So I debloated my S20+ but obviously deleted something related to the Software update functionality, but I cannot figure which apps are linked to software update so I can reinstall them, any ideas? thanks
I read somewhere that if you don't flash the correct firmware files you lose the software update. For example, I flashed all the zipped ROM files from an unlocked firmware and had the option. I mixed the unlocked firmware with the AT&T csc and the option was gone. I flashed all AT&T firmware with CSC and had the option come back
I found the 3 apps linked to software update functionality and reinstalled them via adb, all good now.

Hi, I am new to all this updating etc, so i have a few humble questions, and hope some of you more familiar with the process could guide in the right direction.
My device is stock with 4.1.2 firmware XXBMC8/XXBMD1
1: My N5100 is India Version so would the German Update / release that is available on sammobile online work on mine.
2: What precautions etc do i have to take on my device if any. When I bought my Note 8 there was an OTA update which ran fine
and gave no issues or data loss.
3. Do I Have to take backups of my apps and have to re-install them ?
4. Any other tips / precautions i am missing.
sorry if am sounding bit paranoid.
Thanks!

1. Yes the German version should work fine for you.
2. I just did a Titanium backup of my apps "in case" there was a wipe before I flashed the update. I have a South African 32GB N5100 the update worked perfectly. However you may not receive future OTA updates due to the ROM being for a different region.
3. Always a good idea.
4. The first time is always the worst, once you see how it is done you may not be able to stop though.

Thanks a lot,
Bit the bullet and went with the update.
Everything went smooth.
only Minor issue I see is that, Kies does not recognize the firmware.
All apps and data seem to be as they were , though I took app backups to pc via helium as well as synced kies prior update in case anything went awry.
Now to find out what's new addition to 4.2.2 other than few things pretty obvious
Thanks again.

I used the Odin3-v1.85 file included in the CF-Auto-Root to flash the image.

New firmware T700ZSU1ANL1 and T800ZSU1ANL1 (Hong Kong both).*
Can i install these in europeans tablets?
Thanks
Any ideas?
I have installed it on the US WiFi only version, so I don't see it being a problem, if it doesn't install you can always Odin back to your stock rom... if you have a 3/4g type tablet then you may want to not flash it..... I'm digging the new kernel personally.

Can anyone confirm that flashing update from a different region manually via Odin on an unrooted device will have exactly the same result as if it was an official OTA update (apart maybe from overwriting /data).
So there should be no problem getting OTA Lollipop when it eventually arrives? And apps which check if device is rooted like the banking and TV ones(Barclays, Sky Go etc) should be seeing 100% official unrooted OS?

Theres an app calplled root cloak to hide root from apps. I dont really care on being on stock rom just to get ota lollipop. There would most liekly be a custom rooted lollipop rom when lollipop is out.

Unfortunately none of the cloaking apps work on Sky Go or Barclays and other banking apps. Neither does RootCloak or RootCloak Plus Xposed mods .
That is why I asked the question. Not really bothered if it just means losing OTAs - provided everything else is still 100% official unrooted after Odin upgrade of UK tab with HK firmware. That's why I ask will this be the case?

I do not know.
My intention when the Lollipop version is released is to repeat the procedure and flash via Odin. I live in Argentina and here things come too late.

Yeah, I'd do that too. But these apps are too important to me to risk losing them so I will probably just chicken out and wait for the OTA. Thing is, if the update works, I can't see any reason why the root-checking apps would be able to tell except if they were spotting non-UK codes. I do know their checks are a lot more sophisticated than looking only for the presence of SU and busybox. They for sure examine parts of the kernel and the DRM files as well.
My logic tells me that if the apps don't work with the HK firmware then all I need do is to flash back to the official UK XXU1 version. That's why I am just asking is anyone knows of any other differences that might be exposed using the Odin method to update?
Hello, iv recently bought this device for my dad, and at the moment the rom version is 2.15.40.13
and iv followed basic guides how to do OTA update, suddently i have seen that i dont have any check for updates in my "about" settings, and im missing Software update app alltogether.
Can anyone upload or link me this app? or suggest any help in the matter?
thank you alot.
Are you experienced with using adb? There are a number of options available you can download each successive update and update that way by placing them on your sdcard, or you can flash the current one directly using bootloader or adb sideload, to flash through bootloader you will find the complete tutorial and links to the files in the thread for changing from CN to WW, the instructions and files for adb sideload are located on the ASUS support site.

Maybe something missing in system files.
Can you please give us some detail about your device?
By flashing a new complete Rom you won't lose any data unless you reset the device on this phone your data is not removed when you flash, but you will get a clean install of the OS

Same problem here!
Hello, I have the same problem pointed at in the topic. My zenfone2 comes from china but hosts a WW firmware.
When I turn it on, a chinese banner appears, then the Asus logo, then all goes well, aside from some bugs that I learned were solved in later firmwares.
I've tried updating manually, but the phone doesn't prompt the installation after saving the latest firmware .zip in the root of its internal storage.
Would it work using the method of renaming the .zip file into "MFOD_SDUPDATE.zip", placing it into SD card and then restarting in Recovery Mode? Should I do this with the latest firmware or am I supposed to go through all the updates up to the latest one?
Edit: I put the official .zip file in sd card and renamed it "MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip". I then turned on the phone in recovery mode and update started automatically. I actually forgot to make sure that my recovery is same SKU as firmware, but I must have been lucky, 'cause everything worked well!

Try the system update from the HiSuite. I didn't get it from the phone system update but the update became available in the HiSuite software (PC).

I'm gonna take a big guess and say I'll lose root if I do this.
Edit: Can't update. Have TWRP. Don't have stock boot file for my US Honor 6X. No available links in the sticky forum either.

These are the files needed for the update (B366 version):
https://mega.nz/#F!7clljDYQ!DjUTltO2GOHfBlHDndmCvQ
After the update, just flash TWRP and root again. None of your settings or apps/data will be affected (unless you've something that changes system files such as xposed framework - this can be resolved by reinstalling exposed zip)

Nope, I never had to. If the update re-locks the bootloader, your data partition will be wiped. As said above, the update does not affect your data (as also noted by Huawei's update info which says "This update will not erase your personal data, but we recommend that you back up any important data before updating.").
Got it! But I saw B368 on Firmware Finder.

I got B367 on Saturday via notification. I'm the only one of three in the family thus far to get it, so it's definitely a slow roll out. I was super excited when I realized it also magically fixed my lagging camera-startup issue. :good:
That is, until today, when I realized I still had a massively lagging camera. Sigh...
Please tell me we'll soon get Oreo AND a camera fix.
Hi, I have some spare time now and need to reinstall my Fold3 anyway.
So I would like to test Android 13 and am looking for the safest way, of course without triggering knox.
Can I download and flash via Odin Indian firmware from here: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-F926B/bit/all/av/T(Android 13) ?
Or should I register as a beta tester?
My csc code is OXM via *#1234# and EUX via "samsung phone info" app.
Which way to go, please? Or point me please in the right direction.
Thank you.
Good question, im also interested in going odin way, so i could also need a secured way
I downloaded the INU rom and to keep data flash HOME_CSC, it keeps the csc that you have now
So did I. I flashed INU on my EUY F926B. When you flash Home-CSC you will keep your data.

Been there, done that, if you have critical work apps, then wait for the official update if you are not 100% sure what you are doing.
ODIN says succeeded, so im crossing fingers. Have worked with it on an older Galaxy before, but never with Firmware from another country. In CSC ive taken the HOME_CSC_OXM_F926BOXM2DVK3_MQB58858275_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5.
That should be right
