Can't get S9 Working.... frustration is now high. - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Hello. My wife talked me into getting an Unlocked S9. We were thinking that unlocked meant Visible Wireless would work on it. That was not the case. The phone came as model number SM-G960U. Apparently, Visible Wireless requires an SM-G960U1. I read that these are interchangeable, but in using ODIN, to change to an SM-G960U1, the phone no is in a boot loop... although I can get the phone to a download screen and to the 'firmware update screen'. The device will not stay powered off... it just jumps back into an error screen or the boot loop.
I don't know what to do with it anymore. Everything I have tried (probably 30+ hours so far) has failed.
I've been able to use ODIN 3.13.1 3B (Patched) most reliable.
I've downloaded various firmwares, but nothing seems to install.
The furthest I get is when it stops at the vendor.img.ext4.
The instructions I initially followed did not say anything about setting the checkbox in developer mode to 'Allow OEM Change' or something like that. Since I can't boot, I can't go back and set that options (unless there is another way to do so)... I tried doing so through ADB, but executing these commands:
reboot bootloader
fastboot flashing unlock
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
didn't work because 'reboot bootloader' brings me to the download screen where the fastboot commands don't work.
In the very least, I would like to get the phone up and running again (with the hope of being able to return it). SM-G960U1 would be fine.... or an alternative firmware.
I do not know how to proceed because I don't understand the issues I am having. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Thank you God! I changed back to the computer I abandoned at the start of this effort and used the same drivers, odin, and firmware.... and this time it loaded! Funny thing... it was a 2013 apple mini running bootcamp.

The U1 firmware will suffer issues when trying to be flashed on a "U" device, which is why patched Odin is usually required to flash the U1(unlocked) firmware on a U(locked) device. Patched Odin allows a U1 to be flashed on a U phone as it ignores the errors that pop up on when that process happens. If you have a true U1 device, then patched Odin wouldnt have been necessary as the bootloader already knew that the U1 FW was ok to be flashed, so I believe that if you didnt use patched Odin and was successful, then you have a true U1 device and the previous user just flashed a U FW on it. Glad you got it resolved, but i really believe that the change of pc had very little to do with your success

How can I unbrick my Z2 Force XT1789-06 Single SIM 64GB/6GBRAM (Vodafone UK)?

Hey guys,
I would have liked to get the OREO update, because it said every time is up-to-date, and I wasn't patient. because all of these already get it, and the battery life was terrible with, and I have just 30 days to cancel the phone if I'm unsatisfied with it, so it was urgent for me to update and try it.
But I didn't know enough from the newest devices, so that I need unlocked bootloader to flash STOCK ROM or ROOT or for flash RECOVERY
Mine is XT1789-06, I tried to flash first this ROM:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=962187416754456314
It didn't tell this is TMO. :/
This changed my baseband to TMO and my boot image to T-mobile, after I didn't have signal and the fingerprint sensor didn't work.
I wanted fix it with RETAIL ROM flashing.
I tried to flash this: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=241773
After that my phone didn't boot, says your device is corrupt.
Cause this I tried to flash back the previous version so this: NASH_RETAIL_7.1.1_NPXS26.122-68-4_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
from here https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto Z2 Force/Stock/
But no result. The baseband stucked on TMO, the phone is not start up. Fall back to fast boot mode.
After and mean while these things I tried many things.
The Motorola Device Manager isn't working at all.
The Software Upgrade Assistant what the phone want when show boot up failed message isn't working just say processing device information and isn't going further. I don't understand why the phone ask it, because that is for verizon phones.
The RSD lite says the model name is Fastboot nash S and isn't start to flash anything, when I press the start it says the phone failed to switch to fastboot mode, but it's in that.
I tried already flash more different ROMs, but didn't work one of them .
Recovery is unable, the phone isn't rooted, the bootloader is locked, however sometimes it showed ""Your device software cannot be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader", but I checked in the powershell and in fastboot mode I looked what phone says, so it's locked.
I was thinking maybe if I unlock it will solve the problem, but I can't turn it on, so the developer options are unavailable and I don't know maybe it won't help, if I can do it somehow.
Now if I want turn on the phone it's going to fastboot mode right away or say your device is corrupt... and after.
I can't try flash it through Qualcomm 9008 because the PC recognise the device for fastboot device.
In the device manager the computer shows Motorola ADB interface.
I try to unbrick for 3 days, please help me.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Same here, if you find anything out DM me
I already contacted with the phone, I will bring back to Repait it.
I couldn't find out nothing, I tried everything what was possible.
i think i found a solution i just dont know how it works exactly, something to do with a batch file and a full flash of the phone
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z2-force/how-to/how-to-return-to-stock-sprint-t3694783 im going to try this and let you know

Hard Brick S9 G960F

Hello
I Bought from Ebay an S9 , that wasn't working when i recieved it.
I managed to flash it with the originals Samsung firmwares but the phone keeps rebooting all time .
It does show the Samsung logo for 1sec just when the phone is connected to an wall plug.
Otherwhise the phone doesn't turn on.
I can access to the download mode but not to the recovery mode.
I tried to flash TWRP but it says frp lock on
Could someone help me
Best Regards
Dear AcapulcoNueve,
I don't know if this is sufficiently related to your problem, but perhaps you could "build up" your s9 step by step, using first of all Odin to re-flash your BootLoader.
I would start by flashing your BootLoader by downloading it on a site like this one: androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=287896 and using it in Odin (BL). You never know.. perhaps that would already do the trick?
It's also the procedure I've used to get my s9 going again after it was totally stuck in the bootloader after flashing an image (logo.jpg) which was too large. (Couldn't even get into recovery mode!)
So:
1. Download Odin latest version
2. Download the right BL file for your s9
3. Start Odin in administrator mode
4. Put your phone in "Download Mode" and connect it to your (WINDOWS) computer
5. Select the BootLoader file within Odin using the <BL> button
6. Start the flashing procedure (and if you want to get into your TWRP, immediately when your screen goes black press <Bixby> + <Volume Up> + <Power> buttons).
Hope this helps..
Which CSC did you flash? Make sure you're not flashing HOME_CSC which doesn't clear data. If you flashed HOME_CSC and it's boot looping,
I had this FRP LOCK ON issue on my galaxy s7 edge way back when i tried to flash a rom with oem unlock enabled (or maybe disabled) i forgot about that detail.
what i did was reflashed the same firmware it was running on before, that fixed it.
I also remember a few versions of Odin werent working and that included the latest version at that time,
I tried different versions and i remember the older version odin worked. Hope this helps!

Cannot flash stock firmware Odin

Messed up good this time.
I had just upgraded to Android 10 and after twice failing to install TWRP I thought, "Oh yeah I can patch AP with Magisk."
Sure enough there was a new thread just for that.
Only problem is now I can only flash BL, CP or CSC (home too). And only individually. AP will fail at system.img or Vendor.img
Any 2 or more will fail. Only get a pass (except AP of course) on their own
Bootloader is unlocked, OEM unlocked and model is SM-A705MN CHO
Latest firmware was fresh install (working just great before my antics) Android 10
Any help would be appreciated. It's been over 24 hours and I don't think I can do this without help. I've tried every Odin patched or not.
Heimdall? Please no more of that. Jodin? umm not so good.
Thanks
*Phone will go to normal download mode after any of the 3 available successful flashes if I immediately boot back into download mode after the pass. Otherwise I have the update error smart switch screen.
**I had also recently read somewhere that this may be a vaultkeeper issue. I can't find where I saw this! There was a post that had the exact same issue. I apologize for having a terribly slow laptop and patience... what's patience?
I tried again and it worked.
Maybe it was a low charge issue.

Can't flash TWRP through Odin SM-G960F

Hi!
I enabled OEM bootloader unlocking then attempted to flash TWRP 3.4.0-0 through download mode using Odin 3.14.1, but it isn't working, it says "success" on odin, and the device simply reboots (not tripping knox either). I have rooted my devices in the past, including some S8s etc. so it's not **that** new to me, but it's just bizarre and I'm stumped. I even installed Windows temporarily on my main machine to attempt this flash through odin, I've installed the official Samsung driver and ensured that OEM Unlocking still is checked - it is. I'm not sure where to go from here.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: something just hit me... I'll attempt to disable windows defender, maybe that's interfering with the flash...
I have had this issue as well. Restart into download(bootloader)mode *manually* so that there are lines of text/settings in the top left corner in the download mode. Load up TWRP into the AP section of Odin, and then quickly press the buttons to load into recovery, and while still holding them, press start. Keep holding them and it should reboot into twrp. If this doesn't work, keep trying it 2-3 more times until it does. If it still doesn't, please reply.

i doubt windows defender has anything to do with it, but things that can cause issues are the cable, the file youre flashing (download a fresh copy), incompatible TWRP file, the version of Odin can also cause issues. I have 4 laptops and itll sometimes work on one, and sometimes not. I usually just switch computers and try it again, but the problem isnt consistent. Eliminate variables and try it again

Unable to Flash TWRP or anything else

Hi there,
first of all, sorry for my bad english.
I want to remove the Stock ROM from my Tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 | SM-T830) and install something else (https://www.getdroidtips.com/android-12samsung-galaxy-tab-s4/).
For some Reason Samsung forced me to do a factory reset to unlock the bootloader (maybe I did it wrong, but now it happened, so it is how it is). Now the OEM Unlock Options says "Bootloader is already unlocked", but when I go into Download mode, I have multiple Problems:
1.: When I enter download mode by Booting into Recovery (adb reboot recovery) and choose "reboot to bootloader", OR by entering it directly using "adb reboot bootloader", I dont get the Warning Screen so I get into download mode directly.
2.: When entering Dowload mode as descibed in problem 1, I also dont get the informations at the Top left, I only see the Download Icon on a blue background but when restarting the tablet and holding Volume Up and Volume Down simuntainuasly, it will show the warning (in the correct cyan colors) and in the next step it shows me those status informations at the top left.
3.: However, regardless to how I get into download mode, the colors of the download mode screen will change to a blue filter version after one second. but I did never activate any blue filter on the device, and on any other device, the colors are displayed correctly.
4.: Any instalation with Odin3 failed on the device, regardless to how i got into download mode
In any online article I read, noone has any problems with installing something when in download mode.
Also, the KG-Status is displayed as "checking, I dont know if this is good or not.
What am I doing wrong, why can't I install anything on the device?
what is wrong with download mode? post a picture.
drivers installed correctly? check in windows device manager.
what does not work with Odin? what error message?
First of all, thank you for your reply!
1.: The Picture shows that the is something wrong with the Download mode of the Tab S4, because the Colors are not being displayed correctly (as you can see, the colors of the other devices are much more cyan), and I would not have mentioned that if the device would just be unable to show colors correctly, but in the Warning before the Download mode, the Colors are displayed as they are on the other devices, so the eventually the device wants to tell me something, but I dont know what.
2.: Well, I am pretty sure that the drivers are installed Correctly, because Flashing a Galaxy Tab S2, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S5 worked perfectly with the same driver.
3.: I'l attach a Screenshot of Odin.
ALso, what does "KG STatus: Checking" mean? Is it the reason for the problem, or is it good? On the Web I could only find "Kg Status: Locked" and "KG Status: Unlocked". should I unlock it? If yes, how?
you say any installation with Odin3 failed. you are trying to flash TWRP.
try to flash something different.
https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#instructions
not sure about the display, though.
Well, I have a porblem with the Program that is mentioned in the Guide you linked, Frija asks for a CSC, and I dont know what I have to enter there, I only know that the device is a SM-T830/gts4lwifi.
CSC is region code
Rooting, ODIN, Firmware, CSC Information And Myths Debunked / Noob's Guide To Samsung Devices
Since a lot of people will have their Galaxy S22 Ultra soon and I myself am thinking about either getting an S21 Ultra or S22 Ultra, I wanted to summarise a lot of information I found out during researching as Samsung devices are quite different...
forum.xda-developers.com
Okay, maybe I am an Idiot or so, but it does not work, Frija does not find any Firmware for the SM-T830, flashing a custom build of TWRP also does not work, folowing other Guides to install Magisk doesn't work, and using Odin to Flash a System Imagge (in the Guide I saw this was how they did it) also does not work.
Also "adb sideload" does not work using the Stock Recovery, so I really need TWRP to do so.
When searching for the KG Status, I found out that Samsung devices are checking themselves for a Week or so before accepting any Unofficial images, since I factory reseted the Tablet two days ago, the device may check itself. So should I eventually wait a Week before trying it again?
I dont know what I could do, so that seems logical for me, do you think that might solve the Problem?
Well, if RMM/KG state is prenormal you would see message "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed"
Anyway, try to flash official ROM and wait for KG state while device is connected to internet.
you can download according to your region from https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-T830

Setting the 7 days back works
