Hello everyone,
I'm having a weird problem with a friend's Moto G6 Play.
From what I know, the phone auto-updated overnight a few months ago and since then the display is essentially dead. While the backlight starts up when I plug it in to the USB, I cannot see anything else on the screen.
So, I tried to connect using ADB and fastboot. Unfortunately, the RSA fingerprint has not been approved for my PC and there's no way I can approve it now without getting the display working.
fastboot does detect the device, but unfortunately I cannot do anything else.
I tried to boot through fastboot using a twrp image, but it just got stuck. Any other fastboot command, just shows "< waiting for any device >".
I've also downloaded the stock image, but am stuck at this point.
Hope you guys can help me out here.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I checked this thread, but the problem is different than mine.

Check device manager. Does it say Qcom ha USB mode 9008? Then your phone is hard bricked, and it's not your display the issue. Use qfil and a blank flash to fix it.

Hey guys, I was flashing a rom on my One x but for some reason it got stuck in a bootloop. After that, I tried restoring to my earlier rom using CWM but I forgot to flash the boot.img from cmd first so it didn't work. After that I tried restarting my phone but it wouldn't turn on after turning off. When I plug in my charger the red light comes up but I can't turn it on. I left it to charge for a few hours but it still won't turn on, the only sign of it working is that it vibrates when I attempt to turn it on. I also tried connecting it to my pc and it senses it but I get no results when I type adb devices in cmd. Can someone please help me with this issue? Thanks!
What can you see in windows device management? Does
Code:
fastboot devices
give you any info?
No, nothing, but when I connect to pc it says installing device software
Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that it did turn on before and I got into the bootloader but then it turned off again
I mean the device management in the control panel. It should be there if it says something about drivers.
It says MTP USB Device
What ROM are you on?
I was attempting to flash Blade rom when it got stuck in bootloop
MTP should be only available when the phone is booted. I really don't know what is the problem here, sorry.
Ok, Thanks anyway
I just restarted my pc and after running cmd and entering adb devices I get: SH24KW107359 recovery. But the phone is still off. Any ideas?
If the phone vibrates and your computer sees it like MTP that it might be a hardware failure. Contact HTC for further assistance, or try search the forum. I am sure many faced the same problem, and some got it working finally.
I'm no longer getting MTP, it now says E:\
Wait, were you on android 4.0.4 just before you tried flashing Blade?

No, I was not. At least I don't think so. It's my sisters phone so I'm not sure. Why?
I believe that the phone is switched on, but the screen remains off. Try this:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
I tried turning it on and it turns on then it shows the HTC logo, then when I try to get into CMW it shows a dark screen but u can tell its on.
Ok, if your in cwm, from a cmd prompt run:
adb reboot bootloader
That should put you in the bootloader.
From there use fastboot to flash the kernel to boot as you should have done earlier.
When your done just:
fastboot reboot
-SLS-
When I type fastboot devices in cmd i get: SH24KW107359 fastboot. Can I flash a boot.img by using fastboot flash boot boot.img?
Yes, and also reflash cwm. Dl from clockworkmod site and flash using:
fastboot flash recovery nameofthefile.zip

Hello Everyone!
I recently tried to root my wileyfox swift but failed miserably. I did the following when fastbooting the recovery image -> fastboot flash system ****.img.
However, i realized my mistake too late, and now my phone is all messed up!
The phone doesnt show anything when i try to start it and i cant access fastboot again, to undo my mistake. My device manager recognizes my phone when its plugged in to my computer but i cant access any files.
Am i screwed or is there any solution to this?
Thanks in advance!!
Try to access the bootloader with the hardware button combo first (volume down + power / volume up + power). If you get into recovery, you will be able to get to the bootloader with adb or a menu entry. Depends on what recovery you have installed for the latter.
In case you have no access to the bootloader (proper soft brick), go for the QFIL method. Avoid using it unless there is no other option.
Here is the thread:

Cant access bootloader.
However, tried your second option and it went well until i got "SaharaDownload fail" at the last step, and now my computer doesnt recognize the phone in device manager. It does not show anywhere that my phone is connected.

Does the phone give any indication of being connected? Notification light, starting the display, etc?
If yes, make sure the phone is in the correct mode and check the drivers - some of the other forum members mentioned this and the gymnastics around the battery. This would be on my to-do list. The device might come up on the device manager as different one, so monitor the manager for any changes once you connect the device.
If you happen to have Windows 7 device laying at you house, you can try with it (if only not to worry about compatibility and sporadic Win10 behaviour).
It will be a good idea to check the turkish website for General Mobile 4G (one of the Android one derivatives of the hardware) where some people have faced similar problems using the same tool.

So after attempting to flash Asus 6.0 my device won't boot at all..
Like not even the Asus splashscreen, just some vibrate and shuts off.
If tried this solution but I can't get the iSOC driver to detect my device. It installs the Moorefield driver but it doesn't show as expected in the device manager.
All I get is the battery charging logo when I plug it in USB. And that is all. No other visual.
Is there any hope left to recover?
EDIT: I would expecting this screen but I'm not getting it. Maybe boot is not corrupted but something else? Anyway to enter that mode manually?

Hehehe I guess that post has better English which made the detection process much clearer then the source I quoted.
Tricky part it the device will not stay detected for very long but if timed right, it works! Got to fastboot and if reboot, at least I get hanging cables to repeat the proper easily
Dunno if you get the thanks since the solution came from an other user actually. Just kidding! you get all my thanks for directing me to the proper article

Just went through the same problem with my Pixel Xl.
To fix it i hold down the Volume Down + Power button until the phone boots in to the bootloader.
From there I just flashed the factory IMG.
Best of luck
hey my friend, i was thinking about It, but i have no screen...
how can i know that the phone booted in bootloader?
already tried...but the phone didnt connected to the computer...for sure wasnt in bootloader
Well it can be a hardware failure, but since i had the exact same problem with the black screen and my phone also showed up as QUALCOMM HS-USB 9008, i doubt it is a hardware failure. I can only suggest solutions that might work.
-Try holding in all the buttons for 14 seconds.
-Connect phone to the computer, then run "fastboot devices", if the phone is recognized(shows up in the list), flash factory img.
-Connect phone to the computer, then run "ADB devices", If the phone is recognized "ADB reboot bootloader". Then proceed as when you flash factory img.
Did you come from Android O btw ?

I am sure you have already tried all the combinations in the world.
I would return it to google.

I was clearing the sde partitions and my phone suddenly went blank and it is not starting any more.
if I plug it to the laptop it shows charging symbol and "press any key to shutdown" message on left top corner.
It is not getting detected as qualcom or anything it is not booting to bootloader. sometimes it is showing tmobile boot image.
Phone model XT1789-04
Please help , how can blankfash and get the bootloader back? how to go to EDL mode from here ?

Make sure you're using a 2.0 port from your mobo, not a hub and not a 3.0+ port.
Unplug your phone and try entering these commands one at a time, you might need to unplug before each command.
This all depends on whether you had your bootloader unlocked, adb enabled, etc. You put yourself in a weird state.
Unplug, open cmd prompt and enter
fastboot reboot bootloader it should say waiting for device
plug in your phone and hopefully it'll get you there. If not, repeat above and try
adb reboot bootloader
following the same procedure
fastboot reboot recovery
like above
adb reboot recovery
Hopefully one of those will get you somewhere where you can try to reflash the phone, factory reset, whatever it takes.
Since your pc doesn't recognize your device... who knows.
Last resort
Fastboot oem blankflash
If that works you should be ready to blankflash

Yes bootloader was unlocked and adb was enabled also phone was rooted.
I am trying what you have suggested but its not working till now. I tried on USB 2.0 ports and 3.0 as well but nothing happens. neither blankflash executes nor any of fastboot or adb commands executes.
will linux OS help ?

Never hurts to try, the thing is your phone is in some limbo state and your pc doesn't doesn't see it. I can't imagine that linux will help much. Have you tried holding the power button for a minute or so? I don't know what the sde partition is honestly, but obviously you shouldn't have messed with it. What lead you to that partition and what exactly did you do?
You might uninstall your moto drivers, adb drivers, and fastboot drivers and see if plugging your phone in will detect on your pc as new hardware. Might try installing qualcomm diag drivers to see it it will recognize your phone. I afraid that until your pc sees it, any command is pointless since it can't communicate with your phone.

SDE are mobile partitions and I was trying to delete modem partitions as I had installed pie modem on my device and I might have accidentally deleted the bootloader partition or something like that.
after holding power button for a minute nothing happens same screen appears and disappears as I have attached in my previous reply.
is there a button combination which can direct this device in edl mode?
laptop is not reading my device yet, I tried different laptops different ports and different cables. linux is also not reading the device.
please let me know if you know any way I can boot this in edl mode to blankflash. I tried that cable way green and black cable short thats not working either on this device.

There is no key combo as far as I know to enter edl mode on this phone, and most likely it wouldn't solve your problem. You flashed pie modems on a TMO device, that has been done before and no one has been able to recover from that. Even if you were to somehow get your phone booting, you wouldn't have a baseband or any cell service.

While if the OP is correct, and the problem is that they replaced their bootloader, then that's exactly what edl mode is for. However, you're definitely right that there's no key combination. I've been trying to get my moto into edl for days. I even got the battery to die. It just makes other diagnostics more annoying when I need to charge. So far, from what I can tell, the MSM8998 in a Z2 force first of all plays by different rules, uses a different programmer, and is generally not going to respond to the stock "qualcomm unbrick" tutorials. If it gets into edl, then you might be able to blankflash. But I guess keep trying different things, from what I've read the drivers and usb ports are finicky even with phones where this is known to work. It is not known to work with TX1789, at least not with the ease it works in other snapdragon phones. It's actually a massive security vulnerability (if it works it allows arbitrary read/write from the lowest level of the chain of trust, bypassing most security by default. It's a total backdoor), it's just unfortunate we're on that side of the fence. It doesn't have to be that way, but it was designed to see all unsigned software as equally malicious.

Does anybody have any new suggestion how I can get into EDL mode?
my phone is still stuck on to the screen where it says press any key to shutdown. It doesn't get detected at all on any USB port or with different cables.
Does anybody know if there are any EDL short points on motherboard or deep flashing cable?
although I tried cutting regular USB C cable for trying to short the two cables and force put it in edl mode but nothing worked yet.
If anybody has any suggestion please throw some light.
