Hello guys
I bought a Tab Pro 8.4 T325 yesterday and I am very happy with it generally apart from it's minor software glitches, but I have a question. Where can I find the Smart Remote app ? Isn't it installed by factory ? Do I have to download it from somewhere ? If so, which is the best one out there ?
Thanks

If you use "Titanium Backup", you can save your settings, without the need to create a Google+ account and save them online, as the developer wants you to do.
The one that comes pre-installed is Peel Smart Remote. It is available in the Play Store. I don't know if it's the best, but my TV recognizes its code so I'm using it. I lost my remote a while back and haven't been able to find any remote that will run my TV so I'm thrilled to be able to use my tablet as a remote.
Hi
Because the full lack of information about this phone i've decide to post here a method to flash Hisense A2 using Qfil for those who have such format ROM.
So let's begin with preparation. What you will need
1. Universal android ADB driver http://adbdriver.com/downloads/
2. QPST version 2.7.438 https://archive.org/download/QPST.2.7.438
3. Appropriate ROM version for Hisense A2
(SPECIAL THANKS TO VEROWEED for it) here is link for ver 6.03.09.00 witch unclude multilanguage and Gapps. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6NNJt1rXASQM2lCV3BQdy1qeGc/view?usp=sharing
This is all. And we can begin process.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Install QPST and ADB driver , Make sure phone is atleast 50% charged ,plug phone usb to PC or Laptop , enable usb debuging on pop up menu. Now you should see it in device manage as : Android Composite ADB interface.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. On Usb menu sellect CD-ROM type of connection.
3. Open My computer check on cd roms and double click to install hisense drivers.
you should see in device manager now
4. Keep phone pluged and dial *1973461# it should open System info menu , enter in debug setting and check Auto load usb device.
5. Unplug and plug again usb to phone in device manager must be appered:
6. Now find QPST in start menu and start Qfil
7. Setup Qfil like that:
8. Press download button and wait flashing process (the phone reboot to EDL MODE black screen and flash the rom in qloader 9008 mode do not touch or unplug) .
When download succeed message appear unplug phone and reboot it mannually by pressing power button for around 10sec.
Hi @all
Better do not believe needrom.com and other pages if they say you can download a multilingual update of the firmware there.
They muck around, cheating you. Cause they just have chinese-english versions without gapps anyhow they say it is multilingual firmware including all.
This firmware may be origin, but unfortunately no international version.
I did this mistake... and had a phone, I can't use anymore after the "upgrade".
For all who did same fault, here you can download the origin and really multilingual firmware 6.03.09.00 (with all known bugs) and gapps the Hisense A2 was delivered with.
With this, you can restore your Hisense A2 back to it's origin state.
Better having some bugs than a firmware with no Google Play Store on the device and no home language on it.
After following the manual in #1, my A2 works again finally like new bought.
Thanks a lot to the thread-opener for doing this fine work.
kind regards
Veronica
Hi,
Are gapps included in Qfil flashed? Also, need to reinstall all existing apps?
Kind regards,
Edward
Hi,
QFil is just the application you need to install the ROM onto your Hisense A2.
The firmware (ROM) contains Google Play Store (with all needed components) and GMail.
After flashing your Smartphone is like bought new - empty. Just the ROM with included apps.
Thanks a lot indeed.
Hi,
glad, I could help.?
btw... having a big problem with this buggy multilingual firmware.
Beside the not opening App-Manager, the Doce-Manager won't open also (settings - battery- battery optimization), where I can exclude apps from deep sleep.
Since no app like my Whatsapp and Aquamail shows it's notifications after device is sleeping half an hour, I really need this setting-page or another option to avoid this problems by excluding this apps from doze.
Anyone a idea, what I could do? Any app availiable perhaps, to replace origin power-optimizing page or another way to open the doze-settings?
kind regards
Vero
Thanks Baistan and Vero,
The rom with gapps work fine. BTW, shall I upgrade official fireware?
Regarding deep sleep issue, you may search "memory cleanup" in setting and turn it off. Alternatively, add those apps you don't want to be frozen into 'white list' on the same panel.
Kind regards,
Edward
Hi Edward,
Thanks, but I did the settings, you suggested already.
But "WhatsApp" won't give a notification nor receive messages after device is sleeping half an hour.
What you mean with "Upgrade official fireware"? I just had offer to upgrade the "Vision-Launcher". Since I did this, "Vision-Launcher" displays a message "Upgrading..." each start of the device.
Thinking cause Root is missing, the Upgrade is installed just temporary and not static. So better leave it. Found no way to remove this upgrade to avoid the message while booting.
Hi Veto,
Maybe, you just a full page widget foe WhatsApp as a temp solution.
I may follow to upgrade the Vision Launcher too. Because its reading mode could provide a clear and better view on eink monitor.
Kind regards,
Edward
Hi Edward,
I use the Nova-Launcher, cause I like 5 icons a row on screen instead of the Vision launcher with just having 4 of them.
For the Whatsapp notifications, it seems, I found a working solution.
Beside the Power-settings you have suggested, and I already did before, it was neccesary to open WhatsApp, then tip the lower square button and open the task-manager. Here I had to push the Whatsapp-task down out of the screen. Then a lock-symbol appeared in the upper right corner of WhatsApp-task in the task-manager.
By doing this, WhatsApp notifications, sound and vibratings appears every time, independently the time the Hisense was in DeepSleep-Mode.
Works as well with my prefered mail-app AquaMail and all other apps with notifications running in background.
Now I can live with the bugs of the A2.
As Hisense told, just the english-chinese Firmware is origin by Hisense. The multilingual version is from other developers and has no support by Hisense.
So may possible this firmware will get never an update, perhaps.
Kind regards and wish a nice weekend @all.
Vero
Hi Vero,
That's great.
I have encountered another issue. Keyboard doesn't pop up when I use the eink panel, so I am only able to text on LED side. Any hints to solve this.
Have a nice weekend too!
Keep regards,
Edward
Wanted: Your Experience with Hisense A2
Hallo,
I read Your very usefull informations how to solve some problems with Hisense A2. I' m thinking about to buy such a phone. May I ask You about Your experience?
What kind of bugs did You register?
What kind of problems did You recognize?
In wich countries do You use the phone? If in Germany: Which is Your telephone-company?
How good does it work?
Can You recommend the phone?
Thanks for some informations about Your experience in advance.
Kind regards,
Rüdiger
Hi,
@Ed.chk
I only use the eink-screen for reading ebooks with using EZPDF-Reader and Moon-Reader. So I never need the keyboard on this side of the device. I open the books on the color-display and then swap to the eInk-Screen.
Thats no problem to me. Unfortunately I have no hint to avoid the problem wit the missing keyboard. Did you try different keyboards like Swift?
@rud32
I only have recogniced the problem, app-manager-Screen does not open as well the Doze-Screen won't open.
For deinstalling apps, I use TXToolbox now, what has more useful features.
A replacement for the missing Doze-Screen i havn't found. But since locking background-apps in taskmanager as described, it seems not to be a must to have access to the Doze-Screen.
Other problems I have not found.
Other users tell about watch (clock) problems - I don't have this.
I dwell in Germany, use the Hisense A2 here and in Austria (with roaming) and my provider is Congstar (a cheap daughter of Telekom).
Everything works fine. And I am really happy with this phone.
Only one really bad thing is, Samsung doessn't support this device for using The Samsung Gear-App, if own a Smartwatch by Samsung like Gear S2 or Gear S2.
I have both and unfortunately can't connect the smartwatches with the Hisense A2. So no notifications about incoming mails or WhatsApp-messages on the smartwatch. Therefor I always have to take my old smartphone in my case with me to get this notifications onto my smartwatches.
Apart from this, I really can recommend this Smartphone for everyone who want to read ebooks sometimes on road without need to carry the big eBook-reader with in case every time.
Reading eBooks on the Hisense A2 really is nearly comfortable as on a standard eBook-Reader.
I heard, in near future Hisense will offer the Hisense A2 Pro also in Europe (with support) with a little bigger displays in front and back and some more better hardware.
Info (german language):

If I had knew this 2 Month before, I had wait until this release.
Kind regards @all
Hisense a2 is ****, wait for the yotaphone 3 instead
@rud32 be wiser, don't buy it... Better wait instead for the yotaphone 3.
Previous to the Hisense A2 I had the yotaphone2 which I sold after I became frustrated that the yota3 hadn't arrived and I learned about the Hisense A2 and it's better specs.
Boy do I wish I hadn't sold my Yotaphone2....where to start?
The yotaphone2 had seamlessly integrated the functionality of the second screen to the overall use of the phone...so many ways to personalize it, so many covers, so many widgets and apps dedicated to the ink screen and thus so much functionality.
The Hisense A2 Is just a wannabe honestly. I hardly use the e-ink screen because it's so damn hard to get around it... (Successfully unlocking it on the first try is sometimes is a triumph because it either freezes or glitches)
I've had mine for about a month and the learning curve has been brutal specially because of the stupid custom ROM with vision launcher....so many bugs, (ghost touches, glitches, apps close) and So little chance to personalize...also even though I have set the language to English some parts still appear in Chinese...
There have been times I've wanted to throw it on the ground and kill it.
It's really frustrating....

Install yotaphone 2 ROM possible?
Since @baistan showed us how to restore the original ROM on our Hisense A2, I was wondering if anyone knows if it could be at all possible to "Frankenstein" the ROM from a yotaphone 2 into the Hisense A2 ?
Previous to owning the A2 I had a yota2 and boy it would be nice to somewhat have back the comfortable UI from the yotaphone in both screens.
Thank You.
Tanks for the information
@veroweed: Thanks for Your information. Meanwhile I ordered a Hisense A2 . Yesterday it arrived. My first experiences are the following:
- I ordered the phone via aliexpress in China. The device arrived within 20 days. But I had to pick it up at the customs services where I had to pay 19 % as Value Added Taxes.
- I use the phone in Germany. The provider is Telekom. Till now I had no problems whiel calling.
- I didn't change the installed ROM yet. This Software Version was installed: L1261.6.03.09.00. Here I could choose German as language. But some parts are not translated. There is some German, Englisch and the names of the ringtones are still in Chinese. But that is not really a problem. One does not need german names to test ringtones.
- The installed Clock-App is working. But the APP is immidiately closing when I change to "clock" or "timer".
- "Manage apps" (-> "Einstellungen" -> "App and permission manager") is not working.
So long,
Rüdiger
I made latest system.img and guide

Hi @all,
I already bothered joygram. I have a Yotaphone 2 and a Hisense A2. Hisense is new and was delivered with Software Version L1261.6.03.09.00, Kernel 3.18.24. To me e-ink is inferior to the Yotaphone. Joygram told me it was possible to activate "smooth" mode. I am to dumb, did not manage it by now. Pressing the home button longer? Maybe someone can give me a hint. My phone is not rooted. Developer mode and experd mode in e-ink is enabled.
Does anyone kow if there are any other wingets for the e-ink. Unfortunately i do not understand chinese (which might be a problem in the future). Otherwise the phone seems to work fine in Germany using O2/E-Plus, thanks Jens
6.03 not support smooth mode
you must use higher version.
so I made new system.img using this thread's system.img and new firmware files.

I had the same problem because I had to add a keyboard!
before switching to the E-INK you have to change the keyboard
1: open SMS or INTERNET the keyboard is displayed
2: bottom right in the corner of the screen you have a small keyboard you press it is you choose "Android Keyboard (AOSP)
3: you leave SMS or INTERNET
4: you switch to the E-INK screen and the keyboard works !!
