I tried it and I first had to mount some partitions. I am not sure which partitions is needed to make a back up. Some partitions caused an error or say backup failed. I have to investigate more or do you have an idea?

What partition have you mounted ?, from TWRP you should be able to backup all partitions without problems...
I STRONGLY ADVISE to NOT FLASH TWRP (at least the one that was build on the telegram group mentioned by hans3103) from the Official TWRP app. I did it and my phone entered in a bootloop that left me as last resort, to flash the entire rom and of course lose all the content of internal memory.
With the help of the guys of the Telegram group I could make the phone boot again, and flash TWRP together with the file vbmeta_disabled.tar (downloaded from the group) that made the phone still bootable, ALL FROM ODIN !!
I had to reinstall everything again, but now I have the phone rooted (fortunatelly I had saved the boot.img patched with magisk) and TWRP working...

I've the same model, working fine with me, so let me tell you what I'd done..
downloaded the recovery from moto.shreps.fr by choosing my device and the last 3.1.0 build and renamed it to twrp.img
try the same and first, boot this twrp temporarily using
fastboot boot twrp.img
if twrp works then return to fast boot and flash using
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
done. ?

is that problem persisting during backup or restoration?
if you're having problem in restoration then
Decide which backup file you want to restore.
3. Rename that file from "msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt" to "msgstore.db.crypt"
4. Install WhatsApp
5. When asked to restore, tap [Restore]

Can you tell me how much time it took to boot into twrp
Hi guys I got bootloop in my moto g5. First I got "failed to mount /data", now the phone boots in unlocked warning screen then says "erasing" then reboots and start over again.
Before the procedure my actions was:
- I got OTA update
- inserted a microSD
- unlocked bootloader
- boot on TWRP 3.1.0
- backup to microSD
-install TWRP
as shown by bootloader screen, my model is "cedric XT1672 32GB P5", M8937_8000.122.02.45R CEDRIC_BRAZILDSDS_CUST.
What I don't understand is why TWRP don't restore, as a made a backup before the procedure.
I appreciate if somebody could help me out!
I had the same problem. Wiping /data corrupted my partition table or system partition.
You need to flash the system and / or the partition table via fastboot from the extracted stock rom (see the other thread arround here, make sure you use the right link (cedric, not the potter one)
-> boot to fastboot
fastboot flash system system.sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.sparsechunk.1
...
It should boot normally afterwards, but probably twrp is gone / twrp has no access to your /data again. See the twrp thread, i'm facing the same issue. But at least the phone works again - without root
Greetings,
Chris

WHAT IS TWRP?
Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.
How to install:
1. Unzip
2. Install fastboot tools from google's sdk on your PC
3. Enter fastboot mode on device
4. Unlock your bootloader
5. Run "fastboot flash recovery jason_twrp_recovery.img" via command line
6. Reboot

Fastboot the stock boot.img to remove twrp. Then try using twrp version 3.3.0-0. You will still throw mounting errors when you flash zips, but it will still work :good:

On Android 10 the /system partition is locked at read only so it can't be mounted in TWRP as read write. To do a nandroid backup go to mount and select mount partitions as read only and check /system and /vendor then do the backup
Hello Users,
besides the Xiaomi have a Samsung Galaxy SM-A320FL that I accidentally bricked by following a tutorial in TWRP.
The first successful attempt of flashing anything to my phone is flashing TWRP,
I wanted to root my device, but I could not because I had the 0MB storage error, and it could not read the /data, /system, /storage and /sdcard.
So I followed a tutorial on how to fix it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...external-otg-usb-storage-0mb-in-twrp.4356191/
It said I need to change the file system, after I finished the tutorial, it was able to read, but not the file. I tried booting the phone and checking, but my phone would not boot. I tried to format all data, thinking that it would fix it, but it was even worse, because I deleted the OS in the process, TWRP says that there is no OS.
Now, I downloaded the stock firmware from here: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767132971
And I tried flashing it, but it did not work. Please tell me if this is the right firmware or send me a link to the correct one, it was Security Check Error: (PIT) on the phone.
I also think it’s an issue with the phone/computer, because I tried flashing TWRP again, but it did not work, but it worked the first time. I can give more info on the problems, if you want.
Please help me.
BTW, I had the Android 8.0.0 system, and I would want to upgrade to a newer version of Android
if possible.
If you can still boot to twrp you are good to go. Just change the filesystem back to standart and format your data (you have to type "yes" in the process) ane everything should boot up as usual, but YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST. Not sure if stock overwrites twrp tho, you might have to reflash it afterwards to install a custom rom.

Hey, by the way, TWRP fails to mount /data and following any tutorial on the internet to fix it bricks my phone. Do you have any solutions?
Hey guys, this is my update!
I patched my firmware AP file with Magisk and flashed it! I did not need to do any RMM bypass or other stuff, I needed to just do the "additional setup" in Magisk which rebooted my phone, and now I have root access!
