I want to have a full Backup of ROM, in TWRP when I go to backup these options is checked by default:
Boot
Data
my question is , what is about this other option that backup have and didnt checked ,for what are they :
Bootloader (lk)
Bootloader(lk2)
Cache
Cust
Cust Image
Dtbo
for what is this options and what will happen if I will checked them all?
what is the best to check and do backup?
System, data, boot, dtbo, and cache will be enough. But really you should probs ask in your twrp thread as the other options are very device specific and has nothing to do with building your own. Unless you are trying to better understand it so you can build your own

Hi all.
I just made my first TWRP backup there and just accepted the defaults as I always have on any device.
After having a bootloop issue due to vendor.
I'm wondering when making a backup should I tick the Vendor / Vendor image ones too or just leave the defaults?
Vendor, not the img, I believe.
I know I saw this process in a recent thread but I've misplaced it. If anyone can point me to it, I would be grateful.
I want to clean flash CM 13 on my OP3.
From what I remember, I'm supposed to store the CM 13 zip file and gapps file in the SD Card folder. Is that truly correct? The OP3 doesn't have an SD Card though I did find a folder.
If I do a factory reset and wipe everything, won't that folder also get wiped? Then how would I install the ROM from the phone?
Sorry, I know this is a straightforward process for many of you, and dirty flashing is easy. But I think a clean flash is better and I'd rather not guess and end up with a bricked phone I have to fuss with.
Again, I know this exact process is in a thread somewhere but I can't find it.
the phone storage is /sdcard/
u can use something like ES File Explorer and create a folder called CM13 or whatever u want
u do have ur bootloader unlocked and twrp installed, correct?
yes u will just the get cm zip file and put it in a folder (ex. /sdcard/CM13/)
i put the gapps in the same folder
create a nandroid backup
wipe/advance wipe - wipe caches/data/system !!!!Do NOT WIPE - INTERNAL STORAGE OR OTG!!!
then flash cm zip and gapps
Hi, thank you. Yes, bootloader unlocked, twrp installed and I've done it in the past on a different phone but couldn't sort out clean flashing from dirty flashing. I've done it correctly in the past, and it's also gone very wrong for me. I think I mistakenly wiped internal storage once and that was a disaster.
Somewhere I've also read about a factory reset through trwp.
I don't need to do that, or wiping caches/data/system is the same thing?

If you wipe internal storage, you will lose the zips for your ROM and GAPPS. You can connect your device and have it recognized on your PC from within TWRP if you do accidentally wipe your internal storage.
Factory reset doesn't wipe the system partition as that would remove your OS. Most Roms will wipe your system partition before it installs itself so generally you don't have to wipe the system partition manually, but it's good practice.
Clean flash = wipe dalvik, cache, data; then install ROM (which will wipe system before it installs, or manually wipe system before the ROM install for good measure).
Dirty flash = flash ROM, then wipe dalvik and cache. The only time you should do this if the ROM you're looking to flash says it can be done (ie. CM nightlies).
Hey guys, quick question. When I go to do a backup in TWRP, I have the option to select System or System Image. What's the difference/benefits of both?
Thanks!
I found a good answer on the TWRP website:
What should I back up in TWRP?
The default backup options in TWRP are system, data, and boot. For most cases, this is sufficient for backing up a ROM. (Note that in some rare cases, boot i...
twrp.me
"A system image backup takes up more space than a regular system backup, but the system image backup is a bit-perfect backup that, when restored, will not break dm-verity (assuming that you don’t break dm-verity before making the backup)."
Cant recall so many partition options in my earlier phones, but with Oreo 8.1 on Rn5 I find these:
boot, cache, data, recovery, system, system image, vendor, vendor image, modem, efs
In all, 10 backup and restore options. I understand data and system are the main ones for backup and restore. And for safe keeping modem, efs as separate backup to the side (not used in regular backup/restore operations).
What about all these new partitions I'm seeing? system image, vendor, vendor image? If I am backing up 9.5.19 and moving to (miui 10) 8.8.23, is data and system all that is required to backup? Will 8.8.23 (fw-less rom) affect these new partitions mentioned? So to restore 9.5.19, just restore data and system and that is enough?
Much thanks.
When I try to restore stock backup it bootlop and didn't complete boot until I do hard reset
What should I do and which partitions should I restore

System - rom
Data - app data & settings
Boot - kernel
It's best practice to restore a backup with the recovery version to which the backup was made
You may want to format data first (will delete everything on internal storage)
Wipe
Format data (option on right)
Restart to recovery then restore backup
If you don't restore data make sure you wipe it in advanced wipe
You must restore at least system & boot
Don't restore anything other than system data & boot unless you are doing it to solve a problem specific to other partitions

Flash no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0 zip file (link here https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/) immediately (before rebooting into the system) after restoring your TWRP stock backup .
