I've done this same thing, removed all HTC* and Sense* apps and services from my phone. I staged it using Titanium to freeze them all first, then after a week of no crashes, no FC's , and having the kernel I wanted, I removed them all.
The problem I'm having is how to convey this info to you. Titanium backup will produce a list but it seems a bug will only list the user apps, not the system ones in the resultant email.
I think I could just do a complete listing from adb of the content of /system/app, and you can diff it with your own to produce things that do no harm when removed.
If you're interested, let me know. There is , I think, no "sense" left when done with this. Compared to say the Rom called Senseless R., it has much less apps & services (that are all social networking garbage) installed and it runs very well. Normally, at any given time, it is running 8-18 services & apps, compared to ~50-60 before I did this.
I guess I'd rather make my own mistakes then install someone else's. (which might make you think twice about doing anything I recommend )
Of course, as always, do a full nandroid backup before starting on this type of thing. Remove one wrong thing and you're likely not going to be able to reboot, but I think if you freeze them first with TB, then you might be able to boot using 'safe mode' (see XDA) and still unfreeze the culprit keeping it from rebooting (use logcat to figure it out if you can).

Thanks for the tips.
I'm using 'root uninstaller' that shows all apps and 'com.android' stuff.
I did a full backup and am experimenting uninstalling different things.
One of the .htc uninstalls resulted in crashing mms, 3g and just about anything major like the dialer.
Slowly and surely I'm doing a full backup everytime I get to a point where I uninstalled a few things and everything still works great.
I haven't been keeping track of exactly what I've been uninstalling so I guess I can't help out anyone in the future :/
This ROM is based off of EC07-Clean, but with even less stuff
I just pieced junk together and hit the delete button a lot

I've gotten a couple PM's that people love the ROM, and I plan on making a EC07-Nuckin-2 package.
My thoughts thus far:
New Kernel (imnuts)
Scribble boot animation
Zeam Launcher to replace TouchWiz (Zeam is super memory efficient)
Dolphin Mini to replace Browser
Better instructions, including a TAR to use with Odin
Link to alternate framework-res.apk (trailblazer's) to restore the buttons
What do you think would make this ROM cooler/faster/awesome...er?

I flashed this rom a few days ago, and so far it is great. I love how clean and fast it is.
The only problems I have had are some issues it apps FCing. I use these apps daily and was wondering if anybody has had any luck fixing FC problems? I would hate to do it, but if I can't get these apps working right I might have to reflash DL17 again.
Here are some of the apps I have come across so far that FC every time:
-Wells Fargo Mobile
-Stock Android Browser
-Movies
I am sure there are other, but these are the only ones that I have found so far that I use on a regular basis. If anybody has any insight on this it would be great.

I had the same problem with Browser, I just switched to Dolphin Mini HD but I understand you can't really do that with the other 2 apps you listed. Is it just my ROM you've had this issue with or all EC03 and EC07 ROMs?
I've had the same issue. It's been with all versions of ec07 though. some ec03 as well (if memory serves me correctly) I swapped to dolphin browser and haven't had any trouble.

Can I assume you wiped dalvik on install? If so, I'd start by clearing data on each of the affected apps in settings/applications/manage applications. And if that fails, try deleting the apps themselves, along with any data stored on SD card and reinstall fresh. Generally fc issues are due to the way the app interacts with the system.

Yeah, the browser is not that big of a deal, I switched to Opera and like it alot better than stock anyway. I ran the clean EC07 first before I switched to your rom, but I only had it on for a couple of hours so I don't know if that one had the FC issues as well. I don't think there is enough difference between the two to cause these issues. Yours is just more debloated.

Yes, I wiped cache, dalvik cache, and did factory reset/wipe data before I installed the rom, then wiped the caches again after just to be sure. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling all the apps I was having problems with. I will try clearing the app data and removing data from SD card tonight and let yall know if anything changes.
---------- Post added at 09:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:12 PM ----------
Ok, tried clearing data, uninstalling, wiping SD card, and reinstalling apps. Didn't work, they are all three still FCing. I think it has something to do with them accessing network/data. Browser doesn't FC until I try to load a page, Wells Fargo doesn't FC until I try to log in, and Flixter movies FCs as soon as I open it. All thee times they are trying to use network. Doesn't matter if I am on 3G for Wifi.
Just a thought, I don't know if that actually has anything to do with it.
One more thought, is it possible to have your phone hooked up to ADB in usb debugging while running an app to see why it is getting a force close?

I'm pretty sure you can use the command logcat for that

Yes. As circa said, logcat
Commands are as follows
Adb shell
(it will start daemon. Once that is done, you will get a hashtag)
Logcat
(wait for it to scroll, then after it settles down, start the affected app)

Hi guys, could someone please have a look at our SwitchMe app and see if it works on the Nexus 7 - we dont have one of these at the office and are unlikely to get one any time soon
Basically, SM allows many people to use one device. But it has a lot of other uses. PR is after the break!
Thanks in advance!

SwitchMe - share your device!
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple user spaces just as you would on a desktop computer, with each profile having its own separate system settings, apps and data.
Some of the benefits of this technology:
Privacy
Securely share one device among many users, protect your accounts with passwords and log out automatically.
Kids
Create a profile for the kids, with only the apps and access you feel comfortable with.
Gaming
Overclock your profile for maximum performance in intensive games
Speed
Imagine a buttery smooth profile, with no kids games, messengers or bloatware to slow things down.
Testing
Create a sandbox profile to easily test applications and themes - no more nandroid nightmares!
Battery
Switch to a profile which only contains the essentials to save power through brute force.
Critical usage warning:
Incorrect use of this application can potentially harm your device. Before proceeding with use we strongly recommend that you perform a full nandroid backup through the device recovery.
READ THE HELP FILE CAREFULLY TO AVOID ISSUES
Without the Key, this application allows a maximum of 2 profiles and no security features.
Only the standard Android implementation of Apps2SD is currently supported. Use all others at your own risk.
Most devices should be compatible as long as they have enough free internal memory to create secondary profiles. The application will warn users if available memory is low.
Stay tuned for new features, and please rate the application by pressing the star button on the main screen - good ratings help us improve and expand functionality!
Market link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.switchme
The free version only allows the creation of two profiles and has no security features.

Been looking at this app for quite some time but never actually tested it out... now I have a nexus 7 it might be a time to change that.
Firstly what I would want is to set a second profile for my girlfriend, hiding all root apps and giving her a kindle profile etc, the basic stuff. I take it that is what this app is designed to do?
secondly, how does uninstalling this app work?

It all seems to work perfectly for me. Great app. SwitchMe allows me to lend my N7 to family members whilst keeping my profile intact and hidden.
My only suggestion at the moment is to allow a different wallpaper choice for the switch screen. I could then set a background with graphic instructions/welcome messages on it.

1 - yes
2 - uninstalling the app will not remove the profiles. You must manually remove them, either through the app or by deleting its data. The app will warn you that you will lose access to all inactive profiles when deleting them (restricting you to the profile youre in at the moment).

Hello, I'm very interested in this app.
I want to be able to have my own profile and one for my children to play educational games.
I would like to be able to hide applications on that particular profile even if the data is not shared across profiles on the same app.
I would also be concern about the storage. Would they be able to view the files on my sdcard from other profiles? Is there a way to prevent that or allocated some storage space for different accounts?
Also another concern that I have is with Rom updates or even switching roms. In the case I want to just update the rom and at worst I have to do a cache/dalvik cache wipe, would that affect the profiles in any way?
Edit: I just tested and I can view everything on the storage area of the device and further. Also the gallery shows all the photos that stored on the device.
As I said above, the maintenance is up to you. Regarding different roms - you can only use one base from - if you want to use a new one, you will need to remove the app and delete your profiles.
Anything to report?
Hi guys. Heres an update with some critical fixes:
1.5.3.13
Added compatibility for Galaxy Note
Fixed switch screen issue on OTA updates and wipes
Reworked wipe profile behavior
I created a new profile and named it "default". Then I chose to switch to it and my player rebooted. After rebooting though it comes up with a login screen but whenever I put in my name "default" and try to log in it does nothing. I'm completely locked out. Also I did not set any password. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Hello,
First off, I want to say thank you for creating this app. It has been working great for my family to share our N7.
I'm familiar with linux, but I am not familiar with Android. So I have a couple questions.
1. I installed an app(game) in the wrong user's profile. My son made alot of progress in it and I don't want to lose it. Is there a way to copy an app and all of its data from one profile to another?
2. If I download a new app in one profile is there a way to copy it to multiple profiles without having to redownload it again. Could this be done through ADB?
3. If I wanted to wipe the tablet and start over will doing a backup with TiBu copy all the data for every user or do I need to do a separate backup for each user?
Thanks for your help,
Chris
Been using it ever since I got my Nexus 7, works great for my wife and I.
I haven't tried the experimental fast-switch though, maybe I should.
My only recommendation is to set the priority on the notification to one of the new JellyBean ones, the lowest. That way it will stay in the notification tray, but won't show the icon on the top bar. That's something Lux and Battery Widget Reborn do really well. It still keeps the apps running, just doesn't crowd the bar with icons.

2 - yes sure why not go for it
3 - no, unless you wipe the profiles through the app or manually delete them they will remain intact on the sd card

Fast switch will only affect things like multiple languages, multiple lcd densities and and other framework related stuff. Just try it, it wont make your device explode.
Regarding the notification. It is not there to keep the app in memory, its there for logging out. App doesnt need to be in memory, it will work just fine with no notification at all.
This thread is for...
• Helping you to understand why you would want to upgrade your Samsung Galaxy S3 to a 5.1 ROM.
• Helping to address any concerns prior to this upgrade.
• Helping you to accomplish this upgrade.
• Helping you to troubleshoot and fix any issues after this upgrade.
• Talking about custom kernels, mods, tweaks, custom recoveries, apps, privacy, etc. for the Galaxy S3 running a 5.1 ROM.
• Talking about anything else similar to the above that pertains to the GS3 with a 5.1 ROM.
Why Would I Want To Upgrade My GS3?
**** Your Galaxy S3 is an amazing machine for how old it is. However support and customization is limited now that there are "better" phones available. Waiting for updates from android can be frustrating. Some newer software may not work for you. Bugs can get on your last nerve. Everyone else seems to have a cooler phone.
**** By upgrading your phone you can unlock its full potential safely without losing important data stored on the phone. Customization, performance, compatibility, and privacy will improve and can get close to or even surpass some of the brand new devices coming out today! My GS3 outperforms my sisters GS6 in many ways!
**** If you decide to make the change you will feel like you have a brand new phone and forget about upgrading anytime soon! Newer models are removing sd card access, removable batteries, privacy measures that protect you, etc. This phone is a beast if you give it a little TLC! If in the end you prefer the older way you can restore your phone to the exact moment before you upgraded and everything will be the same, no harm done! I am assuming you are rooted already, although this may not be necessary if you are flashing a ROM that is pre-rooted like Cyanogenmod.
Issues That I Have Experienced To Be Aware Of Before Upgrading. Most Of These Are Fixed In Recent Builds, But I'm Including The Solutions That Worked For Me Anyway.
• Issue: Blackscreen during phone calls
Fix: For me I used xposed app proximity off. Other solutions can cause high cpu usage due to general, sloppy developing
• Issue: No 4g or mms
Fix: For me i used cm12 ting apn zip
Better fix: use apn backup app prior to upgrade and save settings so you can reapply them on new ROM.
• Issue: Battery drain
Fix: For me I recalibrated my battery and used* Xprivacy and Greenify apps along with built in privacy guard advanced settings to double my battery life
• Issue: No sound when using free phone apps
Fix: For me i had to edit my build.prop real quickly and changed mic from digital to analog. Consult with a professional before editing your build.prop
• Issue: Root access denied
Fix: For me I had to enable developer settings and enable root access there
• Issue: App not opening
Fix: For me I had to boot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik and then reboot.
• Issue: No Google apps or playstore
Fix: For me i had to flash gapps after update.
• Issue: Stuck in boot
Fix: For me i had to pull battery and hold power button down for 30sec. Then using button combination reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik and then reboot.
Things To Do Before Upgrading To Be Safe
~ Research ROMS and select one that is for your device model# specifically (ex: sprint s3 is different from verizon s3). If unsure just ask!
~ Make sure your battery is fully charged.
~ This guide is for the sprint variant. Other variants may have locked bootloaders and if so this could brick your device without first unlocking.
~ Install custom recovery (I recommend TWRP. CWM has known problems with our device, so please don't use it if you care about your device).
~ Create a TWRP backup (also called nandroid backup) and put on sd card.
~ Backup your texts to sd card using app called Sms backup and restore.
~ Backup music, pics, vids, downloads, contacts, calendar, etc. to sd card.
~ Backup apps to sd card using Titanium Backup App. Although it will be better to re-download them after upgrading.
~ Email yourself links to your bookmarks in browser.
~ Screenshot anything that you cant figure out how to save.
~ Look at each app in your list of app and think "is there any data in this app that I don't want to lose?"
~ Backup anything else not mentioned above that you care about to sd card.
~ Download ROM zip and gapps zip to sd card.
How To Accomplish This Upgrade
~ If there is anything you don't understand yet, please ask now!
~ Do everything listed under "Things To Do Before Upgrading To Be Safe".
~ Verify in file manager that your nandroid backup, all important data, and all zips needed for upgrade are on your sd card not internal storage.
~ Make sure your battery is fully charged.
~ Boot to custom recovery (Please use TWRP!)
~ Pull out sd card so that you don't accidentally erase it.
~ Select wipe-advanced wipe-and check the boxes for dalvik, system, data, internal storage, cache.
~ Reinsert sd card.
~ Select install-micro sd card (touch where it says, "storage: internal storage" and switch to micro sd card)
~ Find and select new 5.1 ROM zip and Gapps zip on sd card.
~ Flash them and reboot to system.
~ Allow about 15min reboot.
~ Go through initial setup of ROM to get to home screen.
~ Let it sit on home screen for about 10 more minutes to allow background processes to update.
~ Get ready to show off your phone because it will be amazing!
Give it time to reboot and dont interrupt the process it typically takes 15 min total. If you are stuck at boot image still then pull the battery out, and hold down power button for 30 seconds. Then replace battery and reboot directly to recovery by holding down power, volume up, and home. When it flashes logo and in top left corner you see blue writing, then let go of power button and continue to hold volume up and home until you see the recovery screen. Then wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot. If this does not work, then all you need to do is boot to recovery again using hardbutton combo like above, and restore your nandroid backup from sd card. If you brick your device by making a mistake somehow in all of this, and you forgot to nandroid, then you need to search for the debrick image for your specific device to start over, or use odin to flash back to stock, but it will come back to life dont worry.
Btw I am running cm12.1 nightly with Dkp kernel, Lspeed mod, Xposed 5.1, and carrier is Ting.
Ask me if you are interested in help to finely tune battery, performance, and privacy after installing your 5.1 ROM.

I'm pretty sure this is just Google App attempting to open the mic for voice search, which was denied since you have it set to ignore (you must use the search app a lot, and/or Google Now). You don't use voice search, so it doesn't impact you. But voice search won't work with that permission set to ignore.
I could be wrong, but the clandestine recording and transmission of audio files would cause a battery and data hit that would be noticed at some point. Besides, they're already using whatever we type (or speak) into search and Gmail for ad targeting and that's the deal we make for using their "free" services.

They are attempting to open mic but why when i dont ever hit voice search? I know it wont work thats why i set to ignore. U are right that we agree to them using info for using apps for free. U make good points but ultimately u r taking their word for it that we should trust them. I will hunt down some documents tonight to show u some problems and bugs with google in the past. This has been noticed by other people. For example there have been "bugs" when after using google voice it stays on. Heres an article from forbes that is related too but they are not even talking about many problems

In fact when google started this about 10 years or so ago we were not giving permission and they had to stop and fix legal scripts before continuing. Lots of articles from back in those days whem i first started knowing about this seem to have "disappeared" from the internet. Im sure google had a part in that because it was bad advertising. I know someone who listens to similar recordings made by a popular app as a full time job and transcribes them to text for their "marketing purposes". Of course we are agreeing to the fine print but i dont think we really realize who they are sharing that info with, and that its okay for them to listen when app malfunctions, background voices are transcribed too, etc. I know i sound crazy but there is much proof of untrusted individuals accessing legit data and using as they want. Look at all Edward Snowdens revelations so far and more are coming. I just cant trust all these companies that cooperate with govt info requests. Even encryption as we know it is a lie and not random. I got crazy day but would love to talk more on this tonight if u want

I'm not saying it's not possible, or that I trust Google. And, to be sure, there are plenty of vulnerabilities and exploits out there, as in the examples you mentioned. But I don't think the specific issue you have with Google app is an attempt by Google to spy on you. You say you don't hit voice search, but do you hit search at all? Also, if you have a launcher that has "OK Google" functionality (I don't), that might cause it, too. My phone (SPH-L710, Exodus, dkp) indicates that that Record Audio was triggered 114 times by Google app, which I estimate to be about the number of times I've hit search, and I hit search again and the number increased by one. Now, if you don't use search or have any "OK Google" functionality, then your Record Audio number is curious.

I will look into that thanks for info. I know i accidently hit google search maybe 5 to 10 times a day but it still seems high. Dont really care since its blocking it anyway but i will try other browser and see if that helps. Just dont know why its trying to use voice on regular searches still seems wrong. I know its nothing personal to spy on me alone. They are probably fairly spying on everyone lol! Nice to see a fellow DKP user!

I actually did. I've been busy actually using it so I apologize for not getting back here to update on it. I did have to do pretty much what you advised, with a new flash, new gapps, reboot. flash rom, flash gapps, flash apn, reboot. open apn settings and verify info. At least something close to that.
Thanks for the information, really appreciated. I am running it on liquidsmooth 4.4.4. at this time. I had other issues with 5.1 stuff. Also using BMS kernel.

Honestly i have not tried yet. Im just using built in audiofx. But i heard viper was better. I would be happy to mess around with it though and let you know what i found if you would like me to. Im under the impression that many people are having problems with it right now with cm12.1. Have you tried? Any problems? if so do you have full busybox, selinux permissive, and switch compatibility mode in viper settings? let me know if you want me to try and report back to you. Thanks for participating in the thread, when i get more thanks will give you a :good:

Haven't had time to mess around with it yet. I'm actually on AICP 10.0, which is based on CM 12.1. I think it's only officially supported for Android 5.0.2, but if you would give it a shot, that'd be great!
Hi.
I just wrote a similar post in reply to a member's thread. It took me more than 1.5 hours, but when I finished my browser closed and all that work was proved to be in vain.
These are the tips which will help you to improve your phone's battery usage, ram and overall performance.
Disclamiar:Follow at your own risk.I am not responsible for any damage.
These are for people using and which plan to use stock roms.Custom roms can help you alot. Thanks to developers for them.
(I don't speak english. So sorry,if you cannot understand anything or something feels wrong.Ask me below for questions and any doubts. It is my 1st post.
TIPS:
1. Uninstall unwanted apps and those which dont work.Like games which you dont play.
Have a complete look at all the apps you have installed or are pre-installed.
If you dont use Here Maps, uninstall it.
Social apps like Facebook, bbm, viber, twitter, whatsapp use backgroung processing and network data leading to less ram.Uninstall which you dont use.For Facebook use Facebook lite version app.
For uninstalling these apps you need Titanium backup.Your device must be rooted and have Superuser installed. You can also disable apps from titanium backup so they wont work and you can defrost them any time you need them later.
2.If you think that you may need any app again in future.Copy its apk file.
Tutorial:
I use X-plore file manager for this purpose and for exploring root.It is free.
Install it and click on app manager.Select the app by long pressing on it or touching the 'marking' sign in front of it.You can mark multiple files at a time. Then copy them to your desired internal or external sdcard. You will have to open the target folder in the second pane.Click copy but dont tick move. You have succesfully copied desired file's apk to your sdcard.
If you are rooted, you can even copy apks of apps which are system apps and are not shown in app manager.
In xplore go to root, then system, then app.You will probably find all of the system apps apk here.Copy the ones you need like you did above.
This tip is especially useful for those wondering where their app's apk go after installing from google play store. You can find those apks in App manager, system>apps and also the ones you update and install only from google play from Data>apps.Even the apps included in google apps package and were updated like store, google services and weather and news etc from Data>apps. In order to know which app is it,click on it.It will ask you to install. You will be able to see the app's name in the appeared window.
You need root access for accessing System and Data inside Root folder.
Also you can learn which app was updated from 'Titanium backup'.It will show updated infront of those apps.
(I searched internet for above tip for a long time but could not find it,not all of it.Then I learnt it myself and shared with you.)
3.Install any taskmanager app,Greenify is the best b/c of its ease of use and other factors. It does not require root. But you will only get real benefit if you are rooted and will be able to hibernate all apps even those which dont hibernate in non-root mode like Uc Browser and other system apps.It requires donation package to greenify system apps.Get a donated version and install xposed then xposed's framework inside it.You will be in boost mode. You can check it by clicking Mode in Greenify.
4.Use Google play store instead of Nokia store. It is a lot better than nokia store and others.
Check if HERE supports your country and has maps for your country. If not then there is not point in keeping it.Uninstall it using Titanium Backup, scroll down to Here in titanium backup and uninstall it.If you really use maps but are not available on Nokia Here, try Google Maps or any other.
Maps,Email and social apps work in background and use mobile data.
5.Everytime you close an app make sure delete its notification from fastlane and also if you have updated your software, swipe down from upper side of touch screen, you will have and icon left of setting icon,it will be like swapping icon.Click it and then close all the apps except the one you are running right now by touching cross sign below them or just scroll up from down and click close all apps.
6.Move some heavy apps to your sdcard to free some space for other apps by going to setting>apps>manage apps>all and click on the apps you want to move and then click move to phone storage.
7.There are many applications which claim to optimize your ram and improve performance, you can check them out but most of them are not free.
For example,Sd card caches plus booster pro downloads caches to your sd card instead of default data folder which we accessed above.
And ther ram boosters,Battery saver pro plus booster etc.
See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2771255
For these apps.
8.This tip will feel a bit unusual but I know it works great because I have a mobile repairing background.
Always,Always keep your phone clean.Avoid
Taking it out in dust and rain or where ever there is a chance of getting it wet and dirty.
Use a soft cloth to clean your phone from outside and remove your battery clean it and especially battery terminals, then clean the terminals of battery inside the phone.4 of them are there which touch the battery and hence the phone gets power from battery.
If there is any dirt or foreign object or layer gently rub it off with a cloth or use a soft brush. You can use your old tooth brush too for cleaning purpose.
Actualy when any extra layer of dirt or water etc. is present on battery terminals,it messes with the supply of current to the phone.it can cause less power supply or even sudden increase which may lead to a dead phone or damaged phone.
JUst DONT GO ALL WILD AND BREAK THE BATTERY TERMINALS AND ANYTHING ELSE.
9.Dont forget the little hole about 3mm away from usb port on touch screen.Microphone is under it so clean off the dirt inside it or else the other person may not be able to hear you when on a call.
10.Dont use cracks and patchers too much. They can cause some application to stop suddenly.
11.Before installing any app, patch or custom rom or kernels, please thoroughly read all the instruction provided to know their pros and cons and also learn what problems they can cause so you may fix them and dont have to point your finger towards their developers for your loss.If they provided you with all information and somehow you damage your phone,it will be your fault.Only if they say everything will be fine, just install and dont tell you about the faults, then they can be responsible.
12.Feel free to search this forum and the internet to get more information.
Hope these help.
Again sorry for bad punctuation and spellings. If you dont understand anything, post below.I dont know much english.
Thanks..
