I have decided to pull the trigger on a galaxy tab s 10.5 but don't know which model to get. I want the exynos with lte that works on at&t. Is there a model that has both the exynos and lte support for AT&T, or should I purchase the tablet directly from AT&T? Root is also a concern my note edge is AT&T and has no root in sight due to locked bootloader. I want to order the model that has it all. Any input is appreciated.
I have the T-807 on VZW and there is no root method for my tab, so I'd say avoid the T-807 if root is something important to you. The 807 (for some reason) in the fastest and smoother of those I have played with tho

Yes Amazon has the international version unlocked. Not sure why the lte version only come with 16gb, but the WiFi only version you can get in 32gb.

I have the unlocked international lte version which i imported from Hong Kong, much cheaper than Amazon. Got it from a great site called Expedite electronics.

It says uk, but they ship from HK, so dont see why they couldnt ship to the us.

Yup they only ship to the UK strangely considering the tab comes from Hong Kong. I might just settle for the T-Mobile version. I wonder if the performance is much different between the snapdragon and exynos. I really want the 32gb one but no GSM support, hopefully lollipop update comes soon enough and I can write whatever app data I want to SD card.
OK now I feel stupid, I assumed that all of the US carriers would have the snapdragon version just like all US Samsung phones, but according to T-Mobile and AT&T sites both are the exynos versions. I will be getting the T-Mobile version so bootloader will be unlocked and root/custom recovery will be easier to obtain. Thanks for the input.

Sorry. I don't know.
Hi all
In the past I’ve had to buy international variants for the best possible coverage when traveling. Even the US unlocked did not cover as much as their international unlocked counterparts.
I spend a lot of my time overseas so I’m willing to have less then ideal coverage in the united states.
I’ve tried to look up information on the bands but so far have not had much look comparing to see if I should preorder the s20 ultra unlocked in the states or just wait until I go abroad and purchase the international version in a few months when I leave again. Even if I don’t get the deals on preorder.
Which would really be a downer if there isn’t a difference and I could buy it now with all the perks of the promos.
Can anyone enlighten me on if the unlocked US version or international unlocked variant would be more suited to travel outside the States?
Or is their a difference this time?
Thanks!
I have this same question, but here is my dilemma....
The US version work have a snapdragon and a $200 credit at samsung's website for pre-orders but the international version with have the ability to be rooted. Now i have the oneplus 7 pro, with root, i am able to force 90hz refresh rate on ALL apps. If i can root the s20 ultra, i can swap in a kernel that allows 120hz at qhd on alll apps, which is pure gold in itself.
the Kong kong and Latina american variants historically have been snapdragon AND rootable so you can have the better processor wnd root.
that said there has also not been a ton of development for those particular variants which i mever understood since your getting the best of both worlds
I'm in the same boat. My current GS8+ is international variant specifically because of dual sim and root.
I'm conflicted with all the international versions not getting things like 5G vs international. I pre-ordered, I still can cancel my order...
What's the likelihood that US Unlocked version can be rooted within few months? Anyone know if they're adding additional locks to it?

It is my understanding that traditionally, US unlocked version is SiM unlocked but bootloader locked. Therefore, the likelyhood that it will be rootable in a few months will be the same as with other recent phones, next to zero.

In thos age of hacking and malware. You couldnt pay me to have a rooted phone. The only advantage was titanium backup and that only half ass works when restoring data. Not worth it.

Viper4android!
very hard choice
- Snapdragon 865 is more power efficient and more powerful ( 10 % against exynos SOC)
but forget root
- Outside US 5G networks aver very very limited
- The exynos will receive more updates
- US version has only one card sim slot

so i'm struggling with the choice too, either the SA (latin american snapdragon) or exynos .
I don't really care about development beyond TWRP and Root , not sure what to do
From what I have seen there are also various versions of the international unlocked, some are dual sim and some ha e different bands (with or without 5G).

the snap would be my choice,it will be rootable, could be already for all i know. plus the 865 is far superior to the exynos is pretty much every category.
for me the choice would be easy lol.

the Hong kong and brazil model number is just SM-G9880. no N,W Or anything else. but they both would be 865s yep.
couldnt have been the 3XL cause i didnt get one, def been awhile though. Im not on as much as I used to be...too many snowflakes lol.

its crazy.
what about the "N" Korean version? is it rootable? im debating whether to get the international one or the korean version. I want to be rooted with viper4android
yes it should be its exynos.
Korean/ international basically the same thing hardware other than possibly being capable of different network frequencies.
you cannot cross flash Korean and international firmware however if that matters
ive had lots of both and never had issues with either.

Im on att. What i wont be able to use the 5g network if i get an international verion. I might get the us verison then
I have been doing some research , was looking to get into the unlocked bootloader snapdragon models for obvious reasons..
Here are the following:
S20 Ultra - SA-G988BD Latin American Snapdragon model (should have unlocked bootloader)
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1549755-REG/samsung_sa_g988bdgr_galaxy_s20_ultra_g988b.html
Same thing for S20+ it's a model # beginning with SA.
Are these models truly bootloader unlockable, and how is development for unlockable snapdragon samsung devices?
Where should I be sourcing the purchase from?
known sellers of F\DS versions (exynos) (of all variants)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Ga...hash=item1f0b2b1cc8:m:mSdP4qhLx0dRJgKOI8ClGMw
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Ga...92:m:mo1w8WlyKXHUa-jnEGtmWjg&var=503079501845
If you know of other sellers , sources, please post em up and i'll update OP
I'd prefer to buy the snapdragon model, if i could unlock bootloader and root...
Bump
Any advice? would like to pull the trigger soon
anyone?
Ok so from what I've read and it's everywhere btw..
The Snapdragon variant does not allow bootloader unlocking. However it's probably going to be substantially faster both CPU and GPU, plus more efficient.
The exynos is going to be unlockable.
But the downside is that it's going to be slower, less efficient and if memory serves; developers hate the exynos chipset and the madness that comes with it.
Not very well optimized, but hey it's the price you pay.
If you're not in the EU then the SD is the preferred choice. As the 5G bands appear to be regionally specific, not sure if this will change in the future but from past experiences, if it doesn't exist on launch then don't assume it'll be added later..
I'm losing heart in this device and it's stupid chipset conundrum, plus the price is stratospheric, there shouldn't be a compromise, but obviously there is.
My advice if you haven't commited yet, wait for the OnePlus 8 pro, it'll have the 865, will have 120hz, wireless charging, ip68 and will be unlockable..
Unless you're in the states and your provider locks it down. In which case, get it direct. Pay it off with PayPal finance.

So i actually can't seem to find the unlockable bootloader snapdragon model anywhere, which one is it?
Any news?
Are the version SM-G9880 and SM-G988N unlockable? Or are every SD versions locked? Does someone have any information about this? I'm considering returning my Exynos version and import the SD one from WondaMobile. Either the G9880 or the G988N depending on whether they're unlockable or not.

Just a note to anyone considering the exynos chipset. They Run Hot and Battery life is Terrible! The Snapdragon is also far superior!

I'm in a non-5G country and only the LTE version will be available here. I am told there is a 256Gb dual SIM version that will be here later this month but which will therefore be Exynos. For obvious reasons I would prefer Snapdragon and I would be happy to import from somewhere else but, as far as I can see, there is no such thing as a Snapdragon with 256Gb and dual nano-SIM. Am I wrong? Does a Snapdragon 256Gb dual SIM exist?
1. 5g 128gb - snapdragon
2. 4g 128gb- exynos
3. 4g 256gb- exynos
From what I can see on Amazon, at least in Europe, the Exynos ones are dual sim.
Why do you want the snapdragon considering there is so little community development on it?

Because it is the same Exynos 990 as in the S20 range that has compared badly with the Snapdragon eg in battery life. If I have to, I will go with Exynos because it's not that bad - just not as good as Snapdragon.
I know what you mean. But hopefully the increased battery and the 1080p only display will make it less worse.
I was definitely looking at buying the snapdragon but then found out you can barely root it and it was an easy decision afterwards. I cannot live anymore without call recording, adaway and yt vanced.

You shouldn't need different FW to root your device, it's a Exynos variant. All you need to do is unlock the bootloader in Developer Options. Canadian FW's aren't compatible with Exynos variants as they're structured solely for Snapdragon variants.

It's not really clear to me what the purpose is of having different firmware's for different countries. I ordered the Exynos model from Amazon but it still works in Canada (though Samsung pay won't work and that may be related).
