I'm kinda desperate at this point and don't know where else to ask. So I'm trying to play pubg in the lowest graphics settings possible with extreme fps. In my previous note 9 never had a problem, but now the framerate drops a few seconds into the game. I've not been able to fix this, even did a factory reset. Funnily enough, I went to developer options and enabled gpu watch to see what's going on, but the game ran smoothly. Then as soon as I disabled gpu watch, the game went back to ****ty framerate. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

The only way to play pubg with smooth/extreme frame rate is by using the gpu watch. Just leave it on. It'll turn off when phone is reset. Its the only way. I don't know why samsung did this, tons of ppl must think its a horrible phone. I bet tons of ppl have no idea about gpu watch

Hello,
I am the owner of SGN since september.
I am really disappointed, because there seems to be a problem with 3D graphics performance: and to be precise with its FPS consistence. In some 3D excessive games (GTA in particular, but also Trials Xtreme 3, NFS:MW and other AAA titles) there seems to be a problem: there is a certain interval of time when a game works perfectly, and then for a few seconds it slows down WITHOUT A REASON and then plays good again. This seems to be particulary a problem in GTA games where the game slows down to a mere 4 FPS, and then continues to run flawlessly for 20-30 seconds, then slows down again for a few, and so on.
PLEASE help me xda, you are my only hope. Noone seems to have a clue on what can potentially cause this weird problem.
do you have force gpu rendering turned on? anything running in the background? what about facebook syncing?

First of all, thanks for Your response.
Yes, I did triet turning the force GPU thingy on. Doesn't seem to help.
I think background apps are not an issue since I tested my phone after formatting it and it was clean.
Facebook syncing? What do you mean?
If you use the Facebook app, it might constantly trying to sync. You said you had the same problem on a clean install though so I'm thinking that's not the problem
I bet that the cpu is at 70 C, and the Thermal Throttle enter in function.
I had the same problem with dead trigger (i found that it automaically set up the Tegra effect)

Thanks for the answer!
Yes, the phone do gets quite hot after a while actually!
So is this behaviour normal? And how should I fix this, if it is at all doable?

When the cpu reaches the thermal throttal temperature (about 70°C) it slows the cpu down so that it cools down. When it reaches the 70°C mark again the procedure repeats. So if you would turn thermal throttle off it shouldnt happen again I THINK. But I dont recommend doing that. Stay safe, keep your baby safe (gnex )

Well, I cant find these "power saving" options mentioned in a thread above. Can anyone help me to find them? Are they even present in SGN?
And how can I disable thermal throttling, just for the test?
And thanks for all the help so far!
I often watch a movie or TV serie on my phone before sleeping, but I have noticed that the video payback is not always smooth and there are slight stutters as if the G3 doesn't have enough power to play back full HD high bitrate, particularly in Matroska formats. So whats up with this? I know the G3 is plenty powerful to be able to play without stutter, so could it be some kind of power saving feature holding the cpu performance back and causing stuttering? This is ridiculous to be happening with a flag ship phone! Any ideas on how to fix this?
I assume these are on your phone and not on your network or the web or something. Have you seen this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796449
You could try turning off the throttling (at your own risk).

I will try that and report back, the only strange thing is that my phone does not get warm at all when watching video, so I don't think its a problem with temperature, I usually watch at very low brightness.
I tried turning off the throttling features and it made no difference. I think maybe the stock video player is just not optimized well, so I am going to try VLC and see how that goes.
I'm not sure if this will be of any help, I hope VLC works for you. I use BS Player on my 2012 nexus 7 to play my 1080p bluray rips(at whatever bitrate the pirate scene rips at). I would suggest trying that one and to play with the hardware decoding options if things don't seem smooth with it.

You could try that. May work. The other option would be to turn off the power saving feature LG put in that limits the cpu. It likely turns down for easier frames and then has trouble with frames with more detail, since compressed video is variable like that. I'm not sure if anyone has completely disabled this though, and it may have a huge impact on battery life.
I have the LG G4 H811 (T-Mobile). Does anyone on here play Game Dev Story and notice that about 3-5 seconds into the game it starts to lag, about 1/2 the speed? I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this issue before I wiped my phone. I noticed other games by this developer work just fine, and so far this is the only app that I have seen slow itself down.
I've tried clearing app cache, app data, reinstalling the app without success. If I switch out of the app and back into it, it will run normal again for about 5 seconds then slow back down.
Looking forward to custom ROMs for this. LG's software is slowing this phone down [again].
It might be because of bugged govenor, same with Tekken 6 on ppsspp, same story was on G3.
The only fix is change govenor to Conservative instead of interactive, but that require future root.
Game Dev Story has lagged on every phone I've ever owned.
Just for the hell of it, have you unchecked the battery saver gaming option?

Yeah, turned that off. It didn't make a difference to the game play. Also made sure that the settings in app were set to "Performance". Might have to ride it out until root is available for the H811 and some custom ROMs. Was hoping someone else could verify that it does the same thing. I confirmed that it runs slow on both the Lite (free) version and the Full version. Even at the start screen, you can notice the monkey swinging off the game name will start swinging slowly.
This doesn't help in any way, but I wanted to say that I have the same problem. Anyone found an actual solution?
I've got a few different games by Kairosoft and they all run terribly on the G4.
Hello guys.
I had some issues with my Galaxy A70. It's lagging like hell while playing garena free fire, my device can handle the game without any issue but I Don't know why this happens.
The problem is when I play the game first 2-3 minutes game works fine but after 2-3 minutes game starts lagging phone slows down and touch sensitivity feels really heavy even game controls seems heavy I can't get fine movement because of this issue. And when I close the game phone seems so much slower it takes 10 seconds to open an app.
And while playing a game when I open the game control menu and close it, game works fine for 1-2 minutes and again it starts lagging. I hope someone here can help me with this issue. Any advice would be much appreciated
My device is not rooted and I'm on android 11 latest version.
Sorry for bad English
It called "thermal throttling".
Most smartphone will thermal throttle when the processor got too hot. Try lower your game setting. This can reduce the heat on the processor, and thus reduce the lag.

I accept your solution. but I'm already playing on lower settings the game lagging also on lower settings. I've tried factory data reset and after that lag disappeared for 2 or 3 days and again after 3 days lag came back I only downloaded the game (downloaded game after factory reset)
I think it's not" thermal throttling " maybe some systems apps causing the issue? Cuz every system has high usage
I've noticed every system apps running at 100%high frequency everytime, I think that might be the issue how can I fix this issue?

Disable you game launcher because when your phone heats up ,it drop your screen frame rate(fps) and also decrease your volume that cause so much of lagging issue.
My suggestion was to use a custom rom to get best gaming experience
It could be anything but if it is related to hardware section u can do nothing. So first of all u need to tell us about the CPU. If it's low-end or entry level CPU u can't play anything on it.
If it's mid-range, I can help u.
I have a phone running on mediatek helio g85 powered by android 12
I face the same issue as you do because I did an update of my os. So don't update your os.
And you need to charge 100% everytime you play. You need to restart the phone or clear the cache of your game before you play. Don't use your mobile data because it will heat up your phone quickly and don't run apps in background like Avast, Facebook Messenger etc. Try to remove your back cover and hold the phone like near a fan and turn off your volume u will notice a big difference and take a break after 30 minutes to cool down and power off the phone and don't use your phone at night power it off.
Also lower your brightness I mean u can play at night time it will not heat up your phone
I used Skyline to try out Switch emulation performance. In the otions i switched on "force max GPU Frequency", so the GPU always runs on full power. I was able to play Burnout Paradise in 1080p @ solit 60FPS. However, after about 15min the Phone gets hot like hell and starts throtteling the SoC. The Notificationbar shows a "G"-Icon witch says, High-End-Mode enabled, this will drain the battery faster and generates more Heat.
The thing is, i unchecket that option in Skyline but Android still goes High-End-Mode everytime i start up Skyline, no matter what I do. In the Nubia Gamelouncher I set CPU and GPU to ballanced but it didnt change. I uninstalled Skyline and reinstalled it, but still Android goes in High-End-Mode when I start the App. I know that there is a 4. Performance Setting on this Phone but its hidden like Dev Mode. I searched the whole Web but not even Google found something useful.
So, is there anyone here who knows how to get to this hidden performance setting?
This information would be verry useful, thx!

Try *#62742654# in the phone app, where you can make a call. This give you a possibility to enable and disable the ludicrous mode. In my opinion the phone should not throttle the performance with maximum cpu and gpu Performance enabled.
Damn, the code didn't work but seriously appreciate it, since I like to save battery in some or other way
