Hello, I have a Galaxy S9 and the carrier is Verizon. I tried to root this device for Pokemon Go spoof and I've tried everything I can think of to get the tab to enable OEM unlocking and still nothing. Is it my device or am I doing something wrong. Thank you in advance!

There is no oem unlock on these. You cannot root like that. You cannot unlock the bootloader. And I'm pretty sure the spoof don't work on these

I want to root my Google Nexus 7. I was skimming through the notes on how to do this and the first step is too unlock your tablet. However I ordered my tablet from Amazon it is a Google Nexus 7 2nd without any carriers on it that I can see (Samsung, AT&T, ect). So does this mean my device is already unlocked, is there a way I can check to see if it is unlocked? And finally, if it it unlocked where should I start so I can root the tablet? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm sorry if this question has already been answered I did not see it posted. Thanks! :good:

You're talking about two different "locks". There's the bootloader "lock", and a carrier "lock".
When you buy a phone or tablet or whatever through a carrier such as Verizon or AT&T, most of the time it is "carrier locked", can only be used on that carrier's infrastructure until you "carrier unlock" it, and will usually feature the carrier's name and symbol on the hardware itself. This is not the case with the Nexus 7, it is carrier unlocked, meaning it is bound to no carrier at all.
Then there is the "bootloader lock". Out of the box, your Nexus has a locked bootloader, meaning you cannot flash any unsigned packages/code, which is required if you want to root it. You need to unlock the bootloader so you can flash either some file or binary that grants root access, or a custom ROM that is already rooted. When you're reading guides about rooting and they say to "unlock" it, they mean unlock the bootloader.

I'm trying to get oem unlocking to show up in Developer Options but am not having any luck. It's a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 + running Android 10. It's the 256gb aura glow color if that matters. Anyways I've had it turned on for 170+ hours without rebooting it. Yet I still don't see any mention of oem unlocking in Developer Options. Did I miss a step? I see some people mentioning stuff to do with changing the time and stuff and I tried that in the past with no success. I just tried to check for software updates then went back to developer options and still don't see anything about oem unlocking. I have put the phone in airplane mode a few times so could that be it?
What is the criteria or whatever you need to do to get oem unlocking to show up?
It's not rooted and I currently have had it on for over 168 hours and tried checking for software update by going to settings>software update>download and install.

What is your model number? N975(?)

Your not doing anything wrong and there is nothing you can do.
The SM-N975U and SM-N975U1 do not provide us with the ability to unlock our bootloader. This means we will not be given the OEM Unlock option.
But isn't unlocking bootloader part of rooting? Or is there a way around that? I mean I don't absolutely have to root it but I thought it would be cool to have the option. What's so different about this one that I can't be given the oem unlock option? Sorry if I sound irritated.. I am but not at anyone on here

You should do a little more research. None of the US snapdragon Note10's are bootloader unlockable and hence, are not rootable. Doesn't matter where you purchased it. As far as I know, this is the case for all Samsung phones sold in the US and has been the case for quite a long time.

No US versions of the Note 10+ can be OEM unlocked or rooted. Does not matter if you bought it from Samsung carrier unlocked or from a service provider. Carrier versions are SM-N975U and unlocked version is SM-N975U1. It has been a very long time since you could root a Samsung US device. I believe the S6 or S7 were the last rootable Galaxy phones in the US. The Note 8 could be rooted with an engineering kernel but it was more of a hack since you could not fully charge the phone.
Is there any way to unlock Pixel 2 XL running android 11? I misses my custom rom adventures :crying:.

That largely depends on if you have a "google" or "verizon" variant device. If you can enable OEM unlocking in developer options, then you should be able to unlock the bootloader.

I bought unlocked model. Imei checking shows Verizon sim enabled. Will it ne difficult to unlock bootloader and flash custom roms?

First, make sure that you can enable "OEM unlocking" in the developers options settings section. If you can, then unlocking the bootloader and installing roms is not that difficult provided you have a good understanding of how fastboot works:good:

Go here and enter your IMEI: https://www.verizon.com/od/prepaid/bring-your-own-device/#/checkDevice
It will tell you if it's a Verizon device, or a "NON-VZW" device
Any workaround for Verizon variant running Android 11 or if it can be downgraded to Android 10?

My phone is not a Verizon variant (NON-VZW), however it was bought from Verizon and cannot be unlocked. Is there any way around that? (Since Verizon says and several other IMEI checkers don't say it's a Verizon only variant).

For me, it's kinda difficult to identify now as there is no app or setting from Verizon on it, tired checking it on Verizon but their IMEI checking page is down. If yours is non Verizon, unlock oem shouldn't be grayed out by default. I'm not expert on it thoug.
I bought a NON-VZW phone and enabled OEM unlocking, but after I put my Verizon SIM and an update happened, it got grayed out before I could unlock the bootloader. Is there any way to put it back on older software? It is still marked as NON-VZW in the IMEI thing.

Maybe try taking the SIM card out, factory resetting and then see if you can enabled OEM unlocking and USB debugging. If so then unlock the bootloader before putting the SIM back in. Won't put you back on an older software but may allow you to unlock the bootloader.
I am trying to root my phone but I can't get passed enabling the oem lock because it does show up in my developer settings. Is there a way I can root it without enabling that to open the bootloader. I'm very new at this so if anyone can help much appreciated.

If it's the U.S. variant, long story short is no.
Samsung has been hard locking bootloaders on U.S. variants for years now and you need to unlock bootloader (OEM Unlock) to flash custom binaries (Magisk/root).
It used to be that there was no way of unlocking bootloaders until recently, but it's a paid service

Everyone says just about the first thing to do is to select OEM Unlocking on the Developers Options but it isn't there. I even following one set of directions to try to make it show up but it didn't work either. I can't seem to get to the rooting without the OEM Unlocking. Anyone have any ideas? It doesn't have to do when I purchased the device which is what one person suggested but didn't help.

If this is a Snapdragon device, unlocking the bootloader most likely isn't possible.
Try this;
Remove the SIM
Factory reset
Skip through the setup wizard, DO NOT connect to WiFi or insert the SIM
After initial setup finishes, enable developer options
Manually set time at least 1 week ahead from now
Wait a few minutes
Check to see if OEM Unlocking is available

Your are right. Snapdragon won't let you unlock bootloader. Tried your steps and of course it didn't work.
