Android Gestures and Custom launchers - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Just wanted to know if it is something I done wrong but when I use the android 10 gestures with any custom launcher the gestures dont work as well and the animations are kind of buggy.

Two things, in my opinion, that you did wrong; migrate to Q and use a custom launcher.
Pie and One UI are fast, stable, get good battery life* , are reasonably secure and are very customizable.
Never fix something that isn't broke... unless you want some "fun", adventure and have a lot of time to kill.

There hundreds of third party launchers for Android.
Which "custom" launcher are you using?
I use Microsoft Launcher and Samsung OneUI 2.5 gestures work fine.

I tried with Nova, Lawchair and Action Launcher.
I teste the MS Launcher and the animations are still not working link the stock launcher. I took a screenshot to show how the dock icons appears at the bottom when changing apps. Sometimes the bottom gestures stop working all together. None os theses things happen when using stock launcher.

ADW Launcher vs Launcher Pro

Can anyone tell me the pro's and con's of both launchers.. I might give them a try sometime next week..
you can try yourselve both its better than reading. ADW Launcher users tell you adw is faster beter etc and LP userr tell you the same about LP just try it.
I use adw about 1 day and I change to LP becouse I dont use all options on adw he have a lot settings Lp is easyier for me.
or try zeam very quick and low memory usage
If a launcher doesn't have touch wiz like app drawer it's useless. Hundreds of apps aren't manageable in other ways.
I choose ADW because it's more smooth when swiping between homescreens. And there's a lot of themes for this launcher, too. I have tried LP but it's not that good. It has better widgets though.
I switched to ADW, launcher pro just isn't as snappy. The app bar is a nice feature too. Launcher pro does have some nice widgets though.
Launcher PRO PLUS for the widget and popup!!!

But it does have the very cool scrolling 3D app drawer where everything is in alphabetical order. I find it much much easier.
Launcher Pro has really nice widgets. Also ADW hides the status bar on me every so often - not sure why... very annoying and makes it unusable.

This is what makes touchwiz a great launcher.
I really hope LP follows suit, I need a customizable app drawer.
btw, ts I use launcherpro, /w donated version.
The widgets that come with lp are irreplaceable
I've tried both and love that lo is capable of hiding bloatware apps. Since I'm new and not into rooting, I like that I can get crap outta my face if I don't want it!

But the fact that you can't hide icons make it horrible for me. That's a major reason I use LauncherPro, apps that already have homescreen shortcuts or that I don't use wont clutter up my app drawer.
ADW has the same feature I believe, I might try it sometime.
The actual process of organising apps in touchwiz into some reasonable order is so slow and painful that I couldn't stand to do it anyway. Alphabetical order with all the crap hidden works just fine for me.
A nice feature that was added recently to LauncherPro is changing the grid size in the homescreens. You can use that to get more fine control of your widget positions and to fit more shortcuts and widgets. You can choose whether or not to re-size the widgets according to the new grid as well.
i personally like LauncherPRO better than the rest.
it works & feels very much alike ZLauncher from PalmOS
it has all the options i was exactly looking for.
well worth the $3 for the extra features, even though i don't even use them
I use LP plus.
I´ve used the option to hide stuff that I install, and insted have a folder for games and one for tools on my home screen. means that the app window wont get cluttered up.
Both are really good and I won't say one's better than the other.
I've always used ADW since I owned the Magic and the launch of the Galaxy, and in that time I've flirted with LP but alwys went back to ADW, however, last week I tried LP again and I've stuck with it this time.
Basically I can't choose between both but I'm extremely happy using either, try both and make your choice.

hi
what you can do is :
creat folders on the last home screen for exemple.
lets say a games folder : stick all your games in it, and go to LP settings, take the link for the game apps you put in that folder and hide them so they dont apear any where else.
i dont know about adw but LP has scrollable widget possibilities and combined to some market aps it really is neat.
as usual its allways a question of personal preference.

your disappearing dockbar is probably due to you pressing the app drawer and swiping upwards. Just go to ADW settings and disable the dockbar. This dockbar is a relatively new feature that enables you to have 2 dockbars (something similar to the scrolling LP dockbar).
ADW has a custom groups feature in its app drawer so you can select what apps you want to see. Unfortunately you can only view one group at a time, but its definitely a much better way of organising your apps than just in alphabetical order. And you can hide apps easily this way too. I really like ADW's swipe actions on home screens as well, last time I tried LP it didnt have this option.
Despite all the features of ADW, Launcher Pro feels just way snappier. Its customisation settings are well enough. The widgets are good too.
Too bad it's not open source like ADW. A may goto ADW when the animations are made smoother.

What's your favorite launcher and why?

Just trying to start a discussion on what launcher people are using and why they like them as apposed to others. This thread would be useful for many who are trying to decide what launcher to use or switch to. I know that people can and should try them out for themselves however there are MANY launchers out there and it would be nice for folks to read this thread and get an idea where to start. So who's first?

Nova. Always works for me and I can restore my icon layout. Makes switching Roms take all of 10 min

I like Nova Prime with the Missed It! add on. It adds notification counts to the icons you specify. Like messages and mail for me. It's nice to see a little bubble on the icon.
Nova Launcher for me too, I have downloaded a few ut always go back to Nova, simply for the gestures and the stability of it. Action Launcher is good but lacks a lot of customisation.
I like Go. Folders in app draw, transparent Nav and status bar support.
I've used Apex launcher for a while because it is very clean and fast with a lot of customization options.
Nova is my favorite... Fast and Stable.
I'm in the minority with this but I like stock.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Tried Nova, ADW, Go, Apex, Holo, and of course Stock
For now, Nova is the best IMO. Stock comes in the 2nd.
I don't believe in a favorite launcher. I believe they all of them are pretty much equal with each of them to their own uniqueness. It's more of favoritism.
I personally used Apex Launcher and switched to Nova because Nova Launcher Prime was on sale for <$1 so I switched. It also made it very easy to do because it imported my widgets and apps on home screens within one click.
Nova Launcher & Apex are both great choices. Can't go wrong with either or............ or you can use Trebuchet (CM's Launcher). Keep in mind if you use Nova Launcher, update to the latest beta!!! it helps, uses 4.2 launcher code
nova prime is my favorite. there's so much customizability, which makes it perfect for themeing. very fast and stable too. i want to get familiar with either ADW or Apex so I can toggle between themes very fast. Launcher8 has some potential too, but as of now its just too laggy.
Used ADW for a while... then switched to Nova. Nova restoring the widgets is a great feature when playing with multiple Rome.

Ok, bit different but...
TSF Shell ..it's like butter even on my old Snapdragon 3 based phone
Next launcher.. new but good, desktop/home screens not quite as smooth as TSF
SPB 3d shell ..love it
someone make a poll! i bet over 50% of us, use nova launcher(prime)
is there beta version of Prime nova launcher optimized for JB4.21? or thats only for the NON prime version

nova settings - check for update - stack icon at the top right use beta
I use Apex Launcher
It is very near to stock, but still very customizable.
I also like the groups in the drawer, the reseizing of widgets to every size (which is sometimes ridicolous, but in some cases very useful) and the ability to hide the dock (that i dont need anymore because of GMD Gesture Control)
I've also tried some other launchers like Nova and Action Launcher (Really cool, too, but not as customizable as Apex) but at least I stayed at Apex.
Nova, but Apex very close
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Used to be almost 100% Nova, but now I have been using Action Launcher.
It is different from the other launchers and I quite like the way the App Drawer is implemented.
And the "Covers" setting is brilliant, for me this makes it worthwhile!!

Nova launcher and touchwiz features

Hello,
I'm thinking about changinch touchwiz on my samsung, I was thinking about nova launcher or Apex. I have several questions:
a) how about performance? Is it better with different launcher?
b) will some of feature of touchwizz remians, for example Smart Stay, SMS/Dial swipe or taskmanager?
c) will it be possible to revert to touchwizz without flashing rom?
regards

Just download and install each launcher, you can have all 3 installed at the same time. Just make sure you don't select "Always" when you click the home button before you have made a decision of which homescreen you want to use.
I like Apex, it works awesome has ICS look like screen, has transitions so you can cube in and out between homescreens .. adds some pizazz and makes iphone users jealous
set them all up, play between them, decide which one you like the best and stick with it.
I personally use Apex (free version still) and have removed Trebuchet completely. In Apex holding down on the icons you can rename them move them, easy to create/add widgets and resize.
I've used Nova before but just like Apex better overall.
How about samsung stock applications and features? Like muting after flipping phone etc? I won't lie, the only thing I'm missing is the possibility of resizing widgets and customization of status bar. If only it was available on stock firmware

Pie ROM with overview dock and custom sort app drawer?

I've always used Nova for the tabs/sorting in the app drawer but since pie has been released, I switched back to the pixel launcher because gestures just aren't the same using Nova.
I'm still missing that app drawer customization of Nova though.
Does anyone know of a process (custom ROM/root/module) that will allow the best of both worlds? Or a module that will permit the pie gestures to work with Nova? Ideally with the dock in overview.
I haven't rooted or flashed anything on a phone in several years so I'm not sure what's possible.
Thanks.

Question Navigation gestures with 3rd party launcher

Hi Community,
I'm switching from Xiaomi back to Samsung and wanted to ask whether the issue with full screen gestures not being able to be applied when using a 3rd party launcher also exists in One UI.
I appreciate a quick reply
Best greetz!
Full screen gestures works with other launchers. But there is a problem with task switching animations.
It feels a bit sluggish compared to oneui launcher.
I'm personally using oneui launcher just bcoz of this prob.
Try Nova Launcher 8.0.2
3rd party launcher always have the problem with gestures, it works yeah, but the transitions are laggy or Just dont do it.
I always back to stock launcher if you want customize use Goodlock
