Hide software buttons in status bar? - MTCD Android Head Units General

Hi guys,
I'm on stock Android 10 (rooted).
Can someone tell me which file I have to edit to hide the software buttons (home and back) in the status bar?
I have already tried SystemUi Tuner without success.
It must be possible, the function is there in the Hal9k and Malaysk roms ...

Is it an MTCD/E?

Yes, MTCE-LM, PX6

I added the following line to the build.prop in /system/ :
qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1
Unfortunately without success. That should actually disable these buttons. But it doesn't work. Is there anybody with other ideas?

A solution could be to activate immersive mode. That's the way I finally went... Although it seems that it is not that stable... (Status bar reappears some times, app depended)

I have no idea why you have this problem, so I can't help you fixing it properly. But if you want a "cosmetic" fix, you can set the custom carrier name for lock screen and notification panel using Xposed framework and XBlast Tools module. You have to be rooted to do that.

Android Oreo Can't disable navigation bar

Hey guys i've updated my device to android oreo but now i can't disable the navigation bar with the build.prop method which worked in the recent android versions.
If i add the "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" line to the build prop my device screen stays black and the phone reboots after some seconds.
Is there another way to fully disable the navigation bar? I want to use pie controls so the global immersive hack is no option for me..
Thanks in advance

You could use immersive mode and set your pie control to be active on the side of the screen rather than the bottom

You can try flashing this themer. You must have BusyBox installed first. I zeroed out the layout height and width of the navbar.

Hi, did you get these files? If not I can send them to you.
Could you please explain a little more the changes that you're making? Is it absolutely necessary to have busybox installed, or is it possible to make a modified systemui.apk that can be flashed/replaced to achieve the same thing?
Thanks!

These are modified systemui and frameworks being flashed. Busybox is enabling them to be installed. I have a Aroma installer on the 6P forum and it has the navigation bar disable mod in it.

Ah I see. Which files are being copied over? Would it be possible to make this into a magisk module since we can have system was busybox?
Thanks

I put the modded framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk for Nexus 6P in the magisk module, filled out config file, and zipped it up. I have no idea if it will work. I've had no luck doing full apk replacements in OREO.

Just tried it. Doesn't work - phone boots correctly but nav bar still there. One thing though is that Magisk no longer displays installed modules after installing your one, but I imagine that's not something you'd know why.
I'm new to themers - how do your mods work via aroma? They don't replace the full apks?

My mods only change in a apk what is necessary for the mod to work. I haven't messed with magisk since official O came out so I don't know if this will work either but this is based on the method I use in my aroma's if you want to try it.

The process requires adb commands thru PC if you are not rooted! Activate Immersive Display using any quick tiles app after granting necessary permissions thru adb..

If you are rooted, follow these steps :
1. Open build.prop
2. Set "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" to 1.
3. Reboot

I have been using System UI Tuner successfully to selectively enable immersive mode on some apps without root:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner&hl=en
Its not that hard using adb run adb shell then type (wm overscan 0,0,0,-122) for the perfect setting im running this with a x bar app for swiping the home key instead of keys no root needed
If you have EMUI 8.0 you can do it without root. Go to System - System Navigation - Navigation Bar - Click on navigation bar.
This will enable an extra button on the navigation bar to hide it.
