Here's the change log as posted on Oxygen Updater.
System
• Newly adapted OnePlus Buds, easier to take advantage of wireless connection
• Provided a variety of clock styles for you. You can customize on your own. (Go to Settings>Customization>Clock style)
• Optimized the touch experience in game mode to enhance the user experience
• Fixed the issue that the wireless charger base re-started automatically
• Fixed the ARCore failure
• Updated Android Security Patch to 2020.07
• Updated GMS package to 2020.05
• Improved system stability
Network
• Improved the performance and stability of Wi-Fi transfers
• Improved connection stability of mobile network to improve user experience

anyone have the magisk patched .12AA boot.img??

Update available for me, hopefully the AR issue is resolved

Patched 10.5.12.IN11AA boot.img
https://gofile.io/d/dCbFDY

I hope they keep randomizing the updates for EU and US, so we in the EU continue to get the new updates before the US-version does, as we saw here with .12(US) and .11(EU)

How do I update and keep root? when I go to update it says 'root is detected, system will download the entire package and root will be undone'.

I just do it the "old fashioned" way.
I download it all, copy the .zip over to the PC so I can extract the boot.img -> transfer it to the phone -> update the phone -> install magisk (if you don't already have it), and then click "install" on magisk, click patch image, pick the boot.img, transfer the file "downloads/magisk_patched.img" to the ADB-folder on your PC -> reboot the phone to fastboot -> open CMD, go to the ADB-folder -> "fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img" -> "fastboot reboot" -> now you're rooted again

Or just install update DONT reboot, install magisk to inactive slot (after OTA), reboot and your are good to go..

I don't know about you, but with this update on my IN2020 unit, I can't manage to see any remnant of green tint on my screen anymore. Before that, there was still a slight green tint, even with 10.5.11, at very low brightness. What about you? Any improvement?

Still no dual sim

See, I tried that and I don't see an option to flash it to the inactive slot....

Perform the OTA installation but don't reboot, and then...
See awesome instructions towards the end of this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8-pro/how-to/10-5-10-rooted-ota-updating-to-10-5-11-t4130715/post83023399#post83023399

Well everything blue up on me this time. I had successfully updates, preserved Magisk root, then used xXx TWRP installer, and then flashed with Kn kernel flasher to install it again. This had all worked fine before, but this time on rebooting, it would only go into TWRP and not reboot.
I stupidly feflashed the tool with TWRP, but now stuck on fastboot mode.
I hate having to go back to the beginning - so would appreciate any idea.

Yeah...starting to get annoying

Gx8 update RIO-L03567B160CUSTC567D002

A small update 136mb or so for the L03 devices, is there someone who can convert this update to a twrp friendly zip flash update? Would appreciate any help, thanks.
Do you still have this OTA file somewhere? If so can you setup a link to download it?
I think I have figured this one out

It seems like we are the only 3 people who seems to be working on this phone and this update.
So I have 2 developments:
First, I pulled the stock 136.3 mb "update.zip" file of this update and have uploaded to the following:
https://mega.nz/#!rppjnLSY!djq4xpEiiH-lLircX9DZDlIkWu0_OMSG0SYTyKaelMY
Second, I manage to successfully update to this version through trial and error by doing the following:
0. I flashed stock recovery back into my phone through Flashify and update. This didn't work.
1. I then tried updating by "unrooting" SuperSu after above step. This didn't work.
2. I followed up the above step #1 by "relocking" my bootloader through ADB. Relocking was a success but update failed. It downloads and then as it installs/reboots, once it reaches ~26%, it will say installation failed.
3. Finally, I performed a "Local Update" in the EMUI menu by dirty flashing stock RIO-L03_C567B141CUSTC567D002_Android 5.1_EMUI 3.1_United States over the version that is already on my phone by the "dload - update.app" method through my external SD card. (create folder "dload" in ext SD card and place "update.app" in the folder).
4. After completing step #3, I went back to "Settings - Updater" and tapped "Check for updates", followed the prompts and the phone successfully updated. Verified again that there are no further updates.
The phone now reads:
Build number RIO-L03C567B160
Android security patch level: April 1, 2016
Android version: 5.1
Baseband version: 20234
Custom Version: CUSTC567D002
I have T-Mobile and no issue with reception. I am going back to unlocking bootloader, root, and debloat the junkwares
I know there is a MM version (HUAWEI_G8_Firmware_RIO-L03_Android 6.0.1_EMUI 4.0_C469B330_Latin America_Channel-Others_Dual SIM). I am NOT going to flash this at this time. Also I don't like EMUI 4. I have Honor 5x also and after MM update, EMUI 4 removed the "Local update" option which takes away the ability to "sideload" updates via the "dload - update.app" method.

a solution for this is:
dial *#*#2846579#*#* with the phone app and you will get a service menu
(first picture) where you can select software upgrade and than
(second picture) load an update vom the dload-folder from your sd-card
THANK YOU!!!

On G8 I have also the option to go to settings -> update program -> hit the menu key (middle of bottom) -> Local update and now I can select from the updates that where found.
In my case even force update fails. My mobile tells RIO-L01C150B130CUSTAUTC150D004 (T-Mobile Austria) and it want's to OTA update right away to B331 of that version.
In many places I read that it is necessary to update in smaller junks (eg. B130-->B160 first or maybe even B130->B140->B160). Maybe noone told Huawei.
Not only OTA is failing. All dload attempts are failing, too. Even if bootloader is re-locked.
Btw. I can provide G8 OTA update file for RIO-L01C150B331CUSTAUTC150D004 (Marshmallow T-Mobile Austria) if someone needs. I could not manage to create some images out of it, yet. I didn't try hard, though .
On my phone cust- and modem partitions are not accessible with fastboot. I assume they are mounted as read only to prevent removal of branding (I unlocked the bootloader before I tried).
I'll have a look if I can access the cust / modem partitions with TWRP today. I would like to go from C150 to C432.
There are some things that I don't understand yet.
1) I can wipe all partitions with TWRP that ist finds (including cust partition). I'm not sure if it has any effect. I can select remove data in TWRP. In any case it seems cust and modem partition content stays completely untouched. -> I have not found a way to make a complete wipe aka a super clean install.
2) I flash boot.img, recovery.img and system.img from B160 but the mobile keeps telling it has B130. Beside that, the phone runs fine.

[SIMPLE] Guide to Root your device (without TWRP)

Hi All
Note: This procedure is for Windows PC only.
I can see there is a similar thread to help on rooting your device.
I created this thread it make it more easier and focussed just on rooting your device rather with additional information.
This menthod is to root your device without TWRP.
There is a detailed guide by @Freak07 which you can find here.
Prerequisite:
1. Your device bootloader is unlocked
2. You have enabled your Developer Options and enabled USB debugging (Settings > System > About phone > Software information, tap build number 7 times to enable Developer options)
3. Flash Tools, download from here and extract to your PC
4. Latest Magisk Manager which you can download from the relevant thread (search or click here)
BOOT IMAGES
Stock Boot images:
Firmware WW_16.1220.1906.174_0 >>>> Click here
Firmware WW_16.1220.1908.189_1.1.1 >>>> Click here
Patched Boot images:
Firmware WW_16.1220.1906.174_0 (patched with Magisk 19.3 stable version) >>>> Click here
Firmware WW_16.1220.1908.189_1.1.1 (patched with Magisk 19.3 stable version) >>>> Click here
Steps to Root:
1. Connect your device with USB cable
2. Go to the folder where you copied Flash Tools and double click to run cmd-here.exe
3. In the command prompt run the command adb devices, this will run the Deamon and show your device under List of devices attached. If doesn't show your device, check your device is connected and USB debugging is enabled.
4. Now run the command adb reboot bootloader to boot your device in to Fastboot mode
5. Now flash the patched boot image with the command fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
Restart your device with the fastboot command fastboot reboot and enjoy your ROOTED device
It works great, thanks!!
But then I installed miracast magisk module and now everytime I flash magisk patched boot, my phone is stuck on Asus logo so I have to flask stock boot to use my phone.
I think I should flash system image but when I unzip firmware from Asus site ( https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-6-ZS630KL/HelpDesk_Download/ ) on my mac,
It doesn't show any system image (or even boot image), only "compatibility" , "payload" and some other stuff.
Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Hi ASUS firmware for Zenfone do not have system img and instead it is the payload.bin which holds all system files. You can extract system image using python based tools.
You can remove the module if you flash TWPR and using file manger in TWRP to remove magix folder. This will remove magisk completely. Or, reset system via stock recovery. Completely switch off your device. Now, press and hold volume up button and press power button. It will help you to boot in to stock recovery. Or you can follow the guide here
If you still want to flash stock firmware, this link may help.

Yes you do. But you will not loose the files and folder in internal storage like photos etc..
You have to install all user applications again.
I would suggest you to follow the thread to flash TWRP and just remove magisk folder in TWRP file manager.

You can boot in to TWRP without permanently flashing it.
Take few cautions before you attempt to boot in to TWRP using this option,
1. Remove fingerprint in security settings (settings > Security & lock screen > Fingerprint)
2. Remove screen lock PIN in settings > security & lock screen > screen lock > select NONE here and also make sure Fingerprint is not enabled in this screen
How to boot in to TWRP:
Download TWRP from here
Use the command in Fastboot > fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-15-ASUS_I01WD.img
Now you can use file manager in TWRP and remove magisk folder. You have to mount system folder to do so.

Have you mounted system in twrp. It won't go anywhere. You should find it. I have done this several times.

yes. I can see that there is an installer (magisk module) which has to be flashed in magisk in order for TWRP to write on data partition.
In your case, you cannot boot your device with rooted image as you have a module which is causing bootloop. Catch 22 sistuation.
In this situation I think you have only one option left which is resetting your device loosing all installed apps. Sorry mate. Could not help you at this time.

Hello Smohanv,
Say I want to update to the latest Firmware that got released yesterday, and I am currently rooted via the method you introduced on the first page with firmware 16.1220.1906.174_0, how do I go about it?
If I do the Manual update, will I loose root? Or should I wait for you to release a patched one, and then do the manual update?
Thanks.

[Guide/Magisk] Root for the Galaxy A10 Series & Flash TWRP (Unlocked Exynos only, A10s not supported)

How to Flash TWRP & Root Samsung Galaxy A10 series (Unlocked Exynos Only, A10s (A107F/M) not supported)
NOTICE :
Before you move further, make clear that rooting device -
- Your warranty will be void
- Some of functions may not work on rooted device, some function may get back with un rooting, some may never.
- All your data on device will be lost
- Flashing custom binaries may brick (Usually soft but can be hard brick too) your device, so follow it on your own risk!
If you are ready with condition, move further -
Click to collapse
Before moving to root device, must read every single instruction given below as any small mistake can lead to fail to achieve root or may brick the device.
A. Unlocking Bootloader
This is a basic step to root device. Go to settings - about phone - Software Information - tap multiple times on "Build number" - This will open developer option.
Now in settings at the end, you will have new option "Developer options" - look for OEM unlocking - Enable it.
(PS : If you don't see this option then you may need to wait up to 7 days or more to appear or may be on some operator you will get it never. Without this option you can not root your device, sorry!).
How to get OEM Unlock option back?
1. Open the Settings app. Tap on General Management → Date and time.
2. Use the toggle button to disable Automatic date and time.
3. Set date option will be enabled now. Tap on it, and set the date to about 10-20 days earlier.
4. Enable developer options.
4.a Go to your device Settings.
4.b Select ‘About phone’ » tap seven times on ‘Build number’.
└ This will enable Developer options under Settings.
4.c Go back to Settings » scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see Developer options menu.
5. Open developer options (in the Settings app itself), and find the option called ‘Auto update system‘. Use the toggle button to disable it.
6. Now, go back to the main screen of Setting, and then tap on Software update.
7. Disable the option ‘Download updates automatically‘.
8. Tap on ‘Download updates manually‘ option, but it will give you an error because of the wrong date, so it’s fine.
9. Restart the device.
10. Go to Settings > Developer options. The OEM unlock option should be enabled now.
Once you have enable OEM unlock option, switch off your device and reboot to download mode.
To put device in download mode - Press Volume Up & then Press Volume Down (Keep holding both) and connect device to PC with USB cable
When device start to download mode, long press volume up to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe your data and automatically reboot
Now let finish setup and again enable developer options (as said above), and confirm that the OEM unlocking option exists and grayed out!
If it is not then you can not root device!
Once you see this option and greyed out, you are ready to flash custom binary and root your device.2. setup the phone by skipping the wizard.
B. Disabling Android Verified Boot
1. Reboot to DOWNLOAD mode.
2. Download Odin 3.14.4 or newer and make sure Samsung USB drivers are installed.
3. Open Odin and put the vbmeta_disabled.tar into USERDATA slot and click "Start"
4. Your device will reboot but it will not boot into system as vbmeta signature has changed.
5. Your device will reboot into RECOVERY mode automatically and prompt "You have to reset your device to factory settings". Use "Volume Up" or "Volume Down" button to move and "Power" button to select. Confirm and reset the device to factory settings.
6. This is the last time the data on the device has to be cleared. Afterwards, if you don't re-lock bootloader or re-enable the Android Verified Boot, you will not lose your data. Be aware, a stock firmware package contains a Android Verified Boot Metadata Image (vbmeta.img) with verifications enabled. You will need to flash the vbmeta_disable image (put into USERDATA slot) along with the stock firmware (use BL, AP, CP, CSC slots) to make sure AVB is not re-enabled and the data is preserved.
C. Flashing TWRP/Magisk
link
Important :
Due to the fact that some devices no longer uses ramdisk in boot images, Magisk has no choice but to be installed in the recovery partition. For these devices, you will have to boot to recovery every time if you want Magisk. Since both Magisk and recovery lives in the same partition, what you actually end up getting when you choose to boot to recovery will be determined by how long you press volume up.
(Powering up normally) → (System with NO Magisk)
(OEM Recovery Key Combo) → (Splash screen) → (Release all buttons) → (System with Magisk)
(OEM Recovery Key Combo) → (Splash screen) → (Keep pressing volume up) → (Actual recovery)

Hi
Thanks for putting out the details guide!
I followed the steps carefully but got stuck at step 12 - the device boots to download mode and says: "error verifying vbmeta image..."
Luckily I was able to flash it back to stock - but the magisk_patched.tar looks faulty (I copied it using adb) so no root for me
Any ideas?

Flash AP file only for some reason the BL tar include vbmeta.img but you can patch it too.
I also hit the same problem that soft-brick my phone.. just to confirm, the AP.md5 file u said to use, its name is this? AP_A105GDXU2ASE3_CL15918313_QB23932289_REV00_user_low_ship_meta_OS9.tar

Hey dude,
Thanks for the update, I have a problem with step 7
7) Open Magisk Manager - Magisk (first one) - Install - select to "Select and Patch file" - Navigate file you have copied to device (BL_[device_model_sw_ver].tar.md5).
I followed but magisk says No Boot image found, process error, installation failed

My bad I didnt test this, the BL file contain vbmeta.img and need to be patched. Will try to find better solution.
You can flash stock BL file only then reboot again to bootloader and flash the rest files.
I see.. no worries.. I tried to flash the patched ap file with the stock bl, it soft brinked my phone the last time I did it.. anyway, I will wait for your workaround..
Appreciate your help!

I think it would be helpful to users if there were a single multi-disabler for all Samsung devices. To that end, I've incorporated your changes for the A10 into my multidisabler and attached a test version to this posting.
Will you please test it? If it works for you, I'll issue a new release.

Thanks. In your case, it's easier now if you just verify that the script I attached is working, since I've already integrated the changes you made in your clone.
Anyone who wants multidisabler support for a new device, however, can either send me a pull request against the latest code, or run the following script on a live, rooted device:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
getprop ro.boot.bootloader
echo --
ls -l /vendor/etc/init/pa_daemon*.rc /vendor/etc/fstab.exynos*
echo --
cat /vendor/etc/fstab.exynos*
echo --
su -c cat /init.rc
Hi dude..
I tried it.. unfortunately I still have problems.. here are some of the problems
1) my 7zip does not allow me to mod the BL files within the md5 extension, so I extracted them out and replaced the file manually then zip it to Tar.. (the VBmeta file is only 1kb) is that right?
2) after flashing via odin, I did a reboot, I encountered a VBMEta error, "Error verifying vbmeta image" Verification_disabled bit is (cant see it, block by the camera module)
In the end, i restored the firmware and got everything back.

Try using this vbmeta.img (inside the tar file). It worked for me on the A20 with similar error. This file normally seems to be a checksum checker and if it doesn't match what the phone wants to see it gives you that error. But this file was modified to essentially be blank so there is nothing to give the phone an error.

Update to Android 10 on magisk & Edxposed?

What are the steps to be able to update to Android 10?
Can't seem to find it anywhere. Coming from pie. Thank you.
It was said that Edxposed does not work on android 10. Will eye on this as I need Edxposed badly, currently on Pie.

Edxposed I can remove it. But I know that magisk does work. And that's what I need. Maybe disabling it and updating it will work ?
You can update you Pixel downloading the ota and the factory image from Google repository. Sideload the ota, reboot your phone and wait for the "update optimization" (there is a notification), then you have to patch the boot image (get it from factory) with Magisk Manager. Finally, flash the patched boot image.
In details:
1. Download the full OTA image and the Factory image from Google
2. Keep Magisk and root, copy boot.img from Factory in the Pixel
3. Boot into factory recovery (go in bootloader, choose recovery, keep power and press volume up button).
4. Choose Apply update from ADB
5. From windows: adb sideload fullOTAimage.zip
6. The update will take awhile
7. Reboot and let the update finish in android
8. Load magisk and patch the boot.img, copy patch_boot.img to computer
9. Boot into the bootloader
10. Flash the patched boot image with: fastboot flash boot patch_boot.img
BUT in the Google repository there are 2 version of ota/factory images (.019 e .020). I don't know the difference.
Edit: you need the Magisk Manager canary version, see this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3/how-to/guide-patching-boot-img-magisk-canary-t3964359

According to what I've read .019 is for those who were already on the betas and .020 is for those upgrading from Pie.

Awesome man, thank you !
i updated from pie and patched the boot.image so now i have root. i was trying to edit the build.prop for hotspot tethering, the old net.tethering.noprovisioning=true but it wont allow me to edit and save the changes to the build.prop, root explorer is not getting read write permissions or something, root explorer does have super user [permission though. can anyone shed some light on this please
This seems kind of dangerous. It would be great to hear some more people's experience.
Has anyone confirmed whether or not Xposed works on Android 10? Riru Core says that it's compatible with Android 10. As long as Riru core works then Xposed should work. But I would like some confirmation so that I can update.

I finally updated through OTA while on magisk and disabled it to enable it again with a patch. But with steps. I'll upload it soon for people coming from Android 9 (rooted in magisk) and OTA updating to Q and rooting back with magisk. Xposed will come in next.

Sorry it's taking long. I'm gonna post it here now in a few.
Okay, I work at a fulltime job so please bear with me and sorry for my late responses. And acknowledge that I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device. This step-by-step guide was done on an unlocked Google Pixel 3 XL unlocked bought from the Google Play store. I haven't tested it out on other versions of Pixel 3's or any other phone that isn't the Pixel 3 models since I do not own them, so keep that in mind. My situation was to find out how to update my ALREADY ROOTED/MAGISK version of Android 9 PIE through OTA. Upon checking or looking around I couldn't find any tutorials that are easy for me so with all the info I gathered I decided to wing it and compile steps from a lot of sites, risk it all and used my knowledge to put together this guide. In hopes, this helps everyone else! anyways here we go...
First, PLEASE make sure if you have Edxposed or any other modules or anything that is similiar, uninstall it or remove it. (Applications or mods from magisk are fine, I did this while I had a few mods from magisk, like viperfx, youtube vanice etc..)
1. Disable Automatic system updates in developer options, so it won't install OTAs without your acknowledgment.
2. When an OTA is available, first go to Magisk Manager → Uninstall → Restore Images. Do not reboot or you will have Magisk uninstalled. This will restore your boot back to 100% untouched stock images in order to pass pre-OTA block verifications.
3. After restoring the stock boot image, apply the OTA update as you normally would (Settings → System → System Update).
Wait for the installation to be fully done then press the "Restart now"
Wait for the phone to reboot and let it sit for a few minutes. 10-15 minutes give or take.
Don't panic, let it do its thing.
Once you see the "G" with the loading under it, you should be fine.
let it boot up.
4. Now download the factory zip
download 10.0.0 (QP1A.190711.020, Sep 2019)
5. Once downloaded, open the zip using any zip/rar program. (I HIGHLY recommend WinRar) within THAT zip folder extract the image-crosshatch-qp1a.190711.020.zip somewhere on your desktop.
6. Now then open THAT zip file and from it, extract the boot.img file onto your desktop and move it into your Pixel 3 XL's download folder. (I did it this way, so I recommend it)
7. Now uninstall your old magisk manager and install the latest Magisk Manager (app-release.apk)from HERE
8. Open Magisk Manager and Press Install ==> Press Install again ==> Select Patch a File ==> Select the boot.img file you extracted from the latest factory image that you placed in your Pixel 3 XL.
9. Magisk Manager will patch the boot.img and store the patched boot.img in the download folder as "magisk_patched.img"
10. Copy the magisk_patched.img file to your computer's Platform-tools folder(The one you use to adb push files in etc.) or the folder that has fastboot.exe(your ADB folder should have the fastboot.exe in it normally lol ) in it.
11. Connect the phone to the Computer with USB type- c cord.
12. Open your platform-tools folder if you haven't, and on the search bar type in "cmd" and tap enter on your keyboard.
(the cmd promt should open already in your location)
13. Now boot your Pixel 3 XL into fastboot mode by typing the commad: adb reboot bootloader
14. Once your phone is on fastboot mode then type: fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
15. Once it's done then type the command : fastboot reboot
16. Google logo should show, but don't panic give it a few.
Open Magisk and check if its rooted on the manager
And congrats ! you have a Magisk root on Android Q ! :highfive:
Please let me know if it worked for you and let me know if you need any help! :fingers-crossed:

Just posted it above ! please let me know if it works!
does Dolby work on pixel 3 xl? can anyone confirm?
I installed the OTA update the other day, but did anyone figure out if Edxposed Is working on Android 10?
This also works on Pixel 2 XL going from Android 9.0 July image with xposed 19.3.
Here's a simpler guide:
1. Go to Magisk Manager → Uninstall → Restore Images
2. Apply the OTA update and reboot
3. Download factory ZIP for 10.0 (In this case for taimen: Pixel 2 XL Android 10.0 Image)
4. From ZIP extract "taimen-qp1a.190711.020/image-taimen-qp1a.190711.020.zip/boot.img" and put it somewhere in the phone
5. Update Magisk with this version: Link
6. Open Magisk Manager and press: Install -> Install -> Patch a File and then select boot.img extracted before
7. Copy magisk_patched.img that Magisk has made to PC
8. Reboot phone to bootloader: adb reboot bootloader
9. Flash patched boot image: fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
10. Reboot phone: fastboot reboot
TL;DR:
Disable Magisk, update 10.0 OTA, upgrade Magisk, patch factory boot image with Magisk and flash boot image.
btw: I recommend Easy 7zip: http://www.e7z.org/ for handling the ZIP in a ZIP

Has anyone successfully updated to Android 11 with Magisk?

I see "11.0.0 (RQ1A.201205.003, Dec 2020" is available for Crosshatch and Blueline.
I'm still on Android 9 with Magisk installed by patching the boot image.
Is the following process still valid and supported for applying an OTA update to Android 11, and then re-installing Magisk?
1) Magisk Manager → Uninstall → Restore Images
2) Apply the OTA update :
__a) Boot into factory recovery
__b) Choose Apply update from ADB
__c) From windows: adb sideload crosshatch-ota-rq1a.201205.003-4d6e609b.zip
__d) Reboot phone and let the update finish in Android
3) Separately download the corresponding Factory image: crosshatch-rq1a.201205.003-factory-d5cb2a93.zip. Extract the boot.img, move it into the Pixel 3 XL's download folder
4) Uninstall old Magisk manager and install the latest Magisk Manager (Direct Install Magisk Manager v8.0.4 from here, per Magisk installation instructions)
5 ) Open Magisk Manager and Press Install ==> Press Install again ==> Select Patch a File ==> Select the boot.img file in "Download". It will be patched.
6) Copy the magisk_patched.img file to your computer's Platform-tools folder
7) Boot Pixel 3 XL into fastboot mode by typing the commad: adb reboot bootloader
8) Once phone is on fastboot mode then type: fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
9) Once it's done then type the command : fastboot reboot
10) Open Magisk Manager and check if its rooted
This is based on the process from about a year ago. so please reply if anything has changed.

You might be able to skip all the step 2's and just check for update after unrooting and take the ota normally. That has worked for me for quite awhile.
Other than that, your steps are spot on and work with 11.

Thanks for the reply. So to take the OTA (which I do get periodic prompts for), I'd just use the "uninstall" function at the bottom of Magisk Manager, then take the update?
Can you confirm that you moved from Pie (9) to Android 11 in one step?
I just posted in a Magisk thread asking about the boot method change between Android 10 and Android 11. I'm unclear of the implications. Hopefully Google has tested all the from/to contingencies in their OTA process?

Best practice would be to do an actual update and reboot bootloader to flash your patched boot.img. If you are jumping android releases problems might arise that no one can account for and generally you should do a full wipe when switching releases. Google has by no means accounted for any contingencies in the ota process, read the disclaimer they give upon an ota (any data lost in the process is never their fault, so backup you stuff). Patching the boot image through the manager is the preferred method, anything else is very difficult to troubleshoot.

By boot method do you mean unroot, do not boot, update do not boot, then root the inactive slot?
Do not do that, on 11 it can go bad in fact if you have 11 it will not even be available in Magisk. He took it out for now due to problems.
What I was suggesting bead unroot, boot, take the OTA, boot. Then patch the boot img and flash it.
