HDTV Ultimate app - update from 4.0 to 1.6 - Fire TV Themes and Apps

I installed version 4.0 of this IPTV android streaming app on my Fire TV cube in Dec. to watch some Eastern European news channels which I can't get by satellite Astra. It worked fine with MX player. After Christmas an obligatory update appeared to a version 1.6 (? following 4.0) which makes the app look totally different and does not have favorites option anymore etc. Not yet managed go get it work. Saw that Yalla receiver should be installed eventually. Anyone knows why they "updated" the fine working version 4.0?

New SlingPlayer app available, but only for newer select slingbox device's?

A new app for the fire TV has been released, SlingPlayer. This is great news for some of us who have previously used the side loaded tablet app, which required a mouse to make selections within the app.
My question is this; the new SlingPlayer app is only compatible with some of the latest SlingBoxes (M1 for example), would there be any workaround to make the app compatible with an older SlingBox like the HD?
Would really be great to not have to purchase a newer SlingBox as mine suits me well, but having the app designed for the fire TV and able to work with the native remote is a huge bonus.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

What are your favorite working apps?
Can you categorize the applist with fire tv remote and external mouse needed to control?
that will be very helpful.

I agree. That would be most helpful. I rather not have to use a mouse for most my apps and if someone already knows they could post so we don't all have to test..
Do you have links to Bollywood channel and Indian recipes apps?
..
I am not sure how I can go about downloading the apks you have listed to install these with adbfire on my unrooted firestick ( Sky Sports for Android) but they do look like a good list
I suggest the global use of an extra abbreviation for FireTV Stick to end the confusion.
Also, make a seperate list since some apps don't work on the stick. (I heard retroarch had more issues)
Abbreviation: AFTV-Stick
Its better than confusion.
Also,YouTube is a PITA now because of the broken services 7.3.29 issue.
The 4.4.11 (v5b) YouTube MOD works without even needing root access since it also doesn't need Google Play Services.

Google Play Sevices is not broken, 7.3.29 is not built to work on the Fire TV. 7.0.99 is actualy the same version as 7.3.29 with a different version number and is meant to work with the Fire TV hardware. 7.3.29 is the latest version that works on certain hardware and 7.0.99 is also the latest version for other devicess. Not all devices use the same verion of an app. Thats why if you go to the actuall playstore every app will say "latest version - varies from devicess", cause depending on your hardware the version number will be different. Also, I am using the lastest version of Youtube with 7.0.99 and it works great. The only problem is that when ram gets too low videos won't play, but the solution is to either force close Youtube or run fast reboot. After that videos will start playing again, at least that is what works for me. I have Dock4droid installed with a fast reboot shortcut so when Youtube acts up I just close it, do a fast reboot and all is well.

[Q] Sky Sports For Android Apk, streaming working on AFTV?

apologies if this has been posted before, but im new to the AFTV scene and aint posted on here in years!
I have this app for my android tabelt and the latest version now allows Virgin customers (which im one) to log in with their virgin ID rather than Sky and watch the channels live. This works fine on android.
Ive got (what i think is) the apk of this (got it using that apk scraper that pulls apks from the google play store) and sideloaded onto my aftv.
Now, with a mouse it works fine, but what i cant find is the option to log on with your virgin account, like comes up on the tablet? The only section about live tv brings up a link to the sky go app (which the old versions of this app did).
Do i have an old version of the app / apk? And if so does anyone have a link to the latest? I did put the url to the latest version in the scraper though
Anyone had any joy?
It seems like (if i do have the latest apk) that the option that appears on the tablet version isnt on when its on fire tv, but not sure how thats possible!!?
cheers

Don't know if you've got this fixed out, but my sky sports for android tablet version on the Fire TV has the ability to sign in using Virgin media. Wonder if you just don't have the correct sky sports apk version installed. You're looking for Sky sports for android 3.0 (427) dated Jan 15, 2015. I downloaded mine from the aptoide store which I sideloaded to the fire tv.
Just F.Y.I If you sideload the apotide apk app to the Fire Tv and do a search, the old version will pop up. Turns out if you install a browser on the Fire TV, like Maxthon, you can search other stores which will allow you to find the latest version. I've found out that there are too many websites offering the latest version of apps and after sideloading them, it turns out to be nothing more than them putting one of their stores on to the fire. At least aptoide is clean and you can find the latest app you're looking for.

[APK request/troubleshooting] All 4 (UK app) on US Fire TV

Sorry for the newbie-level question - we just ran out of options and would love some help.
We have an Amazon Fire TV (built in - not the stick), latest software as of Nov 27, 2022.
We're trying update an app, All 4, going through Downloader (as UK apps are "unavailable" on the Appstore). The version we have stopped working (got an error - "out of date").
So we first tried latest APK file here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/channel-4-television-corporation/
But, unlike the old version we had, it is an Android mobile app (doesn't display well on TV) that requires Google Play services to run. It opens but nothing seems to work or look right.
Are we missing an APK file that should work on TV (i.e. is there an older APK file in the link above that should work/details we should be looking for when downloading these APK files to make sure they're compatible)?
Or if we go with the glitchy mobile app, any way to get Google Play services running in the background? (Unlikely, I imagine)
Or are there other workarounds we aren't thinking of? For example, we've tried de-registering our TV and using our UK Amazon account, though the UK apps like All 4 are still "unavailable" in the official Appstore.
Thanks a million for your help.
