*HELP* An error has occurred while updating the device software. - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

So I was trying to get the beyond rom on my device, As I was currently flashing through Odin for the rom. I'm not sure what happened during the process of the update but odin shut off on its own and cut the update off. Now I have a message on my device saying " An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency Recovery Function in the Smart Switch Mode. ".
I downloaded the smart switch software on my laptop and now the program is saying it's failing to connect to the device. I've reinstalled the samsung drivers tried many different cables not a single one has worked on my device and I've tried a different laptop too nothing has worked.
Really need some assistance on this.

Just flash stock rom with odin.

No need to panic, put yourself back to download mode, reflash firmware with odin

If you can't get it back to D/L mode (like it was in my case), maybe this helps. Mine is a S10+, though. YMMV for an S20xx

[Q] USB stopped working after failed odin flash

Hi, I recently tried using a stock image with odin for my galaxy tab pro 8.4. Odin started flashing but failed when sending system.img.
I tried this process twice and got the same result even using a different USB port in may computer and a different cable but, after the second try (and as the first one I disconnected the computer and restarted into download mode), the tablet usb stopped working.
When I connected it in my first two tries, I got the typical windows sound when you connect anything in the usb, now I dont get anything and not even in the device manager. I tried with another computer and got the same problem, no usb connected sound and nothing in device manager.
My device is now stuck in odin mode. If I try to reboot normally I get into download mode but with the message "Firmware upgrade encounterd an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again".
I have tried deleteing de drivers and installing kies but still nothing.
Can you help me please?

For anyone facing this, you have to wait for the tablet to run out of battery and then connect it again to the computer. It will be detected as before.

[Solved] Bricked while downgrading

Hi,
I tried to downgrade my i9000 and now it's only showing the soft brick sign.
I used to run CM11 with CWM before I decided to downgrade to stock.
I connected the USB cable then used Odin with the same PIT file that I initially used to install CWM. I guess so far so good as it recognizes something on the COM port associated with my USB entry and the background turns yellow.
I have picked the 3 stock files that match my model (GT-I9000M), went in downloading mode and hit Start.
Odin reports that successfully checks the files, then right after "SetupConnection" it ends with Success 0 / Failed 1.
I just do not get farther than that. There is no action in the square above the COM port and there is no other message. The phone remains in Downloading mode and there is no progress bar displayed. at any time.
Anybody can make any suggestion on how to fix it?
When do I know it's totally bricked?
Many thanks.
Until it still goes to downloading mode it is not bricked. This has happened to me once when i tried to go back to stock using odin and odin said it was connected but will say failure after setting up connection my problem was that Virtual box for ubuntu was preventing the phone from being fully connected.
The main problem is that maybe your usb connection in your computer might not be fully recognizing the phone
so try different usb port, open odin in administrator mode, and continue trying it until it works
usually when i use odin i keep the computer as still as possible until flashing has been done completely.
Also are you using the right files because that could be a problem.
Here is the video I originally used to teach me to odin back to stock but its for the samsung vibrant but the procedure is the same

Hope i helped
Thank you for your message. You were right, the problem came from USB, specifically from the driver and OS, I guess.
I failed to flash it on Win7 and Win10, as described above, then I told myself I will give it a try on a XP machine (32 bit). It worked like a charm, first attempt.
Regards.

[Q] Bricked Gio - No Boot, No Recovery, Only Download Mode, Odin Doesn't Detect

Hey there guys!
Recently I wanted to get some custom ROM on my brother's Gio. It had stock Samsung software on it, did a factory wipe in recovery, worked perfectly, then I installed CWM in the orignal recovery from the SD card - didn't root before. Since then I can't boot into Recovery, however Android booted up. I tried to use some apps in software to get rid of this problem, but ROM Manager said the device is not supported, then I tried another one called Rashr, which had a question relating to recovery I guess instantly on the app's startup, I hit "Reboot" since then the phone is bricked. If I turn it on with just the power button, it shows the Samsung logo, stuck in a bootloop. I can't access recovery, only dumpram, and Download Modes. I tried fixing this with reinstalling the stock stuff through Odin, but the software doesn't detect the phone. Tried installing Kies, standalone USB drivers, multiple Odin versions, different cables, ports, different computer, nothing worked. When I connect the phone to my PC it plays the "device connected sound" but I got a message, that it's an unidentified device. Went into Device manager, where it recognizes it as a Samsung USB device, with the yellow triangle. Tried updating the driver manually from the manufacturer's list, uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers with no luck. Also I tried cleaning the USB port of the phone, still nothing.
The computers I've tried are running Windows 8.1.
Please help me, I think I've tried everything still the device is bricked.
I have same problem.
did you fix it ?
weLL ,sad to say it but ,its neither worth the effort, time or my typing these letters up here to remind you ,that it's neither the end of days or expensive to buy something this side of the stone aGe ! have fun but not with that one ;(

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 totally bricked

Hello, it all started when i wanted to correct a soft-bricked Galaxy Tab 3. In the beginning, it was possible for me to enter download mode. I downloaded the correct samsung drivers, odin v3.07 and the official Greek firmware. I tried several times to unbrick the device but i was getting a failure in odin. After several tries i got the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" error. I then downloaded Kies and was getting a connection loop. Tried again with odin but i mess things totally because now my device is not even recognized as a device. I changed a cable, i pulled off the battery, changed usb port, rebooted my PC but still... when in "firmware upgrade" error, the device is not recognized AT ALL. I also tried the firmware upgrade method in Kies, by providing a model name and a serial number but i get an error that says my model does not support initializing. Is there a possible way to make the device work or am i "lucky" enough...?
Thanks in advance.

Went back to stock, ota, now computer doesn't see tablet in download mode

After rooting the device (n 5110) and installing a custom recovery I had to flash it back to stock (which I had to download because I somehow didn't have it backup from before) in order to get an OTA update. I used Odin to flash back to stock and AFAICT everything seems fine. After the update I don't see what was different, the android system was 4.4.2 before the update, but I was prompted to update so I did. Now am looking to reflash the custom recovery and install a custom rom. I didn't have a custom ROM on it before, just custom recovery and root.
So I'm trying to flash TWRP back on it so I can flash a custom ROM. I recall flashing TWRP and rooting was pretty problematic the first time and I don't recall what I did to get it to work.
This time I've tried following the instructions for flashing lineage os. Running a windows machine. If the tablet is hooked up booted into system windows sees it and I can transfer files to and from the tablet via explorer, both the internal memory and sdcard, if that matters, so I know the cable and usb port are functional. I just flashed stock yesterday, so I guess they would be.
I've enabled USB debugging and checked the box to remember the computer. When it's in system, if I type "adb devices" it reports a device, it did say "unauthorized" before I got the prompt and checked the box to remember my computer, after I got the prompt it just listed the device and it seemed fine. If I kill the adb server and disconnect the tablet and reboot tablet into system it's remembering my computer and granting access. Adb reports the device.
I've gone to the samsung site and downloaded the drivers for the tablet and installed them. I've tried updating them both through device manager and zadig that comes with heimdall.. I've tried all three usb ports and three different usb cables.
However whenever I boot into download mode, and type "adb devices" I get blank. I've tried leaving the device plugged in, unplugging and rebooting, then plugging in, I've tried disconnecting and connecting the device at various times, stopping and starting adb, waiting 30 seconds or so before hitting volume up to confirm going into download mode. Adb devices just pulls up blank.
Odin doesn't light up or say anything when I boot it up into download mode, heimdall throws errors when I try to do anything. I have odin 3.09 so I don't see this "AP" button people mention, I think tha'ts supposed to be "PDA" on my current version? I dunno, if I got it to work I'm not sure how I would flash TWRP with it.
If I type "heimdall print-pit", which is part of the instructions for lineage os, I get the following error.
Initialising connection...
Detecting device...
Claiming interface...
Setting up interface...
Initialising protocol...
libusbx: error [windows_transfer_callback] detected I/O error 87: [87] The parameter is incorrect.
ERROR: Failed to send data!Releasing device interface...
I dunno, I have to be missing something, but I don't know what.
