Ceetainly in some instances, but definitely not in this case. Myself and many others have thoroughly torn this code apart, looking specifically for any security exploits, malware or other malicious code. There are none of the above. As the OP correctly noted, this ROM has been built from AOSP & LineageOS source code. I've used Mokee for years on a number of Android devices and can assure you my data or personal information has never been compromised. Mokee has been my daily driver ROM many times. You raise a very good point. But in this case, I can confirm with 100% certainty that this ROM is safe -- it has no known security exploits and has a current Android security patch level. The Chinese Android ROMs you need to be suspicious of are the ROMs built specifically for the purpose of smartphones, wearables and tablets that are to be used by consumers in North America. Mokee is no such ROM, nor is FlymeOS. Both of these custom ROMs are widely used by the Chinese themselves. If I am wrong on this, please provide examples of the malicious or otherwise questionable source code to which you refer. You're definitely not wrong to be suspicious of the Chinese when it comes to mobile devices and custom ROMs. Fortunately, your concerns get a waiver in this instance. @00p513, I want to take a moment and thank you for your outstanding work. You are a huge contributor here on the device forum, and your work is truly appreciated by many CHANNEL owners.

Thank you for trying my ROMS! With regards to MoKee and its privacy, I can not comment. It is mostly a kang of lineage os, however I decided to build because freedom of choice is important to me. No one is forcing anyone to use mokee, /e/, or any other roms which may be or may not be controversial.

Indeed. And that's a very honest answer. In years of using Mokee I've never been able to find a security exploit or backdoor implemented by Chinese developers. It is undoubtedly just as secure as LineageOS in terms of its code base. Again, I commend your work on building for the Moto G7 Play. Your Mokee ROM and other custom ROMs you've built are responsive, smooth and quite stable. I felt the need to elaborate on my experience with Mokee and to state that to the best of my knowledge, belief and information, Mokee is completely safe. I'm also loving your crDroid build for the CHANNEL.

Yeah I recall now that Slim ROM is a deprecated project. And I had completely forgotten that Omni was closed source. What are some custom ROM projects that are open source and not too difficult to work with? Is Dirty Unicorns still around by any chance, or the Android Open Kang Project (AOKP)? Or maybe AOSP-Extended or Bootleggers ROM.
In any event, your Mokee, crDroid and /e/ ROMs are absolutely great. Luckily, this CHANNEL device has gained a decent amount of development support. Devs like yourself, @Spaceminer, @PoochyX and many others have dedicated time and effort to make contributions like this to the community.

About
MoKee OpenSource is based on the Google AOSP. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.
A small group of people from around the world who are interested in Android launched this project on the 12th of December 2012, and is committed to make this ROM better and better. Like most contributors of open source projects (Omni, CyanogenMod, Slim AOSPA etc), we are doing all these in our free time as our passion…
Since this project is open source, anyone interested can participate in the development (maintain new devices, contribute code etc). Newcomers are always welcomed!

Actually OP doesn't seem to be part of Jesse's team.
Jesse and his team are the original developers of RR for S7 & S7e and ported it to our device(s).
I don't understand why OP created this ROM and registered as Official WITHOUT Jesse's permission as he used his SRC.
Couple of questions here:
What exactly are the differences between this and Jesse's Resurrection work?
How exactly did you get official status? Anywhere this can be seen from an official RR website or something?
What changes do you intend to bring to this besides the ones already present?
Hoping this isnt just an attempt at fishing for "thanks" at the expense of others. No offense but It just seems like thats the case since the original dev team had no clue this was going on.
Fake
Hmmmm very suspect, where is the official of this on RR site instead of just an AFH link and why arent you found on any of the original dev's sites/chats?
for all those that asked, I'm not just a "thanks" hunter
here is my submission, that has been approved, as a official maintainer
https://github.com/ResurrectionRemix/Resurrection_packages_apps_Settings/pull/724
https://github.com/ResurrectionRemi...mmit/727b7c851110e12deabdef5e39a389ae6064b903
as you can all see I've included the "thank you" post and added the official contributors list to my OP
builds on official RR download page will appear as soon as the source are uploaded to RR build server
currently I've just uploaded first build to AFH to be able to flash and test out
also if someone wants this down, I will be more then happy to take the forum down
Flashed, for now it's same as Jesec build with same ups and downs.
Thank you!

This is fair as you gave credit to the contributors. But, why didn't you cooperate with them? They know nothing about you!
Also, they are highly professional coders, they made the device tree from nothing!!! As a user, I prefer to still use the unofficial version as it is maintained by the creators of the device tree.
If you are serious about the project, what are the additions that you are planning to add to it? what bugs are you planning to solve?
Giving credits is good, but not enough to prove that you are the right person to maintain the project.
Cheers!

We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Forced auto-reboots on setup should say it all.
edit: even skipping gapps means forced reboots so either the kernel is borked or something else is amiss.

I had pico along with just the WEEKLY for trial and error and no luck so far. 41.2.A.2.199 was the latest before I went over, running alongside twrp-3.1.1-20170524 from AdrianDC. Kinda hard to get logcat going when I can't even use the phone for more than 5 seconds at best . I've had no issues running either AOSP builds we have here either.

Ant+ is not supported by AOSP. We're working on adding it, but currently lack actual devices to test Ant+ with.
General info: I moved the weekly to tomorrow. I'll rework the devicetrees on top of the new 4.4 kernel today, and will try to reproduce the issues y'all experiences once again.

Is not it should be updated, and now this version of the camera upside down, after the pixel only 15mp
Since it isn't in the OP and I couldn't find the information in a quick search, does it make a difference with the F8131 vs F8132, or does this ROM work with both?

I suppose I asked the wrong question. Which one has it been tested on? The F8131 seems to only be available in the US, which is why I was wondering if it was the one being targeted, or if you were developing/testing on the F8132.

CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash!
Support:
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
We recommend MindTheGApps. OpenGApps should work, but please make sure you clearly mention the gapps you're using when reporting bugs.

Encryption: This device has full support for FBE encryption and I will only provide support for encrypted devices. If your device isn't encrypted, most likely the no-verity ZIP designed for OOS O will work for you, but if it doesn't - I can't fix or help that.
Firmware: Weekly build from April 5 requires ob7 firmware.
If updating from Nougat: Please back up your data off the device. Most likely you won't be able to upgrade directly from N. OnePlus used different encryption blobs in N vs O so for the best experience, I'd recommend you flash OOS and then flash Carbon. If you're already on O builds of another ROM that supports encryption, you should be fine not to go to OOS in between.
No support will be provided if you're flashing custom kernels, magisk, audio mods etc. If you experience issues, please eliminate those things first to make sure they aren't causing your issues.

My favorite is finally here! It's rock solid! My new daily driver! So far I haven't encountered any problems. :good: Thumbs up!
Thanks for the ROM it's very smooth!
Are you planning on adding back the wakelock blocking at the kernel level? I noticed it was present previously on adinkwok's thread but not in this build.
Either way very interested in the development and ethos of your builds so would greatly be interested in anything you have to share :good:

Switched to modpunk's kernel due to build failure, difference should be unnoticeable

Initial release

Bugs
CAMERA: Enabling stabilization option in camera settings under "Video camera" causes an error message and crash when attempting to record.
[*]APP: Gardenscapes connection error on all yoshino devices. Enable storage permissions for app manually.
CAMERA: Manual focus by tapping while zoomed in crashes the app.
All of these issues are present on modpunk's latest LineageOS build. I'm not a programmer, so please be patient while the issues are resolved!
Nice! Been hoping for a Carbon ROM build for the xz1c. Just flashed and looking good so far. Thanks so much!
I installed it. So far everything is working for me. Will you continue to compile new versions, especially if new patches arrive?

I shared my initial version with the intention of releasing new versions.
However, my only practical platforms for compiling my builds on are my laptop, which takes 6 hours to build everything without having compiled anything else and gives me only 20GB of free storage space after building, and Google Cloud Trial which is just a trial, and so it has a limit.
As long as I have access to a build server, new builds will be released for at least a while.
New build! No device-specific bug fixes just upstream changes and a kernel switch
Going on vacation so no builds until around mid-August. Sorry!
While you guys wait, I recommend installing AOSP Phh-Treble with a DRM fix, Magisk, and SELinux permissive patch. The included camera won't work, but Open Camera does and the quality will be as good as stock despite being AOSP.
Also runs noticeably smoother than other AOSP roms like AOSP compiled directly from sonyxperiadev, pretty ironic considering that Treble GSIs aren't tailored to device-specific level.

How did you manage that? I was on Stock rom booted into TWRP. There I did a factory reset and wiped System, Cache, dalvik and data. Then I flashed the System Image from treble project the A partition one vanille Android but it didnt boot. Am I forgetting something?
EDIT: Fixed it. You should not use a Magisk patched ramdisk before flashing or use a patched kernel. A flash after coming from a fresh stock rom worked.
weeklies.....lol....you managed to build 2 !! builds and for about 4 weeks there´s nothing new.....
very interresting that new projects die within 2 weeks *sad*

I'm sorry for not committing to this project, but shouldn't you be grateful that I built CarbonROM for lilac and shared it with you and the rest of the community?
You've needlessly pointed out twice that progress on RR for the S9 has halted. And? Developers are humans, just like you (I assume).
I suggest that if you haven't already, you should experience what it's like to build and maintain a custom ROM, before continuing to complain about inactive developers.
I'm back from vacation now, but I really don't have any reason to continue with this project, doesn't help that I would have to share my builds with people like you if I did. Google Cloud credit is running low anyways, and I don't have access to any other solutions.

Anyway, thanks for your work. Some guys here may cant read your post before about your vacation.
May be you will change your opinion about not publishing any future versions.
I think that Carbon was running quite well.
Dang that sucks. I really wanted to see more from CarbonRom.
As I expected...you ask for donations in your first post and now......no more updates
you developers always ask for donation and this is one good example why many people dont donate.

Sorry, I've never shared my builds on XDA before, and I was just trying to follow other CarbonROM members' post formats. Please note that I am not a member of the CarbonROM team, these are unofficial builds.
Good news! I now have a dedicated build machine, completely separate from my main computer.
I may post more builds soon, but flashlight, RIL, and camera are currently broken in modpunk's LineageOS I built for myself (my CarbonROM uses his device and kernel trees).
Hopefully I'll be able to revert the changes and bring a build to you guys sooner.
@SirSoviet Pls I'm not being rude or bossy I just wanna ask are we going to get new builds of this rom?
