music will not pause or play until I hit the button on the phone. The controls do not function from the Highlanders audio controls on my console. This is also true with my Honda Link Bluetooth. Same exact symptoms. I have to use the phone to control the audio.
I have logging enabled on my phone if anyone knows how to get the logs off this LG, I would be happy to donate them to the cause of getting this fixed.

Sorry logs don't help me since I'm not a developer. I don't experience any issues on my d855 running LineageOS 7.1.1 and AKG Y45BT headset.
Pairing, controls, music playback all work perfectly fine.
I suggest you try contacting LG if the headset's controls are working on other devices.

Can you turn the speaker completely off when using Bluetooth?

There's one thing I miss about the Windows smartphone I used before the Galaxy S9 ... when I used my Bluetooth hearing aids off of it, the built-in speaker would always turn off. This meant that in a movie theater, I didn't have to touch anything -- only I could hear any sound coming from the phone.
But with Galaxy, the sound comes out of Bluetooth AND the speaker when the phone rings (it still turns off for video files). I've looked high and low in the system and phone settings for a solution and also activated the developer tools to no avail. Isn't there a way to accomplish this ultra-simple goal?
There is an app from Samsung in the Galaxy app store called soundassistant. The description says something like that for the headphones. Maybe it works with Bluetooth.

Thanks ... that did the trick. There are options under "scenarios" to plays sounds through the headphones after switching to vibrate mode and to switch to vibrate mode when headphones are connected. It recognizes Bluetooth as headphones, so it only vibrates on a phone call when I'm connected. I'd prefer no sound at all, but I can live with this.

Android Auto

Hi all, having issues with Android Auto - connected via USB. It's been hit and miss re playing music - sometimes plays at normal volume and can be controlled using my car stereo volume controls, sometimes it connects and plays at a low volume that can't be adjusted on either the phone itself or the car controls. Have researched this a lot and none of the suggested fixes have worked. Anyone experiencing similar or got any fixes from experience? TIA

I'm on global (I think, in the UK) and I don't even have Android auto as an app. It's installed but I believe it's an issue with dual apps on MIUI. How did you get it to show?
Yes, it's inbuilt now and not a separate app any longer... when you connect it to android auto you can press the circle bottom right of car screen to open the interface on your phone and adjust settings that way, or download the separate phone companion. Either way, adjusting things didn't fix the issue.

A little bit annoying as in one of my cars as its older I don't have Android Auto so used to use the app alone and hang it from a holder
I guess if you download the phone screen companion you could still do that.

Question Sound comes out of speakers even when earbuds are connected

When my bluetooth earphones are connected, every phone sound (calls, ringtones, etc.) comes out of the speakers, too - as in, I hear the sound in my earphones, and it's coming out of the phone's speakers at the same time. The only time it doesn't happen is when I'm listening to Spotify. My partner has a Pixel 6 and has the same issue.
I've cheked bluetooth settings and everything that should be checked is checked. It's really frustrating and I can't figure out if it's by design or if I need new earphones (even though I don't have this issue with these earphones and any of my other devices) or WTF else is going on
Any ideas?
My Galaxy buds pair with no problem and appear to be playing but there is no sound. They work great with other devices and have worked on e before with my Pixel 6 Pro. Very frustrating. Rebooted, forgot and reconnected, and even reset the earbuds. Still nothing.

Did you find a solution yet?
That's an odd problem, and not a common one for sure.
What kind of bluetooth earphones are you using?
Did you reboot your device?
Did you try out a safemode to see if a third-party app causes your problem?
-> Especially since your partners phone also has this problem, maybe you use the same third-party app causing this?
You could also try to reset/clear cache/storage the basic Google processes running to see if they have a hang up.

Nope, no solution. I've done everything you mentioned and nothing has worked. I've also tried different bluetooth earbuds, just in case, and no joy. I know some manufacturers choose for "phone" sounds to play toghether with connected buds, but I take it from your reply that it's not the case with the Pixel 6 Pro so I'm just baffled by this.
For now my way around this issue is to put the phone on silent or vibrate while connecte to bluetooth, but it's clearly not a solution.

Question Low Bluetooth volume on true wireless earbuds Xiaomi 11T

First, I apologize I'm posting in this forum regarding Xiaomi 11T, but there are no similar cases in it's forum.
So I recently bought Xiaomi 11T, about a month ago, and the volume on my true wireless earbuds is extremely low compared to my older phone (Xiaomi Mi A1), which was running on Android 9. Same is the case when I use earbuds with laptop (and the laptop has a much older Bluetooth version 4.2, I guess). So I looked it up and did find a possible solution but the phone had to be factory reset to solve through that solution, which I don't want to do because it's frustrating doing it all again. *I tried solving (linked below) this by following the steps except the resetting one, but it did not solve this issue. *I have already tried changing the region. I'm in Pakistan, so I changed it to US, India and also restarted and re-paired the earbuds, but it still didn't solve.
So is there any way that I can solve the low volume issue without resetting the phone?
DO NOTE that "Disable absolute volume" option in developer options is TURNED OFF.

So please let me know if any of you know any solutions to this issue.
I'm not an expert, but I remember some things of time ago:
1. EU rom has some limitations for earphones volume due to European regulations, so you would need to change the region or even the rom if this is your case.
2. Disable "absolute volume" in your paired Bluetooth device (your TWS), I know you have disabled it in developer options, but look for that same option in the paired device section.
3. Enable MI Sound Enhancer and try with the different options. It always helps me to improve the audio.
Please share your results, if this doesn't work, I will look for my earbuds and try to remember what I did to fix that.
Add: Also, if your earbuds have integrated volume control buttons, check if the volume control is "synchronized" with the phone, first time I use my earbuds in my Poco F3, the volume of the earbuds and the phone was independent.
Add 2: I take a look at my earphones, if you disabled absolute volume, you need to turn up the volume directly from your earphones. I have enabled absolute volume because of that.

To synchronize the volume of both devices, just enable absolute volume again, we already know that's not the problem, so do it.
MI 11T has atmos right? Change sound preset to video and try with the next set up in atmos settings.
Also, you can try disabling "sound enhancement" from game booster options.
If you have enabled absolute volume again, changed the preset to video, tried the setup in atmos settings, disabled the sound enhancement from game turbo, and the issue is not fixed, I can't help you, but I will be pretty sure that the problem will be the earbuds.
Edit: You could play with the sound codecs of developer settings as last resource.

I enabled "Disable Absolute volume" as you said, and set the preset to Video as well. And this is as close as I could get with the equalizer settings (they're horrible to set). And there is a positive difference than before. But it still isn't as loud as before or with other devices.
And I couldn't find any "sound enhancements" in Game Turbo.
There is no option of Media Volume sync, as it is in Samsung. I tried looking it up and it said that it is now built-in Android 10 onwards? I don't know.
But I tried the earbuds with laptop, and they're so much better, just like before. And I change the Bluetooth codec to AAC, but it automatically reverts back to SBC. I don't know anything about audio or codecs. So any guesses

MI 11T has atmos right? Change sound preset to video and try with the next set up in atmos settings.
Also, you can try disabling "sound enhancement" from game booster options.
If you have enabled absolute volume again, changed the preset to video, tried the setup in atmos settings, disabled the sound enhancement from game turbo, and the issue is not fixed, I can't help you, but I will be pretty sure that the problem will be the earbuds.
Edit: You could play with the sound codecs of developer settings as last resource.

I think this option (Adjust sound to earphones) might help, since it looks like media sync option. But I don't know why Mi Sound is grayed out.

There is no option of Media Volume sync, as it is in Samsung. I tried looking it up and it said that it is now built-in Android 10 onwards? I don't know.

First, please resize the images you attached in the comments, are huge.
The "enhanced audio" option is in "Performance mode".
Now I remember MI Sound Option is only available for wire earphones.
Even if disabling Enhanced Audio from Gameturbo don't fix the issue , keep it disabled. If it is enabled, when you start some game or app that use game turbo, the sound turns to sht.
The absolute volume feature must be enabled to sync the volume of both devices.
Honestly, I have no idea what else could you try; well, yes, some equalizers have the option to artificially increase the volume, maybe that could solve the problem in some way.
In my experience, the loudness enhancer of Equalizer FX works very well.
If FX doesn't work, try the app "Boom" by GlobalDelight, It has a free trial, imo is the best app for music (super recommended for windows too), and when I use it, my head explodes if I turn up full volume.

Sorry for the huge images. I new to posting threads, so I don't have much experience or etiquettes of threads.
I have turned off Enhanced audio and turned on "Disable Absolute volume", and still audio is not synced. And just increasing the volume isn't my goal. Rather I want it to work properly, as intended.
Anyways, do you think that the solution that I have linked in the original post, would work?

Disable Absolute Volume has to be turned off, not on, I mean, you need to have absolute volume enabled.
Try with FX loudness enhancement, could work.
Idk if the post solution will work, but I think you need to try.
