Hi everyone! (Sorry the bad english)
I have an HTC S621 (Dash) whit a very weird problem.
Some months ago, the battery has become to discharge very fast. Like From 100% to 0 in 35/40 minutes.
But even whit 100% of charge, if you turn wifi on or make a call, the phone turns off in a few seconds. And when I turn it on again, it show 60% charged.
So, wondering its a battery problem, I bought a new one and unfortunately the same problem still happen.
So, someone have the same problem? Can anyone help me? Tanks a lot!
Not strange infact u would have found threadz with exact same issue if searched? new battery solves it "generally".
I am not sure that I understood what you wanted to say, but:
- I bought a new battery > Not Work
- I've search in the forum, have no found some one with the same problem (The people usually solved your problems changing the battery, not work for me)
- I've originaly used an original ROM from HTC, but I try lots of ROMs (WM5, 6 and 6.1) > not work too.
Tanks!
same problem here, but new battery solved it, this is my fourth battery for my dash since 2007...

Herp derp, if a new battery and different ROM's didn't, it's the actual phone.
Lrn2deduct xD
I have tried something different: I have an old nokia phone and the battery is 3,7V/860Ma. It have almost the same size of the Dash battery, is a little small. Well I put her on Dash and works fine for hours. With Wifi, phone and bluetooth on. I set to never power off the backlight and open an internet radio to test and just works fine. The only problem is the battery metter is not show the real state of the battery. It jump from 90% to 89% and stop. After almost 50m it jumps again to 70%, etc..
I wondering if the phone have a problem to charge the battery only. So I have a new questions:
There will be a problem charge the 860Ma battery on S621 to test? The Original has 960Ma. I fear explosions!
Tanks!

My post meant generally a new battery fixes it to which would have found via search, if not then it's hardware related or you baught a duff battery? "has been known to happen with new battery too" also can be found via search
Would not advise using a battery from another phone full stop.
Sounds like your Dash has had it's last dayz

Yea...
I will try two last things... use the warranty to exchange this battery for a new one to be sure that is not a factory problem on her, and buy a standalone wall charger to recharge the battery without the phone.
I need this phone alive a little more time because he belongs in truth to my wife, (I bought a Kaiser for me a few months) and I will not buy a new one for her this days (sorry honey)...
Smartphones like Dash are cheap on North America and Europe but on Brasil they cost around R$ 500,00 ($270,00) and for now is too much for me
Tanks!

If the Dash cost $270.00; how much was the Kaiser?
yea that surely calls for a new Battery !
just this time try to get a high capacity battery like 2200mA/h or something because the standart one is only 960mA/h I got my 2200mA/h with abt 20 $ on ebay which is very cheap ! and it stays a hell lot of time with wifi Bluetooth on...
Boa sorte
My battery just went was a 2009 one, just gonna order the 1300 battery shall be Goood! you probably killed it via charging USB or overclocking on Kavana Build etc or it just smoked itself, My 2008 Made S621 died after months too, 1300 stock size battery online is a good choice for this phone.
A new batter should fix it but if you get the original type it's going to do the same thing. You need a battery that has been produced more recently than the originals.
Im pretty sure its cause i overclocked.... but i wanted a nice new 1300 maH battery whats 30 bucks lol )
Hi been following XDA for quite a long time now (great forum)
Just had a thought would it be possible to connect a USB harddrive to your phone and get it to display the files on your phone?
Cheers Jake
AFAIK it's not possible for two reasons:
Main reason is that our phone isn't capable of USB Host which is what it would need to be able to negotiate a connection with the HDD. Both devices are effectively peripherals. I believe some phones are capable but not the Hero.
Secondly you would need to cable to go from your HDD which terminates in a mini usb connector (sure you'd be able to find on though).
Sorry,
Phil
Also, this question belongs in Q&A not Development but I'm sure a mod will be along shortly to sort that out.

...but surprisingly nobody needs that.... pity...
Sort of stand corrected then I suppose. The usb chip does support Host but the support isn't in the standard kernel. He has made a go at porting it to the 2.1 kernel and is hoping to have it integrated into a villain rom. From what I read, I don't think he has got the USB port to be powered which severly limits the number of applications for this. Can get round by using a powered usb hub but this is pretty useless for mobile uses.
Is very interesting, still very much a work in progress though.
Thanks for the quick reply just thought could be quick useful.
When you think of it, if your phone battery would have to feed power to spin up a harddisk and keep it spinning, it would get depleted pretty quickly, so this feature would be of limited use anyway.
3.5 externals use their own power supplies
it would be cool, if this would be possible^^
an usb-memory-stick would be enough for beginning

That guy developed a kernel patch with a driver to support usb host, maybe we could add it into the kernels that are being released, or even make it an optional patch that would be compatible with the kernels in this forum? I think keyboard support would be awesome, especially for those of us who like to flash roms often, it would make typing in all of our different account details in over and over again less of a hassle.
Hello all, I have searched the forums far and wide for something relative to my problem but It's a rare one so as yet I haven't found anything, please direct me and delete this thread if I'm wrong!
A friend gave me his Desire as the micro USB port was broken. I promptly ordered a new one, and promptly messed up the installation due to malfunctions out of my control. I didn't think much of it as we happen to have an external phone battery charger in the house, so I can still use it fully just without being able to plug the phone in while it's on to charge it, my problem now is that the phone is locked to T-mobile and the unlock utility requires connecting to a computer!
My question is, is there any possible way of unlocking the phone for my Tesco sim, without having to plug it in, or use one of those Rebelsims? I've Googled tireslessly and cannot seem to find anyone in the same situation as me, so I ask you esteemed forum natives, it is possible?

short answer, no. Long answer, no. I don't think its possible.
I thought that might be the answer! I just needed to hear it from people on here, I suppose my best option is the rebelsim or trying to mend the port again

Dear developers,
I recently found my old i9000. It had a bad accident some time ago, and its screen is completely busted. There appears to be damage to the motherboard as well, which was why the repair centre considered it a total loss. It still boots, though, and woke me up some time ago with a preset alarm, so I expect the internal damage is actually minimal. I suspect I can still use the the phone for something, maybe a server.
Thus, I would like a ROM that by default has some method of input/output apart from the touch screen (perhaps VNC, and I believe there are settings to allow you to connect the phone to a TV using the sound plug, that + USB mouse would also be cool, or if you can come up with another solution, just as long as it works, it's good). I would also like to be notified of some way to preload wifi settings into the ROM itself (mostly in case an Internetttechnology like VNC is used).
I assume I can use Odin to actually flash the ROM (thus allowing me not to use screen input for this process). It doesn't matter what method is used to circumvent touch screen input/output, as long as it works.
If someone could make such a ROM, I would be very thankful.
this is not the right place to post this.
Also, if it was as easy as your saying, we wouldn't need developers. What you can do is sell it for whatever price it gets and buy a raspberry motherboard. Which is exactly what you're asking for plus an HDMI port.

I had hoped it would be easy for someone who was more familiar with custom ROMs. I have no idea what goes into it.
I do have 2 Pis, BTW, I just like reusing things +my i9000 would be better suited for a purpose I had in mind, due to being flatter and already having wifi. I guess I hoped for too much, then.
Please post this in the general forum not in developers forum

Hi there, i'm having charging problems with my device, sometimes I let it charging all night and when I wake up the battery level is at 5% (And I sleep a lot, really). I bought a new battery, that's not the problem. I tried several cables and chargers (2.0 a) and all work fine except with the note, if I want to transfer files via pc I must put the cable in a specific angle, etc.
I have read a lot of threads of people who bought the first usb they saw on ebay and it didn't work as expected: mic problems, signal loss...
So I'm wondering which one should I buy. I have seen a lot that seems to be identical, but there are 4 numbers in the module that are not.
[SEE ATTACHMENT]
It's the only difference I see so far. Anyone know if it will work? I can't find any that match EXACTLY the numbers, but these two looks pretty similar
Thanks for your time guys.
Sorry for the english, spanishfag inside.
I haven't heard anything about that number being important whilst reading up all the information I needed to replace mine (I'm still waiting for my port replacement).
What is very important though is to get the same revision as your original one, also it has to be an original samsung and not a knock-off.

Okay, I think I'll buy the one I posted above.
I'll wait til tomorrow to see if anyone else have replaced it or know what these four numbers means. I think so too, the rev is the point. But i saw different modules with rev1 and....Well, you can play to find the differences with them. [ATTACHMENT]
Thanks :good:
I checked the number on mine and it's 1206 Also, that 2nd picture you posted looks like a fake, better not buy from that person.
