At this point I have given up on Android Q on this device and I'm having problems to decide which firmware version to downgrade to. I don't need latest bells and whistles, I like my phone plain and simple with no lags/freezes and minimal amount of bugs. I was overall happy sitting on latest Pie update, but Im not sure if performance was better on latest Oreo firmware since it has been such a long time.
What are your takes on this? Should I go for latest Pie or Oreo firmware?

If I would go back to 9 (pie) I would try to find the version which still had the dt2w function. There's 2 different display version of mi a2 lite and because of that they figured it's easier just to remove the function and push out 1 update that fits both version rather than working on 2 separate update just for 1 phone model.

I'm pretty sure my phone has a screen without dt2w function anyway. If dt2w function is on by default, then it should work here on android Q as well unless they disabled it universally? Because here I am, tapping on the screen and its not waking up and never has before either
Thanks for your quick answer. So I should be looking at flashing V10.0.20.0, it seems to be the last Pie firmware looking from here.

Hello! i have Good News, People in the MIUI Global Beta Program are getting Android 9.0 Pie!
What I have noticed currently:
The Space Between the Apps and Notch has disappeared.
The "Hide-Notch" Feature doesn't use the Notch Area as a Status Bar Area Anymore now, It now completely hides the notch, only leaving the LCD Backlight.
Camera2API is still not supported.
Cool! Is it faster or has battery improvements if you noticed anything by now?

Is there an estimated release date available?
Global Beta is available officially if you want it now, as for the Stable i'm not sure when it will be released
I was really disappointed seeing Redmi Note 7 coming with Camera2 Api enabled and the 8 Lite still with it disabled. There is no excuses for that.

It has only been a day of using it, i have not seen if it has better Battery Life, the performance seems to be the same as the phone on Oreo.

Yeah, it really does suck, they didn't even enable some Camera2API features, just none of it.

If rooted, it is easy enough to add to the system/build.prop. Sure it is a PiTA, but once added, it works well. Saving in RAW mode was pretty important to me which made rooting my device well worth it. I will wait for the official release version, or an ASOP ROM when one becomes available.

Can it be installed with the "local update" method (from the Global Oreo based release) or it must be installed withc "fast boot" udpate method?

You mean stable to beta ROM?
Probably you will need to install 9.1.17 Oreo beta and then update to 9.2.15 Pie. It'll erase your data but that's it. You can do it with MIUI installer without trouble.
Any links???

That link doesn't work on the Global version.

Do not do this, because if you do, you will probably make your device unusable. Read this before: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-3/help/help-mi-max-3-hard-bricked-anti-roll-t3834769 and mostly this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-3/how-to/anti-rollback-activated-mi-max-3-t3830448

It is possible to go to 10.0.1.0 Global Oreo or Even 8.11.23 beta Oreo, etc.
You need to unlock bootloader first and then have some flash the firmware by remote EDL. Meaning you have to pay money for that service.
The only Oreo version you cannot go back to is 9.6.6.0, its just not possible because the ARB number is not 4.

This version of Miui does not, because the ARB is active. If you try, you'll probably have a lot of work to do to fix it. Have you tried any rom xiaomi.eu or any GSI? Overall, they are better than the global stock.
I've been anticipating the Android 9 update for my XA2 for a while. I see most people are getting it and for some reason I just don't have it. I'm still on 8.0 and the System Update section says I'm at the latest version. Am I missing something?

Although its very irritating situation for any Android user that he/she have device which have been got latest Android version by manufacturer but they doesn't get yet, but in XA2 case i feel its much batter that this device user stay on oreo after getting pie experience.. believe me its really useless update, don't have even new launcher 9 and user interface, and the most disappointing thing is worst camera performance that previous, camera was perform well when XA2 was on oreo, but now i am feeling my device like a piece of **** and nothing
Try download a android 9.0 based ROM via latest XperiFirm and flash via newflasher (this app is for all platforms like Linux, MacOSX, Windows) but fist find guide how to flash this ROM because you will first must delete some .ta files before flashing.
Lucky you, I miss the oreo camera so much. Better skip this OTA.
Hi. So I'm a new op7t owner and came from the op5, I'm familiar with stable and open beta versions on the op5 but this is not the same on the op7t. I have attached my info screen which is the version the phone came with so it may help to answer my questions,
When I try to install the open beta 2 from the official op pages it's saying the open beta 2 is a downgrade so I can't do this... however there is no ob3 or ob4 for me to install on the official web !!
Ob2 is the only version download available and also the stable version on the official op is an older version too to what I have now.
How am I supposed to switch over to the beta when it's only showing ob2 and Where are the ob3/4 versions ?
Very confusing compared to how easy switching from beta to stable and vice versa was on the one plus 5 !
Any help is appreciated ?
Regards

Thanks for responding, is this an official updater from OnePlus ? Excuse my ignorance but why would this be any better than the official oneplus software update pages ?
Thanks
The issue is that you have an EU handset likely with EU firmware if you haven't messed around with it yet.
For whatever reason EU updates are pulled back and regularly get behind the global and Indian versions.
I have absolutely no idea of whether there are issues introduced by flashing global firmware but I have had to do so today in order to get to beta 4.
So you have to download Oxygen Updater, go to advanced settings and change your phone to Oneplus 7t (not EU - this will switch to global), switch download option to full beta, download it and flash it as a local update.
There is absolutely no documentation or answers from OnePlus regarding the differences between firmware versions from what I can see.. only speculation from those whom have delved into the update packages and users whom have noticed subtle differences.
Long story short, if you want to try the betas you're better off switching to global at the moment.

I don't know why they don't update their website. I guess the easiest way is the updater app.
Thanks for the replies, very helpful. I just can't understand how I'm on a higher version that is actually listed in the UK official support upgrades pages !
Because the website for whatever reason hasn't been updated.
The latest stable EU release on the website seems to be 10.0.7, where in fact your device should have done an ota update to 10.0.9 out of the box. You also can't install Beta 2 that's listed on the site as it's older than 10.0.9
As suggested, Oxygen Updater is the best way to see what updates are actually available and the global firmware is the only one that seems to be updated regularly atm.
It's not an official OnePlus tool but the firmware is referenced and downloaded from OnePlus servers.

The Beta was available for a short time for EU and Global, and then it was pulled for both and put back up but not for EU (according to my Oxygen Updater)
https://www.xda-developers.com/onep...14-4-ambient-display-clocks-may-2020-patches/ (See update #1)
I just double checked and even through Oxygen Updater (with Advanced Mode turned on), device set to OnePlus 7T (EU), Open Beta (Full), Only Oxygen OS Open Beta 2 is available (I'm currently back on 10.0.9 EU as I didn't want to be on Global not knowing what the differences are)
Moral of the story is though that there's either inconsistencies across devices, or you received the update before it was pulled, or OnePlus are just utterly useless at update cycles... I believe the latter lol.

Use oxygen updater. Did it not work?
Basically, it just changed the user interface of Coloros 12 to OOS12, which is a completely different system compared to the previous OOS, and within half an hour after I updated to OOS12, I was back to OOS11. It's a complete waste of time
i agree oos12 is ****ing dogwater lmao
Is it possible to install ColorOS 12 over OOS12?
Why did Oneplus ruin my new oneplus 9 pro with this crap. Now I am back to rooting and Rom'ing, in order to be on android 12 that isn't a complete disaster?
(rhetorical question).
I thought 11 was a downgrade from 10, as well. But nothing like this. And I could get 10 for 9 pro, since it released with 11

For what it's worth, OOS 11 did not give me the performance on the 5G Network that OOS 12 is giving me now.
OOS 11 I simply edited the policy restrictions in order to access the 5G cell towers and the download speeds were 50% slower than a comparable 5G capable handset (iPhone 13 pro max, Motorola Razr 5G, One+ 8T 5G). Even after unlocking the bootloader, rooting and reapplying the modified policy restriction.xml the One+ 9 Pro on the OOS 11 had poor 5G download speed.
OOS 12 with unlocked bootloader, rooted, and using 5G switch (playstore app) the 5G download speeds improved greatly. I would say they are 50% faster than same handset on OOS 11. I cannot access engineering mode and therefore modify the policy restriction.xml file like on OOS 11, but given the faster download speeds I'll take it for now. For what it's worth, 5G switch would not work on OOS 11.
Another great option that OOS 12 has is a separate volume level for Ringtone and Text Tone. I NEED to be able to hear my text tone alert (which is usually a very short burst) all the while keeping the volume of the ring tone down so that I can take my time to analyze who is calling without disturbing those around me. OOS 11 combines ring tone and text tone under one forced volume setting, which blows imho.
I personally don't find the interfaces of the two much different, and cannot say that I have noticed any real speed differences or battery consumption pros and cons. I do like the graphical design of OOS 11 over OOS 12, but that can be improved by using different Launchers if that is your thing.
Cheers
Buyer beware - the latest OTA for OOS 12 comes with (apparently) an encrypted-ish bootloader that refuses to boot patched/rooted kernels or recoveries. I learned this the hard way on my 8t. So if you want keep root, it's MSM and custom ROM time.

Nothing new and nothing to be worried about. You need to disable boot verification by flashing a blank Vbmeta.img, and after that everything works like it's out of the box.
