Custom roms and volte support - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

Hi!
I'm using the hungarian Telenor carrier, unfortunately without working Volte on stock rom (the carrier isn't supported). Would i have a chance with any custom rom?

Also unfortunately if carrier do not support it does not work(you can activate settings with magisk module or custom roms). Even if carrier supports volte but not your phone(pixel 3 xl) it also do not work, I tried.
There are some people played and change modem settings by flashing and other stuff and it seems working but different devices.

VOLTE Supported custom rom

Can anyone tell me about the custom roms which supports volte?
almost all of the custom roms support VOLTE. I have tried RR and CM (Official) and (Sultan) Jio Works on all of them .
Im currently using freedom os.. & its supports volte & jio..
I'm on CE 3.5.3 and I can't see VoLTE settings, what's the problem? I broken it changing from stock/FreedomOs to CE?

I dont see any option to enable VoLTE on official cm nightly.
Can you post your screenshot with the option.
what about cm14?
Yesterday I flashed RR in my moto g3 and thereafter the option of enhancing VoLTE isn't available there in network setting. I tried *#*#4636#*#* to edit VoLTE provisioned Flag but it always be Turn Off VoLTE Provisioned Flag. Should I go out there for any other Custom ROM or any trick to solve my matter? Please Reply. Thanks in advance.
Initially I am also faced the same Volte issue, but after doing below process I got the option.
Go to Dialer and type *#*#4636#*#*
Go to Phone information. Scroll down to OEM specific info/settings.
Turn on volte debug.
When you now go to Settings / Sim cards / cellular network settings you'll be able to see the Enhanced 4g lte mode.

The devs just have to turn volte flag on. Don't know why they don't do it.
It's just one line to add.
I think most devs just compile from source. And don't want to tinker with the code anymore.
That's what I think, maybe there is some other reason.
Would see if I can make volte enabling zip for all roms.
Guys I turned on by Editting build prop, just add the following if your ROM does not already have it, if it does use text editor to change values, I use Root explorer
Make changes at own risk, after editing make sure you save changes it will make an automated backup of build prop
#ifdef VENDOR_EDIT
persist.dbg.ims_volte_enable=1
persist.dbg.volte_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.vt_avail_ovr=1
persist.data.iwlan.enable=true
persist.dbg.wfc_avail_ovr=1
#endif

Then it might not be supported by your carrier

VoLTE is controlled by carriers, I assume by imei, and choose and decide which phones get the feature, mostly the overpriced model sold by them.

OP3 Mobile Data on Custom ROM/Kernel

Disclaimer:
I did my research before posting here, tried I believe every suggestion and "fix", so please don't throw links at me with the ones I already tried.
Thank you.
The Issue:
I DON'T get LTE after manually disconnecting or leaving Wi-Fi area (Sometimes it works, so the APN settings are correct; to regain connection I need to toggle Airplane mode or Reboot) on Custom ROMs and Kernels. This includes: Stock Beta16 + ElementalX/Franko kernels; ExperienceOS + Stock/ElementaX/bluespark kernels; FreedomOS + Stock/ElementaX/bluespark kernels.
It DOES WORK on Stock Beta16 and Beta17 just fine.
I use the same APN setting in all cases, which included VoLTE on; APN protocol and APN roaming protocol IPv4/IPv6; Aggressive Wi-Fi to Cellular handover; Cellular data always active. (Some of them are the suggestions and "fixes" I found on the Interwebs)
Any ideas how Stock-based custom Roms and kernels can brake my LTE connection? The carrier is EE UK. SIM also works fine on my Nexus 6P running Vanilla OS with Flash kernel and Root.

Volte loosing issue in oreo roms

i have tried each and every oreo rom available for lenovo p2 and using jio roaming
i am facing volte loosing issue after certain reboots in every rom,
i tried swapping sim cards, flashing stock rom using fastboot and did all the ota updates, tried adding ims to apn type, adding some build prop lines and also tried vreating new apn ! still no success
not facing same issue in los by code elixir but dont want to use it as it has less customizations.
any other solution available for this problem ?
i know most of the developers dont use volte so dont care much about volte but most of the indians are using Jio som cards for calling and internet accessing purpose
So devs i humbly request you to find solution for this issue...
Ya its a big issue in using Oreo rom. I am back to Lineage os 14.1 .
Flash the modem of the stock ROM when you lose the connectivity. It worked for me.

VoLTE is a PIA for developer's. not just because the code is proprietary (meaning no access to the source code).
the Dev's so far have not focused to fix VoLTE for Oreo hence the issues. they focus on other major more important fixes first.
Oreo is a major re-write to C++ compared to Nougat.
VoLTE on 14.1 is stable because the Dev's have figured out a proper way to make it work. Which is not yet the case with Oreo. so if you want stable VoLTE stick with Official LOS 14.1.

How to flash stock modem .
I am on AEX.
---------- Post added at 07:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:46 AM ----------
I think AOSP roms have volte problems.
When I am on AOKP os volte working fine..
Yesterday I flashed AEX which is based on AOSP.
Volte gone.
One way to get back the volte is by changing the sim card from 1 to 2 or vice versa. This will get you volte. And then if you want to change the sim cards back to original then do so. The volte will stick.
Other one is, flash the stock ROM modem or an LOS modem. It worked for me with stock and RR modem.

[Android 11] VoWifi and VoLTE on custom roms Oneplus 8 PRO

Hi,
I've wanted to share my experience in testing the custom ROMs for Oneplus 8 PRO in search of unofficial 11.0 rom that would work flawlessly with VoLTE and WifiCalling. In my case a use of Wifi-calling is a must, due to low coverage in some areas and in buildings where Wifi is the only option.
Stock OXYGEN works fine with VoLTE, VoWifi, DSS, Videocalling.
I wiped the phone, unlocked bootloader and flashed several popular custom roms.
In all of them, I had all the Volte, Wificalling, Videocalling, DSS switches enabled when checked with *#*#4636#*

Tested with POLAND PLAY and T-MOBILE carriers only.
I did not intend to root my phone.
None of the ROMS fit my needs, so I needed to revert to stock ;/
I hope, anyone find it useful when looking for custom rom since it took good couple of hours for checks.

Question How do I enable VoLTE?

Hello,
How do I enable VoLTE as its not working? I used voenabler, went to *#*#4636#*#*, IMS still disabled.
My provider is Telkomsel (Indonesia).
POCO F3 running LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) , rooted, twrp and magisk installed.
What can I do to make VoLTE work?
Manually add the IMS APN
Create an IMS APN
Settings → Mobile Networks → Access Point Names → Add
Input IMS settingName: ims → APN: ims → APN type: select IMS

VoLTE not working
Hi, I had Poco F1 before with working VoLTE, so I know that my carrier and current Sim card is supporting it. All I had to do on the F1 was typing in that code *#*#86583#*#* and activating the new volte setting. I tried that with the X3 but...

Yes, my provider supports VoLTE and also specifically supports POCO F3 VoLTE.
For the APN type, when I type "ims" i cannot click on it, but when i type "default" or "default, ims" or "ims, default", it shows as an option, but i'm not sure if that works/helps in enabling the VoLTE feature

Update: I tried using 2 other different operators (Indosat Ooredeo and XL Axiata), and I managed to get a "registered" status on IMS by tinkering around the settings (turning off VoLTE, mobile data than turning it on) but VoLTE shows "Unavailable", and after a while the IMS also goes back to Not Registered.
Do I need to download/flash some specific software to make it work, related to Qualcomm or some carrier firmware?

Does not work on custom ROM.
Maybe I should go back to Stock ROM, fix the VoLTE and go back to LineageOS?

The VoLTE option disappears again with a factory reset
Interesting. I guess I jjust have to wait. Because 1 of the operators that use 4G only, when I use that, I can make VoLTE calls. But when I use other operator that has 3G 2G as well, it cant make 4G calls
Maybe you need to contact your provider as from my case phone supported volte provider support it but they need to turn it on for your number.... It's not like you insert sim and it enable by default...
