I have set up a Surface Book 2, 15"; it works quite nice however, even though the wi-fi is working as I can browse sites on firefox, update apps via Google Play or ping IPs via the terminal, some applications, including Bliss Updater fails with "Failed to connect to server. Please try again later!".
Thank you in advance!

Does anyone here do their personal online banking via HSBC?
If so you probably have the same problem I do. They have a 2 password logon system that requires a typed password AND a password entered via a virtual keyboard that you need to enter with your mouse-pointer. I think it's a flash based keyboard. I've tried Opera and IE Mobile with flash-lite as well as the hacked "full" macromedia/adobe flash installed with SPhelper as the mouse emulator. So far no luck.
Is there a way around the problem?

Skyfire may be a possibility. I am reserved about doing anything with skyfire because of the security implications.
I just checked that out and it does look like it would work, however after reading the user agreement I don't think it would be wise to use Skyfire for anything remotely sensitive. I don't think I even want to log into my yahoo email with it considering they're monitoring and archiving everything you do through their server. It's a shame cuz it's really a great UI and it's very fast. Of course that's because it's not really "the web" - it's sort of like a live stream of the web from their server. It sort of feels like using remote desktop and controlling another computer's mouse pointer.
Great way to browse full page websites quickly though. (But banking appear's to be out of the question unless you're account has around 20 bucks or less in it )
Been using GoToMyPC with a xv6800 but now my Verizon HTC Touch Pro 2 doesn't connect.
I am able to log on and view my list of computers, but when I try to connect I get this error message: 'gotomypc%2dstart[1]' is not a valid Pocket PC application.
I've tried both Internet Explorer and Opera.
I tried GoToMyPC tech support but they were no help. Infact even after they went to the HTC website for phone specs. they kept telling me I need and don't have a stylus. Very funny stuff! Too bad I love their program.
Any ideas?
LogMeIn and Remote Desktop work, and they're free!
-It might be something to do with the IE/PIE being picked up by their servers, use the toggle cab to try both and see if that helps
Thanks for the advice! I'll keep working on it.
I hate to pay for GoToMyPC but it works the best with a program I must use. It's super easy and fast to toggle back and forth between custome size views.
Plus it works great to play internet poker...
Solution
An older version of P.I.E. solved my problem
I am new to Android & would really like to us my A7 to access both online hosted Streaming Video (movies & TV shows) as well as host my DVDs on my internal network.
I had hoped to use Netflix but research on the web indicates that isn't a go on Android without newer, possibly embedded hardward based, DRM solutions. I did see a post about Amazon and RockPlayer but not really much else to go on.
Can people reply and indicate what are the best Streaming Video sites (& client being used to access those sites) for the A7? If you need to use one for movies & one for TV shows please list multiple...
Can people also reply with more insight on how they are hosting & consuming their own DVD collections? Specifically I would like to know:
What did they use to rip their DVDs?
Where do they host them (off a PC? a NAS?, etc)?
What client do they use on the Android A7 to access them?
What protocol (NFS?,CIFS?,SFTP?,etc) does the A7 use to access their DVDs?
For reference I have multiple options available to me at home inclucing RedHat Enterprise Linux & a few other flavors, Win 7, Win XP, and a central NAS device.
tv shows
for tv shows I like (tv shows stream) from the market
Playon seems to work well for me and it will let you stream Netflix and other sites kinda expensive 5amonth or 80 for a lifetime.

When I get back from Spring Break I want to try Playon. I don't like the idea of another subscription but it seems really flexible. It might also allow me to watch Hulu through my bluray player (which stopped supporting it) so that is a big plus... Being able to centralize all of that to a central computer and shoot it to my TV, laptop, and Android A7 would be great.
The Netflix.apk is available as beta for Android. I installed on my A7 and can manage my account, queue and search. When I launch a live stream of instant movies it says can not connect to Netflix servers please try again.
My research is that they won't allow netflix to natively run on Android without some Digital Rights Management (DRM) capabilities (currently too open) built into. Some Android device makers may be releasing some newer models that allow for this and the native netflix should work for them but maybe never for us if it is a hardware based implementation...
That being said, the Netflix over playon seems to be working OK for me as I went ahead and set it up before traveling for Spring Break... Both Netfilx & hulu worked fine on my home LAN and was working OK on my hotel WIFI for a few hours but isn't for some reason right now.
I need to replace my home router so that I can take the current router with me as it turns my 3g/4g USB device into a personal portable WiFi (kinda like a geeky MIFI). Currently that router uses both my DSL & USB cellular data card together at home and I didn't have time to do that before I left and if I took it with me my home would have been down and I wouldn't be able to serve playon from home while traveling...
Tv.com also works well on these devices

hi guys!
I was a backer for OUYA project because I wanted to replace a chinese device I bouhgt long time ago. Basically that device had a mini linux on it with a transmission client running as a service. It was possible to conect via web to the client and add torrent files into it. very easy but the fallback was that the device often got stuck, it was not able to manage several downloads at once...so I heard about OUYA!!
An android console that it will let install any APK. immediately I saw the opportunity of replacing my chinese device....until here my story.
Now with my OUYA, on top of the games, I run XMBC to see the movies that I downloaded using aTorrent Pro or uTorrent, both sideloaded without any issue. For the subtitles I use Subtitle Droid Pro. Everything kind of works, the three apps are not really prepared for the ouya controller but you can use the touch area to control them. but in order to look for a movie becomes a nightmare typing with the screen keyboard using the controller... and this is exactly the step I would like to improve if possible. Basically the steps will be the following.
Turn on the OUYA and run the torrent client with web interface
take my laptop, look for the torrent files
upload them using the web interface
OUYA downloads them in peace and quiet.
Did someone find a solution for that?
Thanks a lot in advance.

have you tried Blue Board?
install it on ouya from the play-store and your android-phone from the play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alienmantech.blue_board_tablet&hl=de
then you can use your phone as keyboard for the ouya.
nice solution but it doesnt seem to work for me. I have a new Nexus 7 .
I first set buetooth in ouya to be discoverable and I paired the two devices succesfully.
But when I try to connect to it it always says:
Unable to connect:read failed, socket might closed or timeout, read set -1
do you have any idea what could be the issue?
thanks!
You can use something like droidmote client/server or a bluetooth keyboard as the logitech dinovo mini.
hey, working on that too!
just mounted my 3tb with paragon's ntfs tool! works like a charm!
xbmc gotham alpha8 for dts playback.
and u should use the mobile xbmc remote for some options!
now working on samba share for the 3tb and the transmisson solution with working webinterface!
cheers
I use this: OUYA in StockPlus (for the Cifs support) + Mount Manager (play store) + Time Capsule 3T + MELE f 10 pro control ($30) + uTorrent

I posted the reply below on the thread about the file server.
In addition to below you could have your remote downloads automatically transfer over FTP to the OUYA using GoodSync (google it).
In essence you would remotely start your torrents to download onto a PC, then goodsync would send those files to your OUYA USB drive.
Personally i don't do this because I like to rname and clean up the downloads first before putting them in my library.
I've tried nearly all the set-ups above but the one I find most reliable uses ES File Explorer. No need for root or anything else.
Sideload ES File Explorer
Open ES File Explorer
Go to Remote Manager, under tools
Go to Settings (for remote manager)
Turn off 'Close on exit'
Set root directory as your external USB drive connected to the OUYA
Exit settings, and turn on WLAN
I then use an Filezilla to transfer all my downloaded files from my Desktop directly to the correct folder locations on the USB drive connected to the OUYA. I get really solid speeds on the transfer between the two devices.
I can then leave the OUYA in XBMC mode, while being able to transfer any downloads very quickly to the USB drive whenever I want.
Note: I found this worked best when OUYA was connected via wi-fi. Ethernet was problematic

Oi, i kno this is old, but you can actually download the magnet link .torrent archive instead of running it, then upload them to dropbox and open them from your ouya, that way you can do it
so for eg file linked says theres no internet connection, clearly there is as my main firestick home page loads as well as i can search on the web, and network shows excellent signal strenght, i get errors on all of my other apps as well as the title says tried resetting the stick to factor default and still the same.
any thoughts before it goes in the trash oh and i noticed i have to captcha any time i try to download something off downloader and the captcha's dont work
its happening on my pc as well both windows 10 and arch linux. scanned windows with 2 virus scanners found nothing
