anyone successful in installing SBS on demand on the firestick? It's not available on the amazon store. I tried sideloading but it's looking for google play services. Thanks.
SBS on demand is a streaming service https://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/
did you get it to work?
I got the app to install but when I try to play anything it complains about Google Play Services not available but if you look here https://help.sbs.com.au/hc/en-au/ar...cid=od:edm:acwatchlist:relation:device:cta:na
it says the fire stick is compatiable, so there must be an amazon specfic version
try this, official apk, but it may complain "you are not owned this application" due to the geo country checking

Hi. I've installed Google apps and play store on my rooted AFTV2 by following the Aftvnews guide here:
http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-install-the-google-play-store-on-the-fire-tv-2-running-fire-os-5/
So far so good... I've signed in with my play store login, and can download and run free apps.
But I can't get paid apps to install or in app purchases to work.
e.g. in sky force anniversary if i try the IAP to get the whole game, the google play payment box pops up, it has my correct play store credit balance but every time I try I get a “purchase failed!“ error. Similar happens when trying to download paid apps directly from play store.
I had some success with newer Google play services and play store - I was able to sign in to Google play games but the play store crashes when I open it (I have hd xposed) so still not able to buy apps...
Has anyone managed to buy Google play apps by using different Google app versions e.g. play store, play services, play games? I only want the leanback versions as sky force anniversary is a Google TV app.
PS I don't want to pirate any apps, since I have the money to buy them!
Thanks!
I need to all the google play store set (login services, framework, google play services and I suppose play store although we know it doesn't work).
Once the three part are working, the apps that need them should work.
Can someone point me to the thread where the versions are suggested and
linked to where to find them.
Thanks
After the installation comes the message: Apk not in possession.
Can you suppress that?
You get that whenever you install an app that is from the Amazon market and you don't have the app store either installed or you didn't get it directly from the market on your device. usually the best work around for this is to install the Android TV version from the Google play store rather than Amazon store. Or you you can just download the app directly from the Amazon store.
For example if you install the Amazon version of Hulu and you don't have the Amazon app store active on your device it's going to tell you that you don't own it. But if you install the Android TV version of Hulu from the Google play store it doesn't do the check for the Amazon app store and runs fine.
That is also clear to me, but is there perhaps a way to bypass the Amazon exam?
Amazon apk are not in possession
As I know, Hulu is a streaming service. Or did you mean something else?
I don't have an Amazon account and I mainly want to download and install apps such as Joyn or Pluto TV. Amazon forbids me to do that.
Hello, I have recently rooted my 4k Fire Stick (mantis) and debloated it using a couple of threads on this forum and so far so good. Now I have a question about installing a paid app from the Google Play store.
I want to download install a PAID app available from the Google Play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.colucciweb.vpnclientpro&hl=en_US) and need to install the 'Pro' version, but can't figure out how to do this on my Fire Stick. I have a couple of Android tablets that I pay through the Google Play store and I'm trying to figure out how to do on the Fire Stick.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this?
Thanks!

If you have the VPN app on your tablet, use the following app to extract the VPN apk on the tablet. Then do an "adb install" of the extracted apk on your firestick.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ext.ui
The firestick does not have Google Play Services to enable use of the Play Store. I have seen several posts in this forum about problems caused by try to install Google Play Services, so I would not attempt it.

Thank you so much! I will try this later afternoon. Yes, I do have the paid VPN apk on my tablet which happens to be rooted.
Brilliant... this works! Thanks so much for the tip.
My kids want to play Minecraft on the big screen, is it possible on the Firecube? Can we get Play Store? I searched but it’s looks like a no.
TIA
Minecraft is, or was, available in the Amazon app store. I don't think it was ever made available for the 2nd gen Cube (or 3rd). I just get an app unavailable message if I try to install it from the App store.
If you own it on Android, you can try to sideload the APK from your Android device to the FireTV. I tried it on the Cube, it loaded and got to the Microsoft sign-in screen, but didn't have an account to sign-in to see if I could get further.
I don't think there is a way install the Google Play store on the Cubes. Maybe with root on the 2nd gen but nobody has tried and reported about it.
I understand your kids' desire to play Minecraft on the big screen. As for your question, unfortunately, Firecube doesn't support the Play Store, which means you can't download Minecraft from there. But don't worry, there are still ways to play Minecraft on your TV. You can connect your phone or tablet to your TV via HDMI or a streaming device like Chromecast or Roku. Alternatively, you could get a gaming console like Xbox or PlayStation, which both have Minecraft to download. And if you ever need any help with mods or plugins for Minecraft, be sure to check out modbay.net, it's an excellent resource for Minecraft enthusiasts. Good luck and happy crafting!
