As this is my first Windows Phone and I wasn't really sure what to expect when it came to fluidity, I was pleased with how smooth everything is. However I've begun noticing a decent (read: annoying) bit of lag when I open up the messaging app and begin typing. The letters take a second to appear and autocorrect is slow if it comes up at all. The lag only last maybe 3-5 seconds but annoying none the less. I've also had some rather bad experience with laggy apps, with Skype being the worst culprit. I read good things about the recent refresh, but it's pretty much unusable for me. I've also been having issues with losing LTE and having it drop down to "4G". A simple toggle of airplane mode fixes it, but it's gone from happening rarely to happening once or twice a day now. When I do have LTE though, I have 4-5 bars constantly.
Anywho, bit of a wall of text but I just wanted to see if anyone else is having similar issues and if it's worth going to AT&T and seeing if they'll replace the phone for me as I'm still within my 30 day return window.
EDIT- Just remembered 2 more issues. Had it reboot on my when adjusting the volume and there's a weird clicking noise that happens when I swipe from the first picture in the camera roll. The phone is on silent, and it only happens going from the first to second picture. Little odd but not a big deal.

The only problem i have seen is:
When i switch off my phone and turn it on sometimes it freezes and i have to turn it of an on 2 or 3 times in order to get it working. this has been happening recently i dono whthere it is to do with some apps or firmware issue.
sometimes the touch screen also give hiccups specially on facebook app.
No other problem. coming from samsung galaxy s 2, i only miss the ability to change my homescreen every week with a different launcher and layout. The apps that i miss are Tweetdeck, 100% working Pulse, Youtube and Facebook App.
My Lumia 900 playing Angry birds is so much faster and smoother compared to SGS2.
Overall i am happy with the looks and performance of my phone.
I get that messaging problem as well sometimes where the keyboard lags and the typing noise doesn't keep pace with my inputs.
Mildly annoying and it's not constant so no big deal for me.
Sometimes, multitasking stops working and I have to do a quick power-off.
Actually, all issues are resolved with a quick reboot as opposed to a reset with my Lumia 900 which is something I can't say about my HD7.
I agree with above. The only lag I get is the occasional facebook load time lag. Some apps take longer to load than others, it's perfectly reasonable. As for overall lag, I had one experience yesterday where everything just slowed to a standstill. It was the first time I had to restart the phone, but after that, I've seen no problems. I can imagine it was a corrupt app as I had been downloading quite a bit of them that day. Coming from android for 2 years, the experience here is much much smoother. My advice, as i learned from the past 2 years, is to retrace your steps and find out when exactly it started to lag. When you find the beginning see if you downloaded any poorly rated or laggy third party app, or if you changed a seeting on your phone. If it continues to lag for no reason, you might just have a bad device. Best of luck.

I just upgraded from a Samsung Focus. My very first reaction was that the screen was slightly less responsive than the Focus, which was buttery smooth and instantaneous. It felt slightly, but noticeably less responsive. After using it for a day, I don't notice it anymore. I am sure it is there, but my memory of the Focus is not as near. As far as true lag goes, I have not experienced any after 2 weeks use, and no reboots or freezes.

I'm glad you are enjoying it but I came from the original focus myself and had the exact opposite reaction. That it was much faster and smoother than my old focus... I still have it and my kids play the old games on it so I can compare regularly and still feel the same.
Does anybody have lag when they are pinching and zooming on heavy desktops websites? i am getting a lot of lag here where my htc titan did not get that lag.
The only issue I seem to be having is when playing any kind of music or watching videos. If I touch any of the capacitive buttons, it's as if I long press them. Not a huge deal since I usually only touch the back arrow anyway, but that's all I get.
i was wondering if anyone else had this problem. My lumia has consistently not displayed maps in nokia maps or the maps app. It will show my location on a blank black or patterned screen (depending on the app). It's not a wifi or data issue because it's happened on both. It's happened five times in 3 days. Each time i've had to shut the phone off and restart it and it works again. Is this just a problem with mine? Thanks.e

it is a problem with your device, so do you have web browser lag or is that problem only with my device.
For those who have upgraded already, how did the upgrade process go and how are you liking it so far?
This is a big upgrade and I'm nervous about pulling the trigger until this is vetted out a bit.
Chris
The process went well. I had to play with the display resolution and zoom to get things looking right. I had to re install my theme store theme to get it back. Other than that, it runs great. Only a few apps not compatible with n. But I have like 400 apps. So not bad! Oh yes, I did need a couple of reboots too.
Sweet! Well... having to go five steps back first was a PITA but when finished (and thank God for the Samsung Cloud Backup System - I had just done a backup three days before this project and it saved my arse!) Once I finished the AT&T OTA of QB2, I did a Restore from the Samsung Cloud and the phone looked EXACTLY like it had with Nougat PL4! Desktop, Apps, (most) settings... awesome!
Going good, process went smooth. I'd just say plug up and stay plugged during upgrade
Just did the upgrade. I have to say guys, this was BY FAR the smoothest stock upgrade I've ever experienced from Samsung. They did a nice job on this.
I'm just running into the issue of UI Lag. The update went smooth enough though. I will also say I am having issue with video playback in chrome if I flip to fullscreen then the ability to control the video is gone and i cant minimize it i have to hit the home key to get out of the video.
I just finished installing QB2. Everything works smoothly except one annoying bug. The Activity Zone app launch not in full screen. It's like 70% of the screen. I tried to change the display resolution but the same.
Anyone having the same issue?

Yes, it launch in full screen but the content of the app is not. Please see attached picture. Do you have the same?
It was full screen in marshmallow
That is quite strange, my Activity Zone is full screen, do you have your Zoom function under "Display" set to small?
Upgrade went smooth , i did it manually and not OTA , all working good with good battery life.
What i did is as follows :
1- Odin the PI2 as a base line
2- Then via recovery from the device I used "update from SD card" and upgraded to PK2
3- Then i did it again via recovery from the device I used "update from SD card" and upgraded to QB2
Download the needed files from the following thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-active/how-to/s7-active-sm-g891a-ota-updates-firmware-t3540866
I updated to the BQB2 build via OTA about a week after it became available. I'm generally pleased with it, but there are a few things here and there that make me think that perhaps I'm due for a factory reset and start over.
Battery life is slightly down for me, which doesn't match up with reports I'm hearing from others. It's not much lower, but it's noticeable.
UI seems to be slightly more 'laggy'. Reduced the animation scales in the dev options to compensate. Maybe because I was running 'Good Lock' when the update happened?
Seems like wifi connection is not 100% stable. I see the notification bar 'flicker' from time to time, and it keeps re-posting the notification about what network I'm connected to.
Seems to get warmer while charging wirelessly, to the point that it pauses the wireless charging. But, this is in a cradle in my car, with Waze running, and it's warmer than it had been for a few months so not really sure if the update is involved in this or not.
Probably one or two other smaller things that I'm not thinking of at the moment. Obviously they weren't showstoppers, since I can't recall right now.
I like that they included the mobile hotspot toggle again (finally!), but they still don't have a 'mobile data' one. System UI Tuner is still gone, although I've read some people think that's the case with Nougat in general, so not sure.
All that being said, it updated to the BQC2 build today. The wifi thing seems to be resolved, despite this being only a 'security update'. I'll let it shake out for a few days or so and see if I still think it's worthwhile to start all over.
Went smooth for me, took literally less then 2 minutes.
All my apps/settings are working flawlessly and I experienced no issues thus far.
I updated to Nougat since it was released and I can't say I'm happy. Battery looks slightly worse and at least 1 or 2 twice a week my phone slows down getting almost unresponsive. I have to restart it.
That never happened with Marshmallow. I'll try it for one more month and if not I will go back to Marshmallow. Is that still possible?
That is a good question. I know that with small version upgrades the phone keeps the original version stored for a full wipe, but on a big OS upgrade I am not sure. Hopefully someone will know. I want to say yes it can be done.
Im on QD4, loving Noguat at how quick it is. But, i hate how all the menus and settings are all bunched and i have use search to find basic things.
I actually am having some issues with my s7 active I installed the 7.0 update a few months back and never looked back because the 7.0 stock rooms great no issues except recently last week's my phone started rebooting on its own . I though no biggie cause it did every once in a while , but now it has greatly increased . What happen was it froze on Facebook messenger app when I was trying to reply to a message and would not unfreeze so I had too force restart it that is when the problems really begun. The moment I force restarted it and it rebooted and i got into hone screen i keep getting notifications that apps were crashing over and over and the phone decided to restart on its own and keep doing the same thing . So I was like wtf maybe it's a app or something so I decided to do a factory reset and clear cache and rebooted the phone looked like that fixed the problem for a whole 2 minutes then the crashing of apps and random restarts . I was tired so.i was like ok I just turned the phone off and notice that it was kinda warm and decided to go to bed and mess with it tomorrow . So when I woke up I booted the phone up and it was acting normal no crashing or anything no reboots but after 2 hours it randomly started rebooting and sometimes the apps crash bit currently the phone is working but i get random freezes and reboots all day . I have tried searching for a solution but no luck. Some people claim its a app but when I have no apps Installed and it still does it its not a app problem . Some people say it could be the mother board flus faulting out or bad battery can't send it in for repair cause I bought the phone off eBay. Is anyone else having these issues and know of a fix maybe thanks sorry for the long post.
Upgraded to BQB2 a week ago, I am very happy with everything, it's smoother, faster and manages RAM better (well I was Rooted on 6.0.1 so it was laggy) all my apps work perfectly and I've disabled many things with Package Disabler Pro, I've been testing running music, google maps chrome, whatsapp, messenger, face all at the same time, very smooth BUT I must say it does drain battery much faster than before.
Now my phone wont make it through the day, it even drains on standby, I've already flashed 7.0 twice and wiped cache, I'm still, thinking if I will keep this or go back to 6.
Yesterday alone, my battery went from 89% at 1:30am to 52% at 10:30am, only on standby. When I check Battery use my com.android.systemui is the one eating up most of it, I even set my resolution low to HD. If anybody has a solution, any help would surely be appreciated, I don't wanna go back to Marshmellow, but if I must......
Upgraded and everything was fine apparently, then I saw the huge battery drain, tried averything I found and decided to go back to marshmallow.

Can you please provide screen shots?
There are 2 more ups after QD4 (side load), I need to know if I should be prepared to go that far if I proceed with QD4.
Getting repeated freezes on my Pixel XL. Had it since November. I've got about 20GB still free on the device, so it shouldn't be a storage issue. It seems to occur most when I open or am switching apps. I put the phone into safe mode for a few hours just to see if I can recreate this without any third party apps. It's PROBABLY an app that was never updated properly for Nougat or something but I am having a hard time trying to get logs etc since the device is stock and unrooted. I did pull a bug report maybe someone here has a clue what to look for. I've had 2 freezes today and 3-4 yesterday.
https://mega.nz/#!S8EGTKyQ!XX0DfWaukkzcnSOOBvYk23KNFeaR1Ok4yUxmwxFN8gU
My phone has also been constantly freezing and restarting for the past two weeks. It started out of the blue, No idea whats causing it, but it is really frustrating.
Are you guys on the may update? I never took the update and after about a week I don't see it anymore when searching for new updates. Don't know if they pulled the update cuz of all the recent problems. I'm not having any freezing issues though, rooted and stock on April.
Mine is also repeatedly freezing and restarting itself.
Strangely, though, it's nothing I'm doing... Because it will sometimes do it whilst sitting beside me on my desk. (I'll be ignoring it, "working", and suddenly I'll hear that little piano that plays when it boots, and glance over to see it halfway through restarting)
I am on the May update, but this started happening about a month ago. It's tricky, because it's intermittent, so I doubt sending it away for repair would yield a result.
Some XL 128gb pixels have faulty nand chips. The issue happens once the nand reaches a certain capacity. Not sure if that's your issue or not. If yours is 128gb id give Google a call for a replacement.
My wife's pixel 3xl recently started having this problem. It is completely unmodified stock, locked bootloader, reports it is on the latest update.
Wifi and bluetooth won't stay on. A reboot fixes it, but eventually they shut off again. Sometimes it lasts a few days after a reboot, sometimes less. Once they shut off, they can't be turned back on again. You can try and toggle them on with quick settings, but it doesn't actually work. Only a reboot fixes it.
I tried a factory reset a couple of weeks ago. That seemed like a cured it for about a week, but it's back.
It's a pretty aggravating problem. If I can't fix it soon, she's probably going to end up with a new phone. Anyone else seen this, or better yet, know a fix? I've done some searching in the forum and on the web in general, but I didn't find anything informative other than one webpage that talked about some pixels, especially the 4a, having problems like this after updating to android 11.
Well, I got fed up with android 11, and downloaded the last android 10 factory image.
After flashing that and factory resetting, I'm having different problems. Now the phone takes like 5 seconds for the screen to come on when waking with the power button.
I'm starting to think this thing is cursed, or has hardware problems. Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: I have no idea why this would make a difference, but I switched unlocking method from swipe to none this morning and that eliminated that long wake-up delay. It's back to fast and responsive like it should be.
Now to see if wifi and bluetooth are going to behave better on android 10.

You can try wakelock V3 and select 'CPU' and set as autostart on boot in the app settings to see if it wakes faster.
I can't believe that it worked for me. I was facing the same issue and I got frustrated. I was just serching and came across a reel showing fix regarding it. In that video person switched off his pixal tapped it on his leg (backside of phone) and then started it and keep tapping it on his leg while starting. It's really weird but I gave it a try. And can't believe it worked. Wife and Bluetooth both fixed now. Getting "on" now.
Ok, so like the title says, every 3-4 days I must reboot my phone.
When I play games, the game icon will show up in the lower right corner, I have everything for the game stuff turned off. I can click on the icon and it will ask me to turn on. I back out and it's gone for a few minutes. Mostly until I swipe back, then it will reappear. I can reboot the phone and it will work fine again for a another 3-4 days.
There are other instances that force me to reboot as well, one happened last night. I was scrolling through a local news app and the touch stopped working. I could not scroll up or down, and swiping back did not work. I had to lock the phone and just as the screen went dark, the phone scrolled in the directions I did and it backed out. This only happened when I hit the lock screen.
Is there a fix for this? Has anyone else experienced this?
My phone is rebooted on two to three occasions a month. Others have it more frequently. I wouldn't even say rebooted. Mine just shuts down at random times like other users so I don't know if there's a fix for this. I'm hoping there will be one within an update soon.
Google's absolutely ****ty disregard for their customers and customer service. I'm not Keen on sending a brand new device over to get a refurbished one that isn't guaranteed to solve the issue and most likely guaranteed to come with different issues that my device doesn't have already.
Does it back up to combat this since I have alarms set for work? In case the phone turns off, I don't want to miss work. I use my Google Home Mini speakers, a backup alarm.

Mine does not reboot or shutdown on it own, not once... I have to reboot every so often to keep it functional.
@thepersona My phone doesn't auto reboot either. I'd say do a backup and run https://flash.android.com/welcome to fully Factory Reset the phone and see if that helps (Mine upgraded just fine, but my parents both failed the Dec update and had random issues requiring the use of the Android Flash Tool).
Like the OP I do have to reboot my phone about every 3-4 days, but I don't attribute that just to Google Android, coders have become lax on how tight they keep their code, and I say that because in Windows 10 and Windows 11 you have to reboot every few days as well or see an increase in weird issues.

Just to clarify this, most carriers prevented the December update from releasing as Google has asked them to prevent it from going through, primarily due to an issue with calls dropping.
I always manually update my phone, however, I noticed the call dropping bug one day for about an hour straight.
But aside from this meaningless info, I agree with what you said: Attempt a factory reset and see what happens. I turn my phone off every night and charge it, so I don't notice any issues similar to what OP has mentioned.

Yeah mine did that it would randomly restart once a week no matter what I was doing but I did a factory reset and it hasn't happened since!

In your case, was it just a restart? Because mine literally powers off It doesn't reboot again. It shuts down in the middle of the night and I wouldn't know until I wake up when using my phone to figure out it won't turn on. I almost missed work on several occasions because of this lol

Yeah I was lucky and it was only once a week which was tolerable!
Something is definitely not right, hopefully is not a dodgy app but that would be preferable than something unfixable.
Ok guys you are missing my point and question. I DO NOT have the random reboots most have, but I have other issues that no one seem to have. Example, I listen to Spotify over night, I fall asleep to music, but 2 days ago it would randomly pause. At first I thought it was do not disturb that I just turned on, on my watch. It was not. Then I thought I may have been hitting my watch, I took it off and it still paused. I rebooted my phone and it's been fine since, no random pauses. Another example is, I play a game but I have the game dashboard turned off, but there times where the icon will pop up in the lower right. When I go into the settings for it, it shows it's off. When I go back to the game the icon is gone for a few minutes then it reappears. The only way for me to get it to stop showing for a few days is to reboot my phone.
I know you shouldn't have to reboot your phone every few days, and by few I mean sometimes it's 3-4 times a week. That tells me something is wrong.
Are you on the November or December update?
If November, I would try the December one.
Rooted or not rooted?
Either way, I would try a factory refresh and don't restore your apps from backup. Manually install only your most critical apps and see if you have the problem. Even better would be not install any additional apps at all and see if the problem happens. If it doesn't happen, install another small group of your most important apps and test again for long enough. Etc.
If you try thre update and/or factory reset, you could try restoring your cloud backup as normal and see if you have any problems still, but if you do, be prepared to factory reset and try like I mentioned in the above paragraph.
Until you can narrow down if the phone has this problem on the December update before you even change settings and add your favorite apps, then you won't know if it's the phone itself (possibly hardware problem), an app you have installed, a problem particular to a combination of factors including if you're on the November update, or what.
Good luck! Please let us know what happens.
I can tell you that until I updated to the December update I had the kinds of issues you had, where my P6P would malfunction (scrolling, just freezing) and I had to reboot the device. That was the first 6 weeks of using it. But when I updated to the December build, the issues for the most part went away. Hopefully you are on November and can update to December or wait until the January update drops. But I can say that I almost considered returning the phone due to the bugs until the December update resolved everything and it was like a new phone!
Good luck.

Awesome!!! This is the kind of news I like to hear..... Just waiting for att to send it through. I checked this morning as my work Verizon Samsung phone got an update.
