MIUI 12 Global EU released - V12.0.1.0.QJOEUXM - Redmi Note 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

Just spotted it here - https://bigota.d.miui.com/V12.0.1.0...AGlobal_V12.0.1.0.QJOEUXM_2d4c4ea52d_10.0.zip
Linked to on this page https://www.xda-developers.com/down...ing-out-several-xiaomi-redmi-mi-poco-devices/
Just installed it on my RN9 (M2003J15SG) through the system updater
All went smoothly - on first boot the features demo was very janky, but once I skipped through that it's been fine - just exploring now

Same here
Also by normal updater

Once you've downloaded the file follow the Local Update Method described well here by @fabianowerner https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83179675&postcount=8

Why on earth would you want to do that?
It's the same firmware - why adapt the wrong version to use on your phone when you can use the right one?

V12.0.2.0.QJOEUXM just dropped
Available on the page linked to in the first post

Hang on, I'm pretty sure M2003J15SS is the global version. Don't update with this firmware - this is for the EU version

Yes, thanks. I find the global version.

Will I get an official update from Xiaomi after installing this ROM manually?

Excuse me, how do I know if I use the global, china or eu rom? Thanks in advance

I've got the update downloaded into the correct folder but when I use the "choose update package" it gives me the option to locate with Google Drive or Flipboard!! Any idea how this has happened and how to fix it?

Check either your model number or the stock ROM currently on your device
You can see both of these by going to settings > about phone > all specs
The model number is listed there, as is the current ROM
My MIUI version, for example, is
MIUI global
12.0.2Stable
12.0.2.0(QJOEUXM)
So I have the Global EU variant.
There are also Global, Chinese and Russian ROMs - could be others for all I know
My model number is M2003J15SG - this is the EU 4/128gb variant with NFC
The different models are each compatible with particular firmware variants

Yes - you're not rooting, unlocking the bootloader or anything like that, so there shouldn't be any problems later

Just a guess, but I think it uses whichever file explorer is set as your default (so when I go to "choose update package" it defaults to the MIUI file explorer and gives me options of internal or external storage)
Might you have uninstalled this, so it's now giving you the option of either of those apps to find your update package? Suggest you install a basic file explorer (CX or something) and do the same thing again, then opt to use that to browse to and select the update package
Or just leave it in the correct folder on your phone (is it downloaded_rom or something like that?)

i've got the Updater finding the downloaded Miui 12 file but now it won't install because it can't verify the Update. It's the correct EU version.

Are you absolutely sure you shouldn't be updating with one of the other update ROMs? Maybe the global one?
If you're definitely coming from the EU Global MIUI 11, try downloading the MIUI 12 update again. Occasionally updates corrupt while downloading - guessing the installer runs a hash check before installing. Always possible that's the problem
If this doesn't help and noone else comes up with a solution, just sit tight - you'll likely get the correct update served to you sometime soon

Right file for right device - think I'll sit it out and wait as you suggest.

Latest firmware should be B116 - as far as I understand the Huawei firmware numbers.

I guess B115SP04 is just an improvement of B115, like CM10.1.3 for CM10.1. And B116 is a higher version with maybe additional functions, like CM10.2 instead of CM10.1.

The second one is for the T model P6, not the U06 model, the two aren't interchangeable on firmware. You can flash the European/International or Chinese ROMs onto the U model but if you look at the firmware version they both start with the correct U branding.
e.g.
First link - P6-U00_EmotionUI_1.6_V100R001C17B116SP01.zip - OK
Second link P6-T00_EmotionUI_1.6_V100R001C01B115SP02.zip - won't work on U06 model.

B116 and B111 are both stable - Huawei have gone for really strange version numbering. B111 is the international ROM (comes with Google apps, no Chinese apps), B116 is the Chinese version (still English text but no Google apps unless you add them yourself and a few Chinese apps). They should have gone for I000 for international ROM numbering and C000 for Chinese or something else logical in my opinion.
For what it's worth, I'm running B116SP01 as my daily driver with no complaints. Rooted, Chinese apps removed, Google apps restored. I had some problems when I installed it by running the update from within Android but none when reflashed using the forced recovery method.

None of the Chinese version ROMs have the Google framework - my post here lists the different version numbers and whether they're a Chinese or international release.
As long as you're rooted, it's pretty easy to get them up and running - I just backed them up from the most recent international install and restored them onto the Chinese version. If you do an upgrade from within a running international version to the Chinese one then it seems to carry your apps over anyway. I did have a few problems when I upgraded like this though and ended up doing a recovery wipe/restore to get everything behaving.
Make sure you have an .apk version of your root app manager of choice on your SD card ready to sideload after flashing then you can just restore the necessary google apps as a system app and get the Play store up and running and install everything else.

Hello.
It's possible to install an international rom in a T?
Thanks.

Move from V11.0.3.0.PGGEUXM to V11.0.6.0.PGGMIXM, possible?

My device seems to be Europe due to the default OS that came with the device, I have never unlocked the bootloader or done changes to the ROM, however I'd like to move to Global because it's said to have differences among the EUROPE version? If so, how and if I can move to the global version?

There's a OTA for 11.0.2.0 to up to 11.0.6.0. Two ways to install:
1 via TWRP wiping dalvik cache, cache, data, system and flash.
2 regret MIUI 11.0.2.0 via fastboot like mine video:

Words of advise, just do not attempt to do anything without UNLOCKING YOUR BOOTLOADER FIRST!!
You simply cannot switch regions before taking that first preliminary step.
That's the way it goes.
Hope this helps,

I asked the same question, because i am on the global euro firmware, and my phone is not detecting my NAVIGO transit card through NFC. I was wondering if the global international was better regarding this matter.
I've moved from EEA to GLOBAL with Xiaomitool 2, it changes my firmware to 11.0.2 GLOBAL without unlocking the bootloader, and then I manually push the full upgrade through the update app. Then I restore my phone for a full restoration.
Working smooth without issues.

When I am unsure what the real differences are because I think HW is the same for both Global and Eu phones, I am pretty sure Laws regarding privacy of users are more strict in EU and there are probably some alteration of bundled software to abide with them.
Those privacy laws are the main reason why neither of those Roms have default MIUI dialer + recording and Messaging, because Xiaomi collects quite a lot of data. Not saying Google does not, but they already had to abide with those Rules and Regulations, so was probably way easier to bundle default android apps, rather than patching their own apps and doing so ending up having 2 versions of the same app.
Besides that, I am pretty curious too what really are the difference between EEA and Global versions with same number. Of course if we compare two different versions of MIUI, we will always find something different.
I am not sure where we can find an official info.
UPDATE:
As I was suspecting looks like main differences are related to ads and how/what datas can be collected or not.
From this post here where users were speaking about it too, differences seems to be summarized to those main differences:
EEA is a Global Rom specially designed for Europe - which basically is just saying they are taking GDPR seriously. You won't get ads and you will need to accept a prompt on every instance where they would collect data (unlike standard Global one).
Global ROM:
This is the official worldwide ROM for all countries except China
The Global ROM has also a Beta Program
The Global ROM receives updates every 1 to 2 months
EEA ROM:
This ROM was specifically designed for EU countries
During the first setup, one can disable all ads inside Mi Apps globally, whereas in the Global ROM, one needs to do that in the Apps themselves
The EEA ROM doesn't have a Beta program
Updates seem to be slower

Hope this helps and is accurate.

Use xiaomitool v2 to change from EEA to global stable.
Just search it at xda forum, download it, and follow the instruction o both screen, PC and phone.
I had change the rom without unlocking the bootloader, no problems at all. But do it with your own responsability. I made it following the instructions from the forum of the Xiaomi Mi 9, that someone make it without unlocking bootloader. So I think than on ours phone, it was the same thing.
I delete my gmail account and the rest of account, then I follow the instruction. Clickin on My phone works correctly and i want to mod it, when Xiaomitool v2 ask me what i want to do. Then, click on global, the program itself download global rom 11.0.2 and then install via fastboot. Then i initialised the phone, put the full update global 11.0.6 zip in the phone storage, then go to update app, touch ten times miui 11 logo, and then, tap on the tree dots, manual upgrade, select the update zip. The phone installa the update and you will get your Redmi Note 8 Pro EEA 11.0.3 rom moved to Redmi Note 8 Pro GLOBAL 11.0.6.

Personally after I have debloated the phone using Saki tools (I was not aware of that 'option' to disable ads within the settings) I dont get those MIUI ads everywhere. Of course that does not remove the 'Free' applications ads from the 3rd party application you may install (freemium games and such). Adaway might deal with those, or patch of culprit app with Luckpatcher or such. Or just dont install Adware apps.
I also did not really read what was asked of me when I first started the phone, but as a general rule I answer NO to every thing
For example an other girl friend of mine, who has no computer skills and just started the phone out of the box gets ads everywhere.
An other example the MIUI app installer, which I thought was essential to run the OS, adds ads for every apk installation. You get rid of that, you fall back on regular android stock installer and it has no ads.
Basically all MIUI apps shipped with the phone en EEA has ads. So if you have no use for them, get rid off them.
Once you have removed/disabled all of those, you'll get considerably less ads showing for sure
Hope this helps.

Either install the global ROM (with a factory reset) or wait a couple of days - EU ROM comes with a slight delay after the global version (if there are no major issues).

You should not lose your warranty (at least in Europe bootloader unlocking won't void it).
I would suggest you to make yourself familiar with flashing in general (adb, fastboot, tools, rom formats etc.) before you attempt something.
Recovery Android 11 EU ROM, flashing from TWRP works fine. Notification LED is finally clearly visible with the latest ROM.

Good news but UK still with 12.0.8.0 (QJSEUXM)...
Try Switch Region to france and you´ll get 12.0.9.0 . At least in Germany it works.
But it is only a very small Update.

It was the same for me, so I just flashed recovery ROM from TWRP (at first from 12.0.8.0 to 12.0.9.0 and then to 12.0.1.0). It should work with locked bootloader and stock recovery as well (some extra steps like renaming file to "update.zip" and putting it to the root of SD card, or using ADB sideload might be necessary).

I think the A11 EEA Recovery ROM got released but you have to be a Beta tester? Something to do with pilots lol
So hopefully that means there will be a full 11 rollout soon
I thought that EU Andoid 11 version is stable, but it seems to be really only beta as mentioned on 4pda. There are some misalignments in message notifications and phone crashed quite nastily once (had to reboot it 5 times until it finally fully started). RAM usage seems to be a bit too high as well resulting in more app redraws/reloads than necessary. I hope that fixed version will be out soon.
And the very same file is out as official "beta stable" now..

From what I understood how Xiaomi does the updates:
1. at first there is internal beta
2. after successful internal testing, it goes to closed beta
3. after closed beta it goes to public beta
4. if there are no (major) issues, the very same version is released to public in batches as "stable beta" (recovery ROM)
5. if there are no (major) issues, the very same version is released to public in batches as "stable" and fastboot ROM is released as well
So I believe that what we've seen is that "public beta" V12.0.1.0.RJSEUXM became "stable beta" and will transition to "stable" in the coming weeks. However when exactly is it going to hit your phone is impossible to tell, they chose phones by country + some random parameters. Manual installation is probably the best way how to have the latest ROM version.

Exactly this version is now arriving on my German stock phone as an OTA update today. The phone is new and I had never participated in any beta program or anything like that. Thus it should be stable production right now. Is this true?
Did I get this right? Xiaomi is not differentiating beta-version numbers from stable version numbers? In other words: I cannot differentiate the release train between a beta and a stable channel from looking at the version number?
Thank you!

Yes, it seems to be considered as a "stable" now.
And yes, there is no difference in the version number between beta/stable. ROM is not being re-released, it's always the same ROM with the same download link and with the same hash. Beta/stable beta/stable is just a naming convention which changes over time. There is no special beta channel in a traditional sense as you might be used to from PC/ mobile applications.

Thank you, _mysiak_! This is more clear now.
What is disappointing for me is, that now, after I have thoroughly decided to install the OTA update, it has disappeared again and is no longer found by the Xiaomi updater. How strange.
Maybe there were bugs and it is set back to beta status?
You probably never know the algorithms how Xiaomi distributes updates...
Maybe they just save bandwidth right now. ;-)

I've read exactly that explanation - if you don't install the update when it's received, your "slot" is released after few hours/days and offered to someone else. It is supposed to save bandwidth and prevent overload of Xiaomi servers. But I have no idea if it's really true..
So the update will shortly be arriving now as stable update via phone updater. If someone has a link when it arrives you should put it here

Question RM 6 Pro: unable to switch to Global ROM V425 using official method

I'm trying to install the Global ROM V425 using the official method given on Nubia's website, but it's not working. If anyone can help me solve the problem, I'll be so grateful!
I downloaded V425 from the official download page and copied the NX669J-update.zip file to the root directory of the phone, then tried to do the update as follows:
Settings >> System Update >> ... >> Local update >> select the file >> Only install
After about 10 seconds, I got this error:
Upgrade package and the current phone version does not match, can not be updated, please check the current version is obtained from the official channel
I'm not sure what to do now, and having seen that error message I'm now afraid that if I try any other method for the update I might brick the phone, since I've already been warned that the software is not compatible.
The current software version is NX669J_CNCommon_V7.14 and when I checked for updates I got a message telling me the current version is the latest.
Phone info...
Model: NX669J-P
Red Magic OS: V4.5
Build number: NX669J_CNCommon_V7.14
Android version: 11
Hardware version: NX669J_V1AMB
Thanks for reading and I hope you can help!

UPDATE: I noticed that in the About Phone section the device name is "腾讯红魔游戏手机6Pro" which translates to "Tencent Red Magic Game Phone 6Pro".
Seems it might be the Tencent version of the phone. Could this be the reason I'm getting the error message? Is it possible to put the Global ROM on the Tencent version?
Hi,
I am originally using global version with the latest updated v4.25 rom since September and i think you are using the tencent set with CN rom installed on your device. Why would you change to global? Is it cooler with CN rom? I bet you will regret you will lose so many features that you can get on CN if you are migrating to the Global rom.
The main reason is that the phone's current ROM doesn't have Google apps/services
Is it possible to sideload Google apps onto this device with current ROM or the only way is to flash global ROM?

If i am not mistaken, you can download the PlayStore from apkpure website - https://m.apkpure.com/google-play-store/com.android.vending and start to use Google application afterwards once successfully installed on the CN rom device you are using.
Thanks a lot - maybe I have been overcomplicating this issue! Will check and see if j can get it installed

That's fine. But some Google apps will not working at all eg like Gmail or Google Duo (i am not very sure exactly) because it still recognise your device status. You may check one by one any Google apps downloaded from the PlayStore later

Believe me, you won't want to. The update has been pulled. It still has so many bugs. Biggest problem for me, I was curious that it, and updated, A12 currently has no local update option. Means roll back is not possible, only with the MSM tool. Then it starts all over with rooting again.

you can download and install this system update apk from oneplus and it gives you the options to rollback. But be aware rolling back will wipe your device.

You can you the apk on ColorOS to rollback also.

Which bugs are you facing?
Yup, and i've been using it for a month now.
I updated to A12 in Dec when the first OTA was pushed. I had too many issues even after the first 2 patches, downgraded back to OOS11 and never been happier.
I'm waiting for 10pro to launch so I can update to OOS12 then

I played around so much, that I don´t remember everything now. Some apps didn´t work. I think, but I´m not sure, I had problems with Viper4Android. Or it was Youtube vanced. Sorry, I really forgot.
Certain setting options had been missing for me or were no longer where you would have expected them to be. I also missed the local upgrade, but that problem has been solved in the meantime (I was not well informed). I was also not happy with the UI, but that is not a bug but a matter of taste.
In sum, not so dramatic, but my evaluation has coincided with those of other forum members. Does not mean that I am right. I'm happy to be corrected.
How is the general satisfaction with A12 here?
A few months back when they started pushing Android 12 I was eager to try it and so I used "Oxygen Updater" from the play store to download a full stable version of android 12 but i accidentally downloaded the Indian version. I had so many bugs on it, but then I used the same app (oxygen updater) to switch to the EU version and my phone worked perfectly with no bugs or anything. I have now switched to Pixel Experience rom and wifi is not working so I may go back to Oxygen 12. But yeah if you have bugs on Oxygen 12 then use Oxygen Updater and download a new version to flash and your bugs may vanish.
Enjoy
I was curious about A12 and gave it a second try after cleaning up everything.
Does Viper4Android work? Just trying with a fix but not sure if it will work.
The next thing is that file manger doesn´t appear in Magisk, when u want to install a module from internal storage.
At least Youtube Vanced is working now.
BTW, post above is ColorOS 12

Another question: how to us the "OnePlus 9/9Pro Rollback APK". It´s a zip file. Unpacking shows now apk file. Flashing through kernel manager of course not possible. Sorry, don´t find a way to install.
Second try of A12 was not satisfying. When I use the MSM Tool I´ve to re-root again....
Edit: renamed the file to apk at the end. Did it once without success, don´t know why. Now it works
Hope you figured it out. If you haven't.
- download appropriate downgrade package and move it to the root folder of your phone.
- download and install https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/OPLocalUpdate_For_Android12.apk
on your devices... this allows you to access local upgrade... if your phone doesn't install a shortcut you can keep reinstalling it every time you need it
- open OPLocalUpdate_For_Android_12.apk click gear in top left corner and install the downgrade package you put in the root directory
You can also use the local update to install other OxygenOS12/ColorOS12 packages. I just went from C.36(Global) -> C.38(EU) -> C.46(ColorOS12) then rolled back because MMS is broken at C.44 all variants of both OSs and above... at least for me.

Thanks, my problem was that I didn´t know that I have to rename the files. Many thanks!
Personally, I'm pretty satisfied with the C44 update for OxygenOS 12, stable and smooth, as intended. But yes, the first updates were messy.
For having given a try to ColorOS 12 too, OxygenOS 12 gave me a better experience on the OnePlus 9 Pro: less throttling in games and less bloated.
If we get a ColorsOS C44 EU (which should be far more debloated than its Chinese counterpart) that isn't making games throttle, then I'll surely jump into the wagon, but for now, OxygenOS 12 remains the better option if you want an Android 12 official experience for your phone.
