How to send/transfer files to specific directory on Android TV? - Shield Android TV General

Hi,
I have a Sony TV with Android TV and wanted to know if there is a way to send/transfer files to a specific directory/location on Android TV?
Thanks in advance!

You can adb into the tv and use : adb push ("name and location of file" or just drag the file into the adb console) /"location you want to transfer to". Hope that makes sense . I know how to do it but not very good at explaining it.

I use ES File Explorer to start a FTP server. Then move files that way.

In XBMC's file manager, you can add a network location to the install, then select that location in the Add-ons | Install from zip file screen.

[Q] xbmc torrents

I installed XBMC on my Amazon Fire TV along with its required, manually entered, addons. I want to install XBMC-torrents which comes only on a .zip file. Thus I need to transfer it through an FTP or otherwise to the AFT root directory so that I can install it. Any idea how to connect with an FTP client? I tried cyberduck but since I do not know the required user name and password, I get an error.
Any ideas pls......
Thx
adb push filename /sdcard/filename

Last time I used cyberduck, I believe the default U/S was "root" and the default P/W was "alpine", without quotation marks. I could be wrong though. Last time I needed to use it was on my jailbroken iPhone 3g. So it's been a while...
I just use 3CX DroidDesktop, to Web FTP stuff to my FTV. As an alternative to FTP, and assuming you have root access, you could use stick mount to mount a usb stick to your ftv, and install zip files that way.

Tha would work for Apple's TV 2. Not sure about Amazon having the same username and password as Apple

You need to sideload an FTP server first. I use SSHelper (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arachnoid.sshelper&hl=en) so I can SFTP/SCP in and add files. You can also stick the zip on a SMB/NFS mount and add that to your sources and load from there. I think that's the optimal way.

Easiest method for copying XBMC setup on fire tv to fire tv stick?

Hello all,
I have been working on my setup on the fire tv device for some time. I have XBMC customized and configured for my sources/shares and chosen add-ons. I just received my fire tv stick and would like to basically copy the setup to the stick.
For some reason I was never able to get the apps like adbFire to work when I tried Backup XBMC / Restore XBMC (now Kodi) so I was wondering what the easiest way to mirror the setup would be? Is there a config file that i could copy from an install on one device to an install on the other that would setup everything? I am thinking that would probably be "too easy" but it might work for the shares/sources.
Look forward to the responses. Thanks all.

Install ES File Explorer. Turn on Remote Manager (basically, it creates an FTP server on the FireStick). Go to the FireTV, enter that info. Go to this thread that I wrote and look at /9

Note, if you are using kodi, the folder should be org.xbmc.kodi.

Hi - I was wondering if the process that was described allowed you to mirror image the stick? thank you in advance for the reply - I was also looking for a way to mirror the stick from one to the other to avoid making a complete setup for the multiple sticks I am looking to purchase for the multiple TV's in my house.
Thanks
It should work for as many devices as you want. I use mysql library and exported it then the sources appear on all my devices running the same version of kodi.
I prefer this for several reasons but you need a computer that's on 24/7 to run mysql server.

[Q] Could Soeone Get The libminecraftpe.so File From Mincraft Fire TV Edition?

I am wondering if someone can get libminecraftpe.so from minecraft on their fire tv. I want to compare it to the tablet/phone version to see if I can make a mod to enable controller support on mobile. All you need is the apk from your fire tv and an archiving program like 7zip or winrar. Open the apk with the archiving program of your choice. Next navigate to /lib/armeabi-v7a and extract the file in that folder and upload it here. Please and thank you.
There you go, I 7zip'd it then I tar'd it.
did you get anywhere with this?

App not installed. This app isn't compatible with your TV.

I recently purchased the fire stick 4K and I'm having a difficult time installing Kodi on it. I am unable to use ADB link version 5.1 to connect to the fire stick with the developer's options enabled on the fire stick. I get the following message when trying to install Kodi using downloader.
Any assistance to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated
Are you installing the 32bit version?

Yes ARMV7A (32BIT)
Thanks for your help Finnzz. I was able to get Kodi installed using the Easy Fire Tools. I'm confused as to why I could connect using Easy Fire Tools and not with ADB link 5.1. I use ADB link To backup and restore my Kodi build. I don't like having to manually build My Kodi platform.

Easy Fire Tools is also Kodi oriented, you can use the Media Center menu to back up and restore your Kodi Build.
If you still have your other Android device you can connect Easy Fire Tools to it (connects to Android and FireOS) backup, then connect to the Stick and restore.
ADBLink's developer thread is here, he seems very responsive.
