I am trying all available roms. Till I am not satisfied with the smoothness which I had on my last phone (VIOLET). Still searching. So far, Evolution X seems a better deal to me.

I tried lots of them and Im now running Paranoid Android (just installed it today) And it works great!
I was on MIUI 12 before but I wanted stock android so I chose this ROM
For now its working as expected, however you need to account for screen burn (image retention) and have an unlocked bootloader with TWRP or any custom recovery installed.
All cams work and I find it really smooth and usable for daily usage.

I was previously using Pixel Experience and it was Great! but the battery lasted a little less than on MIUI, the portrait camera didn't work and when recording videos they were corrupted and ended up "lasting 33 hrs" with the video frozen and just the audio working.
I'm currently using Paranoid Android and i haven't noticed any bug or problem :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

[Q] Stock 2.3.6 vs Custom ROMs

I bought my Galaxy W and instantly started modding it, currently I'm on Arco's CyanogenMod 9 EOL, I didn't have much experience with the stock ROM you actually get with the phone, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread with TouchWiz 4 UX.
My question is, is the stock ROM the most stable ROM with the best battery life you can get?
I would like to have some basic info like how smooth it is, the battery life, usability compared to the later CyanogenMod ROMs. I'd like to know whether its actually the best option except being kind of out of date now.
Thank you in advance :good:

From what I know the stock rom is better at keeping the battery use low during standby but i don't know whether that's true

I think that's true..
cause some Custom ROM come with some tweaks, some can keep the processor running low during standby. some also have some kind of better ram management.
Also if you want, you also can try some other kernel. cause some can even make longer battery life
switched for a tweaked stock 2.3.6 to a custom ICS and never looked back, the performance is just much better
I would say that my battery lasts longer with a custom rom. On stock sometimes it suddenly went off.
Currently I'm fine with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2214042. And the camera isn't green.

Best ROM for battery life?

What's the most stable and battery-friendly Lollipop custom ROM and kernel combination for the Z1C at the moment?
I've lost track after months of not upgrading my phone and would appreciate some pointers. Thanks!
I would recommend to not use LP if you are out for battery life.
KitKat, especially this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/rom-d550314-4-0-108latest-t2862578/page59 has the best battery life. I downgraded a while ago after it sucked down my battery every day and doesnt provide any advantages...

I agree with doenen.
Updated to 5.0.2 OTA (coming from 1 day old 4.3) and had a poor battery life. LP drained my battery from 100% to 30% in one day (12h) of occasional whatsapp, facebook and browsing.
I downgraded to Kitkat 4.4.4 (14.4.A.0.157_R2C, see here) and now I got from 100% to 20% in 3! days with the same activity (WLAN on, occasionally mobile data on, whatsapp, facebook and some chrome, airplane mode at night).
Kitkat is currently my favorite as battery life is one of my top priorities.

I generally agree but I'm currently using prerooted stock 5.0.2 and can easilly reach 2 days od battery life with the right use of Greenify and Amplify combination as well as stamina mode. I recommend you to have a look at those threads:

Thanks for your advice, but since I just purchased my Z1C I wanted to stay as close to stock as possible (also in case I need to make use of the warranty - though I am aware that my downgrading may already have voided that, but I decided to take that risk).
Thanks for the advice, guys! I'd rather be using a CM based ROM, rather than stock, cos I don't like the Sony interface too much. Are KK/LP ROMs that are based on CM that considerably worse at battery life than the stock versions?

I can only give you my experience with the Galaxy S2. I flashed CM11 Kitkat and the battery life was the same as with stock Jellybean.

I was using CM 12.1 nightlies for about 3 months and I can tell you it requires a lot of tweaking to make it battery friendly (I mean A LOT) and it still wasn't even close to KitKat or even stock Lollipop I'm using now. If you consider staying on KitKat I highly recommend this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2743177. It's not updated for some time but it worked for me for almost a year and battery life was great.

+1 for KitSlim_AMG, if you enable conservative governor and disable a few things in play services, you should get three day battery easily.
Problem with LP is wakelocks. If you have a messenger installed, it will keep the mobile radio active all the time.
Just flash a ROM with built in wakelock blocker (eg AICP) and you're good. My battery life improved on LP since it uses ART.
Miui works great too!! Two days and more are really well for me

I've actually been using the old version of the MobileActiveRadioFix for a while now, with success I might say. Good to hear it's getting updated.
Two months since I switched to LP and I first tried stock ROM, then on AOSP.
Thanks to the stamina sony feature, I hardly noticed any faster battery drain between KK and LP stock ROM.
But with AOSP rom the story is quite different !
I've found this really interesting post ([GUIDE]Extreme Battery Life Thread(Greenify+Amplify+Power Nap))
But battery life is still not at stock ROM's level
the best ROM for battery life has to be stock. I'm on stock 5.1.1, with moderate usage 30% battery life gets used up per day
I'm on Xposed but didn't need to use greenify or amplify either. just use the stock STAMINA mode, activate to always-on, whitelist the apps that you want to continue to receive messages when screen is off

Best ROM for this device?

Hi I've been using the default Xiaomi ROM since I bought this device about a year ago. It was working fine with the Android 9 upgrade, but I noticed Android 10 runs noticeably slow. So I want to change the ROM, but I'm unaware if the issues are because of Xiaomi ****ing up, or if Android 10 is not light enough for the device. So I want to know which custom ROM of the ones available in this forum would best suit me if what I'm looking for is reliability and speed. I would like to stay in Android 10 if possible, so if anyone got experiences with custom Android 10 ROMS that could give some insight into their performance with this device I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
HavocOS is pretty nice, also Pixel Experience is pretty nice but when I was testing it, it had pretty bad battery 5-6h SoT. If I were you I would wait for POSP to be updated which should hopefuly happen soon. I personally use HavocOS vanilla and it works great, only issue I have is bluetooth audio that stutters rarely, and battery might not satisfy you. I get about 8h of SoT, while on stock android one I was able to get 12-13h

I don't have any problem with those, but I used 11.0.10.0 as base and everything works as it should. Also it might be cause by newer version, on 3.8 I had no problems and I didn't install 3.9 yet

How's the battery life on it? I'm looking for something that runs great and have battery life comparable to that of android one, sadly we all know android one is bugged as hell

By default the OS is almost not dozing, so you can see a bit more of battery usage, but you can tweak the kernel to save battery and make it last "forever", see the instructions on butterfly kernel post.

are you using it ,how long? is it stable? camera LOS?
DotOS(current), PE, Arrow and Miui.eu imo Dot performs best overall. For camera I have GCam (Urynx port) and its amazing. Just waiting for LineageOS or Paranoid Android to release for this device. TBH, all of these are equally good for daily use, it's just that I prefer the UI of Dot and it's a bit better in terms of gaming performance.
Pixel Experience with PE Recovery and using BSG Gcam version 8.1.101.
Getting near 2 days on a full charge, with over 5 hours SoT.
Way better and smoother than stock and I haven't had any weird overheating or reboots since installing. (Happened a bunch with stock ROM!)
Haven't tried other roms to compare because it's too much effort...
I have tried almost all the roms, and so far almost all of them runs fine.

Battery comparison as of 02.Jan 2021

So first of all, happy new year everyone!!
Compared to stock rom, does the battery life fares better with the custom roms released so far? Did you get more SOT hours with a custom rom compared to stock rom?

Up to rom and kernel.
Some can get 9-11 SOT with stock rom and custom kernel.
Custom rom usually add more SOT. I can reach 14-16 SOT hours easily with no gaming. And my normal daily usage is around 10 hours.
I used device from July 2020.

I've been complaining about battery drain with WiFi on for a long time. If you search the forum you'll see my nagging.
The problem started either with MIUI 12.5.x or Android 11. MIUI 12.0.x with Android 10 Custom ROMs don't have the WiFi battery drain.
I haven't tried Android 12 Custom ROMs yet, so I don't know how the battery is with it. Currently I'm using the latest version of https://crdroid.net/begonia/6.
I need at least a few more days to be sure how it goes.

MIUI 12.0.x doesn't have battery drain with WiFi On, but I can't stand its interface.
Using an old version of a Custom ROM (MIUI 12.0.x based on Android 10) is an alternative, but be prepared for SafetyNet to be broken.

Well, I haven't used any phone with their stock launcher, so maybe that's why I don't mind it. And stock miui 12, with a nova launcher, and some pixel themes from the store does makes the phone ui overall better

After using this for a while the WiFi battery drain doesn't happen on this ROM.
