since the update for joyeuse (global) MIUI12(V12.0.1.0.QJZMIXM) was released recently, here are the issues users reported in various forums. i'm waiting to get good idea of what i'm getting/updating into.
issues reported so far;
Widevine keeps downgrading to L3, rebooting makes it back to L1 but only temporarily.
Share->Copy to clipboard has been removed
Pip on fullscreen gestures does not work
MIUI12 screenshots are really dim
MIUI12 removed the feature to manually delete cache.
low volume sound recording (ie; snapchat, instagram, whatsapp voice recording, etc.)
missing video modes (FPS rates) in stock camera video
what are the issue you have run into
i dont use any of the features you have mentioned, but my notifications led still does not work, for calls messages email etc, only come on when charging the phone.

seems so, i was hoping miui 12 would fix the problem, problem is? if i return it and they send me another
it might have the same problem, so round and round, bad batch maybe.. i dont know.
Screenshots are fine here.
Think I did have this issue initially, but I think it was disabling of the two "adjust" options under dark mode settings, that fixed it, (as well as the dim wallpaper).

Nope, I won't do that as I'm not that nice.
But here's a screenshot to illustrate the settings.
Try it for yourself and it'll either work or it won't.
Touch and hold a notification will show you an option to disable ALL the notifications of the app instead of just the notification category
I downgraded to miui 11! miui 12's app switching animation is laggy, the gesture isn't that great and doesn't work all the time. MIUI 11 has better gesture implementation than 12. If they don't fix the navigation gesture then I'm not updating to miui 12.?
i did finally upgrade to MIUI 12 day before yesterday. i dont use most of the aforementioned problematic features. biggest gain has been the floating windows, which is buggy but not unusable. cosmetically speaking, i dont find the animations are laggy (could be because i've been having animation rates set fastest from day one), but hate what they have done with notification drop-down. i used to use stock android styled notification drop-down which was to me very close to vanilla android 10 style. but with the upgrade both MIUI and android styled drop-down are the same (and ugly with mismatched text sizes within) with only difference being stock styled one using stock notification icons.
Curtana or Joyeuse
My update to MIUI 12 "broke" my work profile.
The apps still appear to work, but the option to switch it off in the notifications area is gone and the apps that were in the work profile are in a zombie land with no work profile playstore to update them, etc.
A bit disappointing for a phone marketed as a work phone
Updated the phone the day before yesterday and don't seem to have any of the problems mentioned above.. Tjhe animations are fluid and some of the bugs i had in miui 11 are now fixed.

I downgraded to 11 literally less than 2 days in. I felt the animations were noticeably laggy not only in the app switching but everywhere else. I couldn't find the option to disable animations in developer options which looks like a deliberate attempt by xiaomi to force the animations on us despite them being too over the top. I'm sure the SoC can handle the animations smoothly but xiaomi couldn't be bothered to optimize them.
Another letdown on miui 12 is terrible ram management. I couldn't even get my browser to stay in memory with just 5 tabs open. The rom was killing virtually every app that I had opened and the funny part is that ram usage wasn't even decreasing.
The dark mode bug is also very annoying when you're searching for contacts.
There arw so many things wrong with miui 12 on curtana that I'll happily wait 3 or more months before even trying it again.

you can disable animation in miui 12!
maybe I'll switch to aosp based rom.. I feel like getting tortured by miui. I frequently switch between apps but with 6gb ram sometimes apps take 1-2sec to reload on miui. ?

MIUI 11 is quite okay with RAM management. App switching on my 6GB phone is a breeze. It's MIUI 12 that can't multitask to save its own life.
How do you disable animations in miui 12? One of the things I didn't like about the animations is that they are very tiresome to look at after a while (They start to become disorienting). Xiaomi tried to copy iOS but they failed big time IMO. iPhone animations are butter smooth. They're a joy to look at.
Have you tried MiuiMix? I frequently see people say that it's better than MIUI eu which is an excellent rom to begin with. I'll try MiuiMix 11 next and see how it performs. I won't go back to MIUI 12 until after mid January when they'll be releasing version 12.0.4.

English:
It is literally a shame how MIUI 12 works on the REDMI NOTE 9 AND 9 PRO ...
A SHAME!!!!!
The RAM management is a disaster, everything hangs, it works terribly bad, I had to go back to MIUI 11 because of how bad it works (thank goodness that this can be done officially). If not, I don't know what I'd do, I'd be throwing it away.
Updated on the same day I got it.
Won't really know the full miui11 experience but I used it for a few hours. The system might have had a few bugs after update but with release of system launcher update a few days ago, miui12 is very smooth in note 9 pro
Is there any fix for netflix L3? Clearing app data doesnt help, nor does reboot.

Hey guys,
Just wanted to know which rom you are using and the reason behind it.
I am using xiaomi.eu 10.2 stable, I am basically using it because of stability. I previously used pixel experience for a while, it was a bit of a hassle to boot it up.Since the dev was inactive and the rom had some bugs I had to use miui which I am not a big fan of.
The goal of this discussion is to find out if anyone is using stock android like roms without any issues.
Thanks

I have the Chinese device, with the Chinese developer vendor image. Installation was just the usual, flash vendor image, flash rom, format data, flash Magisk.
Stock global, because I think MIUI is cool, and I bought this phone for that.

That's about where I was, other than the notification nightmare which made it close to unusable for me. I just couldn't see the point, my conclusion being it's designed for people who like themes, which aren't my cup of tea.
Yeah notifications are a disaster. I thought MIUI was cool and I have all the pixel XL devices too, so I have choices.

There are a couple apps for which I get notifications but no sound, most notably Google Keep and Settle Up. Other than that, I don't have major issue with notifications since 10.2 update.
Stock Chinese ROM with Nova Launcher Prime for me. I like the lack of Google trash, like Chrome, not being needed to use and access the Play Store. Literally the most bloat-free experience after uninstalling the Chinese bloat that isn't needed.
Dev eu rom. Since the first release. Happy with it. No problem at all.
Cn device with global Rom, I like MIUI battery management last all day with heavy use.
Xiaomi.eu weekly with Nova prime on top.
I really like it and notifications work fine it is just a little bit annoying that you have to set app specific settings for them to work properly though.
Guys what's the notification issue you're talking about?
Im on global miui too but i dont know exactly what it is?

Which messaging app are you using? For me, I could never get notifications to work properly with Google Messages, and with the native Messages app, group messaging didn't work, nor does it have a desktop interface. This may have improved with the more recent releases, but Pixel Experience was so good I have no need to bother trying MIUI again (the other big thing it was missing is the smart unlock functionality).

Fluid navigation app does the same as the miui ones
So in the Samsung official s9 forum there are thread after threads of people complaining about the new 'downgrade' to Pie One Ui mainly about the camera features being removed,
Shutter button zoom removed
Separate Video and shutter buttons removed
Pro video settings removed
Selective focus is now useless (s9)
Selfie Camera default view is too close so effects all apps that use selfie camera.
The ugly iPhone look of the overall camera software.
Battery life is down quite a bit although I've been told that the may update fixes this at last.
There are a few other features missing or changed that i personally don't use.
I personally love the new ONEui especially combined with Samsungs one handed operation + app using gestures.
The weird thing is I'm not hearing any complaints in the s9 xda forums about the upgrade/downgrade to Pie.
Are you all happy with your phone's from Oreo to Pie ?
Personally I think they have lowered the quality of the camera to make their S10 phones look superior but that probs me having a tin hat moment
I had my S9 for all of about 2 hours - about the time it took to transfer from a screen-busted S8 to the replacement S9 a couple months ago - before the update to Pie occurred.
I've had no problems or issues with it. And I've had the S8 for just under a year and half so I went through its update from Nougat to Oreo.
I don't know what issues there are with "selective focus". It seems to work fine for me.
Now, I have disabled as much of Bixby as I can (deleted the Google app and removed that search bar too - completely useless for me). Changed the launcher to Nova Launcher which can remove those goofy rounded icon frames, using the BlackBerry Hub Suite of apps for all the IM stuff, even using the BlackBerry Virtual keyboard which I like better than the stock or any SwiftKey keyboard.
I honestly don't understand the complaints towards Pie. It's not all that different from Oreo, and I love the native dark theme.
I personally don't like the update to pie. Battery life is definitely worse, the wifi signal is worse (I tested it between the S5 and S7 and the S9 was the worst). I don't like the UI at all, reminds me of an iPhone. About the only thing I do like is the My files app. It's cleaner and easier to use and navigate.

You have nothing to compare it to then, Oreo was 100x better which is why people are a bit disappointed. And I have to say your setup sounds absolutely awful ?

You missed my line about having the S8 for almost a year and a half, during which time it updated from Nougat to Oreo. So, yes, I can definitely compare with Oreo, since I had it for about a year.
And, except for some shifting around of elements, I find it to be basically the same. I had no problems finding what I need anywhere within the revamped UI.
And, my setup works perfect for me and is absolutely wonderful. You can't say otherwise without trying it yourself
I know that features in camera like pro video, zoom using the shutter button, taking 3 pictures when setting a timer, motion panorama... are removed, but the ui isn't ugly, I actually liked it better than oreo.
Selective focus is a bit improved after software updates, but the blur effect isn't as stong as in oreo.
Battery life isn't too much worse, I think the first month I upgraded to one UI, it was very bad, but it has improved after learning my usage patterns...
Heat is noticeably improved since when I was on oreo my phone was a little too warm all the time, but now it's normal, even available RAM is higher, I have 1.4~1.6 GB free now, compared to 1~1.2 GB in oreo.
When it comes to animations, I find less frame drops with one UI. And I didn't experience any kind of major lag since I got the phone so no worries here.
The whole UI looks better for me, it's cleaner and easier to use, I've not changed any launcher, keyboard, or even themes, everything is stock. And I can safely say that one UI is overall better than oreo, unless you care about the missing camera features.
I am absolutely gutted about the camera software, but I do love the one UI and I just got the May update which is supposed to fix the battery problems.
I hate it that they removed the recent long press to multitask, i mean why would samsung remove such simple usefull feature?

Just go to settings>display>adaptive brightness and reset usage patterns. Then adjust it the way you want in each situation so it adapts to your adjustments...
This is the problem, it keeps cocking up, I reset usage and it's alright for a bit then it's drops to 0 brighteners so I move it to how I would like it and it'll be ok but then I go outside and the brightness doesn't increase so I adjust again for that and on we go because now auto brightness isn't doing anything and I'm constantly changing the brightness in the same brightness I've already set up, I reset again and all is ok for a while and then it starts again.
I'm going to wipe cache partition and reset brightness patterns and see how it goes.

My battery is just the same after may update. Absolute garbage
Just downloaded and installed OTA 10.3.3 on my Mi 9 SE.
Been looking forward to this update because I had read that the app drawer was being "enabled". The only thing I really hate about MIUI 10 is having my apps all over the place.
But.....I am seeing no settings for enabling the app drawer. I see I now have 2 grid size options but see no options for app drawer anywhere.
Anybody else have experience with this?
Can u please try permanent notifications? Thanks...
Downloading the update. Will post any new noticeable features here not mentioned in the changelog. :fingers-crossed:
No permanent notifications still, sad.
1080p 60 fps is enabled now.
The panorama selfie feature doesnt seem to work.
Phone feels a bit more responsive and fast.

Guys be aware that people on reddit have reported this updated changed the back gesture range to full length on the sides, meaning they work as back gesture even at the top of the screen, very annoying to people who want to preserve the top 1/3 for app menus
Yep, the navigation gesture goes all the way up as others have mentioned. However, I noticed that lawnchair now works properly with gesture navigation so it's a worthy trade-off for now imo until they fix it.
Everything feels very snappy.

For me when I would go to long press swipe up gesture for recents, it would also flip the app drawer up. It didn't really integrate with the home launcher like it did with the OOS launcher. I tried multiple versions, beta, non beta etc.
If I remember correctly there was issues on pixel with third party launchers on gestures when they first came out as well.
Hey where can i download the global version ? I went and updated through Oxygen Updater but then i guess is the indian version? idk but i lost Dolby Atmos functionality and there's no longer any equalizer.
Green tint issue after updating :/ kind of a bummer tho, can anyone else confirm this?

Oke... After re flashing the rom i got the options back. Thanks
Yeah folks we got the MIUI 14. If anyone has any experience regarding the performance and battery life feel free to share. I am thinking about rooting this phone so I am going to wait out a bit.
Same battery experience. Better and more smooth performance for me. Nice update but as always xiaomi cut functions for global roms. Hate it.
If you wanna all features of miui14, you should install CN ROM or customs like xiaomieu etc.
I am on Xiaomi.eu. 14.0.8. Overall smoother. Can recommend. Thought about switching to tw firmware. Is it also cut like the other regional releases?

The latest features are on the CN versions first.
Install a XIAOMI EU rom weekly.

On the CN versions ONLY.
On global roms there is no fonts from miui 12.5, no widgets from 13, no big icons from 14.
Anyone noticed any problems with the notifications? Even for apps with no battery restrictions, sometimes I might not get the notifications instantly when the screen is off, but as soon as I turn it on I get them it bulk.

Thanks but that is already on. It is weird it happens from time to time tough to see what causes it. It's not all the time.

What about ambient display and screen lock/notification effect?
If AOD check that notifications are activated on the theme.

Yeah everything is active, I mean this happens even when I am on the phone. Say I am playing a game or whatever and I don't get any notifications from instagram. But when I open instagram all notufications pop up at once. Noticed today that this problem persists.
