Wireless charger not working with original S20+ brick - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Ok, I posted a thread in accessories, but maybe Questions is a better place to post that. I didn't get any response anyway, so I might try here. Admins, feel free to delete the other thread. Here it is:
I just bought this wireless charger for my S20+ and my buds+, but when i plug the charger than came with my S20+ it just won't work. It didn't come with a cable or charger.
When i plug my 5 year old Sony charger, then the led blinks and it works and charges my S20+ or Buds+ wirelessly.
How can it work with a crappy charger and not with the brand new official one? Im pretty sure it is compatible with Samsung fast charger. Should I contact the store to replace it? Is this malfunction?
Also, I believe that charging with the regular Sony charger plugged to the wireless will take longer than the Samsung fast charger in the wireless, right?

[Q] OK so what the hell? (charging issues) Question.

My new Nexus and it's charger have had a falling out:
My charger won't charge my phone, but charges other people's phones. And other people's chargers charge my phone!!?
What's really weird is that my charger charges my phone when it's switched off but I've done a data wipe and it still won't work once the phone is powered on, so my question is:
What the motherf*ck?
Anyone seen this before?
I rooted, clockworked and installed paul obrien's customised ROM with the volume fix and extra menu and search buttons. And my phone was fine. I've got other chargers knocking around, although they're not the same. Should I be worried?

What charger are you using to try and charge your Nexus? Mains or usb? I only got a usb cable in my box and they are pretty much just standard micro usb cables. You should also be able to use any 5V mains to usb converter which you plug the usb cable into to charge your device so as long as you can find some combination that works then I wouldnt worry too much about it.
However if you are concerned then send the phone back for a replacement while you are able to.
Mark.
You'd think the first place you'd go to would be Google or Samsung. Why wouldn't you give them a call first?
I have found that some of the lower power (1 amp or less) chargers are having trouble with the larger phones with bigger batteries. Interestingly, my old SGS2 desktop cradle/charger wouldn't charge the SGN (which fits into the charger - sticks out a bit but the phone sits on the mini-USB fine) with the charger that came with the desktop cradle. I replaced it with the higher powered (10W?) usb charger that came with my ipad2 and, lo & behold, the phone will charge.
Not sure if this helps or not but I've discovered that not all chargers are created equal.
Yea, some of the higher powered phones/tablets won't charge over the lower power chargers... hence why tablets won't charge over a PC-USB connection.
Sounds like the charger is faulty... unless nothing charges the phone.

Thanks for that stellar advice, and if the issue hadn't followed rooting and rom-ing my phone and hence invalidating my warranty, and not occurring prior to the fact, then maybe I would've. And just for the record, have you ever called Google regarding an issue with your phone?

Sorry, if I wasn't clear (and for spamming the forum?) but I got a UK SGN via phones4u on o2 and I received in the box a USB cable and an AC wall charger with a USB socket on it.
I don't think you guys are getting how weird this is:
If I connect my Nexus to a PC with the USB cable that came with it, it doesn't charge.
If I connect the USB to the supplied AC wall adapter and plug it into my phone it doesn't charge.
If I connect anyone else's smartphone phone to my Nexus charger, be it just USB cable or with AC it charges.
And if I connect anyone else's USB cable and/or charger to my phone it charges!?
My phone will charge from the supplied kit only when it is powered off, hence a software issue and not a hardware issue which is why I didn't call Samsung.
I've done a factory reset, I've restored to backups made prior to the issue occurring. I haven't admittedly done the full unroot and stock restore as yet and would rather not. I just wondered if anyone else here had experienced weirdness with the supplied charger?
Many thanks guys, sorry for the sarcasm earlier, it's just that I'm not lazy, I read and read up on things before posting questions. And I've posted very few questions on XDA since I registered here after buying my Milestone. I'm only posting in the general discussion thread so didn't think it'd be a big deal if I bumped this. The reason I did is I only have a limited time before I no longer qualify for a hardware replacement from the supplier if I claim it faulty. (which I kinda don't think it is)

Bumping this thread since I'm having almost the exact same problem and found this thread after searching. How did you solve it?
My situation is like this:
If I connect my Nexus to a PC with the USB cable that came with it, it does charge.
My phone will not charge from the supplied kit when it is powered off.
Feels very wierd, the other two chargers I have tried were a 700mA ZTE Blade charger and a 2A Asus Transformer charger, both are charging my Nexus perfectly fine.

Car Charger

I bought the below car charger because the cheap generic one I had from an old phone couldn't keep up with the drain from the screen when running sat nav.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290627400358?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
This also doesn't work, it loses a percent of charge every 10 minutes or so, while I'm aware this isn't alot and I can probably get anywhere in the UK on a full charge, the fact is I want my phone to actually be charging while it's plugged in as I don't always have a full charge and I may need it topping up on my journey in case I don't have another charging opportunity for a while.
I cannot find another genuine samsung product that claims to be compatible with the s2 (indeed the above "genuine" charger doesn't appear on Samsung's website.) There is one on their site (P10CBE In-Car Charger) however it claims to be only compatible with the galaxy tab. While I know it simply has a USB socket for use with any data cable, I'm worried it may damage the phone if rated too high in amps (700mA to 2A is a big jump.)
So I have 3 questions...
1) Is the tab charger safe to use, and does anyone else have this and can confirm it can keep up with the screen permanently on with google navigation running.
2) Can anyone suggest another brand that they have experience with it definitely keeping up with the charge on a galaxy s2, running screen etc.
3) I quite like the look of the official Samsung car mount, can anyone confirm if the charger included with this can keep up etc (also if you know what ampage it's rated to as I can't find this info on the product data.)
Many thanks if you take the time to reply to this, a bit lengthy I know.

Use siyah's kernel to increase the charging current, how high you can go is anyones guess. Stock kernel supply's 450mA when plugged into a usb port and 650mA when plugged into a charger, i set mine to 800mA for both and all seems fine so far.
I have used a motorola car charger and this has actually worked better that the original samsung car charger, charges faster, and has a cool blue light. since the micro-usb is non-proprietary, you have lots of options.
Using an Official charger, better than those cheap ones that fail to keep the battery topped up while using the phone as a satnav.
I have a Sony Ericsson Original AN401 Compact Car Charger and it charges when using satnav.
The main problem with the cheap adapters is the output current, it tends to be too low for GPS. Make sure it is regulated & 750mah or higher.

Best wall charger

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with my original wall charger that came with the phone. There seems to be something wrong between the cable and the connector you are plugging into the phone. I need to have the cable in a specific position for the phone to be able to recharge.
The question is, is there any better charger than the original samsung one? I could probably get it replaced as it still is in warranty, but I don't like how slow it recharges the phone. If I am running a 3D game the phone is slowly DISCHARGING even when plugged in to a wall charger.
I noticed the charger has only 500-700 mA output. I had an older htc charger which had 1000 mA output. Would a charger like this recharge my phone faster? I have seen some posts about non-samsung chargers not being able to recharge the battery fast as there is some kind of protection built into the phone.
I would also consider buying a wireless charger if it was available for a reasonable price.
Are you all using the stock chargers?
Thanks in advance for any help.
you can read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721677&highlight=charging
Just to make sure it is the charger's fault, does the phone charge normally if connected to a computer, from the USB port?
Thanks for the link.
Yes, phone charges and transfers data from USB without any problem, so it should be fault on the charger.
Reading through that thread, I guess there is no point in buying a more powerful charger.
as i said there, i use a nokia 1200mAh charger and the charging time is more than 2 hours, so we have to deal with it. The thing you should care of is the quality of the charger to avoid the touchscreen known problems
Imho you don`t need better (more powerfull) charger because of the hardware limitations. What you should do is to try any other microUSB charger just to see if that solves your problem. So if any of your friends of family have other samsung or nokia etc. phone, thats charging with microUSB, plug it into your phone to see if it solves your problem. You will know what to do next if it does

[Q] Charger for Z1C

Hi,
I'm the owner of a new Z1C and I'm wondering if it would be harmful for the battery to charge it with a normal usb cable different from the one supplied by Sony. I can imagine it should not be an issue, but I also tried to connect a older headphones to the Z1C and a popup warned me about a "Non-Sony headphones", so... I prefer to ask to be really sure.
Can I charge the phone with a normal usb cable? Thanks in advance,
I've actually been using the cable that came with my Kindle and it works perfectly, no issues at all. It charges quickly and I don't get any errors on my phone. I've also used the cable that came with my Ipega bluetooth controller and it works as well.
I would however recommend staying away from the wall adapters they sell at CVS/Walgreens near the front, and possibly the cables too. I noticed that whenever I plugged in my phone using the wall adapter, the touch screen wouldn't function properly and acted like every time I touched the screen, even if it was to quickly swipe, that I was pressing instead. Horrible.
I also use a non-Sony charger and it works fine. As long is it is a micro-usb charger it will be fine. Headphones on the other hand are different though like you said. I tried a pair of earphones from my older Sony Ericsson X8 and it tells me it is not a supported so yea...
Since the USB specification is quite rigorous there should be no problems, except for very cheap adapters which provide an unstable voltage.
Hello @dramatictone;,
It's safe to charge it with another charger as long as the ampere of the charger is not higher than 2A. However, most aftermarket chargers are rated at 1A, which means that it'll charge slower.
It's also important to buy a quality charger with the safety marks; if you don't want to risk burning down your house while charging over night. Don't buy those generic China chargers, they're not safe to use.
I hope my answer cleared any doubts.
Have a great day,
GethPrime
Thank you very much everybody, I'm more confident now

No problem, but remember to buy a quality charger and you'll be fine. However, any MicroUSB cable will be fine for charging, even cheap China ones

Yep. I had planned to use the official Sony charger at home and the oldie Samsung Galaxy S charger (or even a microusb cable) when charging the phone at the office, but I wanted to be really sure first: I've been using the phone for three days now and I have only had to charge it just once, so I don't want to damage the battery now that I have a phone that lasts more than one day

Note that the old Samsung chargers are rated at 0,7A, so it'll take some time to charge. Other than that it'll work just fine.

[Q] Replacement wall plug for wireless charger

Looking for some help with the official Nexus Wireless Charger, which my husband uses (used) with his Nexus 5.
My husband was moving his bedside table and forgot to unplug the wireless charger from the wall first. He ended up bending the pins and they can't be fixed. The USB cord and the actual QI Portion of the charger itself are fine, they work when they're plugged into my wireless charger, it's just the wall outlet that needs to be replaced.
We've tried plugging it into the myriad of other wall adapters we have that have come with other devices, but they all result in that little red light coming on which indicates inadequate power.
I've just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Google. They used to sell just the charger accessory but it's no longer available for purchase and they don't have any more in stock, and the charger was purchased JUST over a year ago so the limited warranty is shot on it.
I'm assuming we are probably screwed and will have to just suck up the cost of buying another, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any wall outlet adapters that would work as a replacement.
Thanks in advance.

I would use the one in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo.../hands-best-fastest-cheapest-nexus-5-t2729066
I used it with mine and it worked fine. The main thing on the Nexus Charger is it wants 2A of current. I'd say about 80% of those you'll run across will usually output 700mA-1A far less than needed. That one above will be good and if the same accident happens again they're not that expensive to replace.
