I would like everything like icons and text a bit smaller if possible

Hey Guys,
Just a quick question about dpi. Phone mode should be 240 and if we want it to be in tablet mode we should switch it to 160 correct? or anyone find a better setting? and font scale just keep it on 100? or make that a little bigger?
Also just wanted to know if anyone can point me in the right direction to add more modules?
Thanks!
Hi, I've just received the dot view case for the M8. My global DPI has been set to 350 and naturally the case display doesn't function properly with these settings. Using app settings I've reset the com.HTC.dotmatrix app to 480 DPI. This corrects most of the errors but the clock is still misaligned. Has anyone had any joy with this?

I replied to your other thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51993570&postcount=4
What I have is a work around that isn't elegant and probably won't work for everyone, though it worked for me. I am sure someone will come up with something better shortly but hopefully this is of some small use in the mean time.
The clock on my quick circle case is off set to the top right but I can swipe it and the other icons such as settings , camera etc are all displayed in the center as they should be.
I have set the lge.clock in app settings to 480dpi and 640dpi but none of these work. Anyone help?
Anyone?

I had the same problem when i was messing around with resolution...Just return them to original, and it should work.
I'm just guessing you dropped to 1080p?

I tried alot, but it did not work.
If you're trying to save battery, i don't think it will work.
If it works, you wont even notice...The pixels are beeing used either way..
I saw the phone in a store today and wanted to buy it. But got annoyed that the smallest screen scaling option is still bigger than my p20 pro and feels like a waste of screen real estate.
Does anyone know of a way to make things on screen look smaller without rooting?
connect to adb and use wm size option. whatever size you set make sure aspect ratio is same as original device. it works better than wm density.
It’s even simpler than that. There are adjustments in display as well the option in developer options to adjust dpi.

You can change the minimum width setting to a higher number in developer options but it will mess up the SystemUI a little. Certain apps will become too large. It also resets every time you restart the phone. Huawei needs to fix this. It's one of the worst things about EMUI.
try using wm size. it works perfectly.
apart from some apps, like camera. use tasker to reset back when using camera
Thank you so much Guys! Is there any difference at all between using minimum with in developer options, and using vm size in adb? Cheers

It really doesn't work any better than using the Minimum Width setting in developer options and like you said it even screws up the camera app.
I'm using 600 DPI and I have no problems. I wouldn't recommend going higher than 640 as you might get glitches.
Does anyone have a link on how to use that wm size setting?

Has anyone else noticed how large the icons and notification cards are on the pull down screen? I am on the smallest display size and everything still seems huge.
I have tried using developer options and setting smallest width to 424 (default is 423) but that reduces it too much in my opinion.
Any way around this?
Yes ofc, but to be honest, after 1 week or something, i didn't notice it at all.

I could live with it as 424 but the problem is that the setting is not remembered, it resets upon reboot.
Why 424? Well the default is 423, and even one point more makes a significant difference. There seems to be no middle ground between 423 and 424 settings.
Any way to remember upon reboot? Or does this need root?

it resets, really? huh
mine only resets when i go to dev settings and open the dpi settings, then it resets. otherwise nope, it sticks.
so just to be sure, have u actually tried anything else than 423 and 424? be sure to try other numbers further apart from stock and see how that suits you.

I have mine set to 390 in developer settings. To me it looks just right for this screen size and resolution. It doesn't reset when the phone restarted.
Sorry my bad, in EMUI 9 the settings didn't stay upon reboot, from my experience.

Are you still experiencing this problem in emui 10?

I mentioned it to emphasize the problem with the ui design (agree that the notification icons are too big)
Updated to EMUI 10 on my P20 Pro, but can't seem to get the notifications to work. I used to get Watsapp notifications, and preview of messages in my notification panel, anyone else had same issue, please help

I could not agree more. It looks terrible.
Notifications are huge.
Pull down Quick Launch icons are also huge.
Had to try and make things smaller, but icons on Wallpaper are now too small.
It's a mess
Was there any fix?
I have DPI set to 430, makes a big - but smaller - difference.
And the settings always stick after cache clearing / reboots.
