I don't think that will ever happen in stock software or for free.
Reason being is that a remote server is required to handle the load balancing.
It's not a simple process unfortunately.

Now that the platform has been unlocked, what are the first apps that you want to see written for an open platform.
First thing I'd like is perhaps a simple file manager
The platform hasn't been unlocked yet. What we can do now is side load applications without having to purchase a developer account.
Either or, im still waiting on a Flashlight app that actually uses the flash LED! hehe.

great how do i install it though?
an app to set mp3 ringtones.
That's already coming in an update, developers shouldn't waste their time and should focus on other things
I've got an LG Optimus 7 and also would be interested in an app that uses the LED as a flashlight
Maybe we can get the htc app and sideload it

Actually an app that lists files on the device that uses native code has already been demonstrated. Apps like this could never make it onto the market place, but could be side loaded.

RDP app FTW!
+29 for the HTC flashlight app side-loaded into a Samsung Focus!
All it does is list the files and directories. You can't modify the files at all because the security on them is still intact. It also uses a Samsung dll that doesn't work on most phones. It's a neat trick but rather useless right now.

There are like 400 flashlight apps in the marketplace?
Is the htc one the only one that works with the phone's flash?
I have the hd7 so I didn't realize this was a problem.

Those apps don't use the camera flash. They just, erm, do nothing. Show a white screen.

I do have read it before asking this question and I do know what wifi direct is and transfer files via wifi direct is available in Galaxy S II.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCEawDprnOQ
When enable the Wifi Direct in Galaxy Nexus, there is a notification asking users to touch for setting but there is no setting page like the Galaxy S II.

This means Galaxy Nexus doesn't have a build-in interface to send files via wifi direct?
Perhaps the option to send via wifi only is listed after you are connected to a device? Are you trying to do this between two GNexus'?

did you pressed search like in the video? from there u can search other deives after u activated wifi direct
EDIT: it seems u need a third party app to send files with the gnext..actually no app on the play store to do that...but i could be wrong
The wifi direct in 4.0.3 is buggy as ****, you do need a 3rd party app and i'm assuming that since there aren't many out there is because it's so buggy. A buddy at work here made a quick one and testing was bad, upon further investigation we found that there are a bunch of bugs in the google code.

WTF.....a semi-finished phone with no wifi-direct when pointed it as one of the main selling points and no noise cancellation
I am gotta mad about this "EXPENSIVE" phone.
So who do we bytch and moan to either fix the google code or to implement this feature in core android apps such as the Gallery and Play Music?
Forewarning: I have not posted for help here before. I will try to include as much detail as is necessary without giving way to a flood.
Device: VZW Galaxy Nexus
OS: Cyanogenmod 10.1 (toro)
App attempted: Wifi Tether for Root Users (v 3.2-beta2)
I chose the above app because it seems to be what a great deal of people use once rooting their phones. When I tap to start tethering, I'm told that errors have happened and that I can view the log to see them. I've attached a screenshot of the log.
Any suggestions, anyone?
Why are you using some app other than stock?
CM supports it with out of the box functionality.
Settings--> More-->Tethering & portable hotspot-->Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
Oh

I am not a clever man. I wasn't certain if I would be able to use the CM default hotspot without VZW finding out. So long as that thing is safe to use and they won't find out, then I'll definitely use that instead.

They can easily find out. Whatever you're tethering will likely have a user agent other than the Android one. Anybody with 2 brain cells can figure out what that means.
Well then

Solved!!!! The problem is that my network operator (CoopVoce) is virtual.
So I had to modify my APN setting adding "default, supl" as APN type.
Now it works great!!!!

You need two requirements to be satisfied:
Your carrier has to support this.
Your messaging app has to support this through a feature in the settings.
I know an app that supports this functionality is 8SMS.

I'm not sure if AT&T supports this, or if it's an add-on you'd have to add to your plan. You can look into that and see. However, for the second requirement, you can download a different SMS app to test if SMS over wifi works out of the box.
Hey,
So I want to use the wireless tethering in the stock ROM, but i'm not sure how to remove the subscription check. FoxFi doesn't seem to work, nor does Wifi Tether for Root Users. Is it like Moto phones in where you find the carrier information and modify it with an SQL editor? I'm kind of confused.
Thanks!
Zeke.

I installed Foxfi from the store ...opened it...left it as an open network...set the pin lock...accepted the credential. ..it asks to go to my settings to start up wifi hotspot...
Hope this helps.
Foxfi works perfectly fine on my retail note. My ps4, laptop and iPad all connect without an issue. I do have the paid key
For those of you that have the paid version, are you missing the menu button? I also downloaded the add on and somehow the extra options including the proxy settings are missing. Doesn't the proxy settings allow you to conceal the data usage from Verizon?
