I'm facing an issue when changing lcd density (DPI) using build.prop editor, some widgets which was working on OP1 CM 11,12,13, are not displayed fine now. also Play store has some resolution issues, like recommended developer icon !
I tried different resolutions (380,400,420,460) all with the same results.
Any clues ?
Don't change DPI globally, that's problem-prone. Instead, install Xposed with module "App settings" and change DPI only for those apps where you want it. (Another advantage is that you even additionally have more flexible options, like changing text size or using the app's tablet UI etc.)

I changed it globally with the app "Le DPI Changer" to 360 and don't have any problems in any app.
440 is great..
i have set the dpi to 380 and have problems in the following apps:
twitter: pictures in tweets have corrupted thumbnails
whatsapp: when you want to crop a picture, it is zoomed in very much and you cannot zoom out so you can only crop 10% of an image
imgur: corrupted thumbnnails too
music player (poweramp) cover art in player notification is zoomed
i think oxygen os handles dpi differently, as i couldnt even find dpi setting in build.prop
i hope someone can fix this bc i would like to stay on oxygen until cm ports etc have dash charging
As I said: No global DPI, but Xposed module "App settings". Then you avoid any problems.

Hmm from the four apps you mentioned I only use WhatsApp, and I just tested out the cropping of a selfie, normal picture and a gallery picture, it works fine for me.
I'm on 360dpi.
Does anyone know the stock dpi value?

I'm noticing font is pretty big in comparison to another 1080p device I have in my possession. It's DPI is set at 420 and what I'd consider perfect.

Which method in the app did you use? I moved the DPI slider in the app, applied it, rebooted, but nothing changed...

Oh right, forgot to mention, use the other method, the slider also didn't work for me.
Users with issues,
try this method:
Create a file called local.prop in the root/data folder with this text in it:
qemu.sf.lcd_density=xxx
xxx = your dpi value
Permissions of that file should be:
rw-r-r--
Reboot.
I did not test it yet on OxygenOS as my device is not unlocked, nor rooted yet.

That file already exists on mine and already has the desired DPI but it's not having any effect...

Use the Le dpi changer from google play, set dpi value and hit build.prop button. Accept it and reboot.
OP3 by TT
i tried to change dpi with ledpi and now my build.prop file is empty and broken. can someone upload build.prop from latest oxygen os please?
EDIT: default.prop in root can be used as a new build.prop in case u get the same problem as me, no need for upload
Anyone know where I can change DPI manually? I can't find the code in the build.prop. I don't want to rely on whack apps or toolkits...

it doesn't exist on builb.prop of OP3, I added it manually.
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=400

i always had the cropping problem with WhatsApp using custom dpi. try to set a new profile picture. always zoomed and no chance zooming out. you have to change the dpi back to 480 to change your profile picture, but otherwise i have had no problems with 380 dpi.
My only qualm about this phone was the abnormally large text and padding in various apps, 440 dpi is a perfect adjustment, haven't seen any graphical glitches as of yet.
I changed my font size using settings in Display to a smaller size, now I can't see the button you press on the camera to take photo's.
I tried wiping cache etc but that didn't help, changing the font back to standard didn't help. When I changed the font to medium it fixed it but that made the font way to big.
Any help appreciated
Are you using power saving modes to change to FHD or HD modes? If so, try disabling that and see if it works. There's a warning when enabling this that some apps may not be compatible.

No I never use power saving modes
In some apps, my text gets cut off. This used to happen on my G6 and I could adjust the resolution size for each app, but that is not an option with Oxygen OS. Is there any workaround for this issue? I've tried changing refresh rates and nav bar setups and nothing changed.

Anyone?

Has anyone else noticed how large the icons and notification cards are on the pull down screen? I am on the smallest display size and everything still seems huge.
I have tried using developer options and setting smallest width to 424 (default is 423) but that reduces it too much in my opinion.
Any way around this?
Yes ofc, but to be honest, after 1 week or something, i didn't notice it at all.

I could live with it as 424 but the problem is that the setting is not remembered, it resets upon reboot.
Why 424? Well the default is 423, and even one point more makes a significant difference. There seems to be no middle ground between 423 and 424 settings.
Any way to remember upon reboot? Or does this need root?

it resets, really? huh
mine only resets when i go to dev settings and open the dpi settings, then it resets. otherwise nope, it sticks.
so just to be sure, have u actually tried anything else than 423 and 424? be sure to try other numbers further apart from stock and see how that suits you.

I have mine set to 390 in developer settings. To me it looks just right for this screen size and resolution. It doesn't reset when the phone restarted.
Sorry my bad, in EMUI 9 the settings didn't stay upon reboot, from my experience.

Are you still experiencing this problem in emui 10?

I mentioned it to emphasize the problem with the ui design (agree that the notification icons are too big)
Updated to EMUI 10 on my P20 Pro, but can't seem to get the notifications to work. I used to get Watsapp notifications, and preview of messages in my notification panel, anyone else had same issue, please help

I could not agree more. It looks terrible.
Notifications are huge.
Pull down Quick Launch icons are also huge.
Had to try and make things smaller, but icons on Wallpaper are now too small.
It's a mess
Was there any fix?
I have DPI set to 430, makes a big - but smaller - difference.
And the settings always stick after cache clearing / reboots.
Hello All,
1) Just as the title reads, is there a way to reduce the font size further than the lowest option from Settings > Display > Font size ? I just want maybe a little bit more. (PS: I'm trying to get the same font size and consistency as my OP7 Pro)
2) Is there a way I can change the quick settings icons's to reflect Google stock icons or Oxygen OS icons ?
I think for 1) above, rooting might be a way as i've done this in the past with my HTC phones. I havent had to root my last few phones but on the Note10+ the font seems to be absurdly large and its bothering me. My OCD is not helping either.
Any suggestions on getting around this will be much appreciated !
I like small fonts, and status bar icons, I set the dpi to 549 in developer option

Amazing, thats all i ever needed ! You saved me from rooting
Yes the only way to reduce fonts is to change dpi... but what dpi number is another problem..!
If you use the samsung keyboard, yes, a problem arises, as the keyboard becomes smaller when you increase dpi, I use AI type keyboard, it is not affected by dpi settings, appart from this I have not found any other problem

I noticed that, but it's much better than dealing with abnormally large text and icons everywhere. I'll probably use swift keyboard or keep tuning the dpi until I find a sweet spot.
