Hey xda-dev.
I recently rooted my phone and did a carrier unlock through the dial code method.
I'm currently in the US travelling, and even though I paid for a unlimited text/call US and Canada, I get a "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY" and now, there's just a circle with a line through it at the top where the signal bars should be.
I will be in the US for another 4 days or so, and I need a way to get my phone to start working because I need to get ahold of friends and people at home while I'm travelling.
Is there any way to reset to default on the service menu? What is wrong with this even? I have no idea how to troubleshoot this whatsoever.
There is nothing wrong with your phone. Who is your carrier? It's probably the fact your carrier does not have any roaming agreement in place where you are.

You'd have to allow roaming. You can call Rogers about it, one thing though, unlimited text/call US & Canada can mean from your city. Once in the US, you're not on Rogers towers anymore, therefor, you get roaming fees.

It's not your service, It's your phone. I noticed this the other day when I went to the states too, but I forgot to make sure that I automatically roamed to the right network.
Try this.... Go to Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators | Searching | -> Automatic
As soon as you go into the Network Ops it will start to search to see what's available around you. Make sure after you've searched its set to Automatic. That way when you are out and about, It will go to whatever network the sim card is in your phone it will choose that one first, but if it can't find that one it will go to the next best thing.
I did the same thing myself when I moved to Vegas for 2 months... I unlocked my sim and put in a T-Mobile card in...
If that doesn't solve the problem, then your phone wasn't unlocked fully. Reason why I say this is I work for Rogers/Fido and have seen this issue a few times other than doing it personally myself.
Sorry wrong thread

Hello,
I have searched throughly for my questions but didn't find anything unfortunately...
Will the tab 3 SM-T217S be able to make calls? I am talking regular calls not using apps that use data.
I live in a country where there is CDMA network provider and heard that there is no dialer on this tab which is important for me to programme the tab into my country's CDMA network provider.
I also came across a forum where it said the call functionality is there in the tab 3 but sprint has blocked it because the will only give you a plan with data not voice, so does that mean that if the SM-T217S gets programmed to another CDMA provider the call functionality can work normally??
I appreciate any help guys and thanks in advance!

Hey, i was about to purchase this to flash to IUSACELL Mexico, but instead went with the ATT version with SIM card because i have a better data plan with GSM provider than CDMA provider.
But i did some research prior going with the gsm tablet, and it appears you can flash it with DFS cdma soft, and of course if the new plan has DATA/VOICE it should work like a phone and sms and all that, providing you download a dialer and use an external hands free headset (i dont think it has a speaker like the GT3 8").
You wont find much information, all has to be done with trial and error.

No way to use jio sim cuz to use jio your device must be lte supported and n910p lte only works with sprint sim card in usa.. The phone has allready lte bands but its locked if you use gsm sim. And i didnt see any guaranteed method that unlocks lte bands.so you have to stick with 3g & hspa+. Like me so i suggest your phone is fully unlocked now you sell it or swap with any international model.
Download and run this app and you will know your phone supports volte or not to make sure.

If you want to use a Sprint Galaxy Note 4 on GSM OUTSIDE the U.S., just call Sprint and they'll unlock it for you, as long as the ESN is clean, the phone is fully paid off, etc. When I switched from Sprint to Ting CDMA earlier this year, Ting called Sprint for me and had it unlocked for international GSM use. I've used it since in the UK on O2 with a prepaid SIM, with good data speeds but no LTE.
If you want to unlock it for GSM use INSIDE the U.S., that's a different story. Check for other threads here on XDA.

Need some help guys. I am based in Australia and swapped an iPhone for the Z Fold 3. Went through the usual connection process with my sim and esim whilst connected to wifi. All was well as it allowed calls and received calls when I was home. As soon as I stepped outside my home where it was trying to use the network, it does not work. It keeps saying not registered on network. Tried to manually select network via settings, checked all APN settings from the network and all is ok. Even tried 3 different carrier sims (Vodafone, Optus and Telstra) yet still no matter what this phone will never connect to any carrier network without wifi. From there I tried 3 different firmwares from Sam mobile just in case it had corrupt firmware. Both android 11 and 12 will not work. Need help guys please. Any suggestions?
Did you try calling the carrier or going online to their site and activate the phone? Not from Australia but I think it's worth a try.

Thank you can't leave your reply. May I ask what you mean? This is an unlock phone from what I've been made aware. Upon checking it on The Australian database to ensure it is clear, this appears to be unlocked to all networks. If you can be kind as to provide details on what you mean I am more than happy to follow your instructions and try. Thank you.

Hi there. When I first got my unlocked phone and put in my Verizon sim, it worked right away. However, when I logged on to the Verizon site, it was showing my old phone with the new IMEI and the phone could receive calls but not call out. I called Verizon and asked them to activate which fixed the issue. Can't you call the carrier and ask if they can help you figure out why you can't call when on the cell network?
That is the same error I get here in the States if I try to manually connect to any roaming network (network other than T-mobile, the carrier I use).

It works on T-mobile, but it refuses to connect to any other network, and if I try manually to switch, it gives that same error message you get. Roaming is included in my plan for calls, text, and data, so it is supposed to work, but these phones have issues. I currently have the temporary fix on my phone for the T-mobile issue, so it has stopped flipping to "Emergency Calls Only" and back, but the fix prevents it from seeing other networks now. Whether it is Samsung or T-mobile who has to fix it, it needs to be fixed!
