Hi guys,
I just got my S20 and to my great disappointment, it doesn't charge off one of my USB-C PD power supply (Navilock 60W PD) and it also only "slow"-charges from my Apple 87W USB-C charger. At least, when it is on. When powered off, it charges with both chargers (although I cannot tell if it fast-charges). Does anyone have an idea why or perhaps how to fix this? Also let me know if you're experiencing a similar issue.
Edit: What else I tested:
Same PS, Samsung cable (still doesn't work)
Same PS with different phones (Mi 9, Mi 10, both work with fast charging)
Same PS with laptop (Dell XPS 15, works @60W)
Samsung PS with Samsung cable (works)
Hi,
You cannot fix this issue because samsung's fast charge only works with samsung PS.
they use the USB-PD standard but Galaxy smartphones detects whether it is samsung hardware or not (to avoid the risk of overloads, electrocution and fires with counterfeits and maybe for others reasons... )
in addition, it is indicated in the charging parameters that to ensure proper functioning of the device, you need to use officials Samsung accessories.
If you need an additional charger, you'll have to buy Samsung.

According to some owners of the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra, their phone either refuses to charge at times or the charging keeps getting interrupted every few minutes, requiring them to unplug the charging cable and then plug it in again. This happens with both official and third-party chargers – wireless charging is unaffected. A device restart apparently helps for a while before the issue crops up again. It doesn’t seem to be a hardware fault, as some users say the issue was introduced after a software update.
It also doesn’t seem to be very widespread, as there are very few reports on Samsung’s community forums over the last few months, and most of them are from Germany. Of course, even a few reports should be investigated, especially when they have to do with a device’s charging capabilities. None of our devices here at SamMobile are affected, but we have reached out to Samsung and will update you once we get a response.
In the meantime, do let us know if your Galaxy S20, S20+, or S20 Ultra is plagued with these charging issues by leaving a comment below.
https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-galaxy-s20-charging-issues-troubling-some-owners/
Using a standard USB-PD charger, the S20 range will only charge at 10W. This is because the S20 charges at 9V (I measured it at 8.3V though) and not at 12 or 20V which the USB-PD charger can provide. As a result, the next available voltage is 5V Check if your charger supports 9V output.
Newer USB-PD chargers Rev 2 AND with PPS will be able to negotiate 9V charging, but even so will be limited to up to 3A output. So you only get 27W of charging at most even with a 100W rated USB-PD Rev2 charger..
Hi, my S20+ (g9860) fast charges with a MacBook Pro charger. Don't know if it's to do with the chipset? I.e. exynos Vs Snapdragon?
I have a Xiaomi Fast Charger that's capable of providing 27W @ 9v/3A. Initially when used on my S20 G9810 SD865 model, it showed slow charging. However, I found a setting under Settings - Device Care - Battery - Charging. There is an option for Fast Charging but that was toggled off. Super Fast Charging and Fast Wireless charging were toggled on. I turned on Fast Charging and now when I'm using the Xiaomi charger, it shows Fast Charging when plugged in.
i have a 65W pd charger that works perfectly with my 20+, fast charge works without a problem, even got a non samsung cable to go with it.
i got it on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Baseus-GaN...-0-for-iPhone-USB-Phone-Charger-/184010071627

Looks like you found a very good charger that can replace the included Samsung charger. What current does it charge at? Does Accubattery say it is charging at 5000-5500 mA?

Does it say Super Fast Charge 2.0 when you charge with it? Or just Fast Charge?
I have a number of chargers that I use with my S20 Ultra. Depending on the combination of charger and cable that I use, I can get the following charge modes:
1) Fast Charge - 9V/2A - QC2.0 / Samsung AFC
2) Super Fast Charge - 9V/3A - USB PD
3) Super Fast Charge 2.0 - 9V/4A - USB PD with PPS

i have no idea what current it uses, and my phone is already fully charged so i guess accubattery won't show the max current until i drain my battery a bit, i'll try it later.
it doesn't say super fast charge 2.0 since i have a s20+ (that doesn't have it, only the ultra has it) but it does say super fast charge, and the original charger does say the same thing.

It just says Fast Charge.
With Fast Charge toggled on, Accubattery shows 3000 mA
With Fast Charge toggled off, Accubattery shows 1800 mA.
I have the S20 with the 4000 mV battery.
To fast charge the S20+/S20 Ultra, you need a newer fast charger that not only support PD, but also the new PPS specification where the power supply can output 3.3V-11V (continuous programmable) and at least a 3A at those voltage. For 45W charging, you further need a PPS power supply which can output 5A at 3.3V-11V.
Most of the existing USB-PD power adapters do not support PPS and thus will not be able to super fast charge the Note 10+/S20 range of phones. The newer PPS adapters are slowly appearing now.
My Xiaomi charger is a 27W charger that does 9V/3A. Once I toggled the Fast Charge option on, I can charge my S20 using the full 27W.

I have the Samsung 45W travel charger which is supposed to support everything that is required to get the quickest charging from the S20U, but it still only charges at 30-32W.
Hi,
I have similar issue with my S20 (Snapdragon 865)。I have tested 2 different brand PPS chargers and 1 PD chargers and official 25W charger, the results are very weird.
1. Baseus 45w pps charger: S20 shows super charging but only get 9.3V*1.4A while Xiaomi Mi9 get 9V*3A.
2. Xiaomi 65w pps charger: S20 shows super charging but only get 9.2v*1.5A while S5e tablet get 9.3v*1.9A.
3. RAVPower 45w PD charger: S20 shows fast charging and get 9.2v*1.4A while S5e tablet get 9v*1.9A..
4. Official 25w pps charger: S20 shows super charging and get 9.2v*1.7A.
All results are tested when the phone battery below 50%。
What I found is my S20 's charging speed is never above 16 Walts when boot into system with whatever chargers and cables. It only charges at 25 Walts when the phone is turn off.
And another weird thing is after a firmware update (I forgot which one.), my S20 won't show fast charge when I use a PD charger and only charges at 5V/2A. It can only get fast charging when I do the following steps (turn off fast charge option before charging and plug the cable and wait for the 'You can turn on fast charge' popup shows and click OK), it now get the fast charge feature till next reboot.
I hope someone can reach Samsung and report to them. Thx!
Sorry for my bad English.

Have you checked what your CPU and battery temperatures are when you charge the phone while it is on? The S20 will slow down charging if it is too hot.

The battery temperature is around 36C. The room temperature is around 26C. Since my Note10 and S5e tablet can charge normally with these chargers, I still think it's a firmware bug that cause the problem.

Hi,
I bought the incipio QC 2.0 car charger.
I got a Z3 Compact and I cannot seem to get the QC 2.0 working.
I charges about 1% /min which is the same speed as the EP880 charger that came with the box. Batterymonitor tells me it pulls about 1700Ma from the charger.
However, according to other threads QC 2.0 should be charging about 2% /minute up to about 70% of battery. I'm using the original cable and connect to USB port, not the magnetic port.
Is it possible to know if the phone is charging at 5v or 9v? according to QC 2.0 it should be charging at 9V. But if that was the case then I should be getting more than 1%/minute.
Has anyone verified that this works ?
BR
//senz
I don't own a quick charger but with my charger the phone pulls 5.3v and 2100mah. I'm using a USB power monitor to get the readout. It's very fast at charging maybe these 2%/min..
Could you provide me a link to that 9v charging? Never heard about this before...

Hi,
Since I'm a new member on XDA I cannot post links.
But search for Qualcomm quick charge 2.0 and you find the qualcomm site.
Qualcomm lists the Z3 Compact as a QuickCharge 2.0 enabled device as long as you have a certified Quickcharge 2.0 charger.
I got this repsonse from Incipio support, which is the manufacturer of the charger.
"Hello
Thank you for your email. The quick charge will output 5V unless the device you are using is quick charge 2.0 compatible. If you are using a device that is quick charge 2 compatible, the charger will then output 9V. I am unaware if the Z3 compact has qucik charge capabilities, but if it does, there is no special cable required. I hope this helps! If you have additional questions, please let us know.
Kind Regards, "
Try charging the phone when the battery is below 10%. The quick charge will not work once the battery reaches a certain level. I think once the battery reaches 30-40%, quick charging stops and regular charging begins. It could be different for different phones and I am just making an estimate here.
I don't see why you bought a third party one when the EP880 is a quick charger. Did you face any issues with the EP880?

The EP880 is indeed a quickcharger (QuickCharge 1.0 spec, 5v, 1.5A), but not a QuickCharge 2.0 charger.
De big difference is that a QuickCharge 2.0 charger will charge the phone twice as fast as the EP880(QC 1.0). The other difference is that a quickcharge 2.0 charger will output 5v, 9v or 12v depending on what device is connected.
The Z3 Compact is compatible with QuickCharge 2.0 according to Qualcomm and should charge at 9v if connected to a certified QC 2.0 charger.
Hope that explains why I bought a third party charger.

this is the voltage specification of the charger... 5v 2A normal charge (blue led indicator) 9v2A is quick charge 1.0 (blue led indicator) and when you connect a compatible device is a green led indicator 12v 1.5 is quick charge 2.0..
Pros: - Fast charge 0 - 70 % in a 1h10min
cons: - doesn't recognize the cellphone with the magnetic charging cable as a quick charge 2.0 (only indicates with the blue led indicator as a normal device :crying: )
Yea I wished quick charging worked with the magnetic adapter but I only charge at night anyways. Though when I do need a boost fast I will use USB. I got my tenergy for $20 on amazon.

i think 0-60% is with the phone off... ill try it.
Just got my own quickcharger 2.0 and I can confirm it doesn't work on the magnetic port. This is no surprise, as QC 2.0 needs the data ports of the USB port that the magnetic port doesn't have.
I'll play with it a little bit more later but with the actual USB cable plugged in to the mini-usb connector I saw 7.5V and 0.7Amps being pulled in, so that's definitely Quickcharge 2.0. although it was only about 5W going in. Charge was around 80% so that must be why it was not pulling in more juice at the end of charge.
I'm on the USA stock firmware, latest version.
Hi,
Im located in Sweden with firmware 23.0.1.A.5.77
The thing is that the phone pulls about 1800mA from the QC 2.0 charger (according to battery monitor).
Even with this new firmware it charges about 1%/minute. (0-60% in ~55minutes).
This is not the "QC 2.0" speed. Sony doesn't seem to have any official information about it.
today i tested charging from 0% with the phone off.. 0-30 min only 37%... next i turned on the phone and charge 30-60 min to 65%, 60-90min 90% and 90-120min 98% pretty dissapointed about the quick charge 2.0 ;(

My thoughts is that.
1. QC 2.0 is not fully supported by Z3 compact, or at least by the latest generic firmware
2. Maybe it will come a future FW update that will support this
3. It could be that the hardware (battery?) does not support QC 2.0 and therefore Sony didn't implement it.
4. It could be that other revisions of Z3 has slightly different hardware and some has QC 2.0 capability and others do not.
so many questions, so few answers
I don't have hard data, but I recent bought (and have since returned!) a Power Partners PEAW30-12-USB QC 2.0 charger and saw NO decrease in charge time compared to the stock Sony charger. Very disappointing. No potential of QC 2.0 functionality thru the magnetic charger sucks anyway.
I got myself a QC 2.0 from amazo (Aukey) which is Qualcom certified.
charging mij Z3Cwith the QC2 goes just as fast as my 5port 40W charge station (2A / port) @ 1355mA
when plugged my z3 Tablet Compact into the QC2 charger it charges upto 2677mA !
so short to say, Z3 compact is not QC2 ready
Z3 Tablet compact is
hopefully they enable this with some FW upgrade

For your information EP881 is not a QC 2.0 charger.
Done some testing and the Z3 Compact pulls 9v , 1A from the QC 2.0 charger. According to voltage the handshake between the QC 2.0 charger and the Z3 Compact seems to be working as the phone pulls 9v and not 5v from the QC 2.0 charger.
I would love to see it charge at 9v, 2A which is the true QC 2.0 speed.
Sony can't explain why it's only pulling 9v, 1A. Hopefully we will get an answer within the next months or so

Here's the one from the Note7
And this is from Samsung's website. The terminology under fast charging is a bit muddled. I take it to mean that the charging tech Samsung's using in the Note7 is proprietary and if you use the charger with other USB-C or legacy Samsung devices it drops down to standard 2A charging like the previous adaptive charger.
Fast Charging
With new 25W USB-C Fast Charge technology, your battery can go from zero to up to 50% in about 30 minutes, so you can spend less time connected to an outlet. The 25W USB-C Fast Charge wall charger will charge the Galaxy Note7 and other USB-C devices without the Fast Charging feature as well, with up to a 2 Amp charging rate.
Rapid Charging
The Samsung Fast Charge Wall Charger plugs into any standard wall outlet via the included AC adapter. This Samsung charger has a standard output of 2 Amp to give your phone power at a much faster rate than your typical 1 Amp or 700mAh charger.
Flexibility
The Samsung Wall Charger also comes with a detachable USB to USB-C cable, which allows you to charge your phone from the USB port on your computer or other USB power source if you aren’t near a wall outlet. You can sync and transfer files with your Galaxy or any other smartphone using the USB-C cable.

This has been my confusing question. I assumed they would give it the more QC3 type rapid charge of some sort but wasn't sure. Glad its able to. I never use cabled charge but when I do, its because I need it stat. The more "stat" the better in that example.
This might be a thread hijack (if so, I can make a new thread), but anyone know if I'll get rapid charging if I were to plug the phone into my computer's USB 3.1 Type C port? (desktop PC)

Hard to say. I know the computer supports USB Power Delivery 2.0 through that port (using an onboard Intel USB 3.1 controller), but apparently the phone would need to support that as well (and I don't know what profiles of USB Power Delivery the controller supports).

I'm guessing neither because Samsung didn't use Qualcomm's Quick Charge feature on the S7-series. Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging seems to be proprietary and is used on both Exynos and Snapdragon phones. Hence the terminology in the product description for the adapter that says "The 25W USB-C Fast Charge wall charger will charge the Galaxy Note7 and other USB-C devices without the Fast Charging feature as well, with up to a 2 Amp charging rate." I take that to mean that Samsung's charger and cable aren't USB-C spec compliant and won't work beyond the standard 2A output with other devices including those using USB-C. Once the phone's out I'm sure there will be lots of threads/posts discussing what Samsung's interpretation of USB-C really is.
Wait a minute...25W charging rate, even with a middling 75% transfer efficiency, should charge the battery by 50% in 20 minutes. And at 75% eff (a good charger would be in the 80s), it would make the phone pretty hot, as it would be dissipating 6W in waste heat. That's twice the power of the Snapdragon running full tilt. I'll be interested to see what th real rate is.
The phone is NOT going to charge at 12V/2.1A/25W. Samsung is likely just "future-proofing" chargers for a little while or making them compatible with larger devices that need more power. Nothing new in regards to the Note7's charging capability.

Nor did mine.
I'd like to know if anyone has tested a Samsung 25W charger with the Note 7. The fact that they included a 15W charger speaks to the contrary, but it's currently an unknown.
The Note7 is listed as a supported device if you pull up the 25watt charger on Samsung's website

Well for sure it doesn't support USB PD @ 29 W from the Macbook USB-C charger. Seems to only get 5-10 W out of it, and same from the Macbook itself.
Where did the 12V/2.1A/25.2W charger come from?
Mine came with a 5V/2A and 9V/1.67A charger.
Edit - so I did some research online. That charger was meant for the Galaxy Tab Pro S? Which functions more like a Windows 10 laptop than a tablet.
Are you sure the EP-TA300 is compatible with the Exynos Note 7?
A Chinese Website Chongdiantou has proven that both the Snapdragon 820 and the Exynos 8890 variants of Note 7 support USB Type-C Power Delivery and can handle up to 25W of power input.
I am not allowed to post outside links. You can google "实测:这几款USB PD充电器支持三星Note7快充-充电头网" and see the readings on the power monitor.

Hmmm... Dont know if I'd plug my Not 7 into that new Super fast charger as of now. It may charge it much faster but with a 50/50 chance of it exploding every charge is too risky for me.
I have these two. One is much larger then the stock Note 7 charger. Note 7 stock on the left and the fat boy on the right. Both came with USB-C cables.
Is the fat one on the right safe to use with the Note 7?
Hi guys, the Zenfone 3 deluxe supports qualcom quick charge 3.0 however it seems to be locked to the oem charger. Any other licenced qc 3.0 charger does not quick charge the phone. How hard would it be to get around this? Mainly for qc 3.0 powerbanks.

This is not true. I am using this one - https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01EH11AS8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and the quick charge 3.0 works fine. I am still using the original type-c cable that came with the phone though.
Note: Make sure that you have plugged in the USB end of the charger correctly, push it all the way in. If it's only pushed in partially, then you may not be getting the full power for Quick Charge. You can verify this by using a tool like AIDA64 from the playstore and checking the "Charge Rate" under battery.
This is where I was told it's not supported.

Update: Sorry guys, I realized that the OEM charger is indeed much faster at charging. Read posts below.
postimg.org/image/6wis1rux1/ - using licenced qc3.0 charger
postimg.org/image/ndr13s0pv/ - using oem charger.
Further test screen off
15min charge with licenced qc3.0 gives 13%
15min charge with oem charger gives 27%
Same test with screen on (playing video)
15mins with either charger yields about 15%, no noticible difference. Seems like the oem charger throttles when screen is on.
All tests are run when the battery is below 20%.
Same oem cable used for all tests.
Using the oem charger to fully charge my phone does it nearly twice as fast as the qc3.0 charger.
Don't know how your able to achieve the same speed regardless of charger
Hi guys, I've been experiencing the same problem with original charger, that's very big and it's seems that didn't have quick charge. I've a samsung charger and with samsung charger it wroks fine. I'll try to well plug thw original , but, it's thinner samssung's one.

Interesting ... I stand corrected now regarding the "Fast Charging" on the lock screen.
I never used the original charger because I bought mine directly from Taiwan which has an US plug which I cannot use here in Germany directly without an extension.
I tried the OEM charger now with an adapter and yes you are right, the Charge Rate with the OEM charger is 2 times faster than with other chargrers.
OEM charger - 2900ma charge rate
Other charger - 1300ma charge rate
---------- Post added at 11:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:02 AM ----------
Actually now I'm confused. When I plugged in the OEM charger, it said "Fast Charging" for a short while and then it says "Charging". The Charge rate also came down from 3000ma to 1300ma and down to 800ma when the battery is at 90%.
I will do some proper tests with the different chargers and post back.
Confirmed: OEM charger is much faster than other QC 3.0 chargers
When the phone reaches 70-80%, the charging rate will slow down and just trickle charge. This is normal as it can be dangerous to keep charging at Fast speeds when the battery is close to full capacity. So if your phone has 80% and you put it on charge, it will not Fast charge regardless of the charger you use.

I can also confirm fast charging doesn't work with my QC 2.0 charger. Interesting thing to note is it outputs 5V - 2A and 9V -2A. My guess is this charger from Asus that fast charges the Zenfone 2 would work on our phones because it has the same outputs if you read the description. It's worth a shot and you could always return it to Amazon if it doesn't work.

Unfortunately, even though the charger referenced above has the same outputs it doesn't fast charge. Seems you can only fast charge with the included charger. At least we can use our own charging cable. If anyone gets another charger to fast charge the device let us know. It doesn't appear Asus sells the included charger on it's webpage yet.
Not allowing the standard quickcharge charger to work forces people to once again purchase / replace current QC chargers.
One tick to the CONs side of the evaluation.

At this moment, I don't really think it's a CON side...
The quality of all those QC2.x/3.x charger are not even today (may get better in future, however I really doubt those cheap, knock-off charger from China). Some are good, some are outright bad. QC is quite sensitive with the voltage/current delivered by the charger (it's by design of QC, I believe) and not optimum voltage/current will shorten the battery life at best, create danger at worst scenario.
LiPo battery is really not designed to be charged in high speed. The associated temperature issues needs to be check very carefully and charge current needs to be controlled strictly to avoid dangerous thermal runaway. It cannot only be done by phone itself and need co-work from adaptor (switching voltage, for instance.) Thus an adaptor which have good communication with phone is a safety requirement as far as QC is concerned.
Same with me. I bought a wall charger aukey PA-16 and a car charger Aukey CC-T8. Using the ampere APP, The original zenfone charger gets 2800 mAh. And the aukey chargers up to 1300 mAh.
K6 charger also does not enable Quick Charge function on 570KL
Input type: 100-240V 50-60Hz 0.5A - Quick charge 3.0 output: 3.6V-6.5V-3A/6.5V-9V-2A/9V-12V-1.5A - Power: 18W
I am wondering if someone achieved any solution to remove OEM charger lock to use fast charge with third party Qualcomm Certified Chargers/Power Banks?
Sorry to resume this thread but i lost my oem charger and id like to get one that works with the zenfone 3 deluxe and quickcharge. Can anyone post a link where i can buy it or maybe the model number of the charger? The EU version would be nice.
Thanks
Any solution to the original question?

ASUS locked the fast charge function to the OEM QC 2.0 charger that comes with the phone (it will NOT work even with other ASUS QC 2.0 - or 3.0 - chargers, only with the specific type/"model" that came with the phone). Therefore we don't get QC3.0 - as advertised - at all. The QC3.0 compatibility with 3rd party chargers, powerbanks and car chargers was disabled with one of the updates, I think it was the Android 7.0 Update (that replaced Android 6.0) that removed QC3 compatibility. So... any ideas how to re-enable the QC 3.0 functionality?
Quick charge was disabled for other chargers from day one. I'm still on marshmallow (Android 6.0) and only the charger that came with the phone works with quick charge.
Hi everyone!
I have a car charger for my old phone, the OnePlus 3. But yesterday my Samsung Galaxy s8+ arrived and is now my daily driver .
My question is : Does a official OnePlus car charger (with dash charge) works for my Samsung Galaxy s8+? If so, does it damage the battery?
Kind Regards,
Pieter
I have tried mine with the old OnePlus dash charger and though it works, the charge speed is crazy slow. The phone was reporting that from about 40% it would take 5 hours to finish the charge.
Am guessing there is something propitiatory in the dash charger that is causing this. I dont use it on the S8 anymore, incase its damaging the battery somehow.

It won't damage the battery, but it also won't do fast charging as the Dash charging is proprietary and doesn't support Qualcomm's (also proprietary but much more widely used) Quick Charge 2 (or higher; QC is backwards compatible) that the S8/S8+ uses.
According to the car Dash Charger specs the standard (non-Dash) charge supports up to 5V at 2A, which is 10W. Compare this to the official Samsung charger's 9V at 1.67A (QC2), so provides 15W.

In theory then it should be able to charge the S8+ at two-thirds of the speed of the official charger, however it is possible there are other incompatibilities that slows it down - ie. the Dash charger won't provide the full 10W for some reason. A possibility might be the Dash charger cable, as from what I understand this is a bit different to a normal cable to support the Dash charging technology. Maybe try a high-quality standard USB and see if it charges any faster?
An aside: The S8/S8+ is the fact it can also fast charge over (the non-proprietary) USB Type C with 5V at 3A (also 15W). This isn't USB Power Delivery (USB-PD), just the 15W allowed by USB Type C, and since that can provide the full 15W the phone can use over QC2 there's no actual need for USB-PD - but most charges that support 5V at 3A are labelled as providing USB-PD and will work with the phone even if the phone don't use the 'PD' part of the spec.
Lots of questions here...
G7 comes with QC 3.0 although the chipset can support QC 4.0 as per Qualcomm. I see on other forums that users can tell when their phone is quick-charging or slow-charging.
1) Does the G7 let you know what speed it is charging at? I'd like to know so I can swap out cables, chargers, Qi pad, to get the fastest charging rate.
2) Is there a difference between Samsung's Fast Charging, and Qualcomm's QC 3.0?
3) If a charger says that it is compatible with Samsung S9's or S9+'s fast charging, will it fast charge the G7?
4) is there a QC Qi pad that is compatible with our QC 3.0 phone? If so, can I assume that I would still need to power it with a QC 3.0 wall wart?
5) Will a USB-PD or USB-IF charger quick charge our phones?
6) What is the minimum QC cable type (USB 2.0, 3.0, or 3.1) needed to get the maximum QC 3.0 charge? Does it have to be a 3.1 cable?
7) I've seen that when I put the G7 on my 1st gen Qi pad (5W micro-USB) that the phone screen lights up, and a circle briefly appears with the charged percentage in the center (while phone is on stand-by). If the phone is unlocked and the display is on, a white window telling me it is wirelessly charging shows up and tells me how long until the phone will be fully charged (again, when placed on a Qi pad). It's currently telling me 19 minutes to full charge from 93%. Is there a way to get this remaining-time info while cable-charging through the USB-C port?
Thanks!

The charge rate of the phone irrespective of the chargers we use, it is controlled by the stock kernel. When screen is on, it lowers down the amperage (See Ampere App) to keep off the heat, vice versa etc. We need a custom kernel to have the charging amperes to be changed manually which is really cool. If we have a really cool custom kernel, the CPU governors should preset customisable governors (for smooth performance) and for the charge values, just look for a 3A charger, with the Kernel Adiutor change the values. Meaning the benefits of rooting gives us the complete freedom of our Android! If a 4A charger is detected by the kernel manager app, the charge values should show as "upto 4A even with the screen on! Then no need to be jealous of Dash Charging of One Plus!
I think this article will help you out... Breaks it all down... Samsung charger are not the greatest for fast charging but works better than a basic one... Ultimately I would say USB c to USB c with USB PD is your fastest with QC 3.0/4.0 being a close second..

I don't see that wireless fast charging is b supported by the g7 ... That's a Samsung gimmick ... But the Qi standard chargers charge at the same rate as a basic charger... The lock screen always tells you how long until full no matter what charger you are using and it will say fast charging, wireless or just charging... My observations have been around 1.5 hour for 60 percent to full so about 5 hours if dead, great before going to sleep and I missed it in my least few phones

Thanks! I noticed you do not have a G7 listed as a current phone in your signature. Is your answer above based upon your experience with Samsung phones and their charging system, or specifically with the G7 (or other QC 3.0 phones)?
I hadn't notice the charging speed on the lock screen, as I have the phone set to basically bypass it all the time (fingerprint, facial recognition, & geo-fence)...so I didn't even know it was listed there on the bottom. Thanks again...now I know it's there
Strange thing is I went through a bunch of permutations with cables (various generations), and charge blocks and Qi pads this morning, and with the phone starting at 93% charged, it made no difference in remaining charge time no matter what combination of the items I hooked up. I saw the standard "charging" memo with some combos, and the "fast charging" one too, with others. Can I assume that even though the phone might say it's fast charging, it ramps the speed/power level up and down as necessary due to the current state of charge, or heat or some other factors? Would it also possibly switch into fast-charging with more power if the phone was starting at a lower state of charge, or possibly cooler?Yes, I'll have to read the link above as it's probably covered there
"Fast Wireless Charging" is supported and working.
I have a RavPower 15w and 3 umdigi 15w qi wireless pads that all say wirelessly fast charging when connected. Needs an 18w QC2-3 charger for the input voltage ranges needed to work.
It is noticeably faster than a 10w qi pad and only slightly slower than QC 3.0 USB average charge.

My pixel screen went bad and the charging port went bad also... Just got the g7 so I haven't changed my signature or updated my devices...
Samsung Fast charge is basically qc2 ... And standard USB A to C do not support the higher current that USB C to C does... I notice fastest charging with my pixel USB PD charger...
And yes you won't notice as much fast charging from the top 20 percent of the battery to prevent over charging...
for me, from 25% of charge, the fast charge advertisement says 1 hour and 20 minutes (charge fast???????).... if i use a normal charger (not fast), the time goes to 1 hour and 31 minutes. this phone has a charge fast but very low fast

I know it's hard from a specs perspective as most are only 75% efficient so the 10w might only be 7.5w and 15w is actually 10w, which is why LG customer services expressly states you must use a 15w QI charger for fast wireless charging. Another problem is the specs aren't always accurate and updated devices might still have old specs listed. I tried a bunch before I found a couple I liked. The mophie streampad+ also does fast wireless charging but is listed as 10w.
The RavPower is a standup charger I use in the office, the other UmDigi chargers I have scattered around the house and in the bedroom.

Did a little charge test from 50 percent
Wireless charger =1h 40m
Stock iPhone charger =1h 14m
Both pixel USB C to C and stock fast charger =1h 2m
I'm in the market for a qi charger that can fast charge my Thinq g7. I see reports of needing 15W but not seeing many out there that have that spec.
I have seen a RavPower one posted here that is said to do it but the price is quite high for that model. Does anyone else have experience with fast charging the thinq g7 with a Qi charger?
I have Samsung Fast wireless charger. This present with S7. Fast charging battery of S7 Edge, S9+. But G7 didn't support fast wireless charging. And charging is slow. So you can buy what you want but charging with this phone will be slow.
I read this topic and wondering how G7 is going to wireless fast charge?
Sent from my LM-G710
Just thought I'd add to this - the charger that comes with the LG G7 ThinQ (Verizon) is labeled with outputs 9V/1.8A and 5V/1.8A. My old HTC 10 charger is labeled 12V/1.25A, 9V/1.7A, 5V/2.5A. I haven't tried it on the HTC 10's charger on a measuring device to see actual power delivery, but at least on the face of it, if it supports those higher voltages and/or amps, you should be able to get faster charging than with the charger out of the box.
On the other hand, faster charging may in part be why the HTC 10's battery lifetime is dismal, and not once have I thought "boy I wish my G7 would charge faster".
Anyone tried qc4.0 ?
According to some sites ThinQ is capable of 27W (9x3) charging. I therefore purchased a Xiaomi 65W charger which outputs 9x3 but the phone charges only with 15W (5x3) so wasted money.
Yes. I bought 3 different chargers and also a watt meter. When charging with screen on max amps is 1A and 6-8wattage. When screen is off it goes up to max 16watt. And it doesnt matter which charger i use.
80min for a full chsrge isnt that good. But think that lg g7 released in 2018?
Vivos IC00 something charges full in 20min. 4000mAh.
Im sick of "..reduced charging speed cause it can in a long term reduce battery......" who gives..? Then if you notice a different is gonna take 3 years and if still got same phone. Switch battery.
Look at Tesla batteries whos battery lost like 10 percent after 30000 km. I mean..come on
Im on 72% now and it says 45min to full.
A specialised site reported it would charge at 27W (9V x 3A) but this is simply not true. The best it can charge is 15W (5V x 3A). Thats it.
