I want to insert a custom ROM in HTC Desire 820 dual sim. I have unlocked the bootloader and tried to insert a TWRP recovery. I have tried multiple recoveries namely:
HTC_A51_TWRP_Recovery_3.0.2-0_htcui
HTC_D820_TWRP-Recovery-2.8.7.0-en
HTC_TWRP_Recovery_All
recovery.iso
twrp-3.0.2-0-a32e
twrp-3.1.1-0-a5
twrp-3.2.2-0-a51cml_tuhl
While trying to flash these Unfortunately I Corrupted the OS. The first four of the above TWRP either won't get flashed due to
Code:
target reported max download size of 16777216 bytes

OKAY [ 1.673s]

The other 2 flashed but when Executed the command fasboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-a32e.img or the one with a5 the error is
Code:

the last didn't give any error but doesn't work either( possibly because its a Desire 830 .img but its the only one not giving the error
the phone is (or was) android 6.0.1

It doesn't have an OEM unlock and I'm pretty much new to recovery and root stuff. Please suggest me how can I root this device too, so I don't fall into further problems. Also my ADB doesn't detect the driver but fastboot does. Please not that all the above mentioned recoveries are for official Htc desire 820 (except the last one) some have been picked up from this site, some by youtube or other forums. Thanks in advance

I'm currently stuck with Guru Reset M7 2.24.401.8 and I can't flash CWM with it so I tried using terminal but this is what happens:
PHP:

Here is some information of my phone:

Any help will be very appreciated!!!
I use a Macbook pro btw
Wrong section. This is for the HTC desire. Post here instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/help
I downloaded the stock recovery for 5.0.1 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51836232&postcount=1
When I go into fastboot and try to flash I get an error:
$ fastboot flash recovery Tmo-M8-4.20.531.4-recovery.img
target reported max download size of 1826152448 bytes
sending 'recovery' (16046 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.753s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: image error! (BootMagic check fail))
This is with bootloader unlocked, if I try with bootloader locked I get:
$ fastboot flash recovery Tmo-M8-4.20.531.4-recovery.img
target reported max download size of 1826152448 bytes
sending 'recovery' (16046 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.757s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 1.763s
I notice theres a 1mb difference between twrp-2.8.7.0-m8.img (17.4mb) and Tmo-M8-4.20.531.4-recovery.img (16.4mb)
How am I supposed to get the stock recovery back without erasing anything else?
Device is S-OFF
Wow, turned out to be a bad download :| Redownloaded and it flashed fine
CHECK MD5 SUMS BEFORE FLASHING
Some screwed up stuff could have happened, thankfully even S-OFF does have some precautions.
MOD EDIT
Hi everyone,
I'm S-on, unlocked. I used custom Rom, now i want to come back ROM stock for update firmware.
I formatted data and came back to Nandroid, then i flashed to come back stock recovery.
But when i do update, it notify:
Can't update software. There was an unexpected error and the file system may be corrupted. Please contact HTC support for further assistance.
It means that i can't update directly from HTC.
Now how can i do ?
Thanks you for your help.
You need to find the ruu for your model and run it on your pc, that's the easiest method. Then you will need to reroot.
i relocked, go to RUU mod, run fastboot flash zip rom.zip and no result:

Using HTC 10 batch tool in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/firmware-t3068243
and i was was successful, may be this probem came from my phone/adb, fastboot
I tried rooting my phone now it will not get pass the loading screen. I tried to flash the stock ruu but I get errors
I have pictures but not aloud to post yet. But on my phone it says
Software status modified

.
When I try to flash the ruu zip I get

Hi,
you could try using the htc_fastboot from here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24421527759880682
----------
(from thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...arshmallow-t3316279/post65365561#post65365561 )
If your current fastboot isn't working/throws errors, please use the HTC fastboot in the zip below:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24421527759880682 (htc_fastboot.zip)
Replace existing commands with the HTC_fastboot prefix.
So for example, instead of:
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
You would do this instead:
Code:
HTC_fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
You are amazing I just tried and it worked !!!!! You are heavensent.
Now one last question do I have to redo the recovery and everything to get a custom Rom?
I just went through the process of installing the custom Rom again and now my phone constantly boot loops with the message " this build is for development purposes only..." it was the newest version of supersu

Click to collapse
I'm glad it worked
You need to look for an older version of SuperSU.... 2.64 or 2.65
edit: I'm pretty sure this one works
Hello,
today my Moto G7 Play XT1952-1 seems to be bricket. It got stuck at fastboot. The Motorola/Lenovo Rescue tool did not recognize my phone. Seems the bootloader is defective? I will have an try with blank-flash, but i always get an error message: ERROR: sahara_greet_device()->change_mode()->do_hello()->IO error.
Flashing the bootloader gives that result:
$ fastboot flash boot boot.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'boot' (32768 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.187s]
writing 'boot'...
(bootloader) Invalid partition name boot
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 1.187s
Are the partitions damaged somehow?
Any suggestions to fix my phone?
Regards,
Ben
I solved the problem - sometimes it is better to use native windows instead of linux ran it under windows and now i was able to install TWRP again.
