I moved some apps to SD card this morning and now when I reboot my Galaxy Tab S4 it shows the padlock icon for a long time but eventually only boots into Android Recovery mode, where my options are:
Try again (Doesn't work)
Erase app data (Doesn't help)
power off (Doesn't help)
view recue log (Doesn't help)
I am able to reboot the tablet into the full Android Recovery mode which gives me a few more options:
!! CAUTION !!
Not enough storage resource.
Perform "lacking storage booting" (what is this? I can't find out how to trigger it)
Reboot system now (reboots the tablet)
Reboot to bootloader (works, doesn't help me I don't think?)
Apply update from ADB (makes tablet show up as "sideload" in adb, but "adb pull /sdcard" says "connect failed")
Apply update from SD Card
Wipe data/factory reset (I would like to avoid this if possible)
Wipe cache partition (I've tried this already)
Mount /system (works, doesn't help me I don't think?)
View recovery logs
Run graphics test
Run locale test
Power off
I have adb on my PC and I was hoping to use "adb pull /sdcard" but "adb devices" does not find the tablet.
I've tried removing the SD Card.
Does anyone know a way I might recover from this besides selecting "Wipe data/factory reset" above?
I have the exact same problem unfortunately.

Was messing around with my phone flashing roms to see what I liked best and got too far ahead of myself and forgot to wipe data and cache. Now, I'm stuck in some kind of "boot loop" and can't get back into ClockWorkRecovery(Via root) to perform a restore. My computer just isn't recognizing that I have my phone connected now although it did previously. Is there anything I can do in this situation, or am I basically screwed?
Edit: I solved the issue on my own, it just took lots of playing around and disconnecting/reconnecting before I was able to get back into CWR. If a mod sees this, go ahead and delete this thread it has no purpose.
HELP
Please, i have the same issue
My phone has been bootlooping for a week now, so much i decided to give up.
Please please please tell me how you got back to clockwork and then from there what to do
Thank you so so much in advance
My guess, and this is only a guess, is to try the following.
Assuming you have already flashed the ENG build...
1. Place a new update.zip (clockwork recovery) onto root of the phone's SD card (probably using a card reader, just to be on the safe side).
1.5 Turn the Phone off, if it's on.
2. Hold down Volume Down + Power Button to turn on the phone and boot into the phone's default recovery.
3. Press Volume Up + Power button to get the selectable menu.
4. Select the "Apply update.zip" option (2nd one down).
5. This should boot you into the Clockwork Recovery.
From there, locate the ROM you want to use that's meant for the Slide (like SlidemeRoot 5).
1. Download the ROM.
2. Navigate to the mount menu in clockwork and select the option to mount the card as USB Mass Storage.
3. Plug the phone into the PC (via USB cable).
4. Copy the ROM to the card.
(My trick here is to redownload ROMs. I've seen my phone bootloop when the ROM doesn't download all the way.)
1. Unmount USB.
2. Navigate to the Wipe Data/Factory Reset option.
3. Select Yes from the menu to wipe everything.
4. Locate the install any zip option and install the ROM
5. When that's done, select the reboot option.
From here, you can just leave the phone alone until it boots. If you worry or want to watch, use adb to watch the logs.
1. In command prompt, navigate to where you have ADB installed.
2. type in: adb logcat
3. Enjoy.
For me, the first boot for SlidemeRoot took at least a minute. I could see the logs rolling along, so I just left it alone until the logs slowed down and then stopped. By then, the phone looked like it was ready to go (complete with normal screen, signal, and everything).
I did the same thing, but I havent flashed my rom with the eng build, is there anything I can do, or is my phone hosed? My phone wont boot, and I cant get it to boot up in clockwork, so I cant reflash it...
I'm on AOKP 4.0.3. My phone is now stuck on the AOKP startup screen. From CWM, Last line of log says "I:Skipping execution of extendedcommand, file not found ...
I can only startup to CWM recovery and a bit of googling suggested that I need to do a data wipe to repair it. So, is there any way to do a adb backup and pull that backup on to my desktop? I want to backup some of the app data and photos.
I tried plugging in to usb, but couldn't find it mounted on /Volumes or in the Finder. However, ./adb devices does show that I have the device connected in recovery mode.
$ ./adb devices
List of devices attached
01498B301001C011 recovery
If you wipe from Cwm it doesn't touch the SD card I don't believe.
If you wipe to reflash from CWM it won't wipe your "SDcard".
Hello,
I was trying to unlock the sim. I installed ZVC and later I wanted to change it ZVG. I used a software named "flashery" (or something like that), but I just flashed the root.img, and rebooted. Now the system boot into loops, only appears LG logo. I am able to enter into the recovery menu, which looks like:
=========================================
Android system recovery <3e>
KOT49I.LS980ZVC
reboot system now
apply update from external sdcard
apply update from cache
apply update from ADB
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
===========================================
It seems that the only way for me is to use "apply update from ADB", and my computer is able to detect the device by "adb devices"
Would you please let me know what are the next steps should I follow?
Thanks very much!!
Hi all.
I have a phone stuck in boot loop. It's a stock ROM, Android 7.1.2 (January 2018) but I dont have exact image reference (Wileyfox/switf/crackling 7.1.2/N2G48B/eeea277114 from recovery mode) . Secure boot is still enabled and phone is locked, but I have the unlock schema
When the phone boots, it stucks approximately 2 seconds after the lock screen. The screen then turns off and it reboots after a few minutes. If I am fast enougth, I sometimes have time to unlock but it freezes immediately after, and reboot after a while.
It started after the phone has been turned off. The last application installed is the GEEV application. Maybe it's the cause, or maybe the phone is full.
What I tried:
As stated in Facebook Wileyfox post ( unable to post full url: officialwileyfox/posts/1844545742523409),
I can access the safe mode (vol down at Wileyfox logo), but it does not change anything, it still stucks and I can not deactivate the last application installed.
I can access the bootloader and recovery mode, but I cannot access it via adb / fastboot (linux), I suppose because I cannot enable acces in devolopper mode in phone setting. I tried to update an older image from SD card, but the phone refused to downgrade to an older image.
I also tried to wipe cache partition.
Photo and contacts are backup, only SMS are not backup and I would like to access it.
Do you have any suggestion to access user partition or unblock the phone wihout wiping user data?
Thanks
If you can reach recovery mode there should be a phone reset option that can clear the apps.
Here are recovery mode choices:
-Reboot system
-Reboot to booloader
-Apply update from ADB
-Apply update from SD card
-Wipe data/factory reset
-Wipe cache partition
-View recovery logs
-Run graphics test
-Power off
I already tried wipe cache partition without result.
But I didn't try wipe data as this will also wipe SMS, won't it?
SMS should be saved to the cloud and restored when you enter your gmail account after the reset.
No it's not saved, that's why I need to access the phone if there is a way
If you can unlock the bootloader you could install twrp recovery which has an mtp mode which would give you access to your files. Suspect unlock bootloader will not be available to you.

I have tried wiping cache partition but it didn't help. My phone is not rooted and I have very less experience about recovery mode. I don't have complete backup of the data on my phone so I really want to avoid factory reset. Can someone please help me to get this issue resolved?
Many Many Thanks In Advance!
Has anyone faced same problem in past?

A factory reset will not remove data, such as pictures, videos, music or downloads. It will remove your settings and any apps you have installed and any data associated with those apps. I don't see what other choice you have. It is too late to backup now.

I thought factory reset means deleting everything??
Is there a way I can get into my phone and delete some files so the phone can start normally?

No, a factory reset doesn't delete your personal data. You can try plugging your USB cable into a PC, but I doubt that it will connect from recovery menu.
