My Note 8 Snapdragon has an LED notification light. It works when charging but not for notifications. I think that I have everything turned on on the App settings etc

Yes I did that. I ended up using a third party app to get the light working

Hi
Does anybody know how to get the LED notification light to work through whatsapp? (I mean without using a 3rd party applicaiton). There is an option in whatsapp to have the LED blink, but I cant manage to get it to work. Any ideas?
Using stock 4.1.1 GSM GNex

What color did you select? Mine is set to green and works fine.
I selected green as well. Also tried a few other colours but still no luck.
Do do you have popup notifications enabled in whatsapp by any chance?

No. Disabled.
Is Whatsapp the only app that's having trouble controlling the LED of your gnex?
Activate and setup in app settings>notifications
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
@OP Are you sure the 'Pulse Notification' setting is checked to work?
(Settings > Display > Pulse Notification)
Can't think of anything else, my whatsapp led blinks green on notification just fine.
Yeah, pulse notification in the phones settings menu is enabled. I'm using light flow now to control my led which works fine. For some reason I just could not get whatsapp to blink the LED itself. So I went the 3rd party route.
Thanks for the help
hello, i'm using lightfow on AOKP black bean and generally it's work good
i noticed 've the same problem, no led notification from whatsapp...

Whatsapp is supported in the full (paid for) version of light flow.

you can try reinstalling whatsapp or emailing them to report an issue
EDIT: Not sure if this matters but I have the Whatsapp version from the market (version 2.8.4771) but on their own website the version number available for android is Version 2.8.4923
http://www.whatsapp.com/android/
Not sure what's that all about but you could try both and see if one works.

Ah sorry, I misunderstood you. Yes thats something that I also thought of - whatsapp not having access to the LED because Lightflow has 'taken control' of the LED. However to test this theory, I uninstalled Light Flow, but still could not manage to get whatsapp to blink the LED by itself.

Why don't you use the LED Notification build in AOPK? Settings -> Rom Control -> LED Control

i did too...also reinstalled whatsapps without any luck
My Whatsapp doesn't blink the led either. It did a while ago I know for sure. It has just stopped functioning and I can't get it to work again. Not that important to me though.
Notification LED
Is it possible to use Light Flow Lite and have stock LED notifications work too?
ie. so whatsapp notification LED works too because both Light Flow and default LED settings are on
hey,
i was wondering if its possible to set the LED to always on when a notification arrives? under display settings, if i turn off pulse LED, the LED no longer lights up for any notification
try lightflow app

i have tried the lightflow lite app and it wasnt able to control the LED.
do you know if i need to enable any of the special settings in lightflow to get it to work?
Use this, Worked for me.

lightflow doesn't work if you have stamina mode on. Turn it off and it will work.

Light flow works for me and I have stamina mode enabled.
My phone is rooted and I did tick the "root mode" box though
Why is my LED Notification light in the top speaker grill?
Is this normal?
It's normal because that's where htc put it.
That's the design.
And it only shows two colors.
Amber while charging and green for all notifications
HTC UltimEight ?
It's the one thing I miss from my Nexus 5, loved having the RGB LED and using LightFlow to customise it. Hoping HTC sort this out in future...

Well technically you can use the amber LED for other notifications in apps that support custom LED colours. Just select the "red" option. Works for me on Whatsapp

Yup, it's rooted. But root access shouldn't affect such a thing, I didn't receive any root access requests when setting LED colour. What app did you try it on?

Hmm that's weird, unrooted and it still works for me. It's probably due to the custom rom then, I'm using the Venom rom

Has anybody found a way to override the 5 min limitation without using a 3rd party app? I can override it with an app called recurrent notifications manager and it works well, but I'd rather not use an app to do something that should happen anyway. Take note HTC...
I haven't seen a fix yet, they also need to take note to make the notification light flash while charging. Pretty stupid of htc if you ask me.
Has anyone figured out how to change the LED frequency without downloading apps like LED flow? I am looking for something like a build.prop mod.
Thanks

Also looking for it. Looks like it flashes every 20 seconds. You have to watch your phone to see that it had received a message or something.

Literally just got done setting up Light Flow - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite&hl=en
You have to enable it under Settings>Security>Notification Access. Then disable it under Settings>Accessibility>Services. Enable LED in Settings>Display>Notification light, and click on Notification light and uncheck all EXCEPT downloads apps.
Kind of a pain but worth it because you can set custom vibrate patterns, LED flash frequency and color

I've just attempted this and no go.
1. Went to Settings>Security>Notification Access and enabled Lite Flow Lite.
2. Went to Settings>Accessibility>Services and ensured Lite Flow Lite is OFF
3. Went to Settings>Display>Notification LED and turned off all the apps (incoming call, missed calls, etc..) Does the Parent "Notification LED" have to be ON or OFF?
4. In Lite Flow, changed Gmail to Blue
5. Ran the test feature: No LED appeared.
6. Turned off screen and sent an email to my phone. NO LED appeared.
Anything I missed?

Parent Notification LED has to be switched on. Try leaving downloaded apps checked under display>notification light and run the test in Light Flow again.

Hey, thank you for the instructions as I looked everywhere for how to get LightFlow to work on my G3. I really appreciate this.
Is anyone having this issue
If go to setting and click on my led notification they all show they work but yet when i get incoming text or email they dont blink at all
But if I tap my screen to open it blinks a blue led light and when charging my LED Red Light works
I am not sure why the hold up on text and email and other notifications.
Same here, AT&T model. When I go into notification> interruptions I set all interruptions but when I back out, it still shows have no notifications interupt. Is that what your seeing?
yes
yes im on Verizon and yes everything shows thats its on and I can test the lights when I click each one on under setting so they work. They just never work when i get notification like a text or email ...very strange ........ i have tried using light flow and when i click to test it they dont work either on the test

You turned off the screen when you test with LightFlow? You allowed downloaded apps in the LED settings of the system?
