Hi Everyone.
Keen to get a cellular version of the galaxy watch (keener for a cellular version of the watch active but apparently its not coming our with a cellular version) but I have a huawei mate 9,
Can anyone tell me...
Will it work with a mate 9?
If not what functions are not active?
Does it matter if the watch is a cellular version? does it being cellular mean it can connect directly to apps and access required information.
Apologies if this has been asked before, I have gone looking but cant find any reference ..
Thanks Tony
I have a Samsung phone so I'm not certain that this is 100% the truth, just what I have read from people in here or over the galaxy watch subreddit.
It should not matter what android phone is most things will work fine just like with a Samsung phone, I've only seen people talking about some compatibility issues with iPhone.
Now about the esim..
What I've read about it is that it works as if you have the phone with Bluetooth with you, you will get all the notifications but you don't have apps on the watch.
All of the notifications will be just mirrored from the phone notifications and the apps you can get on the watch right now are really limited.
Well you have Spotify and Samsung mail but for the others you can only do the same as on the phone notifications, read most of them, answer some things but it's going to be limited, on messaging apps you can see the last 10 but once you close the notification you have to wait until you get another etc.
If you often go out to do things like some kind of sport that doesn't allow you to bring the phone or you think you could use it while doing other things, it can be worth it but it's not going to work fully as a secondary smartphone, just as a app notification center + phone.
I'm using a cellular Galaxy Watch with a Huawei P20 Pro and it works perfectly.
Cheers,
Tom.
In all honesty, since they now allow you to download/install the Galaxy Weable app on pretty much any device now, you can use it with whatever device the app will work with.
I mean, there are always limitations and whatnot, but rule of thumb, yeah, it's not locked to Samsung phones only. Hell, they even let i(cough)Phone users use it! (unlike that fruity company with their watches).
Thanks!

You may have to activate LTE on a samsung phone. S7 or newer.
I'm on a p30 pro. Panicked when I tried to activate LTE through the wearable app and it wouldn't work. Borrowed an S10, put in sim card and activated. All good now.
Works a treat with my OnePlus 8 Pro! Cheers
I'm using Galaxy Watch Active 1 and Honor 9 lite, all function on watch work well ( pairing, get whatsapp, email, SMS notification, purchasing app). And I can access galaxy store without phone (using Wifi network).

I have Galaxy Watch R800 (BT, WiFi only) and Huawei P20 PRO and I cannot make a Galaxy Store on the watch to work. Any idea?
Everyone I try to run Galaxy Store on my GW i get error. I can run galaxy store on my phone and it works. I have the same problem with Bixby. Any other app works great.
I get this error even on WiFi connection.
My advice for those who want to perfectly match the smartphone with the watch: If you own a huawei smartphone then buy a huawei watch and if you own a samsung smartphone then buy a samsung watch! Otherwise, after few updates of one or another nobody guarrantee if pair samsung/huawei/xiaomi or whatever will still work without bugs...
Hello everyone, I've had a problem for a few days. (I am from France)
I have a galaxy S10 running Android 10
And a Galaxy watch under tizen 4.0.0.4 (I'm waiting for 4.0.0.7)
The stand-alone mode works, but the remote connected mode (4G) no longer works. However, I am good in 4g on the phone and on the watch. Also, I have activated on galaxy wearable, the remote connection box. (see picture)
Is this a problem from Samsung? Watch? Phone? Thanks for your help ?

Have you enabled it with your carrier? Mine required an extra plan to be able to use the 4g with my watch.
Thanks U for your Answer.
Of course, it s actived
Sometimes I have to reboot watch to make it work
Good day to you I'm working on the assumption that it is something that has worked and stopped functioning temporarily.
I wouldn't worry about it too much to be honest.
The watch connects to the phone over LTE via some cloud servers, occasionally they have issues with getting the watch to connect with the phone effectively, it happened to me a few weeks back but sorted it's self out after a few hours.
If it's something that's been going on for a longer time than a day or so, then it's time to start troubleshooting.

thank you for the answer. I also think that it comes from samsung servers because even when my watch is connected by Wifi and the mobile in 4g (or wifi because I also tested) it does not work anymore. However, it's been over 2 days now, so I don't think it comes from the watch ... Am I wrong?
Hmmm, try uninstalling the wear app, then reinstall again, if that isn't working you can try resetting the watch to factory settings and try again, it is possible it's a Samsung service issue, definitely something isn't handshaking somewhere, 2 days seems a bit of a long time for it to be a service issue though :/
Well, I tested everything to find out where the problem could come from. However, less than one could say is that Samsung technicians are not ... How to say ... Responsive! And that's a shame. That said, the main thing is to have found (I hope) the solution, and that it could help people.
The problem came from the toggle of the request "notif arriving on lel" and which is sent to the samsung account and then that the watch receives it and by analyzing my samsung account (with a pc on the samsung site), it generates that the "cloud" part of my account was not active but in error (and no response from samsung on an e-mail that I sent to them, hence my amazement about the reactivity).
Suddenly, I had a second samsung account, I re-paired everything, put this new account in wearale (essential), checked on the samung site that cloud state "active" and the ca worked direct .....
So the mystery: why my cloud (which is used to receive notifications) was in error .... I would never know lol. Or was it a confluence between the 2 accounts? I don't think it worked before ... In advance, I completely deleted this account that had the error.
I hope this solution will be eternal lol and that it will help
Good morning all
Is there anyone in the community who uses the Locus Map add-on on their Samsung watch?
I installed it on my Galaxy Watch, but I have a issue, the add-on can't connect with the Locus app on my S10e....
I already tried to clear cache & data from "Samsung accessories service" app as suggested by the Locus support, but it doesn't solve my problem...
Any advice is welcome...
Cheers
There are two add-ons. One is for the free Locus, second is for the paid one. Do you have the correct version?
Yes, i have the pro version (i bought the one for the smartphone)
It may sound stupid, but have you tried to restart your Watch? I had a similar problem. Locus on my GW was disconnecting after a few minutes. A restart solved it for me.
Yes, i have restarted both device, watch and phone.... and to be sure, I made a factory reset on the watch, uninstalled locus from the phone (after cleared cache & data) and made a fresh install of locus Pro on both devices.... but the issue was not solved...
Edit:
I wrote to the Locus team and they answered that we are two having this issue and that they don't have gear developer recently.... maybe they will remove the gear add-on from the Galaxy Store
Thanks for the update! That's bad news. Locus add-on hasn't been updated for ages... According to your signature, you have a device with Android 10. I'm on Pie, where is pairing working fine - at least for me. Do you have a second device with Pie? Sorry I couldn't help.
thanks for trying!
My other device is a Huawei P30 pro but he's also running under Android Q.
I have an old one, a galaxy S7 under Oreo (if I remember well), but I don't want use it, I have it in my son...
And a galaxy watch can only be pairing with one device.... it means that every time I want use locus on my watch, I should factory reset my watch ...
That's can't be a a long-term solution....
Anyway, thanks again for trying
Hi!
Today, I received an OTA update of the Galaxy Wearable application and it seems that Locus work again on the galaxy watch.
I'll test it soon and give you feedback about....
Edit:
I did two mountain bike trips of 30 and 25km and it worked wonderfully
So, I'll continue to use it ans let you know if something is wrong....
Hi!
I was wondering if anyone managed to setup Samsung Pay on their galaxy watch active 2 while their phone is rooted.
I can't setup SPay on my watch since it requires setting it up on my galaxy s10+ phone which is rooted.
Maybe any bypass or any other suggestion?
Thank you!

Unfortunately, Knox kills the ability to setup Samsung pay on the watch. Pity because I was considering the Galaxy Note 20 or Galaxy Note S10+ as my next phone due to processor specs.
Once Knox is tripped, one cannot go back (though there is anecdotal discussion on some Samsung devices that people have had Knox reset to 0x0 after being tripped).
Sorry I could not be of more help.
Cheers,
B.D.

I was able to get it to work on mine. Uninstall the Samsung pay plugin on your phone then reinstall it and use the magisk hide option in magisk to hide it from the 2 plugins I have in my screenshot. Close the magisk manager app and then try it. You have to be fast at signing in and adding a card. If it pops up with the error saying that your device is modified just close the Samsung pay app and open it again and keep going. If it keeps going you might have to block more of the plugins for the Samsung plugin in the magisk manager hide option.
Once you get it running, to keep it working across ROM's, if youre in the habit of flashing different ROM's, and want to keep your Samsung Pay working across flashes, along with the connection to the watch (without having to reset it), heres how i do it:
Keeping Watch Connection And Samsung Pay Across ROMs
This is currently how i keep my Galaxy Active 2 working - connected and Samsung Pay working - across ROM flashes without having to reset it every time, because resetting sucks Please note: At time of writing theres no known way to keep BP...

The basic part is to set the same Android ID as when you first got it working....
I replied to the OP's in regards to their work still working for this new generation of Galaxy Watches 5 and 5 Pro
So far everything is just about the same and maybe even easier now that I did it for the Watch 4's for the whole family.

A breakdown from those posts:
I am one of the lucky ones that has a Galaxy watch 5 pro with no Google Assistant due to issues in the app connection to the phone.
It goes to open the Google app to start activating assistant like it does with the 44mm Galaxy Watch 5, but it fails to go to the next step of activation and lands on the discovery page.
Well knowing how well this threads info worked for us on the Galaxy Watch 4, I have gone ahead and installed the Google Assistant Go version listed in the post using Bugjaeger.
This time we go into the watch settings >> about watch >> software info >> keep clicking the software version until it tells you developer mode ON.
Then goto watch settings >> Developer Options >> 1. turn on adb debugging
Then goto watch settings >> Developer Options >> 2. debug over wireless
Then goto watch settings >> Developer Options >> Wireless debugging >> + pair new deveice
In Bugjaeger we then start up the connection and click pair, enter the IP, the port and the passcode.
At this point it will be connected in Bugjaeger and the watch will beep showing a new notification for debugging.
Install the Google Assistant GO apk and voila you are good to go.
I did have to do an interactive shell to "wm density 280" in order to click the continue button for activation.
Remember to reset your density to its original number(which on the 5 pro is 340)
If you are like me and need assistant or the device gets returned, use this as a solution until google fixes their routine for activating assistant.
Feel good moment since I wont be returning this loved watch 5 pro!
EDIT1: Nothing above was editing only this addition,
I have also found that the workaround method for the BP/EKG by Dante is still working with the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Installation of his APK for the watch can be installed with Bugjaeger just like we installed Google Assistant Go just above.
Dear my friend, just found your thread
i got yesterday my watch 5 pro, but i have exact the same issue as you mentioned, if i press the button on the watch, to activate assistant on the phone, just the google app newsfeed gets opened on the phone, nothing else happend ...
I have a S908E from Singapour and the Watch is from Austria, may this be any issue?
do you know why this happens like that? is it a samsung fault or google?
I have the LTE version Galaxy watch 5 pro. Does my phone need to be on to receive calls and texts? Whenever my phone is in airplane mode or turn off I can't receive calls or texts. Is this normal?
