I've tried LeeDroid and now InsertCoin (full wipe, no restoring of apps), in both ROMs I can't login in Skype. After entering user and pass and clicking on "Accept", it says "Signing in..." and there it hangs (i've left it for 5 mins). Maybe it has something to do with AdFree?
Any idea?
try going into settings > applications > skype
and clear data (everything)
I've tried this already, it doesn't work. It also doesn't work when I try Mobile network instead of WiFi :/

Wifi will not connect on my Note 8 Wifi (AU).
Originally updated over the air, but after the update Wifi was broken and Wifi device would not start.
I installed Cynaogen Mod, same issue, reverted to stock ROM, same issue.
Tried a ROM from sammobile, still same.
At the moment using ROM from Sammobile and tablet is rooted.
Seems like a firmware issue on the wifi device.
Anyone know how to flash the firmware on the wifi?
Also, where can I find firmware for the broadcom dhd wifi device.

When trying to turn on the device using settings it just hangs. If I delete /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf the Wifi will start for a very short period, but immediately crashes and won't reconnect. Contents of wpa_supplicant are as follows:

Dude, it is easy to screw up Android loads if you do not properly wipe before installing any firmware.
The only way I perform any Android load is to use philz recovery and format the partition, then boot into loader and run odin 3.07. Once you do every load that way, you will not have issues with cross contamination of system files.

I have the same issue and have tried multiple workarounds first believing it is due to software upgrade but even after downgrading it back to stock, wifi button greyed out and couldn't scan wifi networks most of the times. After repeated attempts, it would scan nearby wifi networks but when you select it, it would just say "secured and saved" instead of connect it. I have checked password/wifi router settings and hard re-set my router etc without any success. I can't connect to any open wifi network either outside of my home to isolate any issues with my own home network for wifi. Also all of the other devices in my home connects with my network fine making me think it is now a hardware issue and would need to replace brokern/faulty wifi part? If so, any link/suggestions on how to go about replacing faulty hardware part to make wifi work again?

Basically, system_server goes into a tight loop trying and failing repeatedly to bring up p2p0.
This is on Huawei, for what it's worth (Mate 8 - NXT-DL00C17 8.0.0.820; Mate 9 - MHA-AL00C00 8.0.0.374), though given that there are other changes which seem pretty general regarding the wifi HAL between 8.0 and 9.0, it seems likely that there are other things happening that are causing problems and I haven't quite figured it out yet.
For what it's worth: the reason for wanting this is because I've ported Miracast support from Oreo into Pie, and it works on devices I have here with P vendor (Mate 9 AL00C00 9.0.1.150; also apparently working on HMA), but since bringing up the WiFi P2P interface is broken, I can't get any farther with it than that.
Not sure if you resolved the issue yet but on C636 running 9.0.1.159 Miracast seems to work. I can share my phone screen to my Android TV box without problem.

Nah, on EMUI it's fine - in this case, its for AOSP Pie built for an EMUI 8 vendor, and there was a good amount of stuff that changed with the WiFi HAL on Pie that caused things to break besides for the bare minimum of functionality needed for wifi to work in the first place. (Hotspot was broken without a HAL being written to provide backwards compatibility behavior, WiFi Direct is broken in the same fashion, I think, but I'm not sure.)
It's also fine if you're already on a Pie vendor - Miracast works fine here on AOSP (with patches to pull Miracast forward from Oreo, of course) on both the Mate 9 (AL00, 9.0.1.150), and the P10 (AL00, 9.0.1.160; C432, 9.0.1.165).

Which means the mobile does not boot up, and in turn I'm not able to use scrcpy or other tool that allows me to control the screen via PC.
Is there anyway I can bypass this Display initialization or to output the display renderization to a virtual framebuffer easily?
Any other thoughts on this issue are welcome, as well as other possible solutions to
this case.

It might be a bit barbaric of me but maybe you should just replace the display ;s
