[help][splash screen - boot logo][redmi note 8] - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

I need a help.
Where is the Boot Logo (Splash Screen) located in the Redmi Note 8?
The device shows "Unlocked" in splash screen after the bootloader has been unlocked. So I wanted to change the splash screen. I tried flashing new splash.img to both:
/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/splash
and
/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/logo
But, its not working. I have already generated a new custom splash.img for my device. I am currently using PixysOs (Android 10) Custom ROM.
It would be helpful if anyone gives the location of the splash screen.

So which is the boot logo (not the boot animation stored in /system/media or /system/product/media).
In some devices it can be changed. Is there no way to remove the "Unlocked" text? Why does Xiaomi shows "Unlocked" while booting?
I found a guide to remove Unlocked text on the Redmi Note 5

Xiaomi in newer devices like redmi note 8, mi A3 etc etc has included splash screen in the bootloader itself.... hence no way of modifying it... older devices like redmi note 7 and other devices had splash.img in
/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/splash
or
/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/logo
but not with newer devices.

I am using Custom ROM and Recovery and I want to keep bootloader unlocked.
Only some OEMs show "Unlocked", most OEMs don't show this. I have used custom ROMs in many devices.

Can advanced users modify the bootloader or only Xiaomi?

you'd need to compromise the trustzone beforehand...your best bet is to bribe the guy with the secure boot keys....you'd probably have to bribe someone at qualcomm too, because it might be double-signed.

After a firmware update to the latest version, the Splash screen has changed. Now the unlocked text is gone but a unlock sign is present at the top. "Powered by Android" came. Better than older one.

If you can get the pictures you can make your own splash.img.

I don't know how easy it is to extract images from a splash.img...

The splash.img is the "guaranty is void" or the "android one" ?
Will flashing splash.img prevent the OTAs?
Thanks

It's more of a warning that you are doing something outside the normal.
A custom splash does not prevent OTAs.

The point of the unlocked message is to allow people to easily identify unlocked phones. Service centres want this for warranty purposes. End users users want this to identify modified phones (like those reflashed redmi pro 5s people are getting).
Previous phones I've had did not allow splash flashing so you couldn't remove the message.
This phone let's me have a dark splash (and a dark bootanim) so reboots don't blind me
You possibly need to have an unlocked bootloader to flash the splash. I didn't try this until I was unlocked.

Splash image is the screen warning (I guess you did unlock it) and the blinding Android One screen is the bootanimation.

You don´t have to target to any of the slots in the case of splash just flash it through fastboot using
Code:
fastboot flash splash splash.img

Question Lock the boot loader after flashing the signed boot image

I have installed custom ROM (lineage os) for one-plus 9 pro android device. I have unlocked the boot-loader and changed the boot-animation image.
Now I want to lock the boot-loader again to get rid of annoying message that comes at the start. In order to lock the boot-loader , I have to flash the signed boot image .
I am struggling to find the steps required to sign the boot image.
I have tried some post but it did not work.
Appreciate if someone can help me?
Re-locking the bootloader forces to run device's Stock ROM only.

It is possible by editing your logo.IMG or logo.bin file (you can backup your logo partition using any tool like partition backup and restore on playstore)
It is not possible to get rid of that message of an unlocked bootloader.
That message is part of the secure boot process and happens long before boot animation. That message is part of the bootloader itself.
When you flash a ROM you do not flash the bootloader.
The only way to get rid of that message is with a signed bootloader that doesn't display it. That does not exist. If you have an unlocked bootloader, you live with the message.

I seriously doubt this. The warning is a part of aboot itself and has nothing to do with the splash.img or logo.img you're referring to.
Ways around this in the past were done by hex editing aboot to set the delay of the warning to 0-1 seconds, that way it essentially just skips it. But that hasn't been done since OP3 series afaik.

Redmi note 8 pro running on Chinese rom

Hello, so my friend got a redmi note 8 pro Chinese variant and I want to install pixel experience or atleast global rom but I tried through MI flash tool and it keeps saying Length cannot be less than zero even when the phone is in fastboot mode.
Also when I tried to install with flash_all bat the phone kept restarting again and again.
Which recovery do I install in redmi note 8 pro? Or how do I atleast switch to global rom since MI flash tool isn't working (I've tried every version possible)

By sp flash tool if you want Miui fastboot. But if you do something weird, you will lose your IMEI (A few Youtube guides make you lose your IMEI too) or brick. Or by Twrp (if you not follow guide you maybe stuck at Redmi logo), flash Miui recovery rom or PE+ rom (need miui 12.5.x, need follow their guide or hardbrick). Or you can pm me and i will help. Flash the ROM that came with your device (you can switch for any but the Chinese) using Mi Flash tool and check the option "Flash all & Lock".
Also, you can re-lock it using fastboot command, either fastboot oem lock or fastboot flashing lock will work BUT you have to be completely sure there’s nothing "custom" onto your device prior to re-lock it otherwise you could brick it.

Boot your phone to fastboot, connect the phone to your PC, check for windows update, and click on optional update then chose Google drivers.
