Storage malfunction - Samsung Galaxy A50 Questions & Answers

A-505FN user here, I flashed TWRP through Odin yesterday and then flashed Infinity OS through TWRP, ever since I flashed TWRP my files got corrupted. I can't take screenshots, pictures, downloas any files or even use Chrome nor update it, certain apps don't install giving the Insufficient storage error although I have plenty of storage. My files are just a bunch of folders with random letters as names. Any suggestion is appreciated.

[Q] How do I find the hidden/lost data after CMD 10.1 RC4 update?

So I have an ATT Samsung Galaxy SIII, rooted and flashed with Clockworkmod and Cyanogenmod 10.1 RC4. I updated Cyanogenmod today and could not back up due to low storage space. (Like an idiot) I still updated without manually backing up any data.
After I updated to RC4, all my GBA Roms, my Rom saves, my photos, basically all my data EXCEPT FOR system settings, texts, and app info was gone. My contacts were gone as well. I tried searching with my file explorer to find the data, but could not find anything. I also tried connecting via USB and looking with my laptop. I still couldnt find my old data, yet my internal storage space is still brimming to the top.
I DID FIND MY DATA!
The ONLY way I kindof see my data is by starting into recovery mode, choosing "install zip from sdcard," then choosing "choose zip from sdcard," AND THEN I CAN SEE ALL MY OLD APP INFO AND DATA. But I cant do anything with any of it, or access it from my computer.
Can anyone please explain to me how to get my app data, pictures, and ROMS, say, onto my laptop?
UPDATE: I used SD Maid to search for one of my GBA ROMS, and found them. So I now have a path to work with:
my old files are in /mnt/shell/emulated/
but now I can't figure out how to get them out and on to my computer. My computer doesn't show system files. I installed everything to make my computer and phone compatible with Android Commander, but it just shows a blank line where my phone should show up, and it gives me the "Android ADB device offline, can't issue commands" error. I'm so frustrated.
I have the same issue. I cant find a solution anywhere. In CWM I can see lots of old files that I had saved. I see them any other way than through CMW. And 6GB of SDcard is missing. I know those files are what is taking up the space but I can't access them.

[Q] Help me with media issue?

So i was on g2 apps v5.5 rom for some time when all of a sudden my media stopped scanning, i wasnt sure why, rescan media apps werent working either, so i decided to flash a new rom and i chose candykat, since then all of my files that i used to have, pictures, videos, etc have completely vanished. i cant locate the files in 7 zipper, es file explorer, and media scan apps still bring me nothing. Yet my internal storage still has the same amount of space used that it did before, and also when i go into CWM and choose install a zip it shows all the folders and things that i am missing, but that is the only place i see the folders but i dont have access to my files from cwm. Also i have noticed that when i am on 7zipper looking through files my internal storage says storage/emoulated/0 and i have no idea what the emulated is about, if anyone has any info or knows what im talking about please to help, Im not too great with phone stuff but i am okay, so if anyone has any simplified steps to give me on how to fix this issue it would be appriciated, thank you.
No answers anyone?
Just do some searching mate. And use ROOT EXPLORER and give it access.

The way Kitkat makes the "SDcard"/"Internal Storage" directory is different from how it was on Jelly bean. <--EDIT: By this, I mean that the directory path is different.
The card is reading that X amount of data is on the card, yet you can't see it because your files are technically still there, but under the old directory path.
There are a couple of ways to fix this, but the EASIEST (IMO) way is to first restore a JB Nandroid backup (you can backup your KK ROM first if desired). First thing you'll notice is that the files will be there again. Now, plug your phone into your computer and copy all the files to it.
Reboot into recovery and format the internal SD. It's best to do it from within recovery, because otherwise, JB will just recreate the JB file structure and immediately start saving stuff to it. So when you get to KK, there will once again be the old structure hidden and with some files taking up space.
Now either reflash your KK rom or restore your KK backup.
Boot it up and copy your files back to the phone.
*I ran into this same issue after flashing KK for the first time. This is the exact process I did to resolve it.
Another way is to use a root file browser and locate the old directory and copy everything over to the new one. However, I think this might take quite a long time since the phone can do this only so fast.

App Installation Issues Lineage OS 14.1 nightly OPO, Error 492

Hi,
I recently upgraded to Lineage 14.1 bacon for my Oneplus One. I installed it using TWRP. I had made a backup of important apps via Titanium Pro Rooted (Dunno if this is relevant).
Also I made a backup of the system and data via TWRP just in case. After the first successful install, like a fool I tried to revert to the old build from TWRP Backup by using the restore process, where I tried to just restore the data part of the backup and not the system as well.
It got stuck at 50% during this process for more than 6 hours. I just rebooted the phone midway during the restore process, wiped the phone again to factory and re-installed Lineage 14.1 (with Gapps Micro which I did the first time as well).
Now for some reason after that, some of the apps that I try to install, just refuse to download from the App Store. They are permanently stuck at the downloading stage where the download progress bar never shows. After a few minutes they return with an Error 492. This is happening for apps like google chrome, microsoft excel, powerpoint & word, Line, Snapchat, Candy Crush, Magic Rush Heroes and few more apps. The rest of the apps just download fine.
My guess (since I am not an expert at any of this stuff) is that the restore process is where things got screwed up. I have wiped everything except internal storage (including dalvik cache and cache) to reinstall Lineage with gapps a few times and there is still no success in installing those few apps mentioned before. I have no clue how to solve this issue.
The Lineage and Gapps packages to be flashed are in internal storage and this device doesn't have an external SD Card. So I cannot wipe internal storage as well. IF there is a way to install Lineage with Gapps in spite of wiping internal storage then I dunno that process.
I am in a major fix here. Please help!
You can use adb push to put data on your internal memory. Ensure that you have usb debugging on when connect your phone.

Thanks for the suggestion! But here is the issue now! My friend in haste, wiped the whole internal storage. Now I had the data backed up luckily. But, there is no ROM or gapps zip available to flash and I am using TWRP 2.7.0.0 and I am unable to find an option to connect TWRP to an external memory such as USB OTG or USB Mass Storage to load the flash files onto the phone. It seems like my phone is bricked with only TWRP as the only recovery mode! Any way I can flash to Lineage again?

Ok I was able to push the zip files for Lineage and Gapps using adb from the computer. But now the problem is that TWRP is stuck in a permanent loop mode. The Teamwin screen appears and refreshes back to the same screen all the time. Should I switch to CWM?
Upon further research I found that using fastboot mode I can flash the latest TWRP image. I did that and thankfully the image that I had sideloaded through ADB was available and I was able to install Lineage and Gapps. Question now remains is that should I install SuperSU and root my device as it still says that the device is unrooted!
Ok back to square one! The apps listed in my original question still dont seem to be installing even after completely wiping the phone and installing Lineage OS 14.1 and gapps afresh. Any suggestions???

Thanks for the suggestion @rk92. I used adb push to install the rom and gapps per your suggestion! But the issue of above said apps not installing still persists in spite a clean wipe of the phone.

When I login to Google Play Store using my google account, the apps that wont install show as installed. I do not own any other device except the oneplus one that I flashed from Cyanogenmod 12.1 to Lineage 14.1 Bacon Nightly. The apps are showing as installed in the same device, whereas they are clearly not! I checked all apps under the settings section and not one of these apps are installed. This is really something strange as an issue! Any ideas forum members? Is there any thread on XDA with a solution to this problem? Please help!

What is your version of Gapp. I think for Lineage 14.1 you need 7.1.1. Sometime back I had an issue when the play service would suddenly stop. I had flashed from cm13 to slimrom. I flashed the stock rom and then flashed to slimrom and this didn't happen. May this is not properly cleaning up your /system.

I flashed gapps nano arm Nougat 7.1.. So guess that isnt the issue?
Ok even my storage seems to be blocked! I am not able to transfer files via MTP, OTG, Shareit and my camera isnt recognising the internal shared storage. The camera has permissions to access storage though. Using all file explorers available in the market, I am still not able to create folders, transfer files etc. Could this be a corrupt storage????
I have the exact same problem. I use Lineage 14.1 (2017 04 10) and android 7.1.1. I Also have certain apps which don't install (facebook, facebook messenger, snapchat). The download does not progress and after a couple minutes i also get error code 492. I just got this phone off a friend of mine, meaning i just did a factory data reset, but that didn't solve the problem.
I've always used apple or nokia in my life, thus i am a real noob at android. If a solution is found in this forum thread i'd be really happy as i can than fully use my 'new' oneplus one.

@rk92 which Stock Rom did you flash? Coz as far as I remember reading there is no AOSP Build for OPO.

@Kees de Groot Welcome to the club! Hope there are other active expert devs who can solve our problem!
@rk92 thanks a lot for your help! My internal storage permissions was the problem. It got fixed when I ran some adb shell commands from my laptop with USB Debugging enabled. Everything is normal now. Error 492 fixed.
@Kees de Groot I have a feeling that your app permissions are a problem. Check access to your internal storage. If you are able to access internal storage on your Oneplus using File Explorer to modify internal storage data, then fixing app permissions for the ones not installing will help you install them. Because all the apps that you are unable to install are due to permissions issues. These apps are not able to get access to internal storage. If internal storage access is the issue for you as well (in spite of being a rooted user), then run the commands posted on this thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2222297
It should fix your permissions.
Hope that helps.
Could a moderator close this thread as solved?

/storage/emulated/0 disappeared

Hello forum,
Title says it all.
More details. A couple of weeks ago, /storage/emulated/0 disappeared. I was then running the latest lineage. No problem until then with previous versions. I have tried everything I could think of:
- looked for my data to see if it had disappeared. No. Everything was still in /data
- scoured the internet for people with the same problem. A few interesting posts, but no solutions.
- recreating the links through a terminal with root access. No luck.
- reflashed stock ROM. Same problem. Impossible to launch the file manager.
- reinstalled twrp and lineage. No help.
Note that twrp in recovery, storage manager in lineage settings all see the internal storage.
I am at a complete loss.
I was thinking it could be a lineage problem but reflashing versions that had been working didn't help. Problem remained with the stock ROM.
I attach a picture of the filesystem as xplore with root access sees it. (No screenshot since android can't access the card to save at the usual pla

Internal storage folders turned into gibberish after rooting, need help

(I have attached pictures of the gibberish below)
Last night I tried to root my Chinese Redmi Note 8 Pro. It was running the Global Rom 12.0.4.0. I followed the instructions in this video. However, when I booted into TWRP and copied the Magisk apk from my pc onto the phone, the internal storage had turned into gibberish. I thought this was just a bug as the files on the SD card were still fine. When I tried to boot the phone up, it would get to the MIUI splashscreen, before bootlooping into TWRP. I used the wipe feature to do a basic wipe of the phone, after which I was able to boot back into Android, but the phone had been reset. However, the internal storage is still gibberish, so I can't take pictures or download apps or anything. I was wondering whether there was any way to fix this or is the device a write off, since I just bought it two weeks ago. Thanks

This latest TWRP is meant to fix encryption.
I'm not sure if it can fix your state (maybe it only prevents encryption), but I guess it's worth trying.
