Unlocked ATT s20 to Samsung Firmware - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hi all. Hope this is in the correct thread. Have been reading through this thread and other areas to get some info. Hopefully someone can help me out. Ill give you just some details. S20 plus on ATT. (G986U) Was stuck on July update and ATT was no help. So had it unlocked. Last night I flashed Samsung firmware. G986U1UES1BTIG. (G986U1) (USA ATT). Well since then I have no 5G or wifi calling of course. It boots up to ATT screen and still has all the bloatware. Spent over an hour on phone with ATT today. I told them exactly what I did. The rep from the "advanced" technical team said that the flashing of Samsung firmware or that it is now unlocked has nothing to do with it lol. The weird thing is when I reboot it shows 5G for a few seconds and then back to LTE.
I assume thats to be expected? There is nothing to flash to somehow get the 5G and wifi calling back? I see some mention about the userdata file. Not really sure what that is or if its even available for my phone. And if it would even work. Thank you for any advice or info.

T-Mobile Firmware on Verizon S8+?

So I just switched to T-Mobile from Verizon and kept my Galaxy S8+. Obviously, I cannot do the system updates through the phone anymore. Therefore, I wanted to know if there is a way to flash the T-Mobile firmware so I can operate the phone as if T-Mobile issued it.
If that is not possible, any suggestions?
Thanks!!!!
I'm sure this is a good place to start. Please research and read through good before proceeding. I almost screwed up my phone going from Verizon to unlocked.

I switched to AT&T on my Version S8 plus. I just updated to the latest Version update by taking out the sim card, turning on Airplane mode and connecting to wifi. This allowed me to take the update.
I'm sure you can flash to another carrier's firmware. Take a look here:

Can all USA Galaxy S9 models be flashed to each other's firmware?

I've read that the Galaxy S9 hardware is identical for all carriers in the USA.
If I bought a factory unlocked Galaxy S9 can I flash it to the carrier I am using (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T) to enable carrier specific software and features? Can I flash it back to the unlocked firmware?
I already see a thread about flashing the unlocked firmware to carrier models so I am assuming there are no issues there.
Can one carrier model be flashed to another carrier model?
No, bootloaders are different, with the S7 there was an unbranded U firmware that was compatible with most of them, unlocked firmware will be that one for the S9, but no you cannot just flash different device firmwares to the wrong model
I was able to flash the ATT rom onto my Verizon S9. I got a VZ s9 from work but I'm on ATT. For the most part it's worked great, I had done the same thing previously with a Galaxy S7. I say for the most part b/c I am on here tonight to post a question myself about the fact that I'm getting a delay with MMS messages. I imagine it has something to do with the APNs I have setup, but I can't seem to figure it out.

Did you have to flash to the U1 software first?
I do think that is what I ended up doing... tried to go directly first and it kept failing. Got fed up and decided to just try and put the bone stock rom on it, and that went on really easily.... so after using it like that a few days I tried to drop the ATT rom on it and it worked without issue.

Yes, but you need to go to the u1 firmware 1st then to the other carrier firmware. Also make sure you avoid the newer firmwares with the new bootloader, as the unlocked model and certain carrier models don't have the new bootloader.

That'll be why I still thought that then, coming straight from the S7 > S9
Had many members flashing the wrong firmwares thinking they could do that and bricking their S7s / wondering why ODIN failed

I tried downloading vzw firmware G960USQS3ARI6 to my unlocked sprint s9 and still not vzw flashed. want to do this so can have voice over LTE. Any other steps im missing? flash went through but still sprint
As soon as Firmware ver. 3 came out for the G960U1, I was able to flash it to my Sprint G960U and finally have VoLTE, WiFi calling and stable LTE for MetroPCS. Used samkey to unlock it from Sprint. My phone is actually performing much faster without all of Sprint's bloatware hogging my RAM and storage space. I can confirm that OTA updates still work the same...I received September's security patch (current) with no problems. Device is still official status and Knox hasn't been tripped.
A lot of people think you can just flash the carrier firmware of your choice and boom, it works...I had the same thought process....that's not the case. You have to make sure that there is a matching firmware version for the carrier you want to flash to, as well as make sure the G960U1 firmware version (the unlocked version of the S9's software you have to flash first before even carrier flashing) is the same version of what is installed on your phone now. It's easy ya'll......just READ lol.
I'm in love with my phone again thanks to XDA. ?
HAPPY FLASHING!

Hi, I got one unlocked G960U1(G960U1UES3ARI1) and downloaded new fireware(G960U1UES3ARI1-SPR) from sammobile, but after flashed SPR ROM successfully, the info on the phone still shows XAA, anything I missed here? Thanks!

Well first off, you have the unlocked phone. I don't. My G960U is originally from Sprint, so I'm not sure about carrier flashing regarding the G960U1. I thought it was supposed to provision itself after you put the sim in, and the associated carrier apps will download since it's the unlocked model...but I may be wrong...

I know so many people have already answered your question from some saying No to others saying Yes but you need to Install U1 first and Bla Bla Bla.
I want to give you one specific answer: With S9 you can any Carriers firmware you wish or even Unlocked phone's firmware. You will never have any issue. And you don't ever need to flash U1 or something else before changing carrier firmware you can Flash from ATT S9 firmware to VZW S9 firmware without any issue. You can also flash from U to U1 which is from Carrier specific to Unbranded/Unlocked but only hiccup is original Odin will give you SHA-256 error, which is normal because you are flashing U1 firm to U device or vice versa. This error can easily be resolved by used Patched odin that disabled SHA-256 check. And trust me you will never have any issue.
You will never want to do this but I have gone as far as mix-matching U and U1 firmware together as well. Like flashing AP, BL and CP of U device but flashing CSC of U1 device. and it still works.
hey there, a little late to the party, having trouble with going from a Verizon to a Sprint, even by way of U1. I can't get any of them to work. And I've been told I have to go from VZW to U1 before I went to Sprint. Is that not the case? I'm having a hell of a time getting anything to flash, everything fails.

well, I tried to load the Sprint image from the VZW, no dice. It said it passed, but upon reboot loaded up the old Big Red (even with the Sprint SIM in it).
Anyone have any ideas? This is driving me insane....

Possible to change n975ui to n975u?

I flashed att firmware on an unlocked note 10 plus but att still sees it as an unlocked phone. Is it possible to change the phone to completey read as an attvbranded model? I called to see if they could provision the IMEI of my phone and they were able to tell right away it was not one of theirs, even though it was running att firmware.

No, because (as you found out) the IMEI number is not from an AT&T branded phone.

I have a GOOGLE unlocked phone. I flashed N975U firmware on my phone and also flashed ATT USER DATA at the same time.. When my phone booted up - it had all of the ATT BLOAT that comes on an Att phone - it booted up with the ATT LOGO - it shows ATT ICONS in the Status Bar for Data (5GE instead of showing LTE or 4G) and I have Wifi Calling and Video Calling working on my phone...
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=301224
That is all it took. I didn't have to call ATT - It all just worked - and it was not working that way BEFORE I flased Userdata.
YMMV but I have heard about others who had the same experience. Go tot he N975U Firmware thread and find the download for ATT USERDATA - That is where I found it....
Hope that helps you.....
Pixel and iPhones are supposedly able to do those things. I think that may be why it worked for you

Wish it was possible, but unfortunately no way exists.
If you have WiFi Callling, Video Calling and Volte working, why does it matter if ATT recognizes your phone as one of theirs or not? Just curious about what you are trying to accomplish ?

t-mobile firmware help

Hi, my G981A is US, Tmobile carrier. It crashed on me yesterday, is caught in a boot loops, and I am trying to restore it. I have found the Odin software and am able to get it to recognize my device, however, I am unable to find the Tmobile firmware, only AT&T. Does anyone know where the T-mobile firmware might be found? Device is paid off, so I think it is unlocked. Am a bit of a novice at this...just trying not to have to get a new phone if this one can be brought back to life.
Phone is exclusive for AT&T. Yes you can have it unlocked and it will work with other GSM carriers, but there are no Tmobile/Sprint/Verizon variants.

Former Verizon S9 to Straight Talk help please?

Hey guys I havnt been on here in a long time had to make a new name, couldnt remember my old name. Anyway I have been researching non stop and I am still confuesed on what firmware file I need to download....
So here is my problem. I just bought a very nice s9 off my boss. he has had it on verizon for years. he upgraded to the s22 so i bought his old phone for $100. We called verizon and had the sim card unlocked. I restarted the phone and installed the sim card out of my Blu View 3 running on Straight Talk...Phone said new Sim need to restart the phone, so I did. Once it was back on everything appeared to be fine such as the phone having my phone number in the about phone section and I was able to make calls. The problem is that my data will not work...No internet. So I began researching and found out that I need to flash the firmware from G960U to G960U1...This is where I get confused...I was unsure If I am supposed to flash a Verizon version of the firmware since the phone is verizon, Or am i supposed to flash a tracphone varriet? I researched more and I think I am supposed to flash the XAA CSC one so that it wont have any carrier info on it and i think then insert my straight talk sim and it should be good??? idk. So I was searching for the XAA firmware download which i think is supposed to look something like G960U1UEU......But I cannot find the one with the correct bootloader version I think it is? In my S9 for build number it says G960USQU9FVB2. So am I right in thinking that i need the firmware to have a 9 in it? Can someone please guide me in the right direction please...I feel lost...
47 views and 0 replies...You guys made me feel right at home here. lmao, thank you those of you that helped. I decided ****IT and went YOLO. ODIN = PASS. I flashed the USA Unbranded XAA SMG906U1UEU9FVA1. Everything is running fine and works perfect. Thanks again FAM lol
