Hello.
I was on OxygenOS v3.2.4 before flashing FreedomOS v1.6-CE. I made a clean flash. The device booted up fine although various mods(audio mods,multi-window etc) that i selected in the aroma installer were missing. After booting up,i realised that my root as well as my recovery were missing. Any kind of help will be appreciated. Please look into this matter guys.
Thanks.
Just get into fastboot and flash twrp from there, as you did originally... And freedom is is boring, get yourself slim6 or dirty unicorns
Fastboot TWRP then reboot in TWRP and install Supersu.

Yes,my device was encrypted but it didn't ask for any password. I restored a backup i had but it doesn't allow me to change the encryption in the security settings.

Hi dudes! Im trying to find a way to install Monthly Updates without loose the root and the custom recovery, some body can tell me how? Because im really want update to Oreo but i want be root user and dont have to make a clean install system every month... exist the way? Please help.... And Thanks!
What I do is flash all the updated partition images individually using "fastboot flash", then let it boot and settle for a few minutes (at the very least until the "performing updates" notification completes).
I then reboot into bootloader and from there boot into TWRP (without installing it) using "fastboot boot twrp.img" and then reinstall Magisk zip. None of Magisk's settings or modules are lost by doing it this way.
If you uninstall Magisk before updating the system, you risk losing its settings.
You can use Flashfire.

Now it is competible with magisk and if you want magisk instead of supersu on installation process you can disabel the installation of supersu and ad magisk to flash afterwards. you can also use the factory images or full ota zips from googles website.
Yes, you can use TWRP's "Advanced" adb sideload feature to install Magisk zip.
"adb" only works when Android is running (or some recovery images are running). When the phone is in bootloader mode the tool you need is "fastboot".

Magisk embeds itself in the boot partition. This prevents OTA from working.
Replacing the stock recovery partition also stops OTA from working.
The only reliable way to upgrade is by flashing the partitions again from the new factory image zip file, then reinstalling TWRP and Magisk afterwards.

Sounds logic to me....
FlashFire is saying that the update will likely fail because the OTA update is a block level update. Suggestions on how to get around this?

The method which I know is, boot in TWRP, once you have decrypted, and open file manager then, open internal or root/system storage, if you can see legible names that means you are decrypted. It should remain that way every time you reboot.

You're on path "/root", that folder is probably empty.
System path is just "/" . Can you see names in internal storage on TWRP?
The fact that /root is readable means that you're decrypted. Otherwise all the names would be somewhat like "awscysrycsy"
i messed up again and now i am in trouble bro cause of xposed, now twrp installed but if i format the data and factory reset the phone, it shows this

You can flash TWRP two ways, either directly from an existing TWRP install, using the linked TWRP.img file. Or you can flash using Odin and the TWRP.tar file.
You will need a custom kernel with dm-verity disabled to be able to boot up afterwards. You will also need to disable encryption and format data to be able to read from the sdcard (encryption isn't supported).
The flashing process is as follows.
Get yourself onto stock Pie firmware, using Odin to flash the complete package. Before proceeding. Boot up and make sure you have OEM unlock switch and its activated.
1. Boot into Download mode and Flash TWRP (Download) using Odin (use AP)
2. Immediately boot into TWRP after flashing takes place, hold vol up and power.
3. Format data partition (wipe/format data)
4. Reboot recovery
5. Copy WETA Kernel + Encryption disabler + Magisk zip to device. - (Download Kernel - Encryption disabler)
6. Flash WETA Kernel + Encrypt disabler + Magisk zip.
7. Boot up system, if it hangs on Samsung logo after 3min perform hard reboot.
8. Connect to internet and go to dev settings and check oem unlock is present before any rebooting.
** Custom kernel is universal for all bootloader v4 firmware.

Some things to note:
0. Requirements are:
USB Cable (Samsung Tab S4 default cable recommended)
A computer where Odin works (ie. my AM4 X370 Ryzen 7 system did not work, maybe some driver issue?)
Best is to put encryption disabler & Kernel onto the micro SD card in the Tab S4 already, you can flash from SD card in TWRP!
1. Flash TWRP in AP slot - beware if you did not untick Auto Reboot, it will immediately restart and you miss 2.
2. Hold those buttons before the vibration kicks in, otherwise you are too late
4. I couldn't do that from TWRP itself for some reason (it just shut off), but button combo worked perfectly
5. [Edit] Do that before hand, I recommend the micro SD card you can put into the Tab S4
6. I flashed encryption disabler (V2) first, then you have to flash the kernel image, flash it to BOOT!
7. Don't just wait 3 min, my Tablet booted after 10 min without issue! I had this before aswell, you just need to give it more time!
Question: Can I update Magisk with this?

Hey Can someone please find out a supported Viper4android for OP7T.
Installing through magisk gives a bootloop
Installing drivers directly through the Viper4android app too gives a Bootloop
Already tried the existing method updated on xda for getting Viper4android to work on android 10. Unfortunately it gives a bootloop too.
I've been racking my brain trying to find a solution, have yet to find one. All thus far end in bootloop.
Not giving up hope.

I am not sure, I just thought if you've factory reset to remove the bootloop, I guess you have nothing to lose if you try this one. If that's not the case, you're in the same boat as me, not wanting to risk a factory reset in case it doesn't work. Not having a recovery really sucks...

This should be able to flash in EXKM or Franco kernel Manager. It zip uses anykernel which makes be believe it only modifies the boot image. If I'm correct, you should be able to restore with just flashing stock boot.

I've tried that and it didn't work for me unfortunately. (Getting viper to work)
Sent from my OnePlus7TPro using XDA Labs
I tried to install viper4android as well, I should have researched this thing first.
Here is my story so far:
the module did not seem to do anything.
Installed the apk, which wanted to install drivers, I finally gave in and allowed it to install.
After a reboot the device rebooted to fastboot, hit start.
Device goes back to fasstboot (does not reach bootanimation, then restarts to fasstboot)
Clearing cache from Recovery did not help.
No TWRP, full SE Linux and no way to mount those secured filesystems
So I tried booting the unpatched boot image, this works, my phone is not dead yay.
-> flashed unpatched boot.img, phone able to boot again, but no root
Opened Magisk manager, repatched a stock boot image,
20.2 a6e62e07 (20102)
Tried booting:
-> patched with safe mode (not sure what this does), hangs at fasstboot mode screen, force turn off
-> patched without safe mode, restarts to fasstboot
I can boot the test-TWRP, but I could not find anything relevant to either extract or replace / disable.
I tried finding a way to flag something so that Magisk would not try to load the viper module
The only logs I could find were related to the TWRP boot, so I cant see what error might be causing this.
I flashed the OTA 10.0.4 again in the hopes it would unpatch whatever the viper install did.
Luckily I got to keep data, but now I fear there might be something lingering somewhere...
Anyone have any advice on what to try next?
Is a factory reset really the only way to get back Magisk?

Try to boot (not Flash) the magisk core-only image from this post :

Then uninstall the V4A module and reflash your magisk patched boot.

I'm so sorry. I don't have a 7T yet so I was not able to test. According to a 7T pro thread it is because of post-fs-data that viper causes the phone to go to fastboot. So i removed the lines in there that lead to post-fs-data but it still crashes.
EDIT: Forgot to add that you may need to change your selinux to permissive before installing the module. Use this app.

It's not working because you are just modifying the installed module, not the actual installer, which we do not have the source code of.
If anyone is interested, follow this to create your custom recovery. Then you can remove the post-fs-data via adb from the recovery.

I am pretty sure the installer is open source. It is called Unity. And I did modify the installer. Post-fs-data is magisk file that loads a script on boot. In the case of the OP7T, this script causes it to crash to fastboot. I'm pretty sure the only reason it didn't work for the other user was because their selinux was enforcing instead of permissive.
