Wifi and Mobile Data simulatenously for different purpose- connected without internet - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Hi,
On my Note 10+ with Android 10 (official firmware) , I want to use the wifi connection for local access and mobile data for all remaining connections (internet)
How can I make this happen ?
In fact, my wifi connection does not have internet access , so the phone shows it as "connected without internet"
So it should stay like that and phone should use mobile data for internet. Other phones do this.

[Q] Lollipop Wifi Policy

Ive searched the web and read about countless issues about lollipop wifi. but im looking for something specific which i cannot find elsewhere:
on KitKat when connecting to a hotspot (or any wifi for that matter) it would instantly connect to wifi and switch to that connection, regardless if the connection gave internet access or not.
on LP it seems to remain connected to mobile data and wifi does not give an IP address until a hotspot is logged in (using the sign in to wifi notification)
the problem is it doesnt always show, is there a way to switch the wifi policy to not perform a soft handover? or does this need to be baked into a rom?
I have an app that auto-logs into wifi hotspots for me, but because it does not get an IP address and apps are not able to use that connection, it does not work as intended.
FYI i am NOT talking about wifi to mobile data handover, its the other way around

[Q] Connecting to internetless wifi

Hi i used to create my own hotspots when i still had ADSL from my windows 7 machine. All my phones tablets other PC's would connect to it with no problem whatsoever.
I have found other uses for wifi networks that do not require an internet connection. Now seeing as i do not have an internet connection on my computer and some of these that i use only work if the network is not started by the phone, the hotspot has no internet connection.
This is where I think Android says screw the wifi without an internet connection lets use cellular to do things. The error it throws up is "Avoided Poor Internet Connection".
Is there a way to fix this without connecting the hotspot to an internet connection & without rooting or modding my M8?

Settings > Wifi > advanced
turn off auto-switch to mobile network
This should help
Another one in developer settings (however not ticked by default)
Settings > developer options
turn off aggressive wi-fi to cellular handover
These should help you if not already enabled. If they aren't then I'm afraid I don't know

Problems connecting to wifi network with login page (3G still active)

I don't know if this problem occurs only with the OP3. It seems the phone stiil uses 3G if Wifi is not getting a connection (wifi with exclamation mark)
When I connect to a wifi network that needs login, if I don't login the OP3 continues to use 3G instead of failing to connect. This causes me problems to access the gateway page to login, because it gets confused and it tries to access the private IP with the login page using the 3G connection..
I remember my S4 had a possibility of seamlessly switching between 3G and Wifi. Can't I disable this feature in the OP3?
Right now I have to disable the mobile data to force the login through the wifi connection. Is it just me with this problem?
This can be handy in some situations where you loose wifi connection in a public hotspot, due to a timeout, and the phone uses 3G instead of leaving you without any connection. But right now is causing me problems to connect and I must be carefull with huge traffic apps because you can be using 3G instead (look for the !)
I still haven't solve this annoyance. Currently the best workaround is to temporarly disconnect Mobile Data. That will leave the OP3 without internet access, and then it pops the login page (I guess it then assumes the gateway IP is private).
After logging in I can turn mobile data On again.
This is very annoying. Don't you have this problem, especially with corporate wifi networks that require login?

ASUS Zenfone 5Z / WLAN Hotspot / WLAN and Mobile Data

Hello.
I would like to know if there are two things possible in the ASUS Zenfone Software.
1. WLAN Hotspot without Mobile Data
Mobile Hotspot -> ON
Mobile Data -> OFF
WLAN -> ON
So you could connect and login to a WLAN Network with limited devices and share it over your Phone to the Laptop or whatever.
Actually i just know that Samsung can handle this, but this wan't be a Phone for me.
2. WLAN and Mobile Data connected at the same time (Probably you hat to activate this in the Developer Mode).
Mobile Data -> ON
WLAN -> ON
Both of them have to be connected at the same time, so you have to see the WiFi Symbol and also the 3G/4G/LTE Symbol at the same time.
To test this, you can connect to a WLAN withouth Internet access (put the cable out) and then you should be able to open your Browser and surf over the Mobile Data connection, even the WLAN is connected.
Huawei can handle this, but first you have to activate this option in the Developer Mode.

Hotspot - cannot browse from my laptop

Hi,
I received my MiA2 lite last week, with Android Pie and September security patch.
I tried to use the hotspot yesterday for the first time, and I was not able to use internet from my laptop.
Apparently my laptop (Windows 7) connects to the hotspot, and in the wirelesse connections tab windos also says "internet access", but when I try to open google chrome and browse, the connection is just not working... never had any problems with my old mobile (redmi 4). I am using the same sim card and same laptop.
Anyone can help, please?

Hello;
the ootspot only works if the related data sim is located on slot No. 1
The sim is in slot No.1.
It is weird... the computer gets connected to the hotspot, windows also says "internet access", but when I try to browse to any website, the connection just is not working (google gets stuck with "estabilishing a secure connection", or something similar)
FWIW I've never got hotspot to work. I use the Bluetooth network when I need to connect my laptop.
Possibly the sim slots are misnumbered? I believe they swapped when I upgraded from Oreo to pie...
If computers can connect to the hotspot but cannot reach any webpage, most of the time this is due to DNS server not responding (your carrier could be blocking tethering connections...)
You should try to set your computer connection to use manual DNS instead of automatic carrier DNS : OpenDNS Windows 7 Configuration
This link is for OpenDNS but you can use any other dns provider (Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1 - Google: 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4)
Let us know if this works
Is your data plan restricted you from sharing data with the hotspot?
Because my data plan is unlimited quota and I cannot access internet with laptop using mobile hotspot.
No problems with hotspot using this device, connecting another phones and laptops, providing that I've registered to available mobile prepaid internet plans/top-ups. Sounds like your carrier issue with internet plans / hotspots.
Still not working... Windows network center says I have connection to internet, but obviously I have not... I cannot even ping Google.com
I was able to use the hotspot with my previous phone... My network provider allows tethering
Did you try with custom DNS server ?
Did you try to ping an IP address instead of a domain name ?
Tethering traffic can be marked, allowing carrier DNS to filter it, but not all phones comply with this rule...
